The only real bagels I have had in NFK on 4.5 years! Great selection and exceptional cream cheese also. Not cheap. But worth it.

This place is a must visit if you ever get near the Ghent area before they close. On the weekends, they're pretty busy, but it's well worth it- you get the full experience! Some coffee shops are get their bagels from here early in the mornings. The only complaint I have is how long it takes to get your food after you order it, but it is made fresh when you order, so that's not much of a complaint at all!! I loved this place! It is full of some delicious but also healthy options. There's a selection of to-go items like fresh fruit cups, vegan desserts, salads and tons of cream cheese. I couldn't resist grabbing a vegan carrot cake dessert. They also have a great selection of sandwiches, breakfast options, or you can create your own sandwiches. My husband and I just went here for the first time, my vegan BLT on a sesame bagel was absolutely delightful, I highly recommend it and I would buy it again. I also bought the tub of herb V cream cheese which was also delicious! on the way out I grabbed a bag of free day old bagels which I think is so awesome that they don't simply waste them! If you're looking for good bagels in Norfolk, this is the place! As someone who comes from NYC, these bagels are good, closest to NYC that I've had in this area. Really good vegan options too! I get the everything bagel with herb cream cheese toasted, and it's delicious. The reason I'm taking off 1 star is because I find that the bagels can be harder to eat once toasted and taken home, so I think it's best if you just eat at Yorgo's and don't head home or wait to eat them if possible. read more

Holy shit, the best bagel I think I've ever had. Wow I had a BLT on an onion bagel with lox and scallion cream cheese. It was exceptional, but that still doesn't even come close, to how fantastic it was. The bagel was perfect, the cream cheese actually tasted like scallions and was so creamy. The lettuce and onion and tomato was fresh and tasted really good and crunchy. The lox was to die for, it was melting in your mouth and not too salty. I had the fresh squeezed beet and orange juice and it was surprisingly so very good and the two flavors worked so well together. The customer service was so good and made me feel so comfortable, since this was my first time here and all the options kinda overwhelmed me. And my sandwich came out so fast, I was kinda shocked! A Ghent-local treasure. This is my go-to restaurant for anything bagels. I always get a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel with butter and/or mayo and it's delicious every time. Their everything bagels are so good it puts store bought bagels to SHAME. They also have awesome vegan options like the vegan BLT and vegan bacon egg and cheese which are both also SUPER delicious. I ordered the Deli Egg on a plain bagel, a mix of Deli meats and cheeses in an omelette style served on a bagel. I really enjoyed it! My girlfriend ordered the Lox and Cream Cheese Bagel, on what bread I can't tell you as she inhaled it so fast. It was gone within seconds.. That good! The coffee we had was special of the day, the autumn breeze - which tasted amazing! Caramel, hazelnut and a hint of pumpkin spice blend. Yum! I also picked up a carrot cake cookie, which wasn't what I expected. It was more like a cake than a cookie; soft, moist and delicious regardless. The guys n gals behind the counter were friendly, quick on serving and had the whole "we're busy but we got this" down. The queue was out the door the day I visited! Restrooms were clean, restaurant tables were wiped down, the condiment section fully stocked up. I'll leave you with a 'dad' joke. What kind of bagels can fly? Plane bagels (plain bagels? Anyone?)... Had the Farmer's Sandwich on gf bread and my husband had the bagel with lox. Both were good! Got some Challah bread pudding to go.

For a bagel cafe, one would think that the actual bagels would be top-notch. Far from it. Got a garlic bagel with a lox schmear. As far as actual garlic on a bagel I had to look hard for it, and the bake quality was lacking. It was too far underdone with a mushy exterior. As far as the spread I had to get out my microscope to see if there were any pieces of lox actually present. I don't know what the line was for, and I don't know why anybody raves over this place. My boyfriend and I have lived in Norfolk for 3 years now and have stopped in Yorgo's quite a few times we have always loved the food, the garlic bagel could pair well with any of their breakfast sandwiches and Nuland hot sauce is the perfect match as well as their olive smear. But more recently we saw a post about their upstairs bar and had to stop in, the owner was our bartender and was amazingly kind and created such a great experience we've decided to become a weekly regular it did happen to be a Monday when we stopped in which is also service industry day! We met in the industry and can really appreciate a owner as hands on and passionate as this guy you can tell he loves what he does and seems like he would be amazing to work for. If you know, then you know..and Yorgo's is like a well kept secret in Hampton Roads. Today, I veered away from my usual (the Buffalo "Chik-n" wrap) and tried the vegan Italian sandwich. Tofurky with LTO with a kickass red pepper sauce and a vegan mayo. Wow!! Let me say it backwards for dramatic effect--WOW!! I can't believe I waited this long to try this. I am vegan and this is my favorite place in the world to go, and I've travelled a lot. Make sure you ask for VEGAN because one time I was given non vegan. I even bought a hoodie here for my birthday.
