Dry food no gravy chicken taste old. Waited a long time for food even tho i called before i arrived.

I originally came into this place looking to try their shrimp lunch special but they were out so I decided to go for their oxtails. It was a pretty decent price for the portion size I got. However, some of the oxtails I received were just bones no meat. I'm a sauce girl so I liked that they put a lot of gravy onto my rice. Recently I have noticed that yogis food has not been the same.just today me and my wife ordered some food from there,I got the cheesey beef patties which was good .And my wife ordered a small oxtail dinner for $14 dollars, the oxtails was the worst. They weren't cooked enough at all they were tuff and hard and you couldn't even eat them ,the vegetables were undercooked with no seasoning, very bland taste. she was totally upset about her meal.They use to make some good oxtails dinners, but not any more. Note the dinner was $14 for a small dinner ,what a shame, But they shouldn't charge that much for a dinner and the meal taste like nothing, we expect better from them up there, they need to get it together with there under cooked oxtails. Great lunch spot . Staff is friendly and serves decent portions of food . The Rasta pasta is amazing and you can add a meat option . With the mini option you can choose just about anything, it's a great lunch option because it's just enough to fill you without you feeling overstuffed . Seating is available inside . read more

Hello everyone! I just want to start off by informing you that this review is based on my experience solely at Yogi's Restaurant which is now called Fortis Restaurant at this location. As of December 21, 2020 the name has been changed to Fortis Restaurant, and although my most recent visit was when the restaurant was named Yogi's, I would still enjoy sharing my experiences with you all in despite of the change. Yogi's has been one of many Caribbean restaurants I have tried in the years of being a Yelper, but was very new to me at the time. Also, being new to the neighborhood has led me here upon my crave for some Jamaican eats. I was mainly interested in the lunch specials they had available referred to as "minis." That day was my first time trying Yogi's and because I really didn't have a heavy appetite at the moment, I found this perfect for that just right satisfactory portion. The inside was set up as that of what I would describe as a small dine-in/takeout restaurant. The cashier was to the right of walking in followed by two high corner tables with bar style chairs on the left for eating in and drinking beers; which they served if you were of legal drinking age of course. Towards the back of the restaurant was the food that was displayed buffet style, but you couldn't serve yourself. All names of each dish was labeled right above so that you knew what you wanted to order in an instant. They offered the usual dishes that many are familiar with like stew chicken, oxtails, curry chicken, etc. There were also different varieties such as grilled salmon chunks, jerk wings, sweet chili wings, sweet chili shrimp, jerk chicken fried rice, and fried chicken. Both female servers were pleasant and moved quickly for the most part. The neighborhood is not the safest but most people usually got their food to go. I have tried the grilled salmon chunks, jerk wings (as pictured), fried rice, and curry chicken. My favorite, the jerk wings, were perfectly spiced without jerk sauce and baked well with slight crisp to the skin. The fried rice was oily and edible mainly with meat. The curry chicken was good, but a few times I found it tasted a bit bland as if it was lacking the curry spice. Last to mention the salmon chunks which was too salty, so much so, that I could not finish less than half a portion. I really did not expect the salmon to taste as it did because it looked really good and that was disappointing. I was reading other reviews and what sticks out the most is that it seems as though the quality of food at this location specifically declined over the years. Like I mentioned before hand, Yogi's was new to me at the time, so I cannot comment much on that part. I do however see that they were a staple in the neighborhood and favored by many. I do recommend trying their other location a few blocks down across from York College campus at 92-40c Guy R. Brewer, Queens, NY. They are a popular location and best known to have really good chicken soup and breakfast. read more

This was the worst experience ever. I ordered callaloo, and when it arrived, it was mostly cabbage and carrots and maybe a spoonful of color. In addition, it was not wrapped well so the liquid got all over the bag and was dry by the time I got it Inside but the bag was wet so I called to remedy this and the guy said if you don't like it, throw it out and order something else. the food did not even taste good and I really tried . horrible customer service, horrible response, and would never order from them again read more

I came here after my mom bragged about her food last week from this place, so we went today so I could see what it was all about. I ordered the brown stew chicken, Rasta pasta and cabbage. This food did not disappoint!!! In fact it was delicious, the Rasta pasta has a lil spice to it and plenty of veggies like carrots, peas, green beans. Food is near Perfection. Mi fi tell ya...Curry Chicken, Jerk Chicken, Fried Chicken, Stew Chicken, Oxtail, Rice and Peas, etc name it they got and it's on point. And Customer Service is superb. This white boy eats tons of jerk chicken all over the city as my job takes me to all 5 boroughs weekly. While in certain parts of southeastern Queens there are streets like merrick blvd where there seems to a jerk spot every other block and in some places 3 or 4 right next to each other and it can seem overwhelming to pick a place but when I'm in queens, I like to eat here .They have a nice selection of different dishes cooked daily and there are so many good ones but I recommend: jerk chicken, oxtails, jerk salmon, chili shrimp and the rasta pasta. Service is very friendly which sorry if this offends doesn't seem to be case in most Jamican restaurants. Love this spot, one of those hole in a walls you wanna keep secret so my bad Im posting on yelp, but this spot is fire! Only have two restaurants I look forward to eating at when I come to NY, and its this spot and Adelas. They laughed at me on the phone when I asked them to make a slight change to my order and couldn't be bothered to contact me when they realized that something I ordered wasn't in stock. Nice neighborhood restaurant. I heard about the oxtails. i tried them and I like them more than my own cooking. Everytime I go back I can not resist the oxtails. They are meaty (not fatty), well seasoned and cooked to fall off the bone. They serve a sauted cabbage that I think is great also. Who likes cold fish, do you want cold food? Get ready because that's what i got! 1. I get hung up on twice, girl on phones said she was too busy 2. It took about 5-8 minutes to place an order 3. The server was doing phones and the counter, so I do understand because that is too much for one person in a busy restaurant. I always go to this restaurant and bring friends along because the food is good. This week I went along with my coworker who spent a good 20 dollars on her lunch. I tried to order jerk chicken with rice and peas and some oxtail gravy for the rice. Ms. Francine told me I could not get oxtail gravy only curry gravy. Mind you there was barely any oxtails left in the pot full of gravy. I asked twice before I walked out. I have ordered this or oxtails every time I go to yogis and even ordered party platters and had friends order party platters from them last summer for outings. Never again.
