One of my favorite coffee shops in sd! My go to order is the Cold brew lemonade, this is blended but lighter than a frap! Super refreshing and energizing. Stumbled across Yipao while passing through Harbor Drive. There were tons of other food tents as well on a Sunday afternoon. We wanted something refreshing to quench our thirst while eating our way through the food market. We ordered a passionfruit juice. It was sweet and sour to our linking with a lot of passionfruit flavor. It was also offered as a smoothie but probably wouldn't pair well with passionfruit. The coffee is good! Unfortunately the service is not. I asked the barista very politely if it was possible that my drink be remade because it was extremely sweet? I thought, why not just ask since I paid money for it and I'd like to enjoy it. It wouldn't have bothered me if she kindly said no. I don't expect every coffee shop to remake drinks if it's not in their business model. But she gave me a very rude look and with an attitude she said "I told you it was sweet , I can add more milk" I kindly said no thanks and walked away. My boyfriend's drink was great though. Yippee! Yipao Coffee is in the house with their delicious single source Columbian coffee. I had a cafe au lait and toast with avocado, salted corn, queso fresco, and micro greens for $7. The au lait was $3. The coffee was terrific. It was smooth and rich and offered subtle chocolate and fruit flavors. The toast came on an artisan square bread. The avocado spread was tasty, the corn had good texture, and the queso fresco was light and flavorful. It was a good combination of flavors. The also offer locally baked goods. They are set up behind their future brick and motor. It's a comfortable set with chairs and tables, and benches with little tables nearby. They also offer Wi-Fi, so if you want surf the net and relax in the shade or sun drinking your favorite coffee brew, it's doable here! read more

While heading to lunch, I was immediately drawn to this coffee counter facing the street. If you have been timid about outdoor dining like me, service at a window like this is a nice way to ease yourself back in. I opted for a decaf cortado over ice. The combination of coffee and milk in this ratio was perfect and didn't require the addition of any additional sugar to take the bitterness out of the coffee. The ice drink was a nice refreshing treat which you could enjoy in a nearby park or at one of the cute tables right outside on the sidewalk. I would definitely come back next time I am walking through the neighborhood, or even take a detour to visit! read more

My husband stopped for coffee after brunch and I wondered why he was waiting so long. The beans were being freshly ground and brewed! The beans are Columbian and he gave me a taste. It was very smooth, mellow and had a distinct taste I had never experienced before. They have baked goods available and we learned the bagels are locally baked daily. Reading these reviews, I think we came on an off day and I ordered the wrong thing. There was only one person working on a Sunday morning and the line was slammin' - I felt so bad for the employee! I got a cold brew with almond milk and the flavor just wasn't there for me. I'm not sure if it was watery or overly milky or what, but I didn't taste that strong Colombian coffee flavor that I was expecting. For a pretty pricey cup of coffee I was bummed. My partner got an iced mocha that was very good albeit light on the espresso as well. I'll definitely have to come back and re try :) read more

Hands down, my favorite specialty Colombian coffee! not only because I'm Colombian and I know the quality is the best, but the staff are the friendliest, too! Their drink menu is pretty nice with lots of options even for non-coffee lovers. When I don't feel like having coffee, I'd go for the juices, Lulo juice is my favorite (Colombian exotic fruit, perfect for the summer time) but their Capuccino is really good and art latte is always on point. They also have vegan pastries and VEGAN empanadas from Kairoa Brewery Co. Thank you Yipao, for helping me get through my mornings with my Tulipán coffee bag, it's my favorite! read more

Ended up chatting with the owner for a bit and shared our love of his hometown of Bogota. I actually recommended him a coffee shop to go to in his home town! It looks like Yipao is expanding into the building next door but keeping their cool patio. Cute lil place. It's one of those little coffee places you gotta try. The guy who made my drink also drew a rose for me which was super nice! The cortado was very smooth and rich...not too strong and just right. They have a nice little seating arrangement in the shade where you can chit chat and people watch and enjoy your cup of coffee. Yipao has the best coffee in my neighborhood, which has several great coffee shops. I'm very blessed to have them within walking distance because the espresso and cold brew are amazing. My go-to is the Colombian Mocha. It has a nice spice and is not too sweet. I also love to get the nitro cold brew on a warm day and the mochas and lattes are delicious. The prices are comparable to other coffee shops in the area and you getting higher-quality Colombian beans. To top it off the employees are always super friendly and fast. You can't pass this spot up if you are in University Heights! read more

I tried their cold brew and matcha latte (both with almond milk) and they were both really good! The cold brew wasn't too acidic and came on this really cute cup. The matcha latte wasn't too sweet and I could taste both the almond milk and the matcha, which was great! If you lived in San Diego you'd come here all the time! read more
