Udon noodles
Rachel M.

Great food and service. The Udon noodles, orange chicken and egg rolls were very good.

My daughter just got Lo mien noodles and said they were the worst tasting she ever had. I asked for whatever was the most popular item and it looked like something that my cat threw up. I was asked if I like spicy things and I said yes but I tried a couple of bites and all I could taste was hot. It was overpriced and a waste of $40

Wonton Noodle Soup

I gave two stars since the staff was nice and the service was good. The establishment was clean. I am from San Francisco and I am always trying to find a decent Chinese noodle house north of Denver. I was in the area and saw it had 4.5 stars and gave it a shot. I order the basic wonton noodle soup to test the waters. I also make this at home. The noodles looked like spaghetti noodles and not the traditional egg noodles. The Wontons were 90% thick wrap and only 10% filling. The filling also did not contain any shrimp. Overall, the quality was something I would expect from a Chinese fast food establishment. Not what I expected for $16 (There are no greens in the picture but that was at my request)

Open for the holidays!

Excited to find they were open on Christmas Day. Ordered online and food was ready for pickup in less than 30 minutes. Everything was ready to go when I arrived, handed over with a smile and holiday greetings. A few parties were dining in the restaurant and there looked to be a steady stream of takeout orders. Everything was warm and tasty. Exactly what we needed for a quick family lunch on an otherwise hectic day.

Probably the most authentic Chinese food you'll find in town. The Szechuan beef noodle soup and the wontons in red spicy oil were both very spicy. The noodle soup had plenty of tender beef and noodles. We also got sauteed string beans which came with a side of steamed rice. My favorite was the Shanghai pork dumplings aka soup dumplings. I would say it's a must get

You just want good Chinese food. Go. Just go. Get a spicy dry pot. Throw in some quail eggs. And be happy.

Small place inside the mall, terrific food. Good service. Nothing fancy, just solid food.

Their original kitchen, Zoe Ma Ma is now a half block further west on Pearl. They cover much in the way of Asian specialties for West Pearl. At Dragonfly, they make their own noodles and they are very good. I had some last night in my pho and am looking forward to getting the Yuki Udon next time. My husband wanted a selection of Bao so chose the roasted duck, the pork belly and the Dragonfly. He really liked them all. I love duck Bao so I had one too. Because it was chilly out I got the smoked brisket Pho too and had to bring some home since it was a lot to eat on top of the Bao. I lived the fresh basil leaves and the crunchy crisp bean sprouts. I opted out of the spicy peppers an onion as I find them harsh everywhere. I totally forgot to add a few other options as I live bok choy too. You can get a full menu of options online to order at your table by phone but we prefer and they offer a full sized menu at the counter. Note, that a nominal tip is included which is thoughtful and fair to customers and workers alike. They share duties but noted the owner who makes the noodles in the adjacent space was leaving as we were eating. You can see some of the equipment through the glass partition. They were out of oolong tea and I was hoping for some on a chilly day so I hope it is there next time as a long winter ahead of us. My husband had the iced Thai tea with his Bao. That tea is too sweet for me with condensed milk in it. We will definitely be back later. If I have pho again or my husband has it with rare steak as he plans , I hope the broth will be hotter to cook it some. If we could rate with half stars I'd go 4.5 though it was not quite perfect enough for a 5. But we will be back and pretty soon.

The difficulties with are in my previous reviews. Now much of the facility has been torn down and the ongoing construction of the space to be city staff offices and the bigger space to be affordable housing had become impractical to use or eat at the restaurant. The noise was deafening. In January they moved to a food court on the Hill. This is a lower level of a building with other tenants. There are about 6 food kitchens and each time I have been here this summer and fall, this is the busiest at lunch. Since the seating is communal there is always space and it is clean. The staff here have been really nice. If I'm preparing a meal at home or supplementing leftovers, I have stopped by to get a fave vegetable, baby bok choy, steamed and seasoned and at an affordable side dish price. Today my husband and I walked down for lunch and ordered the Tuesday special street crepes some of the owners have continued from the long gone first owners from Beijing. As with other succeeding owners, they too have continued to use lettuce rather than the bok choy in the crepe. It also has some ham, scallions and crispy wonton bits and a nice spread of hoisin. It is topped with a sprinkle of black sesame seeds that I love. Another difference from the original is that the ingredients of the crepe itself are not well mixed together so many large patches of separate egg white and yolk makes it harder to hold together and not as pretty. But it tastes just fine but original years ago was addicting. I will continue to come here try more of the food from the current owner. I love beef noodles and have 2 other places I can get a good version but this is the most walkable for me. They do very nice prep for takeout which is good too. At lunch it is busy with CU affiliated students, staff and faculty alike. Every item I have had at Flower Pepper is hand made and prepared for the customer.

Not pictured, we also ordered the duck soba noodles and the scallops. Everything tasted delicious. I do wish that I had saved some of the soba for when the hamachi came out but I did order those later. I would have preferred the hamachi to come with a bit of rice on the side but my boyfriend didn't mind the salad. It's a great date spot and if we were to sit inside there's options for Japanese style floor seating. When you go inside they ask you to take off your shoes and provide slippers for the restroom. Izakaya's are Japanese bars that have quick bites and snacks to choose from. I was excited to see we were heading in. Once arrived on Sunday night we were greeted and welcomed. Asked if we would like to take our shoes off and walk in as in Japanese culture this is very common. It really felt like I was in a Japanese izakaya in Japan We ordered - Tofu Steak - Baked Salmon w/ ikura & rice - Duck Skewers - Salmon Carpaccio Everything was delicious and cooked well. I could have ate 2 bowls of the salmon. Everything is nicely sized but a good size to not get too full to order more. This location is combined with another sushi restaurant and it's cool to see the sushi being made in front of you. Will be back!!

Let's start with the cons. 1st off, it would be an order at the counter but they try their hardest to have you get a table and order off your phone, with QR codes everywhere. I had it ready to order off my phone and then it wanted only Google pay, which I don't have hook up to any card. So we had to redo the order on my husband phone. There was not cashier or anyone to ask questions to, not even a greeting when we walked in. When checking out, it automatically asked for 20% tip, I have no waiter or anyone to talk to, why the tip request? Order a couple of things which came out at different times. I did see the sign saying expect 20-25 mins per meal, with it being quite dead in the place I figured our two dumpling orders would at least come out together. I was already done with my meal when my husband's came out. The bathroom! Come on! Not the fact you have to walk through a storage room to get to it, the fact it was so poorly stocked. No toilet paper, paper towels couldn't be in the wall container, but stacked high where a small adult like myself could barely reach it, let alone a kid. Two wall soap dispensers neither were filled, the store bought soap on the sink was almost out. Now why would you say it got three stars? The pan fried dumplings were huge and you got 10 pieces per order. The soup dumplings were good but got super sticky when I tried to wait to eat before the others came out. Pancakes app were great especially with vinegar. Would have appreciated maybe a green onion ginger sauce to be a topper options for the dumplings. The huge pan fried dumplings saved this place, would I go back... Undecided.

Pretty basic place no ambiance. Seems more of a delivery spot…read more Service is horrible. No one even said hi when we walked in.
