I only started a couple of weeks ago. At the moment, Nathan is the only person at Active Changes,…read moreand his personality is in my opinion what makes Active Changes worth it!
I was introduced to Active Changes via Play Hawaii (now CrowdSavings). My standards for fitness bootcamps being fairly high, I requested more information from Nathan, and his emails convinced me to sign up. I had an awesome deal, and I am trying to attend classes at least three times a week.
The classes are designed to be a comprehensive approach to training. They are based on high-intensity interval training, TRX, resistance bands, and all the likes. I was told that the workouts have a slight "Crossfit" feel to it; however, I am not a Crossfitter and I cannot truly judge - no heavy weight though, that's all I can assure you.
Nathan is a good guy, and he always shares his positive energy. He is friendly to everyone, approachable, and really enjoys doing what he does. On top of that, he is involved in quite a few charity projects, which is something I truly appreciate.
There are a few Actives Changes that need to occur before I give it the fifth-star rating award. Although Nate always offers different levels of progressions, from beginners to advanced, I wish the classes were a bit more intense - but then, I like to push myself a little. I found the classes a little bit slow-moving, especially at the beginning of the month, which was a bit frustrating. But I kept on going, and it seems to be improving in this regard, as the level of difficulty and intensity is progressively increasing. The sessions are supposed to last one hour, and yet they are always somewhat shorter than that.
Having said that, I do have a rash on my "cheeks" from doing many crunches... Ssshh... Besides, I didn't measured/weighed myself before starting the program, so I cannot quantify my Active Changes. The workout did manage to give me sore abs though, that does not happen often, which means it must be somewhat working!
I like that we use resistance bands to stretch, I just wish we wouldn't focus on lower body so much. Finally, I really, really enjoy the warm-up. I feel like it is very effective, and it's a lot of fun too!
Class attendance is impressive: the students at Active Changes tend to stick to their goals, which is a very good sign! Nathan's workouts are never boring, and the routine changes everyday.
The three things I like best:
- the planks variations;
- the warm-up;
- And I love that he always plays music!
I (almost) shamelessly admit I am an avid COUPON-er, and I wouldn't afford the regular monthly fee for unlimited classes. However, I plan to attending as many charity and week-end workouts as I can, and would recommend everyone to join me.
Active Changes is a fairly new business, and seeing how dedicated Nathan is, I am sure it will improve very fast! So stay updated. And come to the charity workouts.
P.S.: Nate, if you read this, please don't kick my ass too much on Monday. I don't need to suffer too much.
P.P.S.: Nah, please do, "No Pain No Gain", right? And it is Post-Thanksgiving...
P.S.S.: Nah, please be reasonable... whatever is for my own good...
