Do or do not, there is no try. That's Larry's approach to building the most amazing rock crawlers, weekend rigs, or even just keeping that dusty Camry running past 300k miles. In my case Larry, his son, and his crew, got to play around with a brand new 2021 4runner Off Road Premium and do their magic - and they did not disappoint. They recommended and installed a toytech 3in lift and did the BMC themselves (they are a FULL Fab shop), threw on some RCI sliders, a SSO lopro grill with wench, mounted and wired lights, and set me up with a tricked out switch-pro install (see pics). They also fixed some shoddy electrical from the guy who did my sound system. So they worked on my car. The whole process was stanoffish in nature, kept reminding them to check a certain thing. They insisted added a repair not need at that time no discount whatsoever for several repairs done. Charges top dollar. Not very honest about repair costs better toavoid 2k$ over budget . Overall a headache to get car back with NOW with blown headlights fuses I had to fix. Better off avoiding if possible.......Yuck! read more

Hi, I got rear ended in my 2014 TACO which caused like $3200 dollars damage. Larry & his outstanding team did all the ground work with the insurance adjuster saving me money and most importantly fixed my truck to my standards which are incredibly high. This shop "(PAUL)" installed Magnuson supercharger on my truck which turned out amazing! Larry is a top tier mechanic and an all around good dude. I have an overland setup on my 2022 Tacoma. His son, Paul did incredible work including installation of a steel front and rear bumper, body mount relocation, fender trim, and some electrical work. The welds are factory quality. The work was done on time. Communication was good. The price is what you'd expect from true craftsmen. You get what you pay for and these guys know what they're doing. A few things to take into account when visiting these guys: - They don't only do lifts, so don't be concerned that if you drop off your Corolla its going to come back jacked up on 35's (unless if you're into that kind of stuff.. I won't judge, but he could probably make it happen if you asked him). - He uses genuine parts. In other words, things are going to get expensive. If you want to go the cheap route (which is what I did with my CV axles), he will gladly do the install. Just don't be pissed if your car breaks again in 6 months. You can't expect the cook to make you a steak when all you have is Veggie patties in the fridge. - they weld! Custom roll cage for your 4runner? Done! Custom bed for the Tundra? Done! Want that Taco turned into a Tacolicious Limo? I dunno, they they have the tools to make it happen! - His hourly rate is higher than most, but he books at a minimum of 2-weeks out.... In other words, he's worth every friggin penny and everyone that comes to him knows it. - Barbara, his assistant, is a hoot. Take the time to get to know her, but keep it at a maximum of 2 minutes. In the beginning Larry is super into helping. To basically get your money. After that it's a freaking rat race. Yes, they know a thing or two, and they've been in the business for a long time. But unless you're in their circle. There's zero research on trying to find the problem, after you've given your money and they are done. It's basically like they are avoiding responsibility. Last year got new Toytec suspension set installed from them with a diff drop. Drive off, and there were clicks heard when I turned. Etc. First off, keep in mind I live in Petaluma. So I had to drive to Santa Rosa and drop my truck off for the day or pickup the next day, Ubering back home etc. A total of 6 trips there. Within an 8 month period. Anyhow, Larry heard the clicks and concludes that it's just the skid plates and everything attached together. It's nothing. Then a light clunk starts in the left front suspension. Took it in 3 more times for him to tell me it's a bushing. On top of that, the clicks have gotten louder. I'm told it's just the metal on the skids shifting, and with the diff drop everything is connected blah blah. LMFAO. And that's normal. Fast forward more wasted money with Uber and then not actually checking where the clicks are coming from, etc. Larry files for the warranty with Toytec. Then I'm told he will call back next Tuesday, to follow up about warranty. I didn't hear from Larry the next week on Tuesday. I figured he's busy I'll call Friday etc. I leave a message with the young girl doing reception. I get a message Monday after weekend on my voice mail, to not call so many times from Larry, that they are busy, and that there's problems at Toytec and he will call me. The message was rude and as if I was being rude checking back in. About my rig that I paid for, from work done by them, that wasn't done right. Go figure. To add to that. When I called, the new young girl they have for reception, is also extremely rude and needs to learn customer service skills. Seriously, take the tampon out, take some happy pills or something. Answer the phone with how can I help you, not, "Hello, what do you want?" in some arsehole demeanor tone of voice. Sounded like she needs sleep, needs an attitude check, maybe missed out on her woke vitamins etc. So, basically I'm pissed off. Everything has been in circles for months, about 6+ months now. Now it's been over 7 weeks, no warranty replacement info. I also have a travel photo assignment coming up. My work where I make money using my truck driving in the mountains on backroads. Fast forward again. I find a reliable 4x4 shop in Sacramento area. We rip all the Toytec crap out and replace. I sell the Toytec crap where Larry and Toytec have never gotten back to me. Then the new place checks where the clicks are coming from. There were various bolts and all kinds of crap related to the diff drop Larry did that were loose. That's why things were shifting. LOL. All Larry and crew had to do, all those 6, 7 times I went there..... They just needed to pull the skids off, and then look at everything underneath to make sure they tightened everything, and crap wasn't bouncing around and so on. That's it. Discovered and fixed within 45 minutes by the shop in Sacramento. To sum this up. Yodaman is a waste of time and money. In fact the way I look at it, they owe me 360 in Uber rides + WASTED Gas. Seriously. All those times, and they never took the skids off to even check. WTF were you guys doing? I leave my truck there, and you just drive it around to check? Playing with each others dikks? LMFAO. "Leave your truck, we'll go over everything." Come back next day. "We drove around, and there's nothing wrong." LOL You drove it around? What about checking the work you first did? Arsehats. As for the place in Sacramento. That is the only place I use from now on. Stand up employees, respectful, and they actually check everything. They actually take things apart to look, and do it right away. Great company, great service, no BS. "Leave your truck, and it will be fixed, no problems." Come back, DONE. Larry is a nice guy, yes. Knowledgeable. Things complete? No. His team, or whoever worked on the truck/checked IS NEGLIGENT. Unfortunately I know 3 other friends with rigs that are also disappointed with Yodaman's work. The best in the game. Took Larry ten minutes to figure out where my mysterious noises were coming from. Did the 60k service for almost half of what I was quoted at the dealership. My son brought his 4-runner with some issues and with a brief investigation his vehicle was diagnosed. They gave him a great deal and fixed his vehicle up perfectly. If you have a Toyota then this is the place to go. Great customer service and knowledgeable folks. Just make sure to ask questions if you do not know something . I first started hearing of this place last year from a few random people that I talked with about my toyotas. I have a 1986 toyota 4runner 4cyl turbo which is a somewhat rare model. I've had trouble finding particular parts for my 4Runner at all the chain auto parts store, even the Toyota dealership doesn't make much for my model so I went to yodaman. I met the owner, Larry, on my first visit. He knew right away what parts I needed and more as I described them. He also gave me some tips n tricks on how to remove and install what I needed. He then took me on a tour of his garage and all the projects they work on. I was amazed with all the custom work they do and how knowledgable him and his staff were. I came a few more times for more parts and they more than accommodating. I highly recommend this place for custom builds, repairs and parts. My car battery, starter, or alternator was glitching out on me while I was in Rosa and eventually one of the above went out one morning. I had a friend help jump it, while the other called Yodaman to ask if we could come by for a replacement. They said to come on by and they'll check it out... Almost as soon as we got there, Larry came out and looked at my new baby, even though the shop looked super busy!! He was able to diagnose the problem (battery, thank goodness!) and was able to give me a completely reasonable price for the job!! Will ALWAYS go back to Larry when I can. Also, I have a friend who frequently gets off-road parts installed and the occasional maintenance job done here, who won't go to anyone else! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE ANY VEHICLE TO THIS DUMP, I paid for a basic tune up and a cv joint replacement and unknowingly ended up receiving more problems when the vehicle was returned to me, an OBNOXIOUS LOUD whistling noise that was NEVER previously there and he had no idea what it was or how to fix it and refused to do any further work to fix the issue at that point. Said to me "just wait and see if it goes away, I don't know what it could be". You would think if you owned your own auto repair shop you would know how to fix and not further damage vehicles...I waited a while and the sound ceased to go away, so I took it back to inform him so he could fix the problem that he created. He EXTREMELY RUDELY refuses to work on my vehicle saying its past the warranty period on his work! It had been less than a month at that point!! HE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED HIS WARRANTY PERIOD FOR HIS WORK IS ONE YEAR!! This is how long he recommended to me to wait that long to see if the noise went away by it self... ENDED UP TAKING IT TO ANOTHER SHOP SHORTLY AFTER AND HAVING TO SPEND AN EXTRA 600 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE DAMAGE HE CAUSED ON MY VEHICLE FIXED!!! AND ENDED UP NEEDING A RETUNE BECAUSE IT WAS STILL OFF! Finally my car does not sound like somebody who does not know the 1st thing about working on cars or trucks was under my hood all afternoon.. This is only one of the issues that came with having him work on my vehicle. Large scratch down to the metal on the front drivers side of my vehicle that was not there before and was never mentioned until I found out about it later. And left the interior of my vehicle covered in grease and the carpet full of dirt. Normally I would never go out of my way to write a bad review but this surpasses my worst expectations regarding running a business. Extremely unprofessional.. To say the least, I WOULD NEVER EVEN RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY, I can't even sum up how terrible my experience was at yodaman... My 1996 4Runner engine died, needing to be rebuilt! My husband looked online & found Yodaman just down the road from my parents. He called first thing in the morning asking if he could talk with someone about getting a price on putting an engine in my 4Runner. The reception that answered the phone said that she would pass the message on & would have someone call us back. My the next morning after not hearing from anyone, my husband called again. He asked if they we're to busy, we could go somewhere else. The receptionist assure him that they weren't that busy & someone would call. During his 3rd attempt, my husband was told that someone would call him by Friday at the latest, that was over a week ago and we still haven't heard a word from them. I have called several times for advice, and even if it means I won't be bringing my car in to him that time, he is still happy to teach me. This is a shop I can trust and will be bringing my car here every time I need help.
