    Dinning room

Ambiance: dated traditional Chinese old era dinning room Food: classic Chinese dishes. Deep fried can range from quality to a bit underdone. The flavors on fried rice and noodles are solid Drinks: solid tea Service: no major issues, one server though which can result in delay if it gets busy Noise: quiet Price: very affordable but not necessarily cheap/ inexpensive Recommendation: solid place to go for a quick easy traditional Chinese style meal

I did like this spot but I won't be back after today. I ate nearly my entire meal, and it wasnt until the food was cleared that I saw several bugs in the sauce. Our waitress called the owner who told her to take my plate off the bill and 20% off the remaining bill (which was $5 off.) I think the entire bill should've been comped as no one wanted to eat their food after my discovery, and I am pretty nauseas after the experience

Awful. Grease galore and no flavor. Skip this mess. A dumpster fire of gelatinous goo.

As another reviewer mentioned, there were also bugs in my food. Specifically the crab Rangoon. Also on the box. Unacceptable.

The food is great, they are very friendly, and it's our favorite Chinese restaurant in the tri-town area.

The best Chinese food in the area hands down. I drive 20 minutes to get my Chinese food here and it's all worth it.

Wah May has been slinging chow mein and other old school Chinese goodies since 1961 from what looks…read morelike a former residence. Surprisingly, no bar. Unsurprisingly, plenty of combination plates. Chow Mein Sandwich: They have several choices for this regional specialty, which can also be had as a chop suey sandwich. Proteins include chicken, beef, mushroom, pork strip, and even shrimp or scallop. I went with chicken. What arrived was a humongous assemblage of thick-cut celery, tender chicken strips, and onions, with crunchy flat noodles interspersed and a thin, dark brown gravy (neither sweet nor salty) underneath. The bun was basically a garnish, so this demanded fork and knife eating. I think of it as a crunchier Chinese version of a hot turkey sandwich, with the bun the least important element but what makes it unique. As chow mein, good flavor and good texture, coming in well above average to near-elite. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce (on a combo): Five shrimp, ever so slightly overdone but serviceable, buried in a faintly sweet sauce with a more potent dark black bean base, with a few swirls of egg white. Scallions on top were more than a garnish, providing a savory counterpoint to the sweetness. Well above average. Egg Roll (on the combo): I have to admit, there are times I'm not fully certain on whether an egg roll filling is celery, cabbage, or a mix. This was NOT one of those times. The celery brigade can rejoice, as this one goes well past "celery forward" and onto "celery in your face," and I'm talking more in your face than an Elaine Benes Christmas card. Dark green, thick chunks, all with some crunch, and fully loaded. Baby shrimp and pork can also be found lurking, but this is all about the dominant celery. The wrapper brought a bit of greasiness (though within tolerance) but a strong, pleasant flavor as well. This unique egg roll bordering on subgum-in-a-shell is an absolute must-try, and I liked it to an extent, but wouldn't want it regularly. It's an acquired taste, so it's tough to score: overall, probably average, but a really fascinating average. Pork Fried Rice: A little dry in spots but dark of color with flavor to match and an acceptable amount of pork, onion, and bean sprouts. Above average. Very enjoyable meal, good food, different food, and a place I'm eager to revisit. Fairhaven is just over the bridge from New Bedford and boasts some stunning works of architecture in its town hall, Millicent Library, and Unitarian Memorial Church, all right around the corner from Wah May and not to be missed if you're into beautiful historical buildings.

Let's start by saying that I did come midday on a day that is not a normal dining day. Business was…read moreslow. There was only one other man that was inside of the establishment as a patron. I always like to start with the better things first. Spring rolls - top-tier loved every bite duck sauce could've been better, but as far as craftsmanship and quality behind the spring rolls was impeccable. I'm always very weary about getting spring rolls because they're mushy inside or the quality of the ingredients is not great but these did not fail. *Rate 4 out of 5 only because even though the quality was great, it's a spring roll. It was not packed with cabbage as most are and there was only one shrimp in each one. Suffering bastard - the drink was really good. I've had better but due to what I know for the drink, it was prepared very well. It wasn't too sweet and a packed a pretty decent punch, but I would not suggest it to a non-drinker. *Rate 3 out of 5 just because I felt like it needed fruit or some type of something to bring it to the level it needed to be, but it was just prepared like they didn't care. Lobster sauce - ultimate Sike out, presentation looked amazing... It was full with meat and it just looked amazing. Unfortunately, the taste was off by so many levels... I had to add soy sauce just to get the lobster sauce taste that I'm used to from prestigious Asian restaurants. Even then, it lagged where it should've excelled. I was disappointed in the dish, but I also would try it again just to see if it was a one off. Very high hopes for the dish. *Rate 3 out of 5 only because the presentation was there the ingredients was there. It just needed more flavor. House fried rice - love the presentation... Love the quality behind the ingredients... Once again flavor was not there. I don't know if, the flavor I'm used to behind fried rice is flawed but once again not my first rodeo and I've loved House fried rice since the first day I had it at six. It felt like the person was afraid to use the things they needed to make the fried rice the way it was supposed to be made as far as flavors. *Rate 3 out 5 because the quality behind the ingredients and presentation was all on point. It's just for some reason it felt that the rice was lacking salt or MSG. The flavor profiles did not combine the way that they were supposed to almost as if they was added together at the very end with no time to combine before hitting the plate. Boneless spareribs - these was probably the best spareribs when it came to tender and well cooked. The sauce that it's marinated in it felt as if they didn't marinate it long enough or didn't give it another brushing before finishing the dish. Just on how tender they are and them not being burnt or overcooked as many restaurants to do so many times over and over again I would definitely try this dish again just to see if anything would change. The marinade needs to be left on longer to make sure that the sweetness behind the marinade really sticks to the pork. *Rate 3 out of 5 only because of how tender the ribs were, I couldn't believe how well it was cooked and the quality behind it. I just wish that they left the marinade on long enough to get the sweetness that I was looking for. This is something I could be very easily fixed and would excel the dish by three folds. Customer service - didn't seem to wanna help at all, but did greet me at the door as soon as I got there. Seemed more interested in what he had going on behind the counter. Seem disturbed that I wanted to dine in instead of taking the order to go. Honestly, don't know if that's really was the case, but that's just how I felt based off of the vibe he gave. The one part that did make me feel weird was the combination plates was fairly priced, but didn't have what I was looking for entirely and when I asked if I could change the rice because I don't eat soy fried rice the man made it extremely difficult to substitute House fried rice even though I was willing to pay more money just to swap out the fried rice to house fried rice. So intern I had to spend $50 on a meal that I could've probably spent no more than $20 on. Just to get the items that I wanted on the plate separately because rice couldn't be substituted. Rate 2 out of 5 - the guy who was there she'll probably not be tending to customers more so the bar and probably grabbing orders, but just FYI, not very personable or friendly to the needs or the changes of a patron. I would need another visit to the establishment to determine whether or not I would recommend this place to someone. A lot of the dishes that I had seemed promising, but just seemed like maybe it was an off day for the cook or it may be due to dietary procedures, but I can honestly say if someone who has been doing it for years of experience was to go inside of the kitchen and taste what I tasted, they would agree that it was just off a little and could easily change to be an amazing experience.
