No consideration or care, plus I got jipped. 3 pieces is considered a full roll now? Never again. Now the food... bland. The sushi rice barely had any flavor. The half of the Chicken Tempura Chicken Roll I was given, but paid full price for, had no seasoning. The chicken needed salt and the avocado did not taste like avocado. The tempura tasted like old grease. Maybe the good flavor was left in the other half of the roll that's still at the restaurant ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My husband didn't even finish his Yellowtail Jalapeño roll or his Shrimp Tempura. Like I said, never again. I should've gone to the mall food court for sushi, smh.

This place is so good! I got the fire cracker. I am BLOWN AWAY. The absolute best thing I've ever eaten. 10/10! I would ask for this as my last meal. The Rangoons were also so good. I couldn't recommend this place enough! Service was also very fast. COME HERE!!

The 3 rolls I ordered were enjoyable but most of the avocado wasn't quite as ripe as it could have been and the sheer size of the pieces in the special roll made it difficult to eat.

Ordered takeout, $43 for 3 rolls + complimentary California roll. Still haven't dined in yet, and as of now, they're only doing takeout and delivery. My favorite roll is the Godzilla roll. Deep-fried spicy tuna goodness. The rainbow roll was also pretty good too, fish was fresh and the roll was prepared nicely. The firecracker roll, however, wasn't that impressive as well as the California roll. I like how they give a good amount of wasabi & ginger for every roll, even in a takeout order. I ordered online and waited 20 - 30 minutes to pick up my order which seemed reasonably quick considering the day. A little pricey compared to other sushi spots but still very filling and worth a try because of it's convenience.

Well, they've done it. Earned 5 stars! My last 2 orders, they hit it out of the park. EVERYTHING was amazing. I wrote a really long detailed review but it exceeded the character limit so here's a shortened version with bullet points. *The salmon nigiri and sashimi were the BEST I'VE EVER HAD. And I've had a lot. No exaggeration. It was melt in your mouth amazing with a texture like otoro (fatty tuna belly) and the taste was perfection as well and it was fresh as could possibly be. Zero fishy smell/taste which can be an issue with salmon. Seriously I have never had salmon this good and I am addicted to it now. I ordered more the next day immediately. If I was rich, I'd live off this stuff and order it every single day. It is seriously that good. Mind blowingly good. My only tiny critique with the sashimi version is I just wish they cut it into several thin slices. Instead, you get one big block of delicious, melt in your mouth buttery tender salmon. Their tuna sashimi was the same so I guess this is a stylistic choice. I ended up just cutting it myself, but I definitely didn't do anywhere as good of a job as a sushi chef would. It's not a huge deal and it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the salmon, but it would just be nice to have it cut the same way the nigiri is. It would be more of an issue with a less tender fish than the salmon too. *salmon tartare-the tuna tartare was already one of my absolute top favorite dishes here and the salmon tartare is the same except even better because it has that orgasmic salmon! *white tuna nigiri-delicious, buttery, tender, almost as much as the salmon. I believe it is probably escolar (usually that's what white tuna means) which would explain the nice fatty buttery texture. Will definitely order this again and prefer it to the maguro *orange tobiko sushi-finally the tobiko I wanted! I thought all tobiko was the same, silly me. The orange tobiko is noticeably smaller than the black or green, and also much sweet, more delicate, and less briny. I thought their black and green tobiko weren't up to par on freshness but I was so wrong, it was just a different variety than what I was used to and looking for. The orange tobiko is perfection and was totally delicious. *eel (unagi) nigiri-most tender eel I've ever had! Melted in my mouth, no graininess as some eel can have. The eel sauce was just right too, not too sweet, and not too much of it, but just enough. *tom yum goong-absolutely delicious!! My first time trying a tom yum soup but it certainly won't be my last. They were pretty generous with the seafood in it given the price, and as always, the seafood was top notch. Big, fresh, juicy shrimp and fresh, ultra tender clams. The broth itself was also beyond delicious and just the right level of spicy (though personally if they had an extra spicy version I would definitely be interested in trying that too!). Now that I know how to order from here, I just have to give them 5 stars. I would advise to stay away from the fried food and fusion rolls, and stick to the more traditional raw fish and seafood based dishes. That is where they excel and I'm honestly so glad because there's way too much fusion/westernized cuisine here and not nearly enough authentic. I'm sick of complicated rolls, I just want fresh, quality sashimi and nigiri where the fish/seafood is the star and I can actually taste it, and Yoo sushi delivers! Yoo sushi-you have become my favorite sushi place to order from in providence! I can't wait to try more!

Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll, Spicy Crunch Crabmeat Roll, Avocado Salmon Roll, and Eel Avocado Roll
    Waylon J.

Ordered Yoo Sushi to-go, and I was really pleasantly surprised with the order. The rolls have a fresh taste, and they're also packed with filling. Sushi rice had a nice tartness and although it wasn't Japan level sushi, it was tasty for a New England joint. We ordered around 8 rolls (ranging from spicy crunchy tuna to avocado salmon) and were definitely full by the end of it. Will definitely drop by next time I'm in the Elmhurst/Smith Hill area of Providence.

    Lunch special

I would have never stopped at Yoo for lunch had I not seen the good reviews here on yelp. The thought of raw fish combined with it being not the best neighborhood was intimidating. So, thank you yelpers! I had the lunch special at the suggestion of the very pleasant server. I sat at the "bar" and the chef made me a free app that was basically seaweed salad inside of sliced avocado with a tobiko topping. Looked like a scoop of green ice cream and tasted great. Ended up having 3 rolls, a garden salad and the free app for $11.29. Everything, including the wasabi, was fresh and tasty. Presentation was surprisingly great too. Overall, not a place for a glamorous night out but rather a great sushi place for the money!!

You're going to get good sush here! Always go for the sushi combo. You can't go wrong + you get soup or salad. I've been ordering from here for 3 years and the quality has improved although it wasn't even bad to begin with but it somehow managed to be better haha pick up the veggie combo and find a beautiful place to sit and enjoy your mini sushi buffet.

I've been a couple times to try the sushi here. The location is a little suspect. It was also very cold inside. Interesting decor. Small space, enough for the few patrons that were dining on the one occasion I "sat in". The other time, I went to take out. Of note, they do deliver, as well. I had the yellow tail with jalapeño, which was quite good. The Naruto roll is also yummy, sushi wrapped with cucumber and no rice. The spicy pepper tuna was good, but not excellent. I found the albacore to be very fresh. The avocado salad was wonderful, and the ginger dressing very tasty. I was not the biggest fan of the Philly role or the Red Snapper sushi. The prices are reasonable and the service hospitable. I'd give them another try.

With a 4.6 rating, we were genuinely excited to try it. Walking in, first impressions were great. The inside of the restaurant was super cute, the artwork was beautifully done, and the initial greeting was welcoming. Unfortunately, things started going downhill pretty quickly after that. We had a few questions about the menu, but the hostess seemed confused and didn't really understand what we were asking, so we ultimately just gave up and ordered what sounded good. Food-wise, it was very mixed. The sushi roll was phenomenal...genuinely the best part of the experience, and my son absolutely loved his. The shrimp udon was okay, but the portion was noticeably smaller than what most sushi places serve. The salmon poke bowl was very basic and honestly underwhelming. I also asked for spicy mayo, which was never brought out. The biggest disappointment was the service. Paying $4 for a canned soda with no refills already felt excessive, but when my son accidentally spilled it, we cleaned it up immediately ourselves. No one offered extra napkins, replaced the plate, or even asked if we wanted another drink. It just felt inattentive from start to finish. To make matters worse, one staff member was sitting at the bar listening to something loudly on a laptop, which completely took away from the atmosphere and felt unprofessional. As someone who used to waitress, I understand the service industry and I'm usually a generous tipper. But I also believe tips reflect service, and unfortunately this experience missed the mark. After picking up our receipt, the hostess was visibly unhappy with the tip amount and had no issue making that clear which only reinforced the poor experience. I very rarely leave one-star reviews, but for a place with a 4.6 star reputation and "top-rated" marketing, this was incredibly disappointing. Cute atmosphere and one great sushi roll aside, the service and overall experience were just not what we expected.

In a state with no shortage of sushi options, this has remained my go-to spot year after year. At this point, I think I've tried either everything on the menu or come pretty close to it. That's what happens when you keep returning to the same place for over a decade. The reason I keep coming back is simple: consistency. The fish is always fresh, the sushi is well prepared, and the food is reliably good. If I order something cooked, it arrives hot and exactly as expected. There are restaurants where you're rolling the dice every visit. Haruki East has never felt like one of them. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and easy to get to. The location is convenient, and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. That's become increasingly rare these days. The only reason I'm stopping at four stars instead of five is the service. While I've never had a genuinely bad experience here, the last few visits have been noticeably slower than I remember. Service has also felt a bit inattentive at times, and these weren't during packed dinner rushes or busy weekend nights. Nothing terrible, just enough that I found myself waiting longer than expected for drinks, check-ins, or the bill. That said, the food continues to be excellent, and that's ultimately why I keep coming back. After 15 years, Haruki East has earned a level of trust that few restaurants achieve. When I'm craving sushi, this is still the place I think of first. The occasional service hiccup hasn't been enough to change that. If you're looking for fresh fish, a broad menu, reasonable prices, and a restaurant with a long track record of getting the important things right, Haruki East remains one of the best choices in Rhode Island.

I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. For Korean and Japanese comfort food in Providence, Den Den is a reliable and genuinely satisfying stop.
