I see that SG gets ratings ranging from being quite lambasted to people lovin' it. I can dig the dichotomy. Let's peep this out, aye? The decor is pretty minimal. Some cool Oriental stuff at the entrance and the bar is fairly pimped out but the rest is plain-jane stuff. It's OK but lacks the old-school red-leather booth and gold-dragon vibe. The menu is wicked extensive for such a no-frills place. All sorts of subgums and stuff. Kung Pao is called Gung Pao here -must be a regional thing? We ordered a Toyko Blaster and a Mai Tai. The Blaster was phun and had garnish but the Mai Tai didn't have no garnish. No frills, remember? The drinks were tasty and fairly strong -especially the Tai. Moey ordered the Lunch Special which was Wings, Goons, PFR and Teriyaki Beef Stix. Admittedly the PFR was "the usual" old and cold. The Wings were teenie AF. The Goons were decent and were quite yellow due to coloring to make them Festivus looking. The TBS were OK -probably a "meh" rating. I got the Bird's Nest which was scrump AF and wicked copious. Lots of Beef and Chicken and "Chinese Veggies" as described on the menu including Pennsylvania Mushrooms. The nest was a Taro Root nest which did look like a bird nest and was interesting visually and phun to eat. All was slathered in a Yum-Yum Brown Boom-Boom/Yo-Yo type sauce. Additionally, my One was quite hangry and ordered up more food similar to her first order. The food arrived and it was similar to her previous order but with Fried Shrimp. She ate it. We figured it's the holidays, so we got two more drinks. Moey got another Mai Tai -this time she asked for garnish, and I got an Alabama Slammer (a very ancient and traditional Chinese drink dating far back to the Rang-Tang Dynasty) and it was served in a tiki mug with garnish. Prices are quite reasonable here -like as little as 7.50 a drink. I would say some things are good here and other things not so much. The waitress was absolutely wonderful and was multi-tasking wicked big time. I do wish the PFR was freshly made or at least conscientiously reheated. This very much adds a bummer element to an otherwise pretty good place. This is more than a mere peccadillo. This heinous offensive has been ubiquitous in many Chinese places dating way back to caveman times. It's no bueno. PS -I find it interesting that Portuguese influence has infused itself all the way into Oriental places in this area as they proudly featured Linguica Fried Rice and other Chinese dishes containing this atypical ingredient. Alrighty then...

I have eaten here a few times since they've been open and this local restaurant is one of my favorites! The Pan Fried Hunan Egg Noodle is always excellent! Everything included in the Pu Pu Platter is delicious, hot and the servings are huge. This was my first time trying the Pad Thai here and it was just okay and they do not include hot mustard to your order unless you ask. Overall the food is delicious, good service and we will definitely be back!

Sweet Sweet Ginger! Let me start by saying I did NOT expect this to be as amazing as it was. First of all food was ready for take out in 15 minutes. (Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. Some great food comes out of this place though! Amazing Chicken Teriyaki, Pepper Steak, and Pork Spare Ribs. Crab Rangoon was delicious and soft (I hate when it's over cooked). Food was exceptional and service was great and easy. Have enough left overs for lunch the next day with a $10 meal. Will come back soon. 4 Stars because Pork Fried Rice wasn't as good as the main course and this is my favorite part of Chinese food. But well worth the try!

Wah May has been slinging chow mein and other old school Chinese goodies since 1961 from what looks…read morelike a former residence. Surprisingly, no bar. Unsurprisingly, plenty of combination plates. Chow Mein Sandwich: They have several choices for this regional specialty, which can also be had as a chop suey sandwich. Proteins include chicken, beef, mushroom, pork strip, and even shrimp or scallop. I went with chicken. What arrived was a humongous assemblage of thick-cut celery, tender chicken strips, and onions, with crunchy flat noodles interspersed and a thin, dark brown gravy (neither sweet nor salty) underneath. The bun was basically a garnish, so this demanded fork and knife eating. I think of it as a crunchier Chinese version of a hot turkey sandwich, with the bun the least important element but what makes it unique. As chow mein, good flavor and good texture, coming in well above average to near-elite. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce (on a combo): Five shrimp, ever so slightly overdone but serviceable, buried in a faintly sweet sauce with a more potent dark black bean base, with a few swirls of egg white. Scallions on top were more than a garnish, providing a savory counterpoint to the sweetness. Well above average. Egg Roll (on the combo): I have to admit, there are times I'm not fully certain on whether an egg roll filling is celery, cabbage, or a mix. This was NOT one of those times. The celery brigade can rejoice, as this one goes well past "celery forward" and onto "celery in your face," and I'm talking more in your face than an Elaine Benes Christmas card. Dark green, thick chunks, all with some crunch, and fully loaded. Baby shrimp and pork can also be found lurking, but this is all about the dominant celery. The wrapper brought a bit of greasiness (though within tolerance) but a strong, pleasant flavor as well. This unique egg roll bordering on subgum-in-a-shell is an absolute must-try, and I liked it to an extent, but wouldn't want it regularly. It's an acquired taste, so it's tough to score: overall, probably average, but a really fascinating average. Pork Fried Rice: A little dry in spots but dark of color with flavor to match and an acceptable amount of pork, onion, and bean sprouts. Above average. Very enjoyable meal, good food, different food, and a place I'm eager to revisit. Fairhaven is just over the bridge from New Bedford and boasts some stunning works of architecture in its town hall, Millicent Library, and Unitarian Memorial Church, all right around the corner from Wah May and not to be missed if you're into beautiful historical buildings.

I was a little shocked by the price of sesame chicken, but honestly don't do take out Chinese often and they seem on par with every other spot nearby (upon doing my research). My order had a ton of chicken! I was pleased! I do wish it came with more rice tho. I ended up making more at home because there was so much chicken i got 3 meals out of it. Everyone inside is always super nice. They are speedy with their pickup orders too which i so appreciated. They def run an efficient business! It's cute on the outside too!
