    Tuna two ways

Last night I had one of the best Omakase experiences I've yet to find in Ventura County. My mind is still absolutely blown away that this sushi shot has been right under my nose all of these years. Always trust in your foodie friends when they tell you a place is THE BEST. Major shoutout to my favorite foodies Marissa (yelp elite) and Mariel for taking me out to this spot, they always know the best places. HERE IS THE PRO TIP: You come here, you meet the lovely chef Choi at the sushi bar and you ask for an omakase dinner. He'll make you dish after dish of the freshest fish you'll ever have until you tell him to stop. My friends note the dishes always change. We ate to our hearts content and also drank a lot of beer :) August 12, 2025 Omakase Dishes Sample Menu: * Tuna Two Ways: Fresh tuna & seared tuna with chili oil and Cajun spices. * Seared Salmon: Lightly seared salmon with an out of this world mayo onion sauce. * Giant Surf Clam: A thin but spice packed bite. The clam was an amazing texture and the fresh wasabi knocked our literal socks off. Topped with a variety of tobiko I adored this dish. * Raw Sweet Shrimp: Please go back to see the presentation on this dish. Insane?!! Buttery and fresh raw shrimp and then the fried heads on the side. * Ebi: A Shrimp and Masago boat with a raw quail egg on top. This dish was delicate in every sense of the word. Encouraged to use our hands vs chopsticks for this dish was a good tip. * Literally this was one of the best dinners I've had in a long time. For an omakase experience that was unique, delicious, fun and casual id say it was well priced. So thankful to my friends for showing me this spot. Can't wait for round two!

Wanted to try and find a good sushi spot for happy hour in the 805, and yomama did some things good and some things not as good. The sampler platter was not bad, the maguro was decent but the salmon was a little slimy and tasted a little off, and kind of threw off the rest of the platter. Not bad but maybe wouldn't go back if all the fish taste the same and not noteworthy

The food is nah! And the lady server is rude!!

Food is nah! And Rude server! You're still eating and she's asking if she can take away the dishes already! She's rushing all the time!!! Rude! Not worth it!

I love going to this place since there are a lot of options for unique speciality rolls and they are all very good. We had the Mango Salmon which blended salty and sweet perfectly. Home-run which was my personal favorite with the kick of jalapeño. My mother's favorite was the T.T. roll since she loves scallops and they gave us so much! The presentation was beautiful instead of four different boxes to manage. We will be going here again.

The sushi rolls are decent for their price point! You can't really complain when you're getting $10-$12 rolls. I will say that they are smaller than a normal $16 roll from other places, so I'm not sure if that makes up for it. The dragon roll and mudslide are by far the best ones; the sauce on the mudslide is really good! The miso soup doesn't have green onion or anything in it, just small pieces of tofu--i didn't even get any seaweed. My only problem is the Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll, it doesn't taste like anything and is super oily, I wouldn't recommend it. The service itself is fast and everyone is very kind, we were told to holler if we needed anything which is sweet. I remember years ago when this location was in Thousand Oaks, and I remember it being better back then. I would still go because the prices are decent--not really a cute place on the interior but it's nice for a quick bite!!

    Lunch special

A delicious spot for lunch or anytime! Service is always quick and it's a favorite of mine in Camarillo! Make sure to look up the hours though, they're open at certain times.

Alpha roll. So lemony with crab, shrimp, and salmon.

But this afternoon there were a few customers enjoying dine in, while I opted for take out. (I ate outside in the community patio area that is shared with other restaurants) I ordered the lunch A sushi combo. 4 pieces of sushi and a California roll. I was going to get the Alaskan roll, but chose this and was very satisfied. I'll be coming back so I'll get the Alaskan roll next time. For $14.99 I was given a piece of tuna, albacore, salmon and shrimp sushi, along with a California roll. You also got a small miso soup, which was delicious. The fish was fresh tasting and of very good quality. My least favorite was the shrimp piece. Although fresh and presented well I felt the taste was rather bland. Very easy to happen with shrimp sushi. I stay away from it for that reason. Perhaps I'll see if, for an upcharge, I can sub a different piece for it next time. This combo choice for lunch was the perfect amount and very reasonably priced. The sushi chef and server were both very pleasant and welcoming. I found the restaurant and sushi area (open sushi bar) very clean and organized. I would definitely come back.

My favorites are the Chirashi, assorted sashimi salad and various nigiri sushi. It's a small restaurant and can get quite busy during the weekend, so service may be lacking at times. The drinks alone were worth it to us. The good: Lots of options. Shrimp pasta, mac 'n' cheese, biscuits 'n' gravy, ham, beef tenderloin, sushi, all the breakfast things, salad, fruit, chicken milanese, salmon. A lot of it was overcooked but it's a buffet so whatever. The meh: Put us on the patio in direct sunlight. Asked about a table inside and they said nothing was available. The restaurant was never full and for the entire hour and 14 minutes we were there, I saw two tables that were empty the whole time. There were cobwebs all over the railings and weeds growing out of the planter. The dessert options were terrible. Nobody wants crepes. The pastries were not fresh baked but the macarons and carrot cake were passable. It looked like maybe the owner took the day off because I went two years ago and it was significantly better. At this price point I probably won't go back for the holiday stuff but definitely will continue to go for the regular menu and happy hour.

A Disappointing Experience at Masa Sushi -- Especially for Guests With Food Allergies…read more We have visited Masa Sushi frequently because, when our orders are prepared correctly, the food is genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the service has become consistently disappointing, and after our most recent experience, I feel compelled to share a serious concern--particularly for anyone dining with food allergies. I have a serious gluten and dairy allergy, and every time I visit, I make a point of clearly communicating my allergies when ordering. Unfortunately, the server consistently seems unable or unwilling to acknowledge these concerns. He often simply stares at me without responding, and there appears to be a significant language barrier that makes communicating important dietary restrictions extremely difficult. His body language can also come across as visibly frustrated or irritated when I ask questions about my food. During my most recent visit, I ordered a Chirashi bowl and specifically requested no Kani (imitation crab) because Kani can contain wheat and therefore poses a serious risk for someone with a gluten allergy. I made this request specifically because previous Chirashi bowls at this restaurant have arrived with Kani despite my request to have it removed. When I explained that I could not have the Kani, the server told me, "There is none in it." I was confused because my previous Chirashi bowls had contained it. Unfortunately, when my food arrived, the Kani was there again. I immediately called the server over, pointed directly to the Kani, and told him, "I can't eat this." He took the plate back to the sushi bar. Instead of preparing a new dish or addressing the potential cross-contact issue, the Kani was simply removed from the existing dish, and the same plate was returned to me. I asked, "You didn't replace it with anything?" The server did not answer and quickly walked away. This was particularly concerning because when someone has a serious food allergy, simply removing the offending ingredient from a completed dish is not necessarily an adequate solution. The Kani had already been in contact with the other food on the plate. At a minimum, I would have expected the restaurant to take the allergy seriously, communicate with me about how the dish was being remade, and provide a safe replacement rather than simply picking the ingredient off and returning the same food. The service in general is also extremely slow and consistently feels disconnected. This doesn't seem to depend on how busy the restaurant is; even when there are only a few tables, the service often feels flustered, inattentive, and at times rude. It's unfortunate because the food itself really is good. We've returned many times because we genuinely enjoy it when everything is prepared correctly. However, delicious food isn't enough to justify repeatedly dealing with this level of service--especially when a customer's serious food allergy is involved. For anyone with a significant food allergy, I would strongly recommend exercising caution and making sure the restaurant can clearly understand and safely accommodate your dietary restrictions before ordering. In my case, after this experience, I no longer feel comfortable dining at Masa Sushi despite genuinely enjoying the food. Great food, but the service and handling of serious allergy concerns need significant improvement.
