But they made up for it by giving me and my girlfriend an upgrade SUV vehicle at the same cost as a sedan. I received the car with a full tank and clean interior. There was no line like these other rental places. I recieved my car within 10 minutes of arriving. I needed to make last minute changes to the reservation and extend the car rental and they were very helpful and accommodating. Dropping off was simple. I had to drop off after hours and all I needed to do was drop the keys in a box and Uber to the airport since they don't do shuttles at night. I will definitely book with them again for our next visit.

Driving around on an island where it rains often, I really think having functional wiper blades is a low bar to clear. The sliding doors were really difficult to open, very sticky and our kids struggled to open them themselves. The locking mechanisms were weird and no buttons on the key fob worked. He showed up in a pickup truck and I was confused because we hired him to tow the car to Lihue. My wife and 2 kids were there alone, so I was talking to the owner, Chason Manoi by phone. The car was disabled with a transmission problem. Chason was able to get the car into gear, but the dash screen showed a warning message that the transmission had a problem and not to drive it. Because of the dash warning, I insisted that Chason either tow the car or follow my family from that remote location to Lihue, since it was a transmission problem and could happen again. Chason promised that he would follow my family in the car, but then broke his promise and immediately left them alone, far from a town, in a car that was still broken. He stopped responding to texts and calls and kept the $1570. He never gave my family any receipt or paperwork, as required by the agreement I signed when I prepaid for the tow. The Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection sent them a demand letter, but Pa'A Hana Towing ignored that too. I don't usually leave reviews and have never left a negative review, but Pa'A Hana Towing was so dishonest in the way they treated us that I feel I have to... so that it doesn't happen to other people.

They failed to show up for an emergency recovery, refused to refund the excessive charge, lied repeatedly and engaged in what I believe is outright fraud. After our vehicle got stuck in a remote area, we were forced to prepay $2,617.80 for a quote that inexplicably jumped from the $2,000. (Which is still significantly higher than local laws are supposed to permit.) At 3:40, we were promised an ETA of 6:00 PM. They completely failed to show up, leaving us stranded in the dark for hours in a dangerous, remote location. Due to their no-show and safety concerns, we were forced to perform an extremely difficult self-recovery. We finally got free at 8:59 PM and immediately cancelled the service via text. The merchant never arrived at the recovery site. Thirty minutes AFTER I cancelled the contract, they sent a misleading photo taken miles away from our location, falsely claiming they were "here" to justify keeping the $2,617.80. This was a clear attempt to claim they performed a service that never happened. I filed a formal charge dispute with my credit card company, presenting the full timeline and evidence. They agreed with my claim of "Services Not Rendered" and issued a full refund. Avoid this company at all costs. They took advantage of an emergency situation, failed to provide service, and then tried to scam us out of a massive payment. The only way I got my money back was through a credit card dispute. They repeatedly lied along the way and fought the refund. I think that they never planned on showing up that night at all, getting to us from any point on the island shouldn't have taken more than 2 hours. I'm leaving this review everywhere to warn others.

After having difficulty reaching the Hanalei office despite several calls over multiple days, the Kalaheo office was kind enough to assist me. David, in particular, went above and beyond. Even though my issue wasn't something he would normally handle, he took the time to help and followed up with me personally to let me know he had been able to resolve a package issue. I really appreciated his extra effort and excellent customer service.

He warned us it would be a drive, but he showed up exactly when he said he would to rescue us. He was efficient, treated our vehicle with care, and was genuinely a kind person to talk to during a very stressful moment.
