I would come here every once in a while with my son. The first time I came which was pre-covid I ended up purchasing one of their packages which consisted of an amount of hours. I would come here and there using the hours. You are allowed to (but I never do) leave your kids to do a project while you shop. Which can be beneficial for some parents. I have never had a problem here, the employees that help with the drawings have always been so kind and patient! I moved out of state this past year and where I live they don't have a "Young Art" but I ended up visiting so of course I stopped by the location, I made an appointment slot for my son. It was going well until the lady (the main person I think Jenny?) told me that if I the parent would like to stay I would have to pay. Not a huge deal it was myself, son, his dad. So we decided we would pay for the second person so one of us can stay, and his dad and I would switch off because we don't leave him alone. Well I was just pondering outside the store basically because I love taking pictures and stuff it's always been our thing.. let me cut to the chase.. **My son kept getting switched painters that helped him so it was frustrating. A family comes in 2 kids three adults and they ALL stayed. I doubt the rules stood for them. Nobody else was painting except the children. HOW ANNOYING. I was basically kicked out or forced to pay to stay with my son! Then a couple walks in with their one child and apparently they were visiting from another country, the main lady again takes our painter helper and tells them they have a special guest all the way from where ever and he must go and help them. They paid for one hour we had 2 but times 2 that's 4 hours paid for since we had to, if one of us wanted to stay. THEN she's rushing me and tells my son to paint this way, when the other helper comes back to our table he said it wasn't the right way for the fading effect I said well she said for it be that way and he made a face rolling eye because she shouldn't have because it was sh1t, clearly we were not a priority. Like I mentioned the employee paint teachers are always awesome. But the manager pissed me off. Discrimination basically. read more

This place is cool! I like the drop in art lesson and shop option. It was a fun activity to do with the kids and their friend. We had been wanting to try it for awhile. The staff is friendly and upbeat. The drawing options are popular characters so my son was happy to choose his current favorite! He did well so I hope it builds his confidence! The teacher gave simple steps which was good for their age group: 4 and two 6 year olds. I stayed to watch and the teacher explained we will start with simple shapes. Afterward, my son was able to retell the steps when asked how did you do the art. The kids did well to follow the process and had fun with their friends! We did 15 min session and they did great! They went over the time limit so we had to pay a little more. Also tips are suggested. The art wasn't quite dry and carrying it out was a bit of a challenge. My kid was holding the art and held it against her and her brand new shirt got paint! They taped the art to cardboard and offered mattes to purchase. Mattes included in the price would be helpful or another way to transport the art. The kids also got to pick a prize at the end and were directed to wash their hands. They have very cool art supplies that cost a pretty penny. It would be good for older children who can take care of the materials. I think my teenage niece would have fun here. I wonder if the teachers are art students. They offer punch cards for several hours as well as gift cards in the amounts of the different timed sessions. These would make great gifts! Overall, it is a great experience for my child because he had a great result at the end of a short session! This is a great place to take your children for some drawing lessons. My daughter was running towards the play ground but instead of going straight to the play area she ended up running inside this place. She loves art. She kept asking me if she can try the drawing lesson here because she saw a child drawing. She wanted to draw Pickachu. I let her try it out. Now she wants to continue to take her drawing lessons here. The lady at the counter is very nice. The teachers teaching the kids how to draw are also very nice. They teach the kids how to draw step by step. You can also purchase some art materials inside. You are also allowed to leave your child or your children here if you want. Went here because we thought the art supplies were cool, and we were drawn to taking a class because an employee was demonstrating what cool things you can do with the supplies. However. When my daughter had the lesson, she got a different "teacher" who didn't teach her all the cool things. She gave her a piece of paper and left her to do it on her own. Most likely because the employee was tending to 5 other kids. Word of advice, keep a close eye on the time because they will not stop at the time you want and will keep going, which means you will keep paying. read more

I've been bringing my kids here since they were just barely 3 and it's so much fun! Now that they're older their art is getting more and more complex. It's a great way for them to break up the tedium or shopping with mom and gives me a break, too, so I can go take my time in some stores they might not enjoy. We originally went to this Young Art store in Westfield Valley Fair and bought lessons. After our lessons ran out, my daughter (4 years old) wanted to go, so she went in. I told her that we would call mom to see how much prepaid time we should purchase, since I knew we were out of lessons. I gestured for my daughter to come, but upon leaving the store, one of the employees (skinny Asian lady), attempted to whisk my daughter back into the store, by gently guiding her around the shoulder and ask her "Hey Sweetie, so what do you want to draw today?". WITHOUT. MY. PERMISSION. This was not okay. I've already told my daughter that we won't be back and she's fine with it. read more

Wonderful place for a party!!! We just had my daughter's 7th birthday party here....we had a group of ten kids ages 2-7. Personally, I think 10 kids would be the max I would have due to spacing. It would be too crowded with more than that. Everyone had their own space to create their masterpiece. They had 3-4 staff members guiding our kids. Everyone had fun... and I thought the party was a huge success. The only hiccup we had was one of the teachers basically painted the entire painting for my 4 year old boy. So if you have a party, make sure to let the staff know your preferences beforehand! That way, you won't be left with a professional painting done by someone else! Also, be prepared to spend an extra $10-12 for each frame because they promote it quite a bit. I think for a party, they should really include it in and up the price. It's very awkward when one parent buys it and all other parents are pressured into buying it. Either that or tell everyone about it and wait until after the party ends to start selling them. This framing issue needs to be addressed...especially because in a party atmosphere, I as the host wouldn't want to pressure other parents into spending additional money unexpectedly. Also, you are allowed to bring food!! This is a great plus because many of these party venues don't allow food, just cake. I brought my cousin here few weeks ago and right when we stepped in it was amazing she fell in love with the place! My son loves going to this place. Hes constantly drawing and trying to improve his skills. Going to Young Art is one of his top choices to when asked "where would you like to go today?" The staff there are great. My son has learn how to draw more realistic photos and how to shade properly. Aside from painting and drawing, he was also able to create structure, creatures, and other object with clay and playdoh, all under the guidance of Young Art's highly qualified staff. And during this time of Coronavirus crisis, they have even been able to offer and provide classes remotely via online streaming with the same lovable staff that my son knows. Took my two children, 11 and 13 years old. 11 year old is an advanced artist (with a lot of free hand portraits and abstract drawings/paintings)... she had a full and wonderful experience, creating her art piece as well as socializing with the other children artists, and interacting with the teachers. She enjoyed her first visit so much she convinced our 13 year old to give it a try. Our 13 year old did a digital art session using the Wacom tablet. With one-on-one instruction from a specialized digital teacher, he finished his session with a complete art piece and learned how to use a new art medium. read more

Cool store with friendly staff. Pricing for the lessons seems to be a bit high, so I hope they'd adjust it in the future or provide some sort of promotion. I'm giving it 4 stars because they are still new and need more staff present to better serve their customers. It would be nice to see each teacher with 2 students, someone at the register full time to answer questions and greet incoming guests. I'm sure they will adjust the number of staff as they learn more about the traffic of the store. I look forward to having more sessions here read more

We have been coming to Young Art for as long as the shop has been opened. My kids LOVE coming. We have hosted birthday parties there, and today was the first time we hired them for a birthday party away from the shop and located in our neighborhood. The wonderful team of Sofia and Melina brought all of their own supplies (including table cloths), and made the experience for the kids amazing. We built cars powered by balloons, played with clay, and the two hours flew by so quickly. Thank you, Young Art, once again for such an awesome experience!! read more

I had my daughter's birthday here and by far it is one worse place. They double booked and the space they promised for my daughter's birthday was given to another birthday party. 14 kids had to be smashed in tiny corner. They gave us $20 gift card to make up for it but I paid nearly $450 so that was not enough. My wife booked this location for my daughter's birthday party this year. We had 8 friends come, a mix of boys and girls. For 2 1/2 hours, the kids, all early grade school aged, were excited but attentive, as the staff led them through face painting, fingernail painting, and finally a painting in paper based on one of the samples they have on the wall. The samples are many and varied. The way they helped the kids was really great - simple, but very effective at arriving at the final picture the kids chose. This wasn't an inexpensive party, and I'm not sure we will repeat it again for a birthday party, but we were thrilled with the value we received. Took my two kids here (5 & 3 y.o.). The price is steep for what you get, around $25 per child for a 30 min "class." The place was overcrowded so we had to wait in line to pay and then wait 35 min for a spot to open up. We were given a designated time to return. Once we came back we still had to line up to check in and there's only one person at the register who was on the phone with a customer for a long time while a few parents were in line. Finally we sit down, the art teacher is frazzled since she's handling way too many kids. I'm glad I stayed for the whole time so I can see the entire process. The teacher asks what they want to draw, she then outlines it for them and they trace it, then paint it in. There's barely any instruction & half the time my kids were waiting for the teacher to pay attention to them. When the time was up the teacher puts the paintings in a drying rack and told us to return anytime to pick it up. When we returned, my 3 y.o 's painting was missing. She was so sad and kept asking why someone would take her painting when it has her name on it. I had to flag the teacher down and ask her what happened. She tried to laugh it off saying that the image was popular and someone probably took it by mistake. She said maybe they will bring it back and the store can call me to come pick it up if it happens. I could have complained about how unlikely that is to happen or the fact that it's inconvenient to come back since I live 25 min away and would have to fight for parking over again ...however I was too busy consoling my child. Two days later she still asks about the panting. It would have been nice if they offered an apology to my kid or gave her some coloring paper to take home but we got nothing. This is the worst art studio I've ever been. We came to this mall for lunch and the kids found out this place and we went in and asked for information. The guy said they offer drop in classes from 15 minutes to an hour. Depends on the length of the class, the kids draw on different size of paper and so they can finish the picture within the time frame. They guy also showed us the water color pastel and told the kids they will be using that technique during the lesson. I paid for $40 for the two girls to join a 30 minutes session. When I came back after 30 minutes, I found out that my girls were basically free drawing on their own. One of my girl was crying because she doesn't like her picture. The other girl was not even finished her pencil sketching. The technique that the guy showed us was not used at all. In fact I saw no lesson going on at all. Basically I paid for $40 for 30 minutes baby-sitting. Worst experience ever. By the way, both my girls started learn drawing since 4 years old. We've been to various art studios and classes and this is the very first time they were hating it. They ate 7 & 10 years old. read more

This is more of a drop off to keep your kids occupied while you shop sort of place. However, all of the instructors are very nice and try their best. There's hardly any teaching of art techniques. This is true for a 30 min session or an hour long session. The only difference in time is the size of paper and drawing. For what it's worth, the price is steep. We bought a 8 hour prepaid card so we'll be coming back to use it all up, but will not be buying additional hours. I have mixed emotions about this place. My daughter loves art, and I see what she can do. I bought the package for her for 4 or 5hrs? I can't remember exactly which one. Anyway, She has been here twice. Each time she leaves here shes so happy that she got to do what she loves. My dilemma is... when I have dropped her off, it seems as she is lost, they have me put my number in the system, choose how long she will be there and off she goes to the back. When she goes to the back she is kind of standing there with a puzzled look like which table do I go to? And who is going to help me? I have peeked just to see what would happen, after 5-7 min of her sitting at a table, a teacher will then talk to her. Draw simple steps on the table and off the teacher goes to another student. This has happened twice, once wasn't busy, but another time it was and it was worse. Like I said I have mixed emotions about this place, I like it, but I don't love it. I will try again, but at this point I just want to finish up the hours I have left so I can try a different art place. read more

This is a really nice option for shopping parents with kids love to paint. We have being for quite some time and my kid loves it.

We came here few times and our experience ranges from excellent to very bad. The time my daughter had a great experience is when the teacher guided her through creating her imaginary idea of a rainbow waterfall. The very bad experience is when there were very young kids who couldn't sit still, even one of them ran out of the studio! The staff managed to take the escaped kid to the play area by the time the parents showed up (took them a while!). The staff were smiling and apologizing about the situation. But my daughter complained that it was so distracting and the teachers weren't able to guide her through her work since they were busy trying to control the situation with the little kids. The management needs to decide wether they are a babysitting place or an art studio. It is so unsafe to drop off young kids and so distracting to other kids. Teachers are supposed coach the kids through their art work instead of running after the little ones. read more
