We tried to reach him via phone, text, and email for several months. To this day our backyard is a mud pit. At this point, we just want a refund of the significant deposit we paid him. Robert only recently responded about a month ago when I said I was writing an honest review of our horrendous experience. He offered no explanation for his disappearance only excuses. And no, we still have not received a refund as of January 26, 2026. We are out a big chunk of money. It's been a complete nightmare. This has been the most disappointing and disheartening experience we have ever had. Avoid doing any type of business with Robert Heltzel at Total Turf and Greens.

The first day was a hot, sunny day. The man who came aerated my lawn. He told me that he was too tired to do anything else and he was going home. He wanted to be paid even though he had not completed the treatment. I already had a check made out to him for the aeration, as well as the spraying; so I showed it to him and told him that I would give it to him when he completed the work. He was supposed to come back the next day. Next day - no show or phone call. The third day someone came and completed the treatment and accepted payment. I fired them, but someone came at another time to treat my lawn. I told him that they had been fired. I would have continued to work with them except for the old guy who came out first blighted the whole experience.

Then at a moment's notice repaired an unexpected downspout drainage issue from a previous landscaper the same day. Their ability to help make the repair was incredible. Second, they had to come back to correct my initial landscaper's poor drainage issue which was worse than previously thought. Donny's crew worked hard to undo a mess from someone else, and the price was fair for the work that they were doing. After all the work they did, the crew cleaned up and did not leave a trace of evidence that they were there. The work is solid, and my yard is looking good. The method that Donny's crew used is working perfectly. Overall, their price is reasonable, they are flexible, showed up when they were supposed to, answered my calls/txt quickly, and cleaned up after the jobs were completed. They had trouble fixing that bad valve, but they didn't give up. They stayed until the job was done, which took several hours due to leaks in the underground pipes. At any point they could've given up and left me with an underground leak, but they took pride in their work. They did not try to charge me extra beyond what they initially quoted. When I had problems with low water pressure afterwards, they came back out and checked the main water supply. The quickly solved the problem, again, without an extra charge. These are good men of integrity, and I recommend them!

Do not use this landscaper. It's terrible. There are many reasons…read more 1. They put sod down without trimming the tree in front first. I had to call them 2 times and email and then they showed up. never got a hold of anyone but the answering services. 2. Bad communication, they don't reply to emails and only reply to calls if you are lucky, they do not give you updates while on site unless you initiate it. 3. Did bad job trimming limbs off tree. 4. sod has gaps in it and seems more cut up than it should be. parts of it where brown when put down and have gotten worse even with water and sun. 5. dumped excess mulch and the tree branches in the hill of my neighbors backyard, probably thought it's mine but it's not and i don't want it either 6. I ordered 2 pallets of sod but I suspect I'm missing around 150 sq ft. and there was area to put it. 7. they were supposed to try to go around the healthy grass so that the sod could go further. I can't hold it against them cause the key word was try but when I went out the morning they did it they started there with the machine. not in the bad areas on the side of lawn by driveway. They drove the machine across to the healthy patch on the other side of yard and started there. Even after talking to the supervisor a couple days before. 8. There were several wires found cut. laying with the trash they were taking away. I suspect they cut the cable line which I don't use and a grounding wire. It wouldn't have been so bad if they just told me about it instead of me walking around after the left and finding stuff. 9. I got the bill today but there was no discussion of doing a walk through of their work. 10. they left site like it was done on 5/30 friday. Didn't show up on Monday so I called cause they still hadn't trimmed tree and didn't put sod where they took out the bush by the garage. They came back once to do tree last week but didn't finish. came again yesterday 6/10 and finished tree, suck job of course, dumped tree limbs in backyard and put the sod where bush was removed but they were supposed to also take it slightly in front of it. i had talked to both the guy that did the quote and the onsite supervisor about it and still missed it. Only time will tell if the drain works. Let's pray. I'll put pics if this lets me.
