I just came here yesterday and the wait was only a few minutes for the five of us. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast with sausage. The food didn't take long and it was delicious! Hits the spot when you want a big, greasy breakfast. This location is not as hectic as the SLoop one, I've never had to wait for a table. Bf didn't like the pancakes, which I've always thought were so-so too. The skillet was decent, though quite greasy when you get to the bottom. Yolk in the West Loop is a FANTASTIC place to get breakfast or brunch for a good price. If you love eggs, stop on by! They have amazing pancakes and crêpes too. There is almost always a 10-30 minute wait so feel free to explore the mall that it's located in. But come on back for some potato and cheese cakes. They're probably my favorite, but I'm biased towards potatoes. ;) It's also a good place to come with a loved one, or as a group. The atmosphere is vibrant, colorful, and clean. It's an aromatic place! The bathrooms are practically spotless so you can rest assured the rest of the place is too. You'll even get a cute Yolk sticker on the way out. Just see the desk clerk. DO NOT GO HERE. If you're looking for a good breakfast, this is the last place you should go to. My omelet was not well seasoned and was missing a few of the ingredients that were under the description of it. Some potatoes were not fully cooked, and some were too burnt. I took two bites and left. Absolutely disgusting. Not to mention, the cook was singing a song so loud that a bird could hear from the outside and be so bothered that it'd fly 3 miles away. Yolk used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots. My last two meals there have been terrible. Aside from changing around their menu and ruining the breakfast wrap / quesadilla, the all around quality of food has decreased. I expressed this to my server, and he explained that they had either been bought out or gone more corporate. My wife and friend were also beyond disappointed with there meals. I tried a bite of my wife's omelet and it was flavorless. Not sure how you ruin an omelet. It was kind of soggy... almost watery, but not under cooked. Tough to describe, but not good. Very odd. ALSO! They used to have quality roasted potatoes and now they serve what looks like something out of the freezer section at jewel. Bad news bears for Yolk. This place is permanently off my list. If the founder, Taki Kastanis still owns this he's failing in an effort to grow (think they've added 6 new locations recently). If he sold it, the new owners are ruining his legacy. read more

Solid breakfast place. It would take a lot to WOW me at breakfast, b/c, plain and simple, the food (eggs/potatoes/pancakes, etc.) is much easier to make than dinner. I had the Hey Ricky! omelet and it was good. Even with the chorizo it wasn't greasy which was a +. Pancakes were solid. Clean tables, bathrooms, etc. which is important to me also. read more

I came to this restaurant hoping to give it a second chance, for I remember going there once and feeling the food was subpar. The service was fine; our waitress was polite and responsive. However, the food had not improved since I had last visited. The menu has a lot of typical but promising breakfast foods, so I ordered eggs Benedict and my boyfriend created his own skillet. First of all, our food came out VERY fast. Second of all, my food was cold. The poached eggs were cold, the hollandaise sauce was cold, and the potatoes were definitely not warm and some of them seemed to be undercooked. My boyfriend's skillet was warmer, but his potatoes were not all cooked through either. Overall, we were not impressed. I would say we are probably not going to try this restaurant again. For all of the hype, this restaurant is not worth it going to if you want a great breakfast in Chicago. read more

Solid weekend breakfast spot in the West Loop! I've been multiple times on Sat/Sunday and it is always busy, but usually not a very long wait at all (10 min or less). So many great options on their extensive menu, but my go-to is the Hey Ricky! Omelet if you like a little spice. Staff is nice and they always keep your coffee mug full! Met family here for lunch on Saturday. Seated right away. Staff was extremely fast and courteous. Food was terrific. I had Cobb Salad and Chili. Very fresh. Blue Cheese dressing was excellent. Me and the wife had breakfast here while visiting Chicago. I had the banana crunch cakes, very delicious. My wife has the chicken & waffles, her meal was very basic.
