First of all, this place is one of the only ramen places in the Concord/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area to serve vegetarian/vegan options. It is located near downtown Concord with a parking garage nearby that is free to park in if you don't want to park on the street. Adequate amount of seating indoors as well if you'd like to dine in. As for the ramen, I felt pretty satisfied with the size of my bowl. For around $16, the veggie ramen comes with a generous amount of noodles, tofu slices, kikurage mushroom, corn, bamboo shoots. The spice level of the broth can also be adjusted. I got the mild, but honestly probably could have gotten the medium since I could barely taste the spice. No issues with the quality of the food and the flavor. The serving size of the ramen and BBQ chicken plate were huge, plenty of protein. The only thing we wished was different was the chicken rice bowl, which was 90% rice, 5% chicken, and 5% veggies. Other than the one concern this place was good. Both of us ordered Medium spicy, which ran a little mild but was still very good. I loved my Seafood Ramen: The Shrimp were perfect, scallops weren't rubbery, really liked the sweet corn. I've never had scallops in ramen before but really liked it! The broth wasn't too rich, and the noodles weren't soggy - I don't know how chewy they're supposed to be but mine were much better than anything I'd make at home. The service was extremely fast, which is great if you're running late to a movie or just don't like sitting around. Free chilled water was also nice, though they do offer a cooler full of other beverages/sodas. It's kind of a catch-all place (kid-friendly), so don't expect a quiet date night here. So be prepared to take a little walk. The staff was nice and helped us promptly as we walked in. The atmosphere is kind of bland, only 10 tables or so inside, 4 of which are along side a bench against the wall. The location is a little small for how much business I believe they do. The food was good, not the best ramen, but certainly not bad at all. I'd have the tonkatsu ramen again, but I would probably try something else to explore the menu. This place gets lots of orders to go, but there are plenty of seats to eat in. The ramen here is solid, but I probably would not wait in a line for this place. It pains me to give a 3 star after coming here so often and loving it. Placed a to-go order - 1 Tonkotsu Medium and 1 Miso Mild. Paid, grabbed the closed bag, and drove home. Got home and opened up the bag only to see they have us 1 Seafood ramen instead of the Tonkotsu. I gave it a try, it had 3 pieces of shrimp, 3 small pieces of scallop, corn and the normal toppings as their ramens do. I figure it's gonna taste delicious because I love seafood, but no, it wasn't as enjoyable as the other. Scallops were pretty chewy, and the shrimp had the freezer burn taste, blah. I made sure to support the business a lot during the pandemic when it was To Go orders only. That's why I'm a bit disappointed at the amount of broth they give for to go orders. Ramen For Dunch! I finally checked out Ramen 101 after reading many good reviews and recommendations. We happen to be in the area so we went for it. We went there for lunch-dinner, around 330. Is there another term for lunch-dinner, like brunch for breakfast-lunch? For this review let's call it, "dunch". Hahaha! So we ordered a Black Garlic Ramen and a BBQ chicken and beef rice plate so we can check out 2 items in one visit. The Ramen broth was a bit thicker than normal which I like, but flavorful. The pork belly was not as tender as I would have like, but the noodles were cooked just right, not soggy or tough. So, the ramen was definitely better than the one in Veranda. As for the rice plate, it was delicious. The large piece of BBQ chicken was so tender that I rarely used my plastic knife to slice it. It was well marinated and perfectly cooked and not dry. As for the BBQ beef, oh wow, sliced-thin but tender and tasty, and well marinated on the sweet side. Overall, the recommendations are good and the reviews are fair. Conveniently located in an area with lots of great spots to eat and shop at and also a parking lot! Some seating inside - they do ask for vaccination to sit inside! This is my go to ramen in the area. During winter and cold afternoons, you can find me here! The interior is clean and the staff is friendly. There are several parking spaces in the area including the parking structure. Inside is a bit small but I've always found sitting. I guess it depends of what time you arrive. If you are coming with a large party, arrive early. The Black Garlic Ramen is my favorite! Garlic lovers this is your dish! It has whole garlic but it is cooked in a way that it is not overpowering. You get that good state of eating garlic but without the aftertaste that last for days. The garlic is a bit sweet. I just love it! The broth is flavorful, not salty nor bland. It is just right! This dish comes with pork. My husband's go to is the Chicken Ramen! I was a bit hesitant the first time he got it. I thought it was going to be meh but it is amazing! Lots of chicken and the flavor is just right! Second best if I'm not getting the black garlic ramen. We've also gotten items from their BBQ menu and they improved them so much since we first try them! The Chicken Katsu and Chicken BBQ are delicious! Both dishes come with macaroni salad if you order the plate. For the light eater there are bowls and those come with rice, veggies and your choice of meat. The plate is worth it in my opinion because they give you a lot of food. I usually share it with my daughter. It is good enough for two people. Plus I love the macaroni salad and I can't skip that! The Takoyaki is the only appetizer I've tried here and I love it! They are also a lot of options if you are looking for different appetizers.
