I grew up in Saratoga, partially grew up with Opa in Los Gatos - was so sad to see it go. Lived in San Francisco so hit Kokkari a few times. I now live in San Diego and the ethnic food + all the food is so bad compared to the Bay. Was delighted to visit Opa in Campbell with my wife when we were visiting over the Holidays. Didn't have to bring the toddlers around which was great. The food here is same same as it was 10-12 years ago. Moderate+ portions, everything is perfectly seasoned and tastes so so so great. I wouldn't say it's authentic to its native region, but it's a perfect American classy interpretation. Prices areo so legit as well. Service was great. Prompt, attentive, accurate. read more

After browsing the farmers market in Downtown Campbell, I decided to have lunch at Opa! On the weekends, the roads close off to cars and become pedestrian areas, making the ambiance a lot nicer. At 1pm on a Sunday, there were a 3-4 tables available outside and many available inside. We were seated right away. The server was very friendly! There's a special brunch menu on the weekends. We ordered the moussaka and Greek steak chilaquiles, which came with a side salad. The moussaka came out first -- I've never had this dish before, but it felt like a fancy lasagna (with vegetables instead of the dough). Despite the sauce drizzled on top, I felt that the dish didn't have too much flavor, and I personally wasn't the biggest fan. The chilaquiles came out second -- the portion was quite large. The dish was a unique taste on your traditional chilaquiles, but I felt the pita chips were a tad bit stale. Paired with the sour cream, avocado, cheese, and eggs, however, each bite was flavorful. Overall, Opa! is in a great environment (especially sitting on the patio area with the farmers market going on during the weekends). Stopped by here without reading reviews. What a mistake. Food was overpriced and not very good with small portions. Food wasn't even fully cooked (rice). Got the seafood pita that had 2 shrimp and 1 scallop for over $20. Got the beet salad that was drowned in bad sauce. Service was lack luster by being slow and even get getting to order wrong. We were really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! They kindly split the bowl of lemon orzo soup into two bowls even though we had only asked for two spoons. The oven baked chicken was superb: clearly not reheated, it was moist and fresh inside with a crispy skin outside, on a large bed of shallots and leek spinach with lemon cream sauce and excellent mashed potatoes. A huge portion half chicken which we took home. My wife had the seafood pita with lots of tzatziki sauce, super fries, large and meaty and garlicky with a dusting of feta. First the service was very slow. It took several minutes for any server to come by our table , and then another 10 minutes to order. And the restaurant was mostly empty. We ordered the beef skewers and fries. The meat was cooked well. However there was no seasoning on the meat or fries. The fries were also oily. We came here for dinner last night to celebrate our Niece's Birthday and it's been a few years since we've visited OPA Campbell. Let's just say, we may never come back!!! The service was the only thing worth our visit, that's where the star applies. The food was terrible!!! I ordered a OPA Saute and all of my veggies were drowned in oil and I asked for my beef skewer to be cooked medium and it was cooked rare and it was so tough, it tasted like I was chewing shoe leather. I'm thinking that would have tasted better!!! My husband ordered the Lemon Chicken Orzo, chicken was so dry and the orzo was drowning in a yogurt sauce. It was disgusting and flavorless!!! He couldn't eat it and decided to take it home so that he could doctor the flavors for himself!!! A staple for outdoor dining in downtown Campbell. With one of the larger and nicer patios of the DTC restaurants, Opa seems to always have a crowd. In the winter they have their firepit and heat lamps, while in the summer they have plenty of umbrellas and shade to go around. They have a pretty large menu with a wide variety of options for each category. Plenty of different protein options from chicken and lamb to beef and fish. Veggie options while less also seemed to be plentiful. The prices for some of the seafood dishes is on the higher side, while most veggie and meat options are pretty reasonable. My favorite of the dishes I've tried here has been the flatbread. While the ambiance at Opa is fantastic, the food is really just okay. The fries aren't super flavorful and could stand to be a little more crispy, and the meat and fish tend to be overcooked. There are definitely better options for Greek and Mediterranean food in the South Bay, but the al fresco atmosphere here is so good, it'll keep me coming back. read more

Ate here spur of the moment with the wife. She ordered lettuce wraps and specifically asked for no peppers. Waiter looked at the menu and said jalapeños are on it, is that what you don't want? Wife said "no peppers at all". It was served with peppers and them must have plucked the jalapeño out after making it because her tongue was swelling up. My mahi mahi was cooked so much I couldn't chew it. Sent it back and the replacement tasted like the fish was frozen and cooked in a microwave. I can honestly say it's the worst restaurant cooked fish I've ever had. I felt bad giving the waiter a tip. They had the personality of a chair... You sink into them right as you sit down and the wooden bar is right behind your knees. Please do not come here if you're elderly or have back problems, you WILL be in pain! I went to swap my chair for a less saggy one, this lady with hot pink lipstick yelled at me "hey hey let me know next time you need to do that ok?!" Huh? What next time? Yelled at me as if I am a kid and yelled front of my family, another table. She tried to grab the chair from me? If I wasn't with my family, I would have chewed her out and left. My soda was flat, not even one bubble. My step mom and I both asked for rice pilaf and we got very greasy fries (take a look at photo). They DID give us each rice pilaf on the side, but for what? So I can put the rice on my greasy plate covered with fries I didn't ask for? The guy who brought us the rice pilaf was visibly irritated. Same sir, same. Food and decor are pretty consistent with the other locations I've tried. There's almost always tables available on weekends when I go, so that's a plus. Portions are hearty and flavors are good. Go in with a hungry stomach! Service was also attentive since they weren't busy. Chicken pita: big chunks of breast meat similar to a skewer, a bit hard to work through holding up the pita. Inevitably bits will fall out, kind of found it better to deconstruct and eat with knife and fork instead. Always like the well seasoned fries. Mahi mahi: sauce on top was a bit heavy with the mashed potatoes but overall just right Pasticio: when it came out it was already looking rich and heavy. We did end up packing up almost half to go. Came back here after a long time only to be disappointed again....i got the chicken souvlaki dish with rice. If I wanted to swap the rice for a salad it was $5 more which I think is a bit of a punishment for those who want to eat a little healthier. Additional $5 is a bit much...should just be a free swap in my opinion. The chicken kabob seemed like it was fried first and the maybe charred over fire....it was a bit greasy and had that outside crisp texture like it was pan fried versus grilled. I dunno. We also ordered a saganaki which is fried cheese and were super disappointed in it. Not sure what cheese they used it seemed like mozzarella. They brought it table side and lit it on by pouring some liquid on it...the cheese sweat and created a lot of water beneath and the cheese got a bit hard after not too long. There is something about Opa that doesn't get me excited. The food and service never really go hand in hand. I came to this location last night with a group of friends. The restaurant was moderately busy but not busy busy. My group had seven people so a semi large group. There were also two other tables that also had a large group and other customers who sat outside. We didn't think service would be an issue as they seemed to have staff all around, but it was an issue. Our server was a younger guy, he was nice but I think he was still new on the scene as there can definitely be some adjustments on his service. He's still learning. We had to ask for several items, several times. And at times we wanted to order more items but it was hard to flag our server down and anyone really, it felt like as we looked over no one was paying attention. Since we were a large group we had a lot of dirty dishes. When appetizers are done all dishes should be cleared before the mains come. We had dirty dishes and our main dishes on the table. We had limited space and had to continually flag someone down to take the dirty dishes. This isn't good. The staff should be well trained to pay attention to these small details. Along with filling waters as they are needed. Overall I felt our drinks and food came out at a decent time. We first had our drinks appetizers then our main. The food was good but I wasn't wowed. The only item I really loved was the Spanakopita (Spinach Pie Pastry) appetizer. I could eat a bunch of these! The service here needs a alot of work! Will I come back? They opened enough windows and doors to kinda make you feel you are outside also but under the cover of a roof. The food was very good. Our server Nestor was great. No pressure on us first timers. We had. 1. Greek Nachos $17.00 we liked them. 2. Seafood Souvlaki $26.00 nicely done. 3. Kokinisto Me Manesta $48.00 was good and something to share because it's a lot. 4. Gyro Pita w/Firies $17.00 plain Jane but good. 5. Falafel Pita $16.00 is not no Falafel Drive Inn Falafel but ok. We would most likely return to this place to try other menu items. I would give this place six stars if I could. Anthony helped us plan our gathering of 23 people. He set us up in the outside patio/sidewalk area for our large group. We pre-ordered our items and were fortunate to be able to order some items off the happy hour menu. Bar service and table service was impeccable. Our server was very attentive and kept everybody's drinks filled. The food came out super quick and was fresh and delicious. Portions were ample. I have to say that the value for your dollar at Opa is great. We were able to do an event for 25 people for about $600. This did not include alcohol, of course. They set up was Covid safe and we were away from other groups so that we had our privacy. It was a pleasure to work with Anthony and his team and we will definitely consider Opa for upcoming gatherings. We couldn't be more pleased. read more

Just ok... Downtown Campbell restaurant, and if you're familiar with the area then you already know how tough parking can be in the evenings and during weekends. Opa is loved by so many, but I find it to just be franchise Greek food. The portions are just okay and definitely not what I would expect for the price tag. The food is also, just okay. We waited over 40 minutes for our food, with 3 babies at the table. My friends love their cocktail menu and the liveliness of the place - it's definitely popular. A staple in downtown Campbell, Opa is one of those places that seems like it's always got a crowd but somehow they're still always able to seat you right away without a wait. There are a lot of options so it seems like a lot of dietary restrictions could be met. Some healthy choices, consisting of a protein, starch and vegetable make it easy to eat here without breaking your diet. Although in my experience, the proteins tend to be a bit dry and overcooked. The flatbreads are great and I'm a big fan of the Greek nachos, so those are easy staples with a group. If I'm just considering the prices and quality, I probably wouldn't come back too often, but because of its location right there in downtown Campbell I do find myself eating here before a night out from time to time. read more

Easy parking and dog friendly. I cannot say I was impressed by Opa! The dishes that both my wife and I had were burnt on the bottom. Not charred, not "browned" but burnt and horribly-tasting, covered with some sort of Bechamel sauce. The service was good, and we got seated quickly and our orders were taken quickly, as there was not a big crowd when we arrived. However, a few minutes later, the crowds arrived, so fortunately our orders were not affected by the influx, which could not have caused the burned food. I have been here several times over the years and it's an outstanding go-to for a nice meal, either with family or on a date. Beet Salad 5/5 by far, my favorite dish! There are both yellow & red beets. I could easily devour just this dish (ample serving too) along with pita bread & hummus. Lemon soup 4/5 I'll admit I was skeptical until the person I was with said it was outstanding and it was! Could use a bit more chicken though, very sparse. Salmon with mashed potatoes 4/5 This dish was amazing as well! Nice creamy, mashed potatoes & the salmon was cooked to perfection. Food is pretty average, there wasn't a single item we ordered today that tasted great. Even the Opa special fries were soggy and bland. Quantity/quality of food doesn't match the price tag. I had vegetable souvlaki priced at $17, that came with two small skewers of bland mushroom+onion, with equally bland rice. It shouldn't be called pilaf if it's just cooked rice without seasoning. Some folks needed sriracha to finish their bland pita sandwiches. Only item I liked today was the zuchini cakes. Would come here for the location and ambiance, not for the food. read more

I am a huge Opa fan. I've probably had the Greek salad 20 or more times LOVE the tzatziki and pita my daughter loves the kids pasta, lemon soup and dolmades. Recently we went for lunch and sat out in the patio which is our favorite. Unfortunately this time my salad was all red and old the chicken was so dry it was hard to eat that I mostly picked at it Nd then just continued to eat our appetizer the pita and Tzatziki. When we were done eating the waiter asked me how our food was and I told him how the lettuce was old and red and the chicken was really dry. He says "oh, ok. Sorry about that I'll let the kitchen know." Then hands me my check. I was super surprised that's all he had to say. Good food, enjoyable location. The patio is especially nice on a warm summer evening. Food is fairly consistent. I usually go for a gyro pita or gyro platter, which is basically a deconstructed pita. Nice for sharing. The flaming cheese is always a hit. I only wish it were a bigger portion! And the Opa fries... yum yum yum! That mustard dipping sauce is divine. Service is inconsistent. Cocktails here are a no for me. They used to make a great greek margarita, but since it went off the menu, I gave up on finding a replacement I like. This place was amazing! Very authentic, and sadly because of that I couldn't get a chicken Gyro. LOL my friend got the traditional euro which was a mixture of Lamb and cow meat and he said it was very moist and delicious. There was a very Tzatziki sauce as well and I got to dip my french fries in that! Our table was away from the bar which was nice as that section was full. We had a semi private area for our party of 9. Our server was attentive. I thought the wait time was longer than usual but when our food arrived, there were no issues. A colleague order a side of rice after receiving her entree and got it quick. While in downtown Campbell, we decided to do dinner. The restaurant is spacious both indoors and outdoors. Decor is very nice. We've seen how popular the outdoor seating is during the summer months. For dinner, we started with the fava dip and pita. Very similar to hummus, it was quite tasty and flavorful -- wish we ordered more. The cocktails we had were unique and will made. Service throughout our meal was on point. For entrees, we both order the chicken and lamb shish kababs. First impressions, the plating looked nice. Each came with a side of rice pilaf. Although cooked perfectly, the lamb lacked flavor and was quite tough. Some of the pieces were quite gristley. The chicken breast was "stringy", "rubbery", and also lacked flavor. Bummer. :-( [As a side note, I believe they use MSG in their seasoning so those who are hypersensitive, like I am, be aware. We were celebrating our friend's birthday and made reservations at 6:30 pm, but finished our activity early so we went here at 5 pm. We got seated at a large table inside in the back (8 of us), but the chairs were too low from the table. We asked to sit in the main indoor area where the table appeared to be more proportionate to the chairs, but the host wouldn't move us even though the restaurant was quite empty. The female host/manager told my friend the tables already had reservations, but when I checked Opentable there were a lot of timeslots open, hmm. Since it did not seem like they wanted our business which easily could've been a $300-400 bill, we left and ate at another nearby restaurant who appreciated our business. Lovely outside dining area next to two other restaurants owned by the chain--all three blend together. The service was okay--a little attitude, but not sure why. The food was mostly fresh but sorta missed the mark and, because the server was rarely around, we couldn't get anything set straight. We ordered a salad with the dressing on the side. It came with no dressing at all. There was an abundance of pita bread with everything! The appetizers, the salad, each entree, etc., came with a stack of pita bread--but no place to put it while we tried to enjoy our other food. The seafood skewers were okay, and accompanied by rice pilaf (and more pita bread), but the rice pilaf was no where as good as a box mix, although it took up most of the plate. We LOVE Opa! This is one of our usual go-to spots for date night. We love the food and drinks every time. For our appetizer we got the pita and tzatziki dip which we truly enjoy every time. We could probably eat two orders of it, lol! The cucumber and garlic in it is delicious. To drink, we both got the Grand Opa! Sangria. It's strong, but not too strong. We love the fruity flavors. We've only tried the red wine version, but are thinking of testing out the white wine one soon! Ok, now for the main dishes: - I ordered the falafel pita. I loved the wild rice pilaf that came with it. All the veggies were very fresh inside the pita. Also gotta love the tzatziki sauce they put on it. My only minor complaint is that I wish the falafel was a little crispier, but that's just a personal preference! Overall, everything was great. 9/10 - My fiancé ordered the lamb chops and really enjoyed them. They were cooked well and had a nice flavor.
