If you're here with a group of friends, convince them to order and share the pupu platter- edamame (steamed and salted soybeans in their pods), gyoza (pan fried and steamed dumplings), mini steamed buns with pork or chicken, pork egg rolls, and tempura sweet potatoes. Please try not to inhale the latter- these are not French fries- they are thick cuts of sweet potatoes dipped in a light tempura batter and fried golden and crisp. It comes with a wasabi aioli (similar to mayo) and a soy dipping sauce, but ask for some of their peanut sauce; you'll be glad you did. Try their green curry- full of veggies- you can add protein for a little extra but I definitely don't miss the protein from the delectable curry!! Or go for their sweet and sour- tempura battered chicken in a housemade sweet and sour sauce. Have been trying to support local spots during COVID. The description for George's Nachos sounded good. Needless to say for a $20+ dish, one would expect more food. I had 12 small wonton chips if you count broken pieces. Ended up having to eat some of my boyfriend's dish so I'd have enough to eat. I've always thought their service was spotty. I recently wrote a very frustrated review of Yokozuna on Yale, after a date with my wife away from our kids. The General Manager, Ashley, had read the review, and reached out to me apologetically. She genuinely hated that we had experienced her location in that way while she was away and personally asked me to give them another chance. I do believe in second chances, and was grateful that someone had taken the time to reach out with understanding and humility. My wife and I agreed that we should revisit this location, and let me tell you, we're glad we did. Service was exactly what we had hoped for! The food was wonderful and portioned correctly, and the service was outstanding (make sure you ask for Richard next time you're there - - he'll take great care of you). Ashley went out of her way to earn our business back. I'm so grateful she reached out. It went such a long way towards letting us know how much she cares for her customers. We had some friends in from out of town and they were wanting sushi. I'm allergic to shellfish but can usually find some good roll options. My husband doesn't like any type of seafood so I wanted a place that offered other things as well. We also had 2 kids in tow. Yelp showed this interior to be most suitable for the casual cool vibe we hoped for. Also a Yelp tip told us about the daily happy hour till 6! Bonus Our service had a lot of checkbacks, which is good and our water glasses were always full but there was no friendliness. It felt more like he was just putting up with us. The edamame was great tho I would have liked some dipping sauce. Rolls were okay, not great. My favorite was the Hot Mess tho the pieces were so big they were hard to enjoy. The kids sweet and sour chicken was good ( posted picture) but the chicken tenders were thin, flat and not good. My husband got the pork belly ramen bowl. Not tasty. Overall, it was okay. Woo-hoo! Businesses are starting to realize there is more to Tulsa than "downtown"! So excited Yokozuna added another location. I already like this location better than the original...why?! Ample parking my friends! And you don't have to pay to park! Okay, now that i just blew your minds with free parking, get this...it is everything you know and love about the original Yokozuna. Had a very good lunch at Yokozuna on a Thursday. It was brisk, but we didn't wait too long for our food. I like the interior, it's modern but comfortable. Also, as a couple of yelpers have noted, there's a fun balcony as well. Next time I eat here, I may sit at the sushi bar. It was large and looked comfortable. We had edamame to start, which was nicely salted. To eat, we had the following rolls: the hot mess, the rising sun, the pub roll, and the golden driller. They are large, about 6 pieces each. Of the 4, my favorite, and one of the best rolls I've had recently, was the hot mess. It has chipotle cream cheese, jalapeño and imitation crab, tempura fried and topped with a mix of imitation crab and spicy tuna. It's served with eel sauce, sriracha, and a fried wonton chip on top. This is a great example of textures working, as the crunch from the tempura and wonton chip add so much to this roll. There is some heat, but not too much. It's large (see the photo), and it can be tough to get it all in one bite. But, when you do, it's worth it. Can't wait to order this roll again. The pub roll is seared beef tenderloin with asparagus and fried sweet potato. I found the rice to ingredient ratio off in this roll. That being said, it was good. The rising sun has shrimp, imitation crab, cream cheese, mango and avocado and is served with a rum pineapple sauce. My companion chose this one, and I was worried it was too fruity. But, I really liked it. The sauce is sweet, but not overly so. I'd not had a roll with these flavors, it was refreshing. The golden driller was the simplest roll: tempura shrimp, jalapeno, spicy mayo, and cream cheese. It had some heat, but it wasn't overpowering. Me and my fiancé came here for late night sushi following drinks at Hodges Bend! It's pretty cool that they stay open until midnight. The sushi is pretty good, but I think what gives yoko the leg up on a lot of places around here is their hours and their location! It's pretty sweet that they have discount prices on certain things depending on how late you eat also. The sushi chef did a great job on our rolls and the fish tasted very fresh, but the thing that put it over the top for me was the sake bombs our waitress let us do at the table! I think they try and keep the "sake bombing" to a minimum here, but once our waitress found out my fiancé hadn't done one, it was game on! Overall we typically have a great time when we come here for sushi due to the atmosphere, location, and the food. Really cool place when I walked in. The decor is some of the coolest I've seen. However, the service was a bit slow. We had to wait a fair bit to receive attention. Regardless, our waiter was nice and kept on checking on us. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with a seaweed salad for an appetizer. Try seaweed salad was great, standard to say the least. However the eggs benedict were under par. The eggs couldn't even be considered poached and the hollandaise sauce was mediocre. Additionally the muffin wasn't great. However the other sides were really good. The breakfast potatoes were thin and we'll seasoned and the side salad was dressed perfectly. Tried the Pork Belly Ramen with Fried Quail Egg in a spicy chicken broth and it's incredibly spicy. So just beware! I can take a bit of spicy. Sriracha probably being a 2 on a scale from 1-10, but this ramen was about a 9. I was tearing as I was eating it. The Chicken Ramen was so-so. Not terrible, but not amazing. I was a bit intimidated by Yokozuna's downtown location. The servers had this exclusive quality about them. Honestly, I almost felt like I wasn't cool enough to eat there which is a shame because I really enjoyed the food. However, the South location had a completely different vibe. The restaurant and staff were much more welcoming and accommodating. The pricing and food selection is the same caliber as Yokozuna's downtown location but the South location is preferable in my opinion. I went for a double dinner date with my girlfriend and our best friends. We were very impressed by the variety of sushi they offered. We had the Golden Driller and Hot Mess rolls. Some of Yokozuna's rolls are pricey but I've never been disappointed. I think their prices reflect the quality of their ingredients. If you are looking for a great date restaurant, I would definitely suggest checking out Yokozuna, but be prepared to spend a little more money than usual. read more

The spicy tuna roll was mediocre at best. The fried rice was mushy and bland and the pad thai was flavorless. The volcano roll was the best item but it was swimming in sauce. The sauce was flavorful and delicious but took over the dish. FYI: The spicy tuna roll comes with sprouts. If you are not a fan of sprouts just ask and they will make it without them. I almost always just get sushi with light rice (I'm low carbing) but I tried the Meesh Mash without rice not long ago and it was really great as well! If I could wish for anything though I wish they would start offering a naruto type roll (wrapped in cucumber/no rice). I get them all the time when I visit Fayetteville AR and Scottsdale AZ and it's life changing for us trying to low carb/keto. Tulsa needs to jump on board. It was really good, but not the best pad thai I have had, I like a little more peanut flavor. I do like their food, I would say it is really good but not super outstanding. Have always loved this resturaunt and have been coming for years, their happy hour prices make for some of the best Sushi in town at a very reasonable price! I had a family member have a seizure in the resturaunt this weekend and multiplie members on the staff as well as various guests were very helpful in helping me handle the situation. The manager, Ashley, was especially helpful. Before I had even had time to think to call 911 Ashley had them on the phone, had explained what was going on, and had an Ambulance on the way. Ashley was using her personal phone and didn't even think twice before she handed it over to me to talk to the operator. After the situation was all over and we had gotten my family member loaded onto the Ambulance, Ashley helped me carry their belongings as well as my boxed up food to the car. When I was leaving Ashley asked me to call the resturaunt or stop by and let them know that the family member was doing okay, which I did and Ashley told me to come in whenever and she would give us a couple of free beers on the house. The broth here is less dense and is like a glorified instant ramen experience - which I love! I want to mention however my friends do think differently and openly expressed their dislike for the ramen and the teriyaki dishes they ordered. But after recently moving to Tulsa and craving a new happy hour place I decided to give it another try and I'm glad I did. I went during happy hour which I believe is normally Monday-Friday 3-5PM. They had discounted appetizers and around 6-7 rolls. I tried the hot mess, edamame hummus, and sweet potato fries which were all delicious! At that time, we tasted the first order of cho-cho and it was so salty, it wasn't enjoyable. I figured it was a fluke thing, we order it on every visit and it's delicious. We were a little weary of a fruity dipping sauce that came with one of the rolls, but that is on us, not the food itself! We loved our meal and were satisfied with our dinner. The staff was kind once we got into the restaurant, and we were done in just about the time we expected! The have happy hour on sushi rolls that you can get if you eat in!
