The waiter was super friendly and helpful explaining the specials menu. We both got Tonkotsu. I got a classic tonkotsu subbing the pork for tofu and minus the seaweed. Mom got a tonkotsu with wonton. I'm not sure why but they put two wonton in my bowl as well but I wasn't about to complain! Broth was very good. Tofu was cold and needed the broth for any flavor at all. Probably a touch too many green onions and woodear for my taste. Wonton are tasty. My lip swelled up and I didn't feel too good after eating. Mom on the other hand was fine. Cagami Ramen is a great pitstop on your 101 road trip! Our table got a bunch of ramen. I picked up the classic tonkatsu charsu ramen. There were a variety of noodles, and this one came with thin ramen noodle. They have a large selection of add-on, so I did corn, spicy oil and black garlic oil. Gotta have that black garlic oil when they offer it! So how did it stack against some of my favs? The ramen was a bit too thin and lacked some taste. Kind of a tangled mess. The charsu was a bit dry and also lacked taste, kinda tasted like water boiled pork. The broth was doing all the carrying for this bowl of ramen! It was especially good with all the addons. The table had other kinds of ramen. The thicker cut ramen seemed to be a lot better, reminded me thin udon. The curry and beef ramen both looked really good. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICE. My husband, child & I walked in at 645, with half the restaurant was empty and everyone already eating. As we ordered, 4 couples came in. & everyone got their food before us. When my husband got up to ask them & they said, "it because you ordered a beer". There should be no reason why the took over 45 minutes to service us 2 bowls of Ramon (WITH NO ADD ON'S or MODIFICATIONS). Amazing, when I first had a sip of the soup I almost started crying because it was so delicious. Even a day later I can still taste it in the back of my mouth from memory. The parking lot has tons of Tesla chargers, but also a lot of space for normal cars. The store is small and on President's Day, was unfortunately manned by one server who was turning around tables with competitive speed. He apologized that they usually aren't understaffed, but we really didn't wait long. They have 2 vegetarian meat options, a kid's option, and a few nice looking sides. But these noodles are loaded. I got the shoyu ramen (I think? I somehow have forgotten already), there is such a delicate grilled flavor that somehow doesn't overpower the clear soup broth? I always disliked the shoyu's I've tried because they either lean too clean/you're drinking watered down soy sauce, or too fatty (it's a grease layer). This was so smooth, so umami, I drank all the soup before even reaching the noodles and meat. Which were also even better?!? The noodles had a bouncy chew, the meat was soft and again. Didn't have the weird fatty flavor a lot of meats ramen places have, it was just so clean, soft, and flavorful. I cannot emphasize enough how delicious this place is. I tried the tan tan ramen my friend had and I didn't enjoy it too much, but she really liked it too. I was driving over to camarillo to hang out with a local friend there but didn't plan out what we would eat. We voted quickly in the car for ramen since we had 3 kids and figured noodles are the way. Found this place on yelp and called to order over the phone without researching much. Just said "tonkatsu ramen, fried chicken (karaage), veggie ramen and need a chicken teriyaki bowl." They actually don't make a chicken bowl here but said they'll whip something up on the spot. Picked up and drove over to the friend's house. Unpacked the food. Wow the tonkatsu broth is amazing and my kid totally gobbled up the noodles. The best surprise was the veggie ramen-- just didn't expect so much flavor and action going on with this dish. A little kick, fake minced meat, ground walnuts, great noodles... this is a pretty thoughtful dish for the vegan here. We all loved everything. Omg highly recommend you try this place. Cagami was my to go spot for Ramen for quiet sometime. It has been a bit since I been back. I came in on a Monday with my kids. Menu and everything the same, but it did seem outdated. Menu was old, sticky, the booths seats were all worn out, I wore shorts, so all I felt was the cracked seats. Not comfortable at all. I ordered their signature Ramen, I didn't pay much attention to what was in it, but I figured it should at least have an egg. Nope. For $18.50, it was just bean sprouts, green onion, 2 piece of protein and black mushrooms. Soup flavor was ok, I didn't like my ramen came out warm. My son for chicken katsu and he said it was chewy and not seasoned. $4.50' for a can of soda and $6 for ramune was also a bit pricy. My wife and I are big ramen fans and have tried countless spots across Los Angeles, as well as many bowls during trips to Japan. Unfortunately, this was the least flavorful ramen we've experienced. The broth tasted more like basic chicken noodle soup than traditional ramen, lacking the depth and richness we were expecting. You also have to pay an extra $2.50 for spicy oil, and even with it added, the dish didn't improve in any noticeable way. Our 3yr old daughter told us she wanted ramen for her bday and chose Cagami Ramen restaurant for its extensive mostly ramen menu. My wife and I were super happy to learn that they had a "kids ramen" choice on the menu...the bowl, basic flavor and portions were just right for our little one...perhaps suitable for the average 2-8yr old, I think. The adults in our group ordered, "Tonkotus chashu wonton ramen", "Beef Ramen" and "Curry Ramen"...all delicious and full of flavor. We also order gyoza and pork katsu both of which were a favorite for my older daughter, saying specifically the pork katsu being the best she's had in forever. Lot to like here food wise and definately worth revisiting in the future. A couple of downsides; the service is slow and imprecise...our order of beef ramen( for older daughter took a long time to arrive), luckily she munched on the katsu in the meantime. We're teaching our kids that it's bad manners to eat when someone at your table doesn't have their food/meal...I'm not sure my wife and I were a good example in this case but if the pork katsu wasn't available for my oldest daughter to eat, I would have complained vigorously...my daughter waited over 10mins for her beef ramen....not surprisingly my wife and I had none of the katsu (as an appetizer) and my daughter ended up taking most of the beef ramen home. If you're a person who likes exacting service, where your entire party eats at the same time...the service here may not make you happy. Lastly, it's a small place...structured like a (former ) sushi bar with single seat stools, a few booths and tables...a group of 6 or more would struggle to eat together here....anything can be Jerry-rigged but for bigger groups...best to go somewhere else. The Ramen was super flavorful. I got it medium. The cheesecake comes as 2 slices. So I got matcha and yuzu. I enjoyed the citrus flavor of the yuzu. And the matcha was pretty good too. I like the setup. A very neat and somewhat urban environment. The guy who took my order was very accommodating and thorough. But wasn't in a rush at all. Incredibly informative and succinct. Looking for place to eat on the way back to LA, saw decent reviews so gave them a try. The place is packed inside so we took the patio seating. My son ordered the ramen but I wasn't feeling ramen so ordered the Pork Katsu set, but it doesn't include rice so have to order as extra. The Katsu portion is decent but definitely a little bit smaller for the price. First piece I see mostly fat and the breading fell off right away, which is not a good sign. Second piece still mostly fat and breading fell off on both sides. Then halfway through eating rice, I get hard rice like dried hard rice. I mean a Japanese restaurant that can't cook/serve deep fried dishes/rice is pretty bad in my opinion. The only saving grace is their ramen is much better than the Katsu and rice. If you come to this spot, only get the ramen off the menu and sit at the bar. The ramen noodles and broth are good, skimpy on the toppings but satisfying overall. Anything outside of this recommendation and you're going to be disappointed. We sat at the booth and it was torn and held in place with tape. It wasn't smooth to sit on and it really needs to be replaced. Then we ordered two appetizers that were both overcooked. The skin on the wonton dumplings came off and if you went to pick one up, it slide off into a slimy mess. The shrimp tempura was too crunchy and burnt because it was too well done. My hubby got the beef ramen and he said it was gross. He picked this ramen because there was a picture of it on the wall and he thought it must be good. When it came out, it looked like it tasted, gross, with fat on every piece of meat and the broth was chicken stock that tasted like it came out from a box. My kara miso ramen on the otherhand was good, off the menu, and satisfied a craving but it wasn't the best. This was the second time here, first time was like 6 years ago and I remembered it being amazing. Everything added up and was expensive for what I got. I won't be coming anytime soon. The booth is run down, the bar area is more enjoyable, service was good, place was packed around noon, and parking was terrible but you can manage. read more

Stopped by for a business lunch. I ordered the chashu bowl with an extra egg and then spruced it up with all the ramen add ins (they even brought me a little bit of the spicy miso paste). Perfect if you don't want to eat an entire (giant) bowl of ramen and still taste all the flavors. Service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious, can't say it often enough.
