The lady was very nice and provided great service. I believe I saw two people in the kitchen, and the food came out really fast. We ordered the deluxe CA, Mexican and super CA rolls. The rolls were huge compared to other sushi spots I've eaten at. Usually I can eat two rolls, but with one, I was already full. First time here so I was asking about the menu items, I didn't understand the menu selections at first- guy started raising his voice, clearly he wasn't happy being there, or he was having a not so good day. I love this secret sushi spot! It's between Walmart & Home Depot in the back of this Massive Parking Lot is Yo Sushi . I have to tell you it's one of my favorite places for fresh sushi . Very time I have to drive my wife to work in Walnut Creek & back to Pinole I have to stop at this Sushi Restaurant! It only has 8-9 tables for eat in. Like McDonald's with Sushi. Phoned in my order, picked it up 20 min later. Service was fine. Just picking up a take out order so the lack of ambiance was not a concern. Just an observation about the lack thereof. Counter staff was friendly but look like he was 20 and might not have even known where Japan is. Amazing number of choices with close to 100 different rolls and lots of other items too. Went to my destination. Opened the package. Did not even look appetizing which is not a good. Rice looked gray. To say it was mediocre would be being kind. One thing it is is inexpensive. Sooo, if you want a lot of food for a little, this is for you. Not for me. Wonderful small sushi joint. Very yummy. Fairly priced. Awesome staff, very welcoming. Lots of photos on the wall with pictures of all the food options which is nice so you know what you are getting. Is this a super fancy gourmet sushi place with fish flown in from Japan with high prices? No. But it is a satisfying Japanese restaurant with plenty of options s for everyone. It's been awhile since I've been back to Yo Sushi in Martinez, next to Walmart and Home Depot. Yo Sushi before the lockdown, was mostly a blend between a takeout/sit in type of place. What I mean by this, is that it's not a place you'd go to necessarily for the ambience to sit down and eat, but it does have seating available for if you want to eat there. You would bus your own tray, and what not, so not a nice sit down place if you were looking for that, but not the worst place for a sit down eating meal. Their menus are all posted next to, and above the counter. One significant change since the last time I've been back is mainly in regards to the prices of everything. I used to eat at Yo Sushi all the time partly because of how affordable everything was. Now, not that it's very expensive, but it's basically about par as a typical sit down sushi place. Of course, not that this really makes a difference currently. But for the price, it may seem a bit pricey for what is mainly a takeout place. With that being said, the food here still the same, as far as what I ordered today. Got something simple, and went with the chicken teriyaki lunch combo, which includes a California roll. Also got a mild spicy tuna, which is my typical roll order back in the day. All tasted good, and the portions were alright, and probably the same as before. All in all, will probably be back in the future, and may not wait as long as this previous period of not visiting here. Will be interested to test out the bigger rolls to see if the quality is still the same with those too, as they do have some tasty special rolls. read more

Came in today and it was very slow, cashier was very nice. I got my food fairly quick, but something was off today. The shrimp tempura dipping sauce tasted like strong vinegar which is weird because I always get this dish. The california rolls tasted like they changed the mayo or something they use. The portions are small the soy sauce and Sriracha do not taste right. Order at the counter, sit down and your dish is served to your table within 10 minutes. That was my experience at this place. The menu is pretty extensive and intimidating there on the wall, but I ordered the bowl of chicken saimin and my mom got the saimin bowl no meat and extra green onions. I was pleased with the serving size of chicken saimin, it was very filling and the broth was flavorful and not at all salty like I would have expected. The sashimi was soooooooooo fresh and didn't taste fishy at all. I am always a little cautious trying new places that serve fish, but trust my mom's guidance. Good job! read more

To start out with, I was hungry so I decided to go to Yo Sushi. The place is a hole in the wall and a little run down. I didn't know if they were open or close but the door was open so I went in a called to see if some would answer.. Finally after a few minutes someone came for the back and she asked me if I was getting something to go and I said no.. so, she said seat were I want but you need to order first at the register. I asked a few questions and proceeded to order my usual it was a little pricey, but I was hungry and a bit embarrassed to leave. The food came stages the salad, gyoza and California roll were very good but the Chicken teriyaki wasn't that great. The woman that helped me was very nice. Yo Sushi is one of our go-to places when we want sushi because they are close by and quick. As an added bonus, we can order online and just pick it up. There restaurant is tiny and looks like a hole in the wall with only 5 tables, but they have a huge selections of rolls. Yes, many of the options are the same selection of fish and add-ins but in different combinations, but that is like most places. Our favorite roll, and probably one of the main reasons we always come back is their OMG roll. It is a California roll topped with spicy tuna and deep fried unagi. The unagi is what makes this roll delicious. My family loved unagi in general, but sometimes I find it too mushy. Having it deep fried gives it a crunch. I also like the Fiona which is wrapped in soybean paper and the Lemon Salmon which is a California roll topped with salmon and lemon. We also get the tempura shrimp on occasion which is nice and crunchy. This place may not have the highest quality fish, but for a tiny place, it is still good quality. Quite comparable to larger sit down places. Since I have yet to find another place which serves the deep fried unagi roll, we will continue to come back. read more

For a small and unassuming business, this place consistently cranks out some very high quality food. They have pictures of every roll on the wall which makes it easier to order. I usually get the Two Item combo ($13.50) with Chicken Katsu and California roll and my other half usually gets the sushi combo ($13.95). The customer service is always really great and friendly. I'm a slave to sushi!! Haha Yo sushi hits different. This location is small but lacks a big punch. It's been a minute since the food tasted and looked as fresh as the pictures on the wall. Colorful, shiny, tasty. Customer service was great and quite helpful. You are not able to eat inside just yet but the packaging is well and held up great on my 15 mins travel back home.
