Classic beachside ice cream stand! The perfect solution to a hot after noon walking along the beachside. I wish I ordered the coffee soft serve because that sounds awesome, but I opted for the chocolate vanilla swirl - a classic!

Hands down, year after year after year, this place has the best fried dough on the New England coast. Seriously.

One of the best meals we have had in York. The fresh asparagus with crab sauce was wonderful, as was the fried cheese with an asiago cream sauce. Both a must try from the starter menu. Dinners were the short rib served over cheddar mashed. Replaced the spinach option with the potato and so glad we did. So good. The other entree was the roasted duck with XO sauce. Cooked perfectly and with a crispy skin. Served over fried rice served on a bed of the sauce and yogurt. Perfect compliment. Our entire bill for 2 cocktails, 2 starters, and 2 entrees came to $117 before tax and tip. You cannot find this quality food for that price anywhere else. Service was also excellent. There was constant attention without being overwhelming. Our server Courtney was on the mark. The service from others for water refills, to food delivery, and attention to detail was a very high level of care. All was perfectly choreographed for a full dinning room . So unusual to see such great front of house training for service. Dining room was lively and very cozy. Beautiful fireplace with seating for cocktails. The bar area also has great seating and a cozy fireplace. Overall a must try.

Choice for Dinner, skip the Holidays…read more We came here once before and had a really good experience, which is why we decided to book a 2:00 PM reservation to celebrate Mother's Day. We understood it would be a limited holiday brunch menu instead of the regular dinner menu, which was fine. However, by the time we sat down to order, almost all of the options were already sold out. Our entire table basically had to order the exact same thing because there was nothing else left. The space is lovely and it's a nice spot for a regular dinner, but they were definitely not equipped for the holiday rush. Don't go for Mother's Day.

So I looked them up and saw the adult happy meal on the menu and knew I had to try them. An hour and half drive was 100000% worth it!!! The entire building is small but feels very inviting and comfortable. The atmosphere is iconic with out of this world 90s cartoons painted on the walls. Even the bathroom had a touch of this nostalgia and whimsy (trust me look in the bathroom mirror for an amazing little touch). The staff were equally amazing and truly wonderful. I am currently pregnant and being very careful about what I eat so my husband asked the bartender/waiter if the feta is pasteurized. Most people would have simply said I don't know and moved on but this fellow went and asked the kitchen if the feta is pasteurized (it is). It's little things like that that make us want to go back. Now on to the star the food and drink! We had the soft pretzel which comes with beer cheese and stone ground honey mustard and the fried feta. The pretzel was great and the beer cheese was also great but the feta was indescribable. Every aspect of the feta was perfect and a true umami experience. I got the adult happy meal (a smash burger, chicken nuggets, and fries). It also comes with a toy which is just cherry on top status. The burger was fantastic BUT the fries and nuggets were crazy good. My husband got Flo's Double Burger and he had eaten half of it before I got mine out of the box. He would have eaten two of them if he wasn't so full! He also got the I gotta say... today was a good day sour ale. He loved it and enjoyed it enough we left with a four pack! This is the perfect Maine hidden gem and we will be back soon!

We were not told about that.. just appeared on our receipt! REALLY DISAPPOINTED in that place. We have vacationed in Cape Neddick for several years, and this was our first time at Food For Thought. Know they are new, and we were so looking forward to an enjoyable experience at this restaurant. We will never go back there... beware! They obviously don't care about their shitty attitude!

The lines barely moved and there were longgggg lines and such confusion :( FYI- *cash only ** The flavors we all picked didn't seem as special and enjoyable. I don't think we would wait again those extremely disorganized lines that were all over in zig zags with no structure. While I/ we enjoyed talking to others in line- everyone was constantly making jokes about what was going on and where the lines formed and all. Way too much confusion for us and we all agreed on plenty of other places to go next time. Also, a bunch of flavors were not available and the signs did not reflect that so some of us couldn't get what flavors we wanted. After waiting 30 + minutes we all left frustrated, unhappy, and dissatisfied with our ice cream. :(

Dunne's Ice Cream is a popular seasonal ice cream parlor that opened in York, Maine in 2015. It was…read morefounded by Stephen Dunne. The roots of the ice cream parlor, however, go all the way back to 1967. At that time, husband and wife Byron & Betty Brown, along with their two children, turned one of their cottages on the York Nubble into an ice cream parlor that they dubbed "Brown's Old Fashioned Ice Cream". The Browns made their own ice cream on the premises. The business was very successful for multiple decades, but by 1990 they had closed down. Dunne, a civil engineer by trade, was originally from New Jersey (and then Connecticut) but had purchase some property in York. In 1991, Dunne entered into an agreement with the Browns. He would purchase and reopen Brown's but leased the building and the land from the Browns. Dunne also chose Shain's of Maine Ice Cream to be the ice cream supplier. The following year, Dunne married Phyllis Fox: owner of Fox's Lobster House which is also located on the York Nubble. In 2014, the property owner decided to sell the land that Brown's was located on, so it closed down. The Dunnes decided to build a brand new ice cream parlor 300 feet down the street which they dubbed "Dunne's Ice Cream". Today Dunne's carries more than 50 flavors of ice cream, as well as frozen yogurt, soft serve, no sugar added ice cream, sherbet, sorbet, smoothies, frappes, ice cream specialties, and even Dole Whip! My extended family and I visited Dunne's this past summer while we were on a week-long vacation in York. York has several great seasonal ice cream spots in town, but several locals told us to check out Dunne's. There was quite a crowd congregating there when we arrived one evening. We were able to grab a table outside to sit at. After looking over the extensive menu, I had a cup of "Shark Attack" (vanilla ice cream base with a raspberry swirl and raspberry chocolate truffles), my wife had a cup of "Maine Sea Salt Caramel Truffle", our older son had a cup of "Mint Oreo", and our younger son had a cup of "Cookies & Cream". The ice cream was out-of-this-world! We can see why Dunne's has quite a good reputation in a town that's full of great ice cream options. If you're planning on visiting York, we highly recommend a visit to Dunne's!
