She possesses a deep warmth and kindness. Laura exudes serenity. I appreciate her professionalism, vast knowledge and intuitive care. I woke yesterday in awful pain with a severe neck spasm. Much to my relief, I was given an appointment the same day. I had the good fortune of meeting Sundar for treatment. He first assessed my range of motion and knew immediately how best to address the spasm and pain. Suffice to say, I had a remarkable session with this extremely intuitive practitioner. He asked about the pressure, and was very sensitive to the pain and spasm I was experiencing. During the 90 minute session I would occasionally drift off. It was truly a transformative massage. I just never felt like I had accomplished proper training and frankly was afraid I'd hurt myself. Well..classes at Nueva Alma are so diverse and Erica (the owner of the studio) is hands on and has provided me and many students a yoga sanctuary. I've taken workshops, hung in poses on the only Iyengar Wall in Westchester, Chair Yoga where you learn how to properly align in poses you would normally do on the mat and boy you do feel a major difference...a must class for beginners. It's an all purpose Yoga and Wellness studio that is an asset to anyone wanting to take their first class or for the more experienced yogi...Namaste Update 10/9/18 It is now 8 months since I joined Nueva Alma and it has transformed my mind, body and soul...My Alma..Cliche but true..So much so that I am now doing my 200hr Teacher Training here. At Nueva Alma you come as you are...first timer...or not..size 2 or size 22...raven haired or a ginger with dreads...Roman Catholic or a Buddhist...in fact..one of my major mental kinks was being afraid of fitting in..of feeling awkward if I failed at a pose..being judged. CT Power Yoga is a truly special place - I was new to yoga in general and honestly quite skeptical…read moreof the whole thing beyond the chance for a sweaty work out - but the space that Aimee and Tim have created not only gives you a work out (and sweaty it is!) but also truly a wonderful community of teachers and others who attendee. The vibe is fun and energetic while still providing a sense of restoration and calming. I felt instantly welcomed when I first arrived. The classes are designed in a way that whether you are a beginner or someone that has done yoga forever - you are in the right place. In the 9 months or so that I have been going to CT Power Yoga I can feel myself expanding in the physical Yoga practice as well as connecting with myself and others better mentally. I truly fell in love with yoga - but really it was this place and this community - as I have tried 3 other studios while on vacation and left each one disappointed because it wasn't the same as I had back home. The formats of the classes are all a little different, some play music while others are more traditional and even once a week a class with hip-hop playing (trust me it just works). So try them all. And a big shout out to the teachers that work alongside of Aimee and Tim - they are a big part of why the place is great - with special shout outs to Marian and Dorian who are more than absolutely fabulous in all ways. I chose her because she can work inside my mouth and I  have TMJ issues (jaw popping, pain).  Francesca has not only extensive knowledge of anatomy, she is also intuitive and gentle, qualities I appreciate in someone who is working on my body. She reads signals easily and checks in to make sure the pressure is right for me.  Francesca also works with sound healing and I love her chanting.
