Yo's on Hartz Restaurant - discrimination against children. My husband and I took our daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren, 5 & 2 years, out to dinner last Saturday night. Our daughter recommended Yo's on Hartz Restaurant. She called and tried to make a reservation for six people but they said they don't take reservations but that they had plenty of tables available and to come on down. It was about 5:45 when we arrived downtown, and it was getting pretty busy. We went to the Yo's hostess and checked in. They had one table left for six and she asked us if this table was acceptable. "Yes, great, thank you." We all sat down and arranged ourselves at the table. We poured our water with the water pitchers that were on the table, napkins on laps, kids unwrapped the chopsticks. A few minutes later, a women came up to our table and let us know that we need to vacate our table... Another group of 6 adults just arrived and since we have two children, we need to give up our table! This party had just called. Mind you, we had called, too, and they don't take reservations. I asked if they had another table for us and she said to give her some time. I looked around! It's busy and there are no other tables. It's my opinion they bumped us from the table because a table of six adults is going to garner a larger bill with food and drinks.... We got up and left and went down to The Growler where we were welcomed and we all had a delicious dinner! I am appalled at the behavior of Yo's! Horrible service and they should be ashamed of themselves. They never once apologized or tried to correct their error. They might have garnered a higher bar tab with six adults but we will never frequent their establishment again! They have lost our business for life! I will also mention that there was another adult couple with a child and they said they were made to feel unwelcome as well. Peace out, Yo's! read more

This place is consistently great. A very creative menu, with innovations every time we visit. Asian fusion includes Chinese and Japanese offerings, all of which are prepared extremely well. They also have a small intimate seating area-- very nice in the warmer months. This is a "go-to" place for us. read more

Not sure why it took us so long to discover this place but glad we did. Currently the best sushi in Danville/San Ramon area. Prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. Really enjoyed the bluefin tuna, hamachi and 49ers (salmon) roll. Good selection of sake. Only minus was the poke which was way too spicy. Staff was friendly. read more

My mother has some health food allergies and we were treated so kindly and well. The food was delicious and my mother was able to eat without concern. When you walk in you're greeted by flowers and a welcoming ambiance. Happy we came to eat here and will surely return. read more

This place is awesome! Right on Hartz, it's in an old-fashioned house transformed into a restaurant so it's a nice quaint atmosphere. Always love the vibe here and the food!! Super cool mix of different types of asian food, from sushi to traditional Chinese dishes. The servers are always super friendly and make great suggestions on what to order! What a disappointment. As per my previous review, Yo's on Hartz was our go-to date night. My fiance even took me there before he proposed to me because it was one of our favorite places! Because Yo's is one of our favorite places and we have told many friends about it, a friend gave me a $100 gift card for my birthday. Tonight we went to Yo's with some other friends and tried to pay with the gift card. The waitress came back and said the gift card had no money on it. We had left the gift receipt back home assuming we didn't need it, so my fiance drove home (!) to get the gift receipt which clearly shows the receipt and gift card number match. Because we know the owner Evelyn, my fiance spoke directly with her when he returned, thinking we would have more success resolving the issue. We told her the names of our friends and she said that she remembered an "Angela" coming in and asking for a gift card but not having the money so she gave her the gift card so ours didn't have the money on it but hers did. What?? She tells us some last name of the "Angela" that was not our friend. In the meantime, Evelyn wants us to pay for our meal with our credit card and then talk to our friend and come back with the real gift card another time we have dinner. This was not acceptable to us as we received a gift card and we wanted to use it and the number on the receipt clearly matched the number on the card. Evelyn says she needs us to leave so that she can use the table so can we please pay and leave. We then call our friends (embarrassing!) and explain the situation. They say that they had been to Yo's for lunch a few weeks ago and bought the gift card then. They talk to Evelyn over the phone and she realizes it is, in fact, Yo's error and the gift card did not get the money on it when it was purchased. My fiance explains to Evelyn that he was very embarrassed by this whole situation, hoping at least for an apology since it was their error. This completely ruined our night and was an unfortunate way to leave the night out with our friends. Instead, Evelyn just rudely leaves to go help the other customers because they are "very busy". We are regular customers, we bring our friends, and Evelyn couldn't even give us the benefit of the doubt. Then, when she realized it was her error, she could have still salvaged things by at least apologizing! But instead, she just wanted us out of there to free up the table. What a complete and total disappointment. We will miss our watermelon seduction and godzilla rolls and the very nice employees, but we will not be back! Where else in Danville has good, fun drinks? We're now looking for a new go-to date night spot! read more

I've heard great things about this restaurant since they opened. I just hadn't had the opportunity to come by and check it out for myself. Last night was our opportunity. Great menu and their customer service was better than other Asian fusion restaurants in the area. Why they only got three stars is because the food was amazing, but I wasn't able to enjoy to flavors or the aroma due to the smell of the Green Tea candles on the table. It really took away from the meal. It's been said that you eat with your eyes first then your palate. In this case the nose kicked in first. The decor in this restaurant has a mixture of Asian, Gothic look to it. The ambience here is very nice. It is family oriented, kid and pet friendly. The food here is exceptional. We ordered the Silicon sushi roll and it was very tasty. We also ordered the Short Ribs which is cooked perfectly. The meat comes off the bone very easily and the flavor just bursts out with each bite. The staff here are both professional and friendly. So this used to be China Paradise and now it's called Yo's. Catchy name, cool So, hub and I had a late lunch here and ordered 3 dishes to share. 1 - chicken lettuce wraps 2 - shrimp tempura with spicy sauce 3 - Tao's chicken tacos. No cocktails but wasn't in the mood. The decor is nice, of course asian inspired *red/black, not sure about the stark white walls. My wife and I are huge fans of this place for several reasons: great tasting and large sushi rolls, great service, great ambiance and always a great dining experience. I'm a big fan because it's a mix of sushi, Chinese food dishes and their own spin on several dishes (try the panko brussel sprouts!) so if you're not in the mood for sushi there are many other fantastic options. My go to fave is the Mongolian beef, with extra spicy sauce, but the ahi pizza is another gem (I posted a photo). This is a great date night spot but it's definitely kid friendly and there's families there every time we go. Pricing is consistent with other sushi places but I feel you get more value with the large rolls packed with fresh meat. The appetizer recommended by our server, the fish tartar was awesome (himachi, tuna, avocado, sauce mixed at our table and served with taro chips). What a great way to start the meal. So delicious. Started out fine. Waited 45 minutes to be seated, which was understandable. Waitress was timely with our drink orders, appetizers, and main courses. 3 main courses were served at different times and was still understanding about it. 2 of the party finished, the 3rd finishing up, and I was still waiting on my simple order of rolls. Took 45 mins from ordering when i finally got my order, having reminded 3 different people. Ate it really fast and couldnt wait to leave that place. Two days ago we had lunch--there is an APP to order with, but we weren't able to use it--asked for a printed menu, and were handed one. We ordered. NO mention of prices being different! The glazed ribs were like bones with a messy black sauce. The Poke bowl had a few shreds of tuna only. We pointed out the lack of meat on the ribs to the waitress asking "how is it"--she left without answering. When the bill came it was $16 more than the printed menu said--the waitress said "oh, we never made new menus since Covid--no one wanted to touch one". No apology; just this lame excuse. I've been before--it was all good--and also paid the price on the printed menu. The turn off was so big we won't return--I even used to recommend it! read more

Wow! Unbelievable! 100 STARS Dining!!! Mouth watering fresh authentic Japanese/Asian fusion. We had the Mongolian beef, and every bite was heavenly including the Shrimp friend rice and the Tempura Rolls. The Miso soup was delightful and rich in flavor. The ambiance is a very intimate and peaceful setting which reminded us of being at a vacation at Walt Disney Epcot World Show Case with the beautiful trees and garden setting. One member of our party waited so long for their food everyone else was done. The server took our payment but we had to ask to get our cards back. Yo's is one of the best restaurants on Hartz Avenue in Danville! They have great drinks with fun cocktails and an extensive wine list. The Chinese/Japanese food are equally as amazing, making it one of my fave fusion restaurants in the East bay. When with a big group, we have a few go-to's. For appetizers, I recommend the rock shrimp and wonton tuna tartare tacos...both packed with flavor and I'd eat it everyday if I could! When it comes to dim sum, the Shui Mai and pork buns are always a good choice. The sushi is underrated in my opinion; the quality of the fish is great and it just proves they can really do it all. A secret thing that I absolutely love is ordering the California roll, but instead of having seaweed in the roll, I ask for rice paper in it (I can't explain it, but trust me you have to do this). Employees are so friendly and the environment (especially Thursday-Sunday) is so fun to be in! It's nice to see this place thrive after COVID. Couldn't recommend this place more read more
