Went here after another place could not accommodate us for dessert. I have to say "WOW' on their toppings bar, there was so much to choose from. And it was all nice and neat and fresh looking. I did not have any yogurt but everyone else pretty much did and I forgot to take pics of their yogurt creations. I did take a few bites and that mango frozen yogurt was delish!! Definitely going to have to come back here to get a treat for myself!!

Dessert in Virginia Beach, Virginia... After lunch, my friend really wanted to go to Yo Mama. I was stuffed, but I wanted to check out this place that she really likes. Yo Mama is run by a very polite Korean gentleman. He sure kept himself busy by refilling the toppings containers, wiping down the tables, mopping the floor, working the cash register, making our smoothies, etc. My friend said that he considered other franchises, but decided to open his own place so that he could make his own ideas a reality. We noticed more Asian flavors such as taro soft serve and different types of popping boba - besides little mochi balls. My friend's husband and I are lactose intolerant, so, we both got a Strawberry Dragon Fruit smoothie. My friend helped herself to the soft serve and toppings. She tried to get it free by guessing the weight within 0.53 ounces... Shucks! She was close! Haha! The decor is colorful and the environment is clean and bright. We wouldn't hesitate to return because the prices are the best in the area!

First timer here! Was pleasantly surprised by the vairety of the place, it's almost like an Asian-American mini mart infused with froyo. Super cute store, lots and lots of topping choices for froyo, more options than Sweet Frog and The Skinny Dip for sure. Upon walking in, you'll see they sell different kinds of ramen on the left and drinks. They also make cakes with froyo and sell pre-packaged cups of froyo in their fridge. Service was quiet but friendly, they seemed to enjoy working there. They were playing Bluey on the TV, as this store is clearly kid-friendly. Apparently if you guess the exact weight of your cup, you get it for free! Definitely would be back, next time I'll take a closer look at some other trinkets and plushies they sell too. Only one star off because I was a bit surprised at the price of my cup of froyo and my bf's milkshake but that's life!

They really need to train their employees better! Stopped by this afternoon while in town to get some froyo. My wife saw the "snowyo" sign and wanted to try it. The employees said they were new and were never trained how to make it. He offered to make a snow cone and then she could add ice cream to it. Well, he ended up filling up almost an entire large froyo cup with red colored shaved ice, leaving maybe 20% room left for her to add ice cream/toppings. Since the cup was nearly full, it ended up costing nearly $14 just for that one! Add in my modest cup of froyo and our tab was $24!! What really pissed me off was after we paid, I noticed a sign near the menu saying a snow cone was only $2.50!! They need to train their employees better so they actually know how to make things on the menu instead of letting them make whatever they want. We basically paid for a snow cone by weight!! Pretty sure a snoyo is supposed to be a little shaved ice with a little froyo or ice cream mixed in... I do not recommend this place at all and definitely don't recommend getting anything on the menu besides froyo and toppings because you're able to make it yourself and control the weight/price!

I just found this place near my house! What a great surprise. They have everything you could want for an afternoon treat. They have Boba, snow-cones, cold /hot drinks, self serve yogurt bar, Mochi and best of all...instant Ramen. Everything is fresh and very clean. Plenty of areas to chill a minute and cartoons for the kids.

Friendly staff, clean location. I admit they are often playing Peppa Pig on a TV for kids, but they do have a nice seating area with a mix of chairs and couches. They often have the radio playing with Peppa Pig and I admit the overlapping can be a bit odd, but since I'm usually chatting with a friend, it isn't too jarring. They have boba, smoothies and snow cones, but the star is the froyo. They rotate flavors weekly, I'm a basic witch and like the vanilla, which is always on tap. My friends favorite is the watermelon, with strawberry a close second. He often buys the prepacked pints to take home. I like the toppings on offer (fruit, nuts, boba, brownies and more). And when we want froyo, we head to Yo Mama.

Despite the good reviews, I don't really have much of anything good to say. The only good thing I can say is that the female working was friendly and quick to get my order completed. Upon walking in, there were two customers or what looked to be friends of the female working that were not wearing masks. Despite feeling uncomfortable with the lack of health precautions, I placed my order anyway. I ordered the taro coconut milk tea. The tea was extremely powdery, over sweetened, and the boba was hard in the center. To top it off, the cup was almost all ice. Even if I had enjoyed the tea, I was barely able to get any. I love to support local businesses but sadly, I was turned off by my experience here.

*YO* Mama? Well let me tell you that *MY* momma loves this place and I can understand why. The froyo is fresh but the key is that the place is clean. Clean, clean, clean. The staff does an amazing job at keeping the toppings well stocked and very clean. If someone spills, they are on it to pick up the dropped bits and keep the toppings full to the top. The fruit is fresh, too. Mango, which is something I don't see often at a top-yourself place. Lots of dry toppings and that includes my favorites. I like nuts on my frozen yogurt. Salty and sweet. Yum. Me and my momma will keep coming back to Yo Mama.

Yo Mama! Gotta love that name lol. I come here for the bubble tea (boba). So delicious and so many different flavors to choose from, my fave being the taro milk tea. And the boba itself is always the perfect chewy texture. I haven't gotten frozen yogurt from here, but in passing, the toppings bar has always looked very clean and well stocked. And you have the option of guessing the weight of your froyo, if you're close, you get it for free! They also have a large variety of instant noodles and bottled drink options. The store itself has plenty of seating if you wanna just chill and eat/drink and all of the tables looked pretty clean. Tip: check Groupon before you come; they frequently have specials for this place!

Frozen yogurt with fresh fruit and Thai tea boba!

This is my favorite frozen yogurt place in Virginia Beach. They always have great flavors like lychee and mango, and their fruit is always fresh (unlike the mushy strawberries or canned stuff they serve at places like Skinny Dip) They even have board games out for you to play with if you're with a group of people, which is a plus :) Their bubble tea, on the other hand, isn't very good (aside from their Thai tea!) The boba is very inconsistent. I've had it undercooked some days, and way too soft others. The last time I had it, it had a strange coffee taste, which was pretty gross in my white peach drink! It was also very milky, not the smoothie/slushie I was expecting.

Boring. Period. The flavors are pretty weak, the toppings aren't that great, and the store is not kept very well. Pass on this.

Cute place. Nice people. Seems family owned. Not a lot of room inside but the yogart was good, and topping fresh.

And in some cases, folks would eat in their vehicle. That was the case when I went here for the 1st time. Fast forward to now, I happened to run into The SnoBall Shop when I picked up food from a food truck nearby. Let's see how everything went. After leaving a food truck right across the street, I headed here to order a snoball which I haven't had over a year. Just like the 1st time, you head to the front to place your order. Beforehand, I took a look at all the flavors available and chose white chocolate. I also chose marshmallow fluff for the topping. Overall, the snoball was good. The white chocolate flavor was present throughout and having the marshmallow fluff as a topping and in the middle helped with each serving. The snoball did melt due to the weather outside, but it was totally fine. Once again, the SnoBall Shop came through for yours truly. I'll definitely stop by the next time I'm in the area. Till next time :)

I opted for the kiddie size snowball which was a good portion. It includes 2 flavors, but I chose add-ons - whip cream and tajin and added vanilla ice cream at additional cost. I'm glad he informed me that due to the kiddie size, adding ice cream would increase the height and most likely have the snoball spill over. He offered to place the ice cream on the side to avoid spillage which I greatly appreciated. They have a large variety of flavors and the reason for the 3.5 stars was due to the taste. I had the passion fruit and tiger's blood. I think the tiger's blood is a sugar free flavor with splenda, so that may have been the reason why I wasn't loving it. I did finish the entire thing though. Haha.. I've just had better tasting at other local businesses. It's located in Primrose shopping center near the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. There's plenty of parking available and they have 3 vibrantly colored tables for seating. I'm sure their presence brings a lively, fun vibe to the shopping center that's in dire need of an update.

Stopped in after a quick trip to NC and thought that it would be nice to grab a snowball. Things that I love about Penguin's Snowball is that it is a locally owned establishment to grab a fun summer time treat and it is in a great location. Also, if memory serves me correctly it is owned by a veteran. I come here several times throughout the summer months and I love the different options, my favorite being the Piccadilly. Today I watched as the young lady, who appeared to be working alone, made snowballs with one glove on her right hand and no glove on her left hand. I stood and watched as she made two snowballs and then realized that she needed more snow. She adds more snow to both cups and proceeds to push the snow with both the gloved and ungloved hand. I had to walk away. Thank you but no thank you. Just doesn't seem sanitary to me. Again, I love Penguin's but this was a hard pass for me.

She met me there and was excited for me to taste what she's been loving--but unfortunately, it just didn't hit for me. I ordered the Watermelon Margarita--a combo of two flavors in one snowball. Right off the bat, it had way too much syrup and not enough ice. It felt more like a slushy than a snowball, and the texture just didn't give me that classic soft, fluffy shave ice vibe I was expecting. On the flip side, my friend ordered a flavor that had ice cream in the center, and she felt hers didn't have enough syrup--so it ended up being kind of dry. Between the two of us, the experience felt really inconsistent. One was too wet, one was too dry. Just not balanced. I really wanted to love this place--especially since the menu is fun and nostalgic--but for me, the flavor-to-ice ratio was off. I probably wouldn't return unless they made some adjustments. That said, staff was friendly and the colors were cute--so points for that. Just not a repeat for me
