This location no longer offers free samples :(

I used to love yogurt land especially this location as it is so close to my home. One of the reasons I liked it was its novelty. I would look forward to new limited edition flavors and I would sample them to see which was the best. I made a point to always switch it up every time that I went. I tried to do the same thing again this time except there were no samples, so I gambled on the new mint flavor. It tasted nothing like I thought it would and I ordered a lot. I ended up throwing out my cup. The joy of trying all of the new yogurt land flavors has vanished and part of the appeal of yogurt has been ruined for me. Yogurt land wants me to blame other customers for the loss of yogurt land's novelty rather than to take responsibility. If you look at the various signs they posted throughout the store (and which I have attached) they state that they are discontinuing samples because customers are "abusing" these samples. The store already limited customers to two sample cups, does it consider people sampling without purchasing to be abuse? How much could a small sample of yogurt be? A few cents? Throughout all of my visits I saw a kid "abuse" the sample policy once. He filled one sample cup to the point that it almost overflowed and neglected to fill a second one. A yogurt land manager meanly scolded the boy. This was while his parents his older sister (and eventually the boy) had just purchased four large yogurts. The family appeared to be upset after the incident, i would not be surprised if they didn't come back. Maybe, if the store wants to be more profitable it could gain more loyal customers by working on its company culture, and fostering an environment where the management does not hate kids (their main customers) and instead focuses on providing a satisfactory customer service experience rather than pitting customers and workers against each other. Yogurt land's espoused values are love, joy, and hope. The company is supposed to value community. The actions at this chain are far removed from these values. Maybe the store could be more profitable if customers didn't leave disgusted by seeing mold in the popping boba, or tasting kiwis that are teetering between over-ripe and rotten. Maybe if the store put the water container back in the corner, let people have samples, and focused on providing service rather than penny pinching (while charging premium prices), their profits could grow.

Best yogurt around! Plain and vanilla yogurt, topped with yogurt chips and strawberry boba is a favorite.

Best Yogurtland in the area! It is clean, well-stocked and it has the best flavors. You can sit outside with your dog. Yum!

Love the variety of flavors and the frequency in which new ones are brought in. Pay by weight is not too bad either.

Yogurt is pretty good, all toppings are fresh. Only thing is that I don't love Every flavor.

Yogurtland is cheap and good, nuff said. I like to stop by here after surfing or skating to get a healthy desert.

Besides that, they had all the standard gelato flavors, plus a ton more unique ones! I was tempted to try so many of them (even though I'm that person that always just orders chocolate chip or hazelnut anyway). My daughter picked taro and the "sea witch" flavor, which was purple sweet potato and squid ink caramel. She got to sample both of them before deciding since I wasn't sure if she would like those flavors, but she did! And even though she mainly picked them because they were purple, they actually complimented each other well since they were both sweet root vegetables haha. This place offered 4 different sizes (kid, small, medium and large). Even the kid size was a bit much for my 4 year old daughter, but it's probably the right size for like a 10 year old... Naturally I helped her finish it! The gelato was delicious and I loved the uniqueness of both of these flavors! The visual aesthetic was fabulous, too. Our server was very kind and patient as my daughter decided what she wanted. We sat in the store for a few minutes as we ate before we headed back to our parking meter. There were around 4 small tables with a couple chairs each for sitting. It seems like enough since most people probably grab n go since there's so much window shopping to do in this area. In summary, we loved this gelato shop and can't wait to see what future seasonal flavors they have!

Really unfriendly woman behind the counter who acted as though taking my order was a huge inconvenience. I left questioning whether I have the self-control of a functioning adult. South Swell is the kind of place where you walk in thinking, "I'll just get a little ice cream," and five minutes later you're staring at a chocolate-covered, peanut-butter-drizzled architectural project wondering how your life got here. I ordered the chocolate ice cream bar, and my girlfriend went with vanilla soft serve, peanuts, and an Oreo cookie situation underneath it. Both were ridiculously good. Her dessert in particular looked like someone took a vanilla soft serve, dropped it into a construction zone, and then said, "Yeah. More peanuts." And the chocolate bar? Absolutely filthy in the best possible way. Chocolate, crunchy, creamy, peanut-buttery. basically every part of my brain responsible for making rational decisions just clocked out. I think I fucked up by not getting the bon fire or bomb fire. Whatever the fuck it's called. There was a pretty long line, so I'm not going to pretend we walked right in and were immediately handed dessert by the gods. We waited. But honestly? Worth it. It was worth it. Cus sometimes you have to be a worthless piece of shit waiting in a 30-40 minute line at 9 pm. For some soft serve. Because there's something about getting ice cream in Laguna Beach, walking around afterward, and realizing you just consumed enough sugar to potentially see through time that makes the whole experience work. I have diabetes now. Type 2. South Swell isn't trying to be some precious, overly sophisticated dessert destination. It's fun, indulgent, messy, nostalgic, and unapologetically excessive. Exactly what an ice cream shop should be. Would I wait in that line again? Unfortunately, yes. Maybe some day. Would I pretend I'm only getting one thing next time? Also yes. Am I fat piece of shit big back ? Yes. Yes. I am. Would that be a lie? No. I'm a big back. I'm obese. I have issues. 5/5. South Swell has my money, my dignity, and probably another 1800 calories waiting for me next weekend. God bless America. Don't go to Laguna beach though. Stay home. Stay out. I don't want to wait 45 minutes next time.

The location only has two tables outside so it's best for a pick up situation rather than a sit down. The ice cream itself wasn't that impressive for the price. The quality of the ice cream matches that of costco (which is drastically cheaper!). This spot is good if you want a sweet treat in the heat. Definitely worth trying once but not sure I'd go again.

The drink I ordered was made incorrectly and did not match what was advertised (they added chamoy throughout the drink instead of just on the rim). I politely brought it to their attention and even asked if I should throw the drink away or leave it on the counter -- I was told to leave it there, which I did. They remade the drink, but then attempted to charge me AGAIN for the corrected version, despite the mistake being entirely on their end. At that point, I declined and said I didn't want it anymore. What happened next was beyond unacceptable -- the employee gave BOTH drinks to the next customer, including the one I had already drank from. That is a blatant health and sanitation violation. There is no scenario where a used drink should ever be re-served to another customer. This goes far beyond a simple mistake. Between trying to double charge and re-serving a contaminated drink, this reflects extremely poor training, lack of oversight, and disregard for basic hygiene standards. I will not be returning, and I strongly question how this location handles food safety behind the counter. Management needs to address this immediately.
