This place has a myriad of good comfort Korean food and we had a great experience before but that was not the case this time. We had a question on the combo deal meal on the menu and asked Abigail, if that was her name on the receipt, and she rudely yelled at us for asking and admonished us for not understanding how that works. We were bit taken back watching how she treated the party of four sitting next to us who weren't Korean and she snapped and yelled at them for questioning the menu item. This lady should not be a server and maybe should stay in the kitchen if she's going to be displaying this unacceptable behavior on the floor. Husband wanted jampong but was told they sold out and it was around 2 pm and they open until 9:30 pm. We ended up ordering bibim nangmyun, mandoo kalgooksu that had mandoo all broken floating with giant anchovies floating in numbers, nokdu pancake that was so tiny for the price charged. We will definitely avoid this place in the future. Very disappointing and don't deserve patronage. read more

My go-to for Korean if I don't want to cook it myself. We have been going here for a few years now and usually get tangsuyuk, jjajangmyeon and galbi which my kids love and I either will get the jjamppong or mul naengmyeon depending on weather. Their banchans are also pretty good but I won't fill up on those (gotta make room for the good stuff)! My two absolute fave thing about this place is the beef bone broth they put on the table alongside the water pitcher and when they give you "service" of something. Basically giving you a small sample of a dish for you to try. We were given the bibim guksu a few times and I think the naengmyeon as well. I recommend avoiding the dinner rush because it does get very busy and the wait times can get long. When we go for lunch, there are usually only a few customers so we get great service and attention from the waitstaff. But during the dinner rush (and rightfully so), it will take so much longer to get their attention and ask for things. Food is amazing so definitely try it out as the weather is warming up! read more

This is my second time here and I like them even more knowing that they're all bay area sports fans since I'm from San Francisco. Go Warriors, Giants, Niners! This time I brought my girlfriend's parents after going to the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday night as we got greeted and seated right away with a pitcher full of hot liquid. It's like you're going to grandmas where it's very homey and feeling loved. I originally thought it was a hot barley tea but I was surprised by the HOT BONE BROTH. Oh my goodness it was amazing. We couldn't decide what to order since everything looked so good but the banchan / side dishes came right after we ordered: - Bossam / Pork Belly: I always love getting Bossam anywhere we go because it feeds 4 people pretty well. I loved all of the sauces, green onion garnishes and everything and it was tender. Although I feel like some pieces were a little drier than others but it makes sense since it has less fat. I think it could have been a little bit more tender or cut thinner. However, when I put it into my broth to warm it up it made it nice and succulent. 4.5/5 - Sulongtang / Ox Bone Soup: My girlfriend's go to and it was a good size for her and her mom to share with great flavor. Everything you want for a cold day 5/5. - Ddukmanduguk Special /Rice Cake and Dumpling Beef Soup): I was in the mood for some rice cakes and they definitely delivered. You get 3 HUGE mandu /dumplings and I loved the seaweed added. 5/5 - Soondooboo / Tofu Soup Beef: I think her dad said he preferred Kaju's over Yoo's place but he still enjoyed it. 4/5 - Free Banchan / Side Dishes - All of them were wonderful. I loved the fresh kimchi. Cucumber. Fish Cakes. Some kind of Jelly thing. I think the Kabocha Squash could have been a little bit softer as it was hard for my gf's mom but I still ate it as it was good protein and they refilled them super fast also! 4.5/5 - Surprise Naengmyun - Later on they said that was on the house. IT WAS SO GOOD. I would go back to eat a full order of this. Funny as I was just watching Chef's Table Noodle and wanted to eat some Naengmyun. Sweet and not too spicy. 10/10. Overall, we had such an incredible experience there. Service was top notch and all of the food was bomb. If I'm ever in the area and wanting some korean food, this is the spot. Came for weekend lunch and wasn't too long of a wait despite how busy it was. They took my order before I sat down so my food came out pretty quickly. I recommend the spicy skate naengmyun. Lot of flavor and really great with the cold soup that comes with it. The also have warm broth for the table and their squash mayo banchan was suprisingly good. read more

This place has really good Korean style comfort food. The owners are super friendly and give great service. It's clean and in a convenient location. The bone broth, kalbitang was delicious and pretty much everything on the menu tastes amazing. They use old family recipes. My son is a picky eater sometimes but he loved their jajangmyeon. Second time coming here ever, and it always has such good food and service! We came during an off hour, so there weren't many people around. The restaurant is clean and simple, and they have everything you need on the table (bowls, utensils, cups, water, and even a ladle for scooping soups/sharing). Something super cool about this spot is that they have yooksu(hot broth) just to drink as soon as you sit down. I've never seen it anywhere else before! We got: Tang Soo Yuk : Asked for extra crispy and it did not disappoint! The sauce for it is perfectly sweet and gooey. Have gotten it twice, can confirm 10/10 Haemul Kalguksu : First time trying this ever! Definitely a sharable dish, prob could feed 4 people. Lots of seafood and the flavor was not super strong but still delicious! Noodles are perfect in this dish. 8/10 Naengmyeon(received complimentary): I LOVE COLD NOODLES. But this came with our food and they said complimentary! So good and didn't even really need to add the vinegar and mustard into it. 10/10 The service here is amazing! They're super nice and attentive. Everything came out super fast and they were super patient when we couldn't decide what to order. The food here is good, but expensive. They have a large variety of different Korean food options, which is very much appreciated when everyone wants different things. Certain dishes come with purple rice which I love. I've tried multiple dishes and have enjoyed everything. Their hot drink is complimentary and absolutely delicious and comforting, even in the summertime. The sides are excellent. It's some of the best acorn(?) jelly I've ever had and I love their Kabocha. Service is mixed at times. Sometimes they'll come up to ask if you want a refill on sides. Other times, you need to try to flag someone down. I would come here again. Only deterrent is the price. Very brightly lit restaurant! Relatively spacious with a good amount of seating available. Came around 6pm on a Sunday night, the restaurant was fully seated. Service was very nice and fast. After we ordered, banchan and rice was served immediately. They also provide bone broth and water. Bone broth was yummy! The maeun galbijjim was very delicious. Ordered the M size for 3 people and it was more than enough. There was a lot of meat and it was cut up by the server so was super easy to eat! The rice cakes were big and chewy. This started off as a good experience but fell a little flat by the end. We arrived a little after 6pm on a Friday night and were seated right away. We were brought an assortment of banchan and the bone broth in a thermos. Ordered the mandu kalguksu and the LA galbi + seafood soondubu combo. The kalguksu arrived shortly and was good - homey and clean broth. The LA galbi came, and this is when things started getting a little disappointing. The LA galbi was 5 small pieces - compared to other Korean restaurants that serve bigger portions for the same price, I don't think the price was justified. The galbi was tender and good, but nothing spectacular that you can't find elsewhere. Then, we were left waiting for the rice to pair with the galbi for a really long time. Our soondubu had also not arrived yet. By the time the soondubu arrived, we had pretty much finished the kalguksu, and other parties that arrived after us had gotten their food. We also had to tell the server that we did not receive the rice before they finally brought it to us. On top of this, we saw other tables had a bottle of water, and we also asked for a refill of the acorn jelly, both of which we never got. Overall, food was good but portions are on the smaller end. Came here on a Thursday during lunch hour. We got lucky with a parking spot as it's a small plaza. We were able to sit right away. We ordered the Seafood jjampong and cold noodles. The cold noodle was spicy but had a delicious flavor, even better with the mustard oil and vinegar. They give you a bottle of water at the table which is nice. The banchan or side dishes were great! Came here to see if their galbi jjim stacks up to the reviews on here. IMO, it does. It was quite delicious. We went with the spicy one. The meat could have been a little more tender, but the rice cakes were a perfect texture, the noodles mixed in were a perfect complement, and the sauce was on point. We also ordered the spicy pork bulgolgi and combination soonduboo combo. Bulgolgi was decent, but it was kind of like a stir-fry. And the pepper they use gives it a Chinese flavor (which I didn't like, but maybe you do). I enjoyed the soonduboo, but I felt there could've been more tofu. -banchan was sold but I would have preferred odeng and mashed potato over a few of the items -purple rice looks fancier, but I prefer softer white rice for this read more

People are sleeping on this place. The Mul NaengMyun is soooo good here and you can combo. Their Mandu is meaty and hand made. I love this place and it's crazy fast and the owners are super nice. For me I like a non fussy place, fast, good, and good value. I didn't say cheap. But this olace is a great value. Probably too casual for a date night but it's perfectly for a family meal. Great service and balanced menu. Filled our drinks and ban Chan when low. The squash ban Chan is so good. I will return. Perfect for families and work lunches. Highly recommend. In the Irvine area there is a need for a place like this. The other Korean places are good but they are either over crowded, slow or over priced for what you get. What a great place! We got Galbi entrees, which were way thicker than BCD! Staff was incredibly nice and accommodating to my friend with food allergies. The host even hooked us up with free soup and some extra Galbi for FREE! Will definitely return for great service and BOMB donkatsu. read more

Very authentic food, we are glad we chose this place for today's lunch. As soon as we got seated we were served with ice cold water and seven different kinds of banchan, everything was really delicious. Galbi was tender and tasty, soon tofu soup felt a little salty but good. Bibimbap came in a huge stone pot and it's really hot! Tangsooyook was delicious with the right crispiness in each piece, they separated the sauce so it's all good. Service was great, they didn't stop topping up the banchan and ice water. Wow. Just wow. I remember trying this place randomly during a lunch break years ago, i remember it being good but not this good! the spicy cold noodles and sweet/sour crispy pork were perfect! The pork was fried to perfection each bite had the perfect texture and it was not dry at all. Workers may speak broken english, but they were all extremely friendly and ready to help out! Top-notch Korean food from family recipes. Ambiance is typical of what you might expect of a newly opened family restaurant in Seoul: bright, sleek, airy, with Korean decorations on the walls. Service is fast and friendly. But if you need something don't be afraid to shout out for it, just like you've seen in K-Dramas, lol. If you can speak a little Korean, with a decent Korean accent, they will appreciate it. They are happy to explain the food to you, too. Let's get this out of the way...the food here is GOOD. I was feeling under the weather and I needed some Korean comfort dishes to heal and revive my soul. This definitely did the trick. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but once I tasted the food I understood why. Everything tasted so fresh and perfectly seasoned. The ox bone broth was perfectly balanced in flavors. The spicy cold noodles were not too spicy but had a good amount of veggies and meat. I liked that they had bowls and cups on the table so you can get as much as you need without having to ask the server. The banchan was also delicious. I judge a korean restaurant based on their kimchi and their kimchi definitely does not disappoint. It's the right amount of spice with the fishy flavor. I took off once star because the lady (she was very sweet) messed up our order and placed a bulgogi dish on our table and said it was part of our combo. Due to the language barrier I didn't protest but it turned out it was supposed to be for the table next to us. We paid the extra charge for the bulgogi even thought we did not originally order it. I'm absolutely obsessed with the spicy cold noodles here with raw fish (Chic Saekimi Maengmyun). The combo is such a good deal - you get a bowl of noodles + jokbal for only $30ish dollars! The service is super friendly and they're always checking on you even when understaffed and busy. I also love the variety of banchan. It was busy on a Friday night but no waitlist (surprisingly). I have very mixed feelings about this place. And I believe it depends on the time you come which will determine the service you will receive. The food: 9/10. I've had the kalguksoo, pork belly, octopus fried rice and many other dishes here. The food is consistent and delicious and I've never had something I didn't like. Service 6/10 This is where I have an issue. My friend and I came around 11:30 am on a Thursday. There were only 3 other customers so our order was taken right away. Side dishes and waters were filled every 10 minutes. But around 12:15 once the lunch rush hit, it got chaotic. I completely understand that service can change once it gets busy, except it was a bit chaotic. For one, the owner came over and asked to take one of the tables we were using (we had two tables put together) for another table that had a larger guest count. That would've been fine except I had my personal items on the other table and side dishes and part of my main bowl was on the table because the table we were using was so tiny as is. She grabbed the table and just shoved all my stuff to the other table and we literally had side dishes almost falling off the table. Then we had to ask for the check a few times as well as a box because the servers kept forgetting to bring it from being overwhelmed. This visit put a bit of a sour taste in my mouth so I might have to come back when it's not lunch hour. read more
