Went last night for dinner. Had scallion "pie" -- which were pancakes that were extremely oily. Moo shi shrimp was very good. Alaskan maki was also very good. Orange chicken -- Trader Joe's is better, sorry! Service was good. But dining room was very noisy, we had to shout our conversation to each other. There is complimentary valet, not sure why people would complain about that! The valet was courteous and friendly. We will return. read more

Haven't been here in 15 years- but I remember it was a nice place- decent ambiance. So I wanted to try it again. I visited with my father on New Years Day for dinner. The place was hopping- the parking lot was packed! There's a valet station- but no one was there. Finally, we just parked illegally, and went in. Place still looks classy. The waitress came and took our drink order. She was very nice. That was about the highlight of the night. While waiting for drinks, I picked up my silverware to move it- and winced in pain. The butter knife had some kind of plating on it that was peeling off. It was razor sharp and cut my finger. Now- I'm a machinist and I cut my fingers almost every day- It wasn't a huge deal, but WTF? I've never seen stainless steel silverware that was then plated? And peeling off?? Told the waitress- she apologized and brought me an alcohol wipe and a band-aid, but never brought me another knife, OR a new napkin (mine was now stained all over with blood). Moving on... The scorpion bowl for one was tiny. The drink prices were fair ($6.77 for a drink- $3.97 for a bottle of beer) but the drink tasted funny. Was that cinnamon? I concluded that they used spiced rum, and I didn't like the brand. My dad ordered a Heineken. It was flat and warm. SO flat that the beer had NO bubbles or foam. Told the waitress, and she brought another- that one was better. Then the food came: Pu-pu platter for 2, and house lo-mein. The house lo mein was weak at best. The noodles were horribly undercooked, and it was basically all chicken, cabbage, and noodles. I found one shrimp, and had to search REAL hard for a piece of beef. The pu-pu platter doesn't come with rangoons. (?) The wings were flavorless. The egg rolls were huge, and looked great- but they were flavorless, and all cabbage. The boneless spare ribs were DELICIOUS! But- I like my food charred, and I think most people would consider them burnt. I ordered a second drink- a fog cutter. Didn't arrive until we were almost done with the meal, and it was horrid too. Same rum? Waitress brought our check- comped us for the one flat beer (that he didn't drink anyways) and that was it- even though we complained about the lo mein, and the funny tasting drinks. Meh. While the food was better than the average Chinese food. The service and experience my family and I had was beyond compare. We went out for an early diner around 6ish, had a few apps, a few meals and ordered a some drinks. About and hour into our diner the restaurant lost power. Since the time the power had gone out, I had asked the waitress about 10 times if/when the power would go back on. She would either say "idk I'll check" and not get back to me or say "I'm not sure". At about 9:30 we had now been sitting in the dark for about an 2 and half hours, it was time for us to get going. We asked for the bill. Due to the power outage she could not come up with one. Completely understandable. As the waitress did not know the dollar amount the bill was coming too(later we found out it was $360) the waitress made the suggestion to leave our phone numbers and the restaurant would call us and we could pay the bill over the phone, with a CC, once the power came back on. We thought this to be a good idea so 3 out of the 8 of us left our best numbers, that way we knew the restaurant would be able to get ahold of someone. As we felt the waitress was working hard and was in a tough spot we gave her a large cash tip. As we thought everything would be ok we all went our separate ways and waited to for the restaurant to call one of us. Shortly after 11pm my cousin, who made the reservation, received a call from he Auburn police department saying the restaurant had filed larceny charges against us. In complete confusion he called the auburn police to find out what was going on and where the misunderstanding was. The police department said there is nothing they can do and we would need to get everything straighten out with the restaurant. After talking to the restaurant we were able to get everything settled. Apparently the owner said the waitress never gave him our contact information and she never told him any of our discussions. My cousin explained to him at no point were we trying to skip on the bill, but we had no way of know how much it was. Once he understood the situation, he apologized up and down, we paid the bill and the owner also said he would call the police department and straighten everything out with them. At this point we thought it to be nothing more than water under the bridge. And nothing more than a little bit of aggravation. Until a few days ago when my cousin gets a court summons for larceny charges. Once this was received, first thing he did was call the police department to find out what was going on. Apparently, from what we understand, the owner of the restaurant, never reached out to the police department to withdraw the charges. My cousin now has to go to court over this situation. What we thought to be a good idea by the waitress has been nothing but a problem. Unfortunately management/ownership has only made the situation worse. If anyone is thinking about going to this restaurant, I would urge you all to reconsider so you do not end up in court due to the incompetencies of this restaurants staff, management and or ownership. read more

I have been going to Yong Shing Restaurant since I was in Middle School (so over 15 years). I agree with all of the reivews I have read. The staff is not the most pleasant and slow. Had an issue with the amount of cash given and my debit card was charged twice. The boyfriend of a young waitress threatened to beat us up if we didn't tip more, until the waitress explained that we had already tipped. Then he calmed down. So not worth the cheap drinks! I enjoy coming to this bar with friends but the serves is terrible, every time I hope it will be better but it never is. Maybe it's cause it looks like there's only one waitress doing the whole bar room, not her fault but it makes it frustrating. read more

as we went in at 2pm to eat at the buffet that was suppose to end at 230 but when we sat down she said it was already over and so i looked around and we were the only ones ordering from the menu everyone else was eating from the buffet so we ordered she brought over our food and she went to sit down in the middle of the room with other waitress and started breaking ends off peas as they was watching Chinese talk shows on her ipad set up on the table so i paid the bill and she started to chase me out the door and says WHERE TIP THERE NO TIP and i told her you came over to my table once I'm not giving you a tip for that and plus you sat there and watched TV in front of all the customers what crappy service but for a waitress to chase you out the door that is SO rude read more

Went here for a birthday party with a large group and as I made the reservation I was informed I would be charged a tip which I already thought was classless. Don't misunderstand me I was a waitress for 15 yrs I know the heartache but I feel gratuity makes some bad servers worse. So we arrived we all ordered and if course it came our one plate at a time but no problem it was all with in 20 min. Then I realized my order was wrong but I figured no prob I ordered the combo E and got one with wings which I've always hated, but I figured I could trade off at the table. Then I got to the boneless ribs hidden under all the wings they where burnt and nasty!!! Then the chicken fingers or should I say burnt chicken sticks then I asked the waitress can I have more in replace of these she hardly spoke English but she understood me but apparently chose to ignore it . So after waiting 30 min and no waitress and NO WATER Or REFILLS she finally returned with no chicken when she damn well knew what I asked for.. so that's when I gave her the whole order that still had not be touch to return and she gave me a dirty loook and walked away. If you can speak English then you shouldn't be taking care of customers because she acted as if she couldn't understand me what I needed when I knew she did but chose to ignore it because her tip was included ! At this point I was over the whole experience. I Will Never Return. We went for the lunch buffet on Friday afternoon at about 1:00PM. Lacking is the only word I can come up with. Most of the food was missing and we had to wait for the kitchen to bring more out. When they did bring more food it was skimpy in portion. Why bring out 6 chicken wings when you have several people waiting on them , I'll never know. We had to wait for our soup also. It was served late after we finished our plate and was small in portion with what I call mini wontons. The food was so-so. Also some of the staff seemed aloof and one came out with attitude when asked about food not being available. I wouldn't recommend Yong Shing to anyone anymore...the place has gone downhill. read more

I eat here a few times a year. I usually split the Pu-Pu Platter with my girlfriend. I've had other stuff like the Lo Mein which is OK and the Kung Pao chicken which is really good. It's a run- of-the-mill east coast Chinese restaurant with a comfortable dining room. One of the waitresses has the personality of a used razor cartridge. I think she hates Chinese food and the people who eat it. read more

This was by far the worse Chinese buffet my husband and I have ever been to. The selection was minimal. Much of the meats were tough. The ice cream was to hard to scoop. I honestly don't know how they stay in business. Maybe the regular menu is better, but I tell you, we will never go back. read more

New years eve- ordered dinner at least 6 hours in advance- and when I dropped my son off to grab it at 630, it wasnt ready and there was no place to park due to lack of parking and the cops making me drive up (while they tried to contain the vehicle chaos in the freezing cold) and down the road waiting for my son to come out. I finally pulled over after my 3rd trip up and down the street. I asked where my son was with our food, and they said it wasnt ready yet. When I asked when it would be ready, they couldnt give me a time frame. When I asked to speak to a manager, they said he was busy and not available. I told them I would be in to speak with him, and they hung up on me. I parked at McDs, I went in to the building, to a chaotic environment- no organization at all for a restaurant that has been open for years. Asked for the manager, waited about 10 minutes until he came out, explained the phone call, my dissatisfaction, that I would never be back and would go to Chef Ho in the future, he promptly had my order filled, I paid and will NEVER go back to that chaotic, dysfunctional, disorganized place with food that isnt worth the aggravation. read more

The worst food I've ever had! A lot of the meat and chicken tasted rancid, the eggrolls were tasteless and disgusting. They don't do a good job keeping up the buffet. And, if you have large group they automatically tack on 18% to the bill for their tip, I guess the people paying the bill don't get to decide if the service and food were any good. read more

They have the rudest and laziest host desk ever. They could care less if they screw up your order, or anything else for that matter. Then they try to keep you away from the manager when you want to speak to them as well. First off, I run a restaurant in the boston area, a large restaurant, and if my host desk treated people like they do I would fire them. Secondly, be careful who your talking to, before trying to pull a fast one on someone...that person your taking care of may be in the business as well and know that your trying to blow smoke up thier a@#. Take note, if they tell you they can't refund something off a processed credit card they are lying...and no you don't have to take a credit for next time, don't be lazy, call the cc company and get your customers refund for the missing item! I could go on and on, because the entire front desk sucks, but the only saving grace is thier food is good, most of the time! My husband and I decided to try this new restaurant. In our opinion, of course we rate the food. However, service can make for a pleasant evening. Our waitress was horrible! My husband ordered tea for himself and she walked away. Never returned to ask what I wanted. Most asian restaurants we alway had noodles to snack on..NONE. She never heard of my requested dish, however, she conversed with whomever on her ear phone and nodded okay. No rice was offered with either dish! Never experienced that before. When I aksed for "white rice" he expression was, WHY? "oh okay'!. We then asked for water. She obliged..and walked away. Had to get her attention for straws, of which, once again she just put them on the table. Several times we said "thank you". Her reply??? Duh! Not once did she inquire "is everything okay? can I get you anything else? Never refilled our beverages!! Both my husband and I observed other servers who were very attenative and polite. I did mention all of the above to the hostess. We will never go back. Her tip was sufficient for her service. read more
