    Small Choban Salad
    Cathy T.

For the Greek Pita Chicken Gyro, all of the sauces contain dairy so I asked for my pita with no sauce. The pita contains Chicken Gyro with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and generally tzatziki sauce (which I asked to be removed). The chicken was very moist despite ordering as take out! The pita comes with a side of fries which was very nicely seasoned. I also ordered a small Choban salad. The salad contains tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, parsley, lemon, olive oil, and sumac. The salad was very fresh and the lemon made the dish very vibrant and aromatic.

Unfortunately I picked up an Uber Eats order on Feb 27 but we found a bunch of plastic wrapping in the food. We took it back immediately and they offered a refund. It's been 9 days and they have not done anything. I have emailed them, messaged them on instagram, and sent them a message on their website; all have been ignored.

Returned for a second visit tonight! Yum!! Ready to come back a third time when the opportunity arises. Thank you for a nice dinner

As a huge proponent of trying as many things on a menu as possible, the Royal mix plate was an easy decision when ordering food here. It came with lamb and beef gyro, chicken gyro, chicken shish kebab, lamb shish kebab, and beef kofte, all served with rice, salad, and pita. The food was fresh and flavorful, and you got a pretty decent sized portion of each. I tasted everything right away, but ate a majority of the meal the next day, and am glad to say just about everything help up, and the chicken kebab got even better. The only thing that didn't live up to the taste it had on the first day was the beef kofte. The first day it was basically a melt in your mouth steak, and the next not quite as tender. Service was friendly, I was taking the food to go, but they still offered me cold or hot water while I waited. Some of the meats were cooked to order, so I did have to wait a little while, good idea to call and order ahead if you're in a hurry.

Good food, very fast, go to med place, very authentic! The greek pita and kofta plate are absolutely delicious!

Hella good food. I ordered Dolma, chicken shish, rice, and kunefe. Dolma I had never had before, it's not for me but I think of you are accustomed to the grape leaves you will like it. They were very moist. They had a strong olive flavor that personally wasn't for me. I had meant to order the just chicken gyro and accidentally got just chicken shish but I'm not even mad, it tastes so good. Especially with their tzatziki and hot sauce. Super juicy and has that great grilled taste. Rice is bomb, steamed and has a lot of flavor. Kunefe- this was my first time trying it and I think I'm going to get addicted. Such a great lightly crispy texture outside with the soft cheese inside and a perfect level of sweetness 10/10 Service was fast.

A good value and a pleasant meal. It's simple but the kofta was quite tasty. Falafel was a bit hard. It's in a convenient location surrounded by lots of shopping at nearby Westgate.

Today, I'm in Silicon Valley. I'm here at Royal Kebabs and Gyros in Campbell this Afternoon, ya heard me, I said Royal Kebabs. I'm here for a Kofte Beef Kebab Platter. This version is done in a slightly different way, the Kofte was packed with flavor, there's some Smokiness to it, the Spices really came through, and it's shaped into Medallions or Mignon's. The rice is prepared kinda differently than similiar Shops out there as well, it was cooked almost perfectly and fragrant. I was thinking this was going to be a 3.9-4.3 stars, I also want to give this a 4.2/4.3 stars, but I give this 4.3 stars out of 5 stars. I enjoyed my meal.

Best food around. Very friendly staff and the combination plates are the best. I would highly recommend this place. Try the tea great with end of dinner or lunch treat.

I stopped in today at noon for takeout. There was one other person in front of me but otherwise the restaurant had no patrons at the time. I ordered the gyro (beef/lamb) with fries. It was a sizable order with plenty of meat and fries but unfortunately the taste was lacking. As noted, there was plenty of meat but it lacked flavor and none of it had crisp edges. I'm thinking that it was yesterday's left overs that was feebly heated up. It was dry and there wasn't enough sauce to help it. Definitely needed a drink to finish the meal. The fries were cooked well and there was an attempt to sprinkle seasoning on it but it wasn't sprinkles well nor was it very tasty. So, blah! Perhaps it was just an odd day for them. I'm willing to give it another try but perhaps for a late lunch instead.

1st time here. A friend invited me to join her, and said it was where many of her co-workers ate…read more The short version is: my meal was very sub-par, and way over-priced. The details: I normally don't eat a lot of meat, so I chose the Falafel Salad. It came with extremely little lettuce, plus a few olives (which I don't eat), onions (which I also eat sparingly), tomatoes, cucumbers, and the falafel balls. Oh! And there was feta cheese, but those were such miniscule pieces, and so few, that I wouldn't have remembered it was supposed to be part of the salad, if I didn't just pull up a photo online with their ordering system. What you see in the photo online is not what you get. The photo actually looks like a salad. Since it was called a salad, I expected there to be more lettuce, than the few pieces on the plate. I mainly was cutting up the cucumber & tomato pieces to go with the falafels. I don't even recall any dressing. There were also some pita slices with what I assumed was hummus. Whatever the dip was, it did not taste good to me at all. So I left all of the pita bread, as well, since it was dry without anything on it. Maybe what I assumed was hummus was a dressing. Hard to know, but it was not tasty. For the $27 I paid at a walk up counter, I would have expected much better food! I have bought frozen falafels at Lunardis (around $7) and made a salad for them at home, and enjoyed it very much, which is why I ordered it. I have purchased Spanakopita at the store many times, (about $5 for around 12 of them at the store) and made them at home, which is why I didn't order that. The falafel salad was not an enjoyable meal for me at Yiassoo's. I'd also seen some reviews from a few years back that said they paid around $10 or $11 for their meal. That is more in-line price-wise with what you get, based upon my meal. With most of the meals around $20 for lunch, I feel they were very over-priced. I also asked my friend if she'd like to split a Baklava. They had a pistachio one & chocolate one. My friend wanted to try the chocolate one, so I bought that. I didn't think I was too into baklava, but thought it might be nice to try at this highly rated Greek restaurant. The main flavor that came through was the honey & nuts. The chocolate was just a tiny, narrow drizzle on top. I didn't hate it, but I would never order it again. My friend took one bite, and said she mainly tasted the honey, and would take it home for her husband. It may be very good baklava, but it was not to our tastes. My friend ordered the Gyro salad. It had a large pile of shaved meat, and she seemed to enjoy it. She ordered it To-Go, as she knew she'd be taking some of it home. She seemed to have more lettuce under her pile of meat than my meal got. Maybe because it was in a To-Go box, which might be larger than the plate? Or maybe the person making my salad just wasn't paying attention to how to make a decent meal. I was hoping I was trying a restaurant that I could go back to for something different. Based upon my experience, I would not go back, if I had a choice. I gave it 3 stars, because maybe other dishes, or people looking to just eat meat or falafel balls and not much else would enjoy it. I only have the 1 meal to review, but it does not encourage me to try it again. Overpriced & not a fulfilling meal.

You can scan the QR code at your table or order at the front counter. We ordered from the front counter. We ordered the highly recommended Mousaka, the 3 piece plate with a side of green Greek salad. We chose the chicken skewer, pork skewer, and bifteki for our 3 meat choices as well as an order of Spanikopita. Our food was delivered to our table promptly. I grew up eating my Mom's Mousaka and I've eaten it in Athens, Naxos and Santorini. Let me tell you, their Mousaka was excellent. The eggplant, potato, meat filling and béchamel on the top were perfect. It's definitely a must try. The three skewers of meat were so flavorful and juicy. Both my husband and I loved it!! The pita bread it came with so warm and soft. The Spanikopita was fresh and hot. Delicious flaky phyllo dough with a savory spinach interior. The salads that came with each dish were also wonderful. Their feta on the top was so good and I loved the Kalamata olives. Customer service here was great. The young lady that helped us when we ordered was very friendly and helpful. It started getting busy inside while we were eating and I can see why. This is delicious homemade Greek food made from the heart. We will be coming here more often, now that we know about this place. Their tri tip shawarma manakish is something we'd recommend if you're not feeling to adventurous and want to stick with more basic/modern flavors. They also don't skimp on the toppings with this one. Expect the manakish to be thin like NY thin crust pizza, but maybe more soft/doughy. Portion-wise, one manakish can probably be 1-2 people, unless you're super hungry. - Shawarma bowls - We've tried their tri tip shawarma bowls. Each bowl is loaded with a good portion of rice, meat, salad, and pickles. There's definitely enough meat to pair with each spoonful of rice. The bowls are again, very flavorful and not too oily, which I appreciate. - Shawarma wraps - We've tried their tri tip shawarma wraps. Each wrap is filled with similar ingredients in the tri tip shawarma bowl and manakish, except it's in a wrapped form. The wrap is still loaded with good flavor with every bite. We've always had ours paired with a side of fries. Their fries taste fresh and doesn't have a hint of being frozen/previously frozen. - Baklava - We've tried their pistachio and walnut baklava. Even though the baklava is sitting in the dessert fridge, each piece tasted fresh. The phyllo dough was still fluffy with many layers even tough it was full of honey (yum!). They have a lot of seating indoors and some seating outdoors. If you're waiting for your to-go orders, they have water available. They also have a restroom for customers. All the times that we've picked up food, the restaurant has been kept very clean and neat. They have a small parking lot, and we've usually been able to snag a spot (except one time). Other parking options are street parking on the same side of the store or opposite the store (in the residential area or near the Salvation Army Thrift Store).

The food and service here never disappoint. I've been a frequent customer since 2009, and was…read morehooked at first bite with their beef kebab sandwich. Every dish is seasoned perfectly and not overly salted. I've tried just about everything on the menu and the meat is always tender. Vegetables here are top quality as well, which compliments the dishes nicely. And the green yogurt sauce is spicy! In a good way. I usually order an extra with the biryani plates, because *some* is just never enough. Their mango lassi is super mango-ey. I don't know what kind of mangoes go into this drink, but it has the most sweet, tart, and ripe fruitiness (emphasis on fruitiness), and the yogurt in it adds good balance. Perfect drink. There is a good variety of items to choose from, so I don't get bored eating here. You can tell everything is cooked fresh on a daily basis as well. Don't sleep on the desserts either. After trying baklava at many restaurants around San Jose, I regard Gulzaar Halaal's as my personal favorite. Crispy layers, firm yet chewy bottom, and never stale. Perfect balance of sweet, nutty and spiced. My favorite dessert though has to be Kanafeh. Soft-ish, melty sweet cheese (with rose water, I think?). Ask for it warmed. I've always felt relaxed when eating in the restaurant. Tables are frequently cleaned. The owner is very attentive, making sure customers are happy with everything. Their interactions with people are always very respectful and kind. Last but not least, the bathroom is clean, neat and tidy.
