So I'm updating my review. I gave this place five stars before. Seems I should have just given Bryan five stars. I don't think I'm going back. After I got the vaccine I gained a bit of weight that I am working with a doctor to figure out what the vaccine triggered and how to get my weight back down. How that's relevant is I went in on Friday and the masseuse asked me if I was pregnant. First off, smart pregnant women would say that upfront so there's not really merit to ask. Second, I gained weight all over not just in my stomach.. so I am clearly just a bigger person - not pregnant. I wouldn't be so offended if it was obvious. And then, I looked up at the clock each time the masseuse stepped out of the room to answer the phone or whatever she left the massage for... I kid you not 25 of my 90 minutes was just laying on the table. At one point, I almost got up walked out. I have never been to a massage parlor before where that's okay. I still have a $20 tip because I wanted to be the bigger person...but looking back I shouldn't have tipped at all and if questioned told her that 1/3 is the massage time that I paid for that I didn't get was her tip. I think I'm going to a different spa in the future. Maybe just a different Cha Spa location... but it really sucks because this Main Street location is walking distance for me. I would be more understanding if they were understaffed and had to leave a few times during the massage if they made up the time, but they didn't even do that read more

Used class pass and had a pretty good experience. The massage area is small separated by curtains so you do hear all the surroundings so don't expect a private room. But the massage itself felt great and I loved the hot towels. read more

I was not a fan of the experience. The lady who was giving me my massage kept taking out her phone and texting. I could hear her take her phone out of her pocket and put it back in. She would keep one hand placed on my back (not moving, just placed there) and use the other hand to text. She would use her elbows on my back and text with both hands. I could feel it and hear it. And I could feel when she put the phone down on the massage table. Once is fine, but more than 10? Incredibly unprofessional. read more

Amazing 90 minute massage with Jessica. My body really needed this. She is amazing, strong hands, knew exactly where to go and checked in on pressure. I felt comfortable with the outside setup due to Covid-19. It still felt extremely relaxing even though you're in a parking lot. I will definitely return. Prices are reasonable and the massage was great. Heads up cash only, they let me use Venmo. read more

I called the spa last minute, but I could make an appointment with good time. I got 60 min combo and it was really good. While soaking my foot, the lady gave me head and face massage. It was clothe on massage, but she used oil/lotion for my foot, neck, and even back which I didn't expect it tho. It's not like a fancy luxury spa, but the price and quolity of massage are great. I used a first time coupon as well. read more

I found this place via ClassPass. It had ok reviews but I still decided to check it a chance. I walked in and was not greeted. The guy just watched me. Then I told him I had an appointment and was here for a massage. He asked me to see my ClassPass booking multiple times as if he didn't believe me. Then he proceeded to tell me to walk in the back and this is my first time here so I had no direction on which space to go into. It was clean and smelled like fresh bleach which is better than smell dirty, but then when I passed the room he proceeded to give direction. We began my massage but it was stopped multiple times to man the front desk and that time was not given back to me. The music wasn't super relaxing and it was a lot of talking during my massage. The pressure was very intense but I usually like super deep massage. He also asked me multiple times how I liked the pressure which was also good. Brian was my masseuse. The massage area is divided by high ceilings and curtains giving you privacy then it was closed by them using a clamp. Post the massage Brian gave me water then I saw that they had tea so I also asked for that then I planned to leave him only $5 as a tip then he said I could only leave $10 minimum in cash only which isn't cool because I may have not even had cash to tip on me and the overall experience wasn't worth a $10 tip but the massage was good enough to return despite the hiccups but not as my first choice place. I initially gave him a $20 for the tip and asked for change back and he only gave me $5 and I said. No, I wanted change to tip how I wanted to tip. Parking wasn't bad but was very limited and free in the lot space next to them read more

I have been to Cha Spa around 8 times usually for combo reflexology and massage. The therapists have always been very good. Then I had an appointment with Brian last week. This guy is on another level. I will request him every time from now on. What I need is help with an aging athlete body. Brian was perfect, stretching and digging in all the right places. If you want a no fuss, massage that is not going to break your budget, this is for sure the place. Compared to a lot of other massage services in the Westside, this is definitely the most straightforward option. I wish this location had some extra add ons like a hot stone or aromatherapy... but I have to say this place gets the job done. A one-hour full body massage really helps to get your knots out! read more

Not bad for a basic, "clothes on" massage! However, the price for it was a bit more than I would expect it to be. I've been to a cheaper place but, this one was cleaner than them! Overall "A-OK" because the massage was just decent. Was I blown away? Not really.. Was I super relaxed? Not really? Was I disappointed? Not really. Was I unpleased? Nope It was average. UPDATE (6/26/19) I was contacted regarding this bad experience, and they worked with me to make up for it. Happy to see them owning up to it! I paid $75 for a 60 min massage + 30 min foot massage. Masseuse only spent 10 minutes on my feet and the 'massage' was basically just rubbing lotion on. There didn't seem to be any technique or attempt to work on my (many) knots. Wow I just got off a plane from Atlanta and had to drive out to Malibu and back to Venice. My lower back was killing me. I tried to take a nap and that wasn't happening. I tried to take a hot shower, stretch...nothing so I looked for a massage and found this place. I called and luckily was able to get in immediately. I got a full body massage and it was AMAZING! The therapist knew my back was tight. Warned me that it might hurt but would feel better afterwards and he was 100% right. I'm coming back again before my flight on Monday. Called on a Sunday evening and got two appointments right away. It was a good sign when 3 patrons walked out all saying the massages were great. My therapist had extremely strong hands and he found knots in my shoulder which he really took some time to try and work them out. When you walk in they offer lemon infused water which was refreshing or you can try their warm non caffeinated Chinese tea which had a soothing taste to it. Best hour of my week so far, and it's Friday afternoon. Because my body's generally wound as tight as a tourniquet, I can't recall ever raving about a massage. But Maggie is a genius. She intuitively found all the aches and pains--even a couple I hadn't noticed--and worked more deeply and precisely into and through them than *anyone* *ever* has. Had a good foot massage. I like the decor. Like the privacy screens they created. Harry tends to have really strong hands and only knows one pattern. So I'll try someone different next time. The girl at the front could use some lessons in hospitality. Friendliness wasn't her thing. I brought my aunt here for her birthday, and especially in Santa Monica I would expect more hospitality. The other thing I learned since moving to LA is there tends to be more men than women that massage. So when you call to see if they have openings you need to ask for a woman. They also call you after to see if you're coming whether you commit to coming or not. So be warned. I would come back and try someone different next time. read more

Convenient location steps from the beach and they have a few free parking spots. Whenever I get a chance I always go to this spot for a deep tissue massage. It's clean and quiet. Stuff is very attentive and accommodating to your requests. I strongly recommend this place! read more

Specialties

Specialties Reflexology is the science and artistry of massage of the feet. At Cha Spa, this is the fundamental starting point, a building block for a complete massage system. We incorporate a blend of traditional Chinese, Indian, Thai and other disciplines of foot, body and head massage. This is the Spa aspect. The other aspect is Cha, which means tea in Chinese. The tea we serve is integral to good health, cleansing and soothing warmth. Our rates start at $20 for a 30-minute session. Cha Spa prides itself with screening for the most experienced, licensed therapists each with a minimum of 500 hours of training. They are focused ultimately on the needs of the customer by providing the highest levels of treatments, the ultimate in care. The spa is located on Main St., Santa Monica, an exciting, non-stop parade of shoppers, bar-goers, fashionistas. And surfers. We are 2 blocks from the beach. Walk-ins are welcome.

She has well over 500 hours of training for her degree and under both a California and separately national US training programs for her certification and licenses. The spa is private; the only people in the entire space are you + the amazing esthetician, Heather. The lobby space is beautiful, green, and inviting. They only use Organic to Green brand products which have very clean ingredients (a huge plus for sensitive skin)! Upon arrival, Heather explained the treatments and we started with body dry brushing + coco oil body treatment. Then, she gave me a scalp scrub + hair mask. This process was probably around 20-25 minutes. Then, I was given one hour total to enjoy the private lounge, infrared sauna (set to 133 degrees F) and steam shower. I spent 25 minutes in the sauna before taking a cold shower using their products, including a lovely body scrub. I also ate a few complementary snacks (mini KIND bars and fruit bars). After that, we concluded with their Signature Facial (~60 minutes) that included steam, aromatherapy, extractions, microdermabrasion, face mask, and much more. All throughout, Heather was very kind and answered all my skincare questions. Would absolutely recommend. I look forward to coming back! Not to mention, the price is really good if you buy the Groupon for the Bungalow Experience. I have visited countless spas all over the country, so I write this review with plenty of other good experiences to compare it to. The good: Scheduling was a breeze. I thought it seemed a little unorthodox to not provide a phone number (it seems that appointments are only scheduled via an online form), but I was able to secure the services I wanted on the date/time requested. My husband and I scheduled 90-minute deep tissue massages and facials (60-minute gentleman's for him and 90-minute oxygen for me). Just before we began our massages, a staff member let us know that the esthetician who was supposed to perform my husband's facial called in sick. We were disappointed, but they offered us some products to make up for the last minute cancellation. This was unnecessary and unexpected, but we were touched by the gesture. Additionally, my massage therapist was very sweet. It was an effective and relaxing service. The bad: The spa as a whole simply does not meet the standards of the rest of the hotel (the spa is located inside of the Casa Del Mar). In fact, it feels like the spa was a complete afterthought. The space is super tiny. The relaxation lounge is so small that it feels like you're walking into a closet. The locker room situation - absolutely embarrassing. There is only one restroom, one shower, and no designated area for changing, unless you want to change right in front of the door that could swing open at any moment. Because of this poor locker room design, another guest was changing in the restroom, which just so happened to be the only women's restroom on site. I needed to use the restroom, so I asked a staff member if there were any other ladies' rooms nearby. The only option presented to me was to enter the men's locker room and use the men's restroom. Gross. It probably goes without saying that all of the other basic spa amenities you'd expect to find at a hotel of this caliber, (such as a steam room and sauna, hot tea and so on) are also missing from this establishment. I could've overlooked these issues if the rest of my experience on site was top-notch, and as previously mentioned, my massage was very nice. However, my facial can only be described as hellacious. The esthetician was so aggressive during extractions that I actually burst into tears when I couldn't take the pain anymore. Keep in mind that I receive facials regularly, and have done so for many years. I am familiar with the process. I have NEVER experienced extractions so forceful, and an esthetician so unsympathetic. My skin was unbelievably irritated and inflamed afterwards. Two days post-treatment, and I am still experiencing not only redness and inflammation, but also scabs from the extractions. Unacceptable. I'm shocked and disappointed. I don't want a refund. I don't want or expect anything from the spa or Casa Del Mar in an attempt to make up for this terrible experience. I just wish I hadn't scheduled anything with Sea Wellness Spa in the first place, and believe that other guests should know what they're getting themselves into before visiting.

The technician who did my treatment was very apologetic and checked in on me, which I appreciated, but that is where the positives end. I was told I would receive a refund and that any treatments to fix this would be comped, but I have not received a refund. They have also stopped checking in on me. I have called multiple times and emailed with no response, while still being charged the monthly fee. At this point, I have paid $1,352 to be left with burns and no resolution. The lack of follow through from management is unacceptable. I would not recommend coming here.

My feet have been through it the last couple of years (sports) and I wanted to get serious about caring for them properly, not just getting them painted. Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

I'm so glad I ended up at this salon and will be back every month! While chatting with Celina at the start of the appointment, I mentioned to her that my natural nails had become weak after repeatedly getting temporary nail extensions at another salon. Celina suggested that we could try a luminary hard gel overlay on my natural nails for long-lasting strength (~1 month) and nail growth without the need for gel-x/tips. No other nail technician had ever mentioned this as an option, and I am so happy with how it turned out! As someone who always had extensions, I've never seen my natural nails look so good in my life! Not only do they look great, but they also feel so strong, and I don't have to worry about them breaking. Celina is super detail-oriented and it's obvious that she cares a lot about her work and clients. On top of everything else, the polish options at this salon are beautiful. I have found that in many other salons, color options are overwhelming and laid out in a chaotic and overstimulating way. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Rita, who's so sweet and friendly. He was a walk-in but she said no problem, and took care of me immediately. The salon is beautiful, clean and with all the latest in super comfy chairs and gel polish. Tiffany and Steve took really good care of me. Tiffany help me pick out the best gel polish and color for my toes and cleaned up my much over grown cuticles on my mani. But Steve!!!! Wow, what a sweetheart!! He was so gentle and thorough when giving me a pedicure and his massage was so relaxing. I think I fell asleep for a second. This by far was the best mani-pedi I've had in a long time.
