Excellent experience tonight while waiting on my daughter's volleyball practice to end. Went in on a whim as a walk in and chose the 60 minute foot reflexology which came with head, arms and legs. Greeted right away by Shishka? Not sure of spelling of her name but that's what I heard. Anyway, pressure was perfect. I love deep tissue massage. I have a few go to places that I love including YOLO in Glendale and Jin Mao in Torrance. This is now added to the list. I'm in Santa Monica at least three times a week so I will definitely be coming here and asking for Shishka. Definitely a must try. Possibly WORST massage I've ever had! Reflexology part of it - supposedly their specialty- was AWFUL. Apparently only 80% of customers actually like this particular masseuse. Good massage, but I would say the service could be improved. I called them to make sure they would take my class pass before booking and they did! They are pretty flexible with time but they will definitely close early if there aren't any customers. It's definitely a family practice or something because they do this and there isn't a reception. The masseuse will walk out of your massage briefly if anyone calls or walks up the door so that really sucks. Also no instructions! I personally just took of my shorts and pants. Massage was great. I was a walk-in this afternoon, Saturday, while my wife was getting her nails done across the street. They took me right away and a very nice woman got me settled into the "room" - it's not really a room it's one big room divided by curtains. I chose the 45 minute body/25 minute foot massage for $75. I got undressed and she came in and pressed on my back a little and told me my therapist would be in in a few minutes. Mark was my therapist and he was FABULOUS. So I'm updating my review. I gave this place five stars before. Seems I should have just given Bryan five stars. I don't think I'm going back. After I got the vaccine I gained a bit of weight that I am working with a doctor to figure out what the vaccine triggered and how to get my weight back down. How that's relevant is I went in on Friday and the masseuse asked me if I was pregnant. First off, smart pregnant women would say that upfront so there's not really merit to ask. Second, I gained weight all over not just in my stomach.. so I am clearly just a bigger person - not pregnant. I wouldn't be so offended if it was obvious. And then, I looked up at the clock each time the masseuse stepped out of the room to answer the phone or whatever she left the massage for... I kid you not 25 of my 90 minutes was just laying on the table. At one point, I almost got up walked out. I have never been to a massage parlor before where that's okay. I still have a $20 tip because I wanted to be the bigger person...but looking back I shouldn't have tipped at all and if questioned told her that 1/3 is the massage time that I paid for that I didn't get was her tip. I think I'm going to a different spa in the future. Maybe just a different Cha Spa location... but it really sucks because this Main Street location is walking distance for me. I went from having a massage that I couldn't really feel and I politely asked the lady to increase pressure twice. I was not a fan of the experience. The lady who was giving me my massage kept taking out her phone and texting. I could hear her take her phone out of her pocket and put it back in. She would keep one hand placed on my back (not moving, just placed there) and use the other hand to text. She would use her elbows on my back and text with both hands. I could feel it and hear it. I found this place via ClassPass. It had ok reviews but I still decided to check it a chance. I walked in and was not greeted. The guy just watched me. Then I told him I had an appointment and was here for a massage. He asked me to see my ClassPass booking multiple times as if he didn't believe me. Then he proceeded to tell me to walk in the back and this is my first time here so I had no direction on which space to go into. It was clean and smelled like fresh bleach which is better than smell dirty, but then when I passed the room he proceeded to give direction. We began my massage but it was stopped multiple times to man the front desk and that time was not given back to me. The music wasn't super relaxing and it was a lot of talking during my massage. The pressure was very intense but I usually like super deep massage. He also asked me multiple times how I liked the pressure which was also good. Brian was my masseuse. The massage area is divided by high ceilings and curtains giving you privacy then it was closed by them using a clamp. Post the massage Brian gave me water then I saw that they had tea so I also asked for that then I planned to leave him only $5 as a tip then he said I could only leave $10 minimum in cash only which isn't cool because I may have not even had cash to tip on me and the overall experience wasn't worth a $10 tip but the massage was good enough to return despite the hiccups but not as my first choice place. Wow I just got off a plane from Atlanta and had to drive out to Malibu and back to Venice. My lower back was killing me. I tried to take a nap and that wasn't happening. My therapist had extremely strong hands and he found knots in my shoulder which he really took some time to try and work them out. Had a good foot massage. I like the decor. Like the privacy screens they created. Harry tends to have really strong hands and only knows one pattern. So I'll try someone different next time. The girl at the front could use some lessons in hospitality. Friendliness wasn't her thing. I brought my aunt here for her birthday, and especially in Santa Monica I would expect more hospitality. The other thing I learned since moving to LA is there tends to be more men than women that massage. So when you call to see if they have openings you need to ask for a woman.
