I was going to a larger liquor store in Harlem thinking I was getting a better price. How wrong I was. The rum selection is small and with small bottles but the price is better than average. Their focus seems to be on wine thought. When I came in they were doing a tasting of a Chablis. It was at a convenient time when most people are getting off of work. The guy working the register is a gem. He greeted me when I came in and was cracking Dad jokes as he rang me up. I wish they had a larger rum selection but I'm a rummy. They are packed to the rafters with an extensive selection of other liquors and wines so I understand, sacrifices had to be made. read more

Horrible customer service owner was incredibly condescending and lied. My wife was trying to make a purchase where a portion was Cash the rest was on a Venmo debit card. The cashier must have either calculated wrong or pressed the wrong button and it declined for some reason. We then went and triple checked that there was more than enough in the venmo account to cover the amount. I then sent her Venmo more money just to make sure it went through. My wife then went in to try again and they refused to serve her. They lied and said they get charged Everytime a card declines. I know this is absolutely false because I work with several merchant services and have set up point of sale systems for many businesses at my IT job. So beware if you ever shop there and your card declines for any reason they will become super condescending label you as poor and refused to serve you. read more

This place is gigantic with an amazing wine and liquor selection. I just stopped in for some whiskey and red wine, and could've spent an hour inside. Unfortunately, y'know, COVID. So I made it a quick trip. Bourbon selection was very good. Prices are also amazing for Manhattan - hell, they're good for NYC in general. Placed an order for wine delivery and tipped $20. Got a call shortly after from the owner asking to reduce the tip to $10 because he felt it was to much because "they make good money here." To make matters more sketchy and worse he then asked me to not tell anyone that he asked to reduce the tip. Really sketchy vibes. There is nothing worse than shopping for liquor in NYC. I usually need to go to half a dozen places to find everything I want at a "decent" price. For some reason, you can find a bottle that is $30 and one place and $40 at another, yes 30%+ difference! However, every time I include Yorkshire on my 2-hour hunt for liquor, I end up walking out with at least one bottle. Not only do they have a decent selection, but they actually have multiple sizes!(extremely rare for NYC) On my most recent visit, I was looking for Wild Turkey and Myer's Rum so that I could make egg nog for the holidays. They had Wild Turkey AND Wild Turkey 101 in 1L and 1.75L sizes and Myer's Rum in 0.75L, 1L, and 1.75L! Again, these types of choices are unheard of in NYC. The one drawback is that their aisles are extremely cramped, perhaps due to a lack of a rear stockroom. Every time I go in here, I am extremely concerned that I will knock a bottle off a shelf with my backpack. This may prevent me from going in here more regularly, but I will certain include it in my "liquor loop" that I am always trying to make smaller. read more

I had been inquiring on Yelp about good vodka, and your friend and mine, Steven "Snarky" V recommended a Polish potato vodka: Luksusowa. Since I believe everything he tells me, I had been on the lookout. It took me a while before I came across it, but Yorkshire had it ($15.99), as well as a great selection of decently priced wine. I grabbed a bottle, and when I brought it up to the counter, the guy started punching in $17 something. "I think it was $15.99," I said. "Yep, but it's $17.33 with tax," he replied with a smile. Not only did he know the cost of the bottle at a glance, with tax, but he wasn't obnoxious about correcting me, even though I had just obnoxiously (and erroneously) corrected him. I like clerks who are knowledgeable AND nice. Perhaps in the future I will keep my stupid mouth shut. Probably not, though. And if you're wondering, Luksusowa is insanely smooth, and you can make a mean dirty martini after you stop at Pickles and Olives across the street. read more

This is my go to liquor store. As it is the closest to my apartment, just at the end of the block and it also has a great selection. This is definitely one of the largest liquor stores in the area, very big. And it has pretty much everything you would want. Every time I've gone in there, they've had exactly what I was looking for. All the high as well as low end brands. They also have a fridge for chilled wine and champagne. AS per NY State law, stores can only sell liquor and wine together, no beer. So no beer will be found here. Their prices are very fair, I wouldn't say cheaper than average, but on par with what they should be. Everyone who works there is also very helpful. I have been going to this liquor store for more than 2 decades! It has a greatest selection of liquors and wines in the neighborhood. The best thing though is it also has the BEST prices!!! No other store in the area beats their prices and I have shopped around in my 20+ years in the neighborhood. A current example, a 1.75 liter of Tito's vodka is $33.99 before tax. That's at the least I've seen anywhere. Most places charge at least $38. Before taxes. That's just an example , everything in the store is less expensive than other area businesses. The other liquor store in town wS closed. My sister was a out to arrive from out of town for my father's funeral. I went to Yorkshire Wine & Spirits for a bottle or two to help us relax. The woman in the store asked if she could help us then proceeded to condescend, insult and do anything but help us. When I tried to leave my daughter to make a purchase and walk out quietly she began to yell at my daughter. I returned and tried to explain and she became irate. We decided to leave and she literally chased us to our car screaming at us. If every other liquor store in the state closed their doors - I'd still never go there again. Penurious oenophiles rejoice, YWS is your new mecca!! This wine shop extraordinaire offers a wonderful variety or hand picked wines (some great Californian) with the staff to back up the choices. Unlike many liquor stores who also have wine, this is a real wine shop (with spirits.) Best of all however unlike a wine shop which takes advantage of the snooty cork-sniffing trend, YWS does not gouge the crap out of their customers. I recently had to buy wine for an office event and was pushed toward a particular Chilean (I'm not telling the name 'cause it's a steal and i don't want you pushing up the demand.) The Wine (both white and red table) was over twice the price at most any place i found it when compared to YWS. In addition they deliver within 10 blocks and offer 10% off of cases. My absolute favorite place to shop for wine in the neighborhood! They have a huge wine selection with prices ranging from $5 and up. My favorite is Sauvignon Blanc, and you can find a GREAT bottle for under $7 with 13.5% alcohol. (Yes alcohol percentage is an important factor when deciding on which white to buy.) Vodka is reasonably priced also with a wide selection. Did you know there is Swedish Fish flavored vodka?? I came in recently and bought 3 wines and 1 liquor, and they gave me a cute reusable tote with bottle separators inside to carry my loot home in :) read more

I love this wine & liquor shop! There are a lot of under $20 wine options and that includes a selection of the classy large bottles; if you're going to have as much wine as I do, you gotta be thrifty! There are more expensive options as well, though I usually ignore those until there are celebrations and presents to be bought. Everyone that works there is super nice and won't judge you if they see you a few days in a row or for buying $7.99 wine (on sale!). There's cold champagne and white wines in the fridge at the back. There's also a loyalty card - just ask, they're happy to process your application on the spot. There are lots of liquor store options in the area but this one is definitely my favorite. read more

Was a fairly regular customer - then came in with a bad bottle - clearly had turned (about $30 price point). Was refused a credit - subjected to a 5 minute lecture of how things work with the distributor, followed by "how do I know you bought it here" - who keeps receipts from liquor stores? And treated very rudely. After it was clear I was not going to be treated right, I told the rude manager that he had lost at least one if not customers, to which he replied -"oh, you'll be back". Just as an update, there has been no resolution to the lack of customer service that was given to me by Yorkshire Wines on October 14th. I have been in contact with the owner over Yelp. However, several tactics to pass blame back to me, the customer, have been attempted. Not sure why this was done and why no real attempt to resolve this issue has been made. They say they cannot obtain the wine they had advertised. All I really heard from them was a lot of "I can't" instead of we are sorry we wasted your time, we will do whatever is necessary to correct our mistake and get you what we advertised. Instead all I got was more "nothing I can do" , "you should have ordered it from our website" and "you didn't ask for a specific vintage when you called", etc....In other words its the same old story of a business that wastes people's time advertising stuff they don't have, making excuses to cover themselves and then making no effort to make the customer happy when the business is at fault for wasting the customer's time. Just as an FYI...I have spoken with another distributor that said they could get me this vintage, wonder why Yorkshire said they couldn't? Makes you wonder. The other day I came home with yet another Yorkshire Wine and Spirits bag and my husband asked if they know me by name yet. No, they don't, and it's a shame. But I'm sure they'd recognize me (and my super cute dog). Here's what to like about Yorkshire Wine and Spirits: It's cheaper than other neighborhood places. I've compared the grocery store brands of wine here and the other wine shop near-ish to my home, and this place beats the prices by $2-3. Though this place is a one big block and one little block further from my apartment, I head here whenever I am buying something for myself. If I need a gift or am trying to buy something special for some purpose, I will swing by Vintage Grape, because I think their staff is more knowledgeable/helpful, but 9 out of 10 purchases, Yorkshire Wine and Spirits wins my business and I loooove them. read more

Been coming in so frequently lately--just to see what great find I can stumble across--that they know me and what I want from the minute I enter. When I called to see what time I could expect my order I was told it was delivered a long time ago. Checked with doorman...no delivery. Checked my credit card was charged. Called back. Had no order from me. Kept on blaming it on Covoid 19. Found the order. Surprise! That shouldn't account for rudeness. Let's see if my order ever comes. Excellent selection of wines -- I'm particularly partial to finding Dave Matthews' Dreaming Tree wine at a reasonable price -- and fair deals. The staff is there to ring you up, so you're basically on your own when it comes to locating the libation of your choice. Plenty of registers, though. read more

This liquor and wine shop has a pretty wide selection and decent prices. If you're looking for wine, always check the secondary displays by the entrance and those stacked on boxes in the center of the store first before going to the shelves. These are usually sales. I once found a Sterling Merlot, normally $20/bottle, for $12.99. Score! There is one Spanish wine from Jumilla called Juan Gil that's $12.99 regularly now (this wine has easily gone for $17.99 elsewhere in the city...though not many places carry it). It's one of my favorites. There are certain brands, though, that have newer flavors not carried here, like Smirnoff Caramel or Smirnoff Iced Cake. So I can't find everything I want here. But this is NYC...space is limited, and I get that. The staff is also very friendly. Overall, you can't go wrong shopping here. read more

I think Yorkshire Wine and Spirits has the best selection in the neighborhood - at least from what I have seen! I am a frequent wine drinker and tend to grab a bottle of wine at the closer (but much smaller) wine shop just around the corner from my apartment. However, I recently discovered Yorkshire when a friend of mine moved a few blocks from here. It has a great selection of liquor (pumpkin pie vodka? yes please!) and many varieties of wine including some that are hard to find in the city if you have a favorite, or looking for a particular bottle for a gift, etc. (or if you are a picky wine drinker, which I am not...). When I stopped in here last night, I was mostly just browsing, but when asked the staff if they had a particular wine they were able to point me in the direction. Not sure if this is the kind of place where they have a resident "wine connoisseur" or sommelier to provide suggestions for the perfect bottle of wine, but overall they were friendly and helpful. Overall, I recommend this place, especially if you are looking for any seasonal/limited addition types of liquor (which is sometimes very hard to find in the city) as they seem to have good selection of this - I will be sipping on pumpkin pie martinis for the next month! read more
