Came to 1-800-Lucky to check out the establish. After checking out all the food stalls we decided to order from Lotus and Yip. While the menu was underwhelming, the soft shell crab bun stood out. So we ordered one to try. Other things on the menu are over priced dim sum. Coming from LA, Inhabe my fair share of Chinese food. However, the soft shell crab bun was actually very flavorful. The crab was fried very well, comes along with a spicy mayo sauce which I thought kinda overpowered the taste of the soft shell crab. My wife's Asian and we usually spend a few weeks out of the year in Hong Kong and while this is not the same quality as the real stuff it's pretty darn good for a food court in America. The employees at YIP's are super lazy and disrespectful. They sit with their legs on the counter and don't even care to look, greet the customers much less sell food. Owner of this establishment need to make improvements. This 1-800 lucky cafeteria is a hype rather then good food. Food are mediocre and expensive. When your order is ready you head back to the stall for pick up. Its simple and great! I tried their shrimp shumai: ground shrimp in a dumpling wrapper and steamed. Really good dim sum, but with Wynwood pricing. We ordered 4 containers of dim sum (12 pieces) and it served well as a snack for 3 people. Total was $27. Soup dumplings had a good amount of soup with excellent flavor. There was a hint of ginger in the taste, which I usually don't notice in a soup dumpling. I don't particularly love ginger but it was great in this dumpling. Shrimp dumplings and siu mai were standard. Would recommend coming here! read more

First of all this is not a restaurant where they serve your table. You have to order your food in different vendors in one place. Think like food trucks in a garage. Anyway Every basket has 3 dumplings and the price like 6 dollars per basket. The whole experience was not so good because no one explains you how everything works! & when finally you know that you have to order at their stand you have to tip them as if you where served, & when you paying is set up to tip the order guy @ 20% for nothing & so uncomfortable because they are watching you like a hawk. I absolutely love dim sum! Their selection was small, but everything was hot and very delicious. The location is very nice and trendy but you pay a heftier price tag for it definitely. On a Friday night around 8pm it wasn't overly packed and we found seats quickly. My group and I decided to try every stand in 1-800-lucky. We ended up getting appetizers such as the steamed buns and bubble milk teas. I like how it came out fresh and it wasn't as long of a wait. I tried the bubble milk tea without the tapioca because I feel like it tastes too dense with the tea. I think the bubble tea was average, it tasted more watered down then the actual tea.. however, you can still tell that the tea was made fresh and not from powder so it really exemplifies the texture of the how milk teas are usually made. The steamed buns we got were the bbq pork bun and other steamed buns that tasted pretty good. I'm giving it four stars because even though there weren't a lot of choices to choose from, the main dishes were displayed in which you'd prefer those specific ones. Also, the steam buns and dumplings were a little pricey ranging from $7-10 for a small portion. The service was fast and accommodating, and I like how the staff was so friendly. read more

Soup dumpling is more on the sweet side and the skins are thicker than compared to authentic ones- but not that bad. Shrimp dumping are good but it's not a whole shrimp- they are rough chopped. I just attended the grand opening to YIP, Wynwood's newest restaurant inside the 1-800-LUCKY Asian Smorgasburg featuring a concentration of Asian Eateries, ranging from Chinese Dim Sum, Cantonese BBQ, Vietnamese Bahn Mi Sandwiches, Japanese Ramen and Sushi Bowls. Yip offers hot and freshly made dim sum, a style of Chinese cuisine prepared as small bite-sized portions of food served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. The majority of the dishes are steamed which is great as you know it will be healthy and low on the calories. Although Yip offers a limited menu, the restaurant decided to take a strong stance on quality over quantity. This place offers a variety of steamed buns such as cha siu bao (a steamed bun filled with sweet and savory barbeque pork), Har Gao (steamed jumbo shrimp dumplings), Siu Mai (shrimp and pork dumplings topped with capelin roe), Soup Dumplings (dumpling filled with pork and savory soup), among other dishes. In addition to steamed dishes, they also offer a handful of crispy fried dishes including soft shell crab, crispy shrimp balls, shrimp eggplant and vegetable spring rolls.
