But I didn't let my self-doubt talk me out of it. Chris and David were incredibly supportive and answered any questions I had prior to class; they set me up with a mat, blocks, and blankets. As the class began, I followed along much better than I anticipated. With Chrissy's help, I was able to do things I didn't even know I was capable of. I felt so good at the end of this class. I intend to go back for more classes as soon as my schedule permits. This studio can accommodate the newest of beginners to those with years of practice. They provide a comfortable and knowledgeable space to help grow your yoga practice. Highly recommend.

I just never felt like I had accomplished proper training and frankly was afraid I'd hurt myself. Well..classes at Nueva Alma are so diverse and Erica (the owner of the studio) is hands on and has provided me and many students a yoga sanctuary. I've taken workshops, hung in poses on the only Iyengar Wall in Westchester, Chair Yoga where you learn how to properly align in poses you would normally do on the mat and boy you do feel a major difference...a must class for beginners. It's an all purpose Yoga and Wellness studio that is an asset to anyone wanting to take their first class or for the more experienced yogi...Namaste Update 10/9/18 It is now 8 months since I joined Nueva Alma and it has transformed my mind, body and soul...My Alma..Cliche but true..So much so that I am now doing my 200hr Teacher Training here. At Nueva Alma you come as you are...first timer...or not..size 2 or size 22...raven haired or a ginger with dreads...Roman Catholic or a Buddhist...in fact..one of my major mental kinks was being afraid of fitting in..of feeling awkward if I failed at a pose..being judged. Mental, physical, spiritual, religious, individual, communal etc. I signed up with the new student package-- I will be returning!

This studio prioritizes rigid policy over customer care, and I want to be specific so others can…read moremake an informed decision before booking. Their late policy is absolute: arrive even one minute past your class time and you will be locked out and charged -- no exceptions, including unforeseen circumstances. They do not answer their phone and do not accept voicemail, so there is no way to reach anyone in real time if something goes wrong. If you have time blindness, executive function challenges, ADHD, Cptsd, or a highly sensitive nervous system, this studio is not designed with you in mind. It is not trauma-informed, and the environment does not accommodate neurodivergence in any meaningful way. For those who need consistency and predictability, it's also worth knowing they have modified the traditional hot yoga sequence -- so what you practice here may not be what you expect. The waitlist system is also poorly communicated; you may not know you've been moved from a class you reserved until it's too late to plan around it. Beyond logistics, the atmosphere feels cold and unwelcoming -- though I'll leave it to others to determine how much of that is the studio versus the region. This studio is BUSINESS FOCUSED rather than CUSTOMER focused, which contributes to the stressed, unfriendly state of the world today. There are wonderful yoga communities out there that lead with warmth and genuine flexibility. This one, in my experience, is not among them.

My favorite part is the different types of classes you can take, so it's not just original hot yoga but other types as well along with HIIT of course! This makes it fun to switch it up and also take a couple of classes in a row if you wanted, since they schedule different ones back to back. Another hugeeeee plus for me is that they have early morning classes and late at night if you slept through the morning ones like I often do LOL (along with late morning/ mid day, early evening etc). Additionally, the staff is nice & welcoming and I oftentimes see instructors paying extra attention/TLC to newcomers If you're a hot room lover then deff come to Yoga Freak ASAP!!!!

I took weekly prenatal yoga classes with Sarah, Dee and Judi from 12 weeks right up until my water broke. Not only did these weekly sessions help with the physical afflictions that are inevitable with pregnancy (including my horrific sciatic pain), but they helped keep my mind in the right place and prepared me for labor in both body and mind. Hearing from and being around other pregnant women each week was comforting -- like a little mini pregnancy support group. I truly looked forward to these classes and still miss them today. Dee's Yoga for Labor class not only provided me with critical tips about how to ease the pains of contraction and pushing and keep my mind calm throughout labor, but gave my husband a sense of purpose and turned him into the most spectacular labor coach. The community that I found at Prana during pregnancy has become my mom community, too. We all have our babies now and support each other online and some still see each other in person, too. When I (hopefully) get pregnant again, I will be back for weekly classes! I can't say enough good things about Sarah, Dee and Judi.
