The only reason this restaurant gets 4 stars as opposed to 5 is the service and pricing. The food, although delicious, is very pricey. A single dish averaged about $15 and up - including the sushi rolls. My family ended up ordering rice and two dishes to share. While the staff was very friendly, service was quite poor. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Even though it was small, they seemed understaffed. However, it seems to be a recurring problem because they had service bells installed, which made the experience a bit impersonal. I am a Korean so I know a little about Korean food. While I was visiting Niagara Falls, I happened to tumble into this place because it was the first Korean restaurant in my sight. It was a little after 3 and the place was completely empty. I and my wife both ordered "Neng-myun", which is a Korean style cold noodle. After the food came out, we asked for some Neng-myun mustard, but the server tells us they ran out of it. Neng-myun without the mustard? Completely ridiculous. Then the server never comes back for anything. When we asked for the bill, the server finally visits our table. While I was swiping my credit card, I asked the server "So is water a "self-service"?" We ordered two bibimbaps and there were tons of lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots and only 5-6 pieces of meat for $18 each! The place is terribly overpriced for everything. The seafood and soft tofu pot costs more than 50 for 3 people, but it only has 3 small shrimps and 3 small mussel. The pot is full of cheap tofu. Their waitress are horrible. When they don't know how to handle your question, they pretend not understand English. They discussed customers in Korean in the back. A Young Garden was yummy and had great service. It was a nice change pace from the usual touristy fare right around Niagara Falls. It was a short walk from the Hilton, and most of the other big hotels here. And it had a bit of spectacle - cooking meat on a grill in the middle of the table. We visit Young Garden about once a year. It's easily the best Korean restaurant in the area. So clean and modern. The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Korean dishes plus a full sushi menu. We had the avocado rolls, soybean paste stew, and tempura lunch box - all were outstanding. We had two waiters who were super nice and helpful. The food came quickly, and the owner even came by to say hello. We'll definitely continue to go. You can't go wrong here. read more

It's hard to rate this restaurant, because some aspects were GREAT and others were very disappointing. But that's what this review is for!! We went here for lunch on Saturday while visiting Niagara Falls. My family is Korean, btw, so we are fairly picky about our Korean bbq. The plus side is that the food is delicious. The sundubu and other soups we got were great, and the portions were generous. The bulgogi and kalbi were fresh and delicious. The banchan were just OK, the kimchi tasted straight from a jar, but that's pretty typical. The downside was the poor service. After delivering our food, our waiter never stopped in to check whether we needed drink refills or anything. We had to flag different wait staff down 3 times to fill up our hot tea, order some more items, and get the check -- and we were one of only two tables filled at the whole place! That wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't so pricey. 6 people eating to fullness with no leftovers cost $260. The food was worth it, but not with that service! Thus 3/5 stars. If I find myself back at Niagara, I won't be back at Ayoung Garden again. read more

This place was really delicious! My husband ordered the Buogogi and it came with 4 sides and a bowl of rice. They kept asking if he wanted more sides and even gave him more rice and were very accommodating. I had gotten the yaki udon and it was super delicious! I chose beef in it and it was super juicy and the beef they use for the buogogi. There was more than enough food for us and we couldn't even finish our meals. Everything was very clean and the staff was super nice and friendly. They loved our daughter and had a high chair for her to sit in and they would come over to say hi to her. If you like Korean food then I recommend it. read more

I came here for supper on my second night of my mini trip to Niagara Falls with my boyfriend. He had eaten a large and pretty late lunch so wasn't hungry for supper. I could see the sign for this place from outside our hotel window and it was pouring rain so I decided to give it a go. I ordered a seaweed salad as a starter and Namu for my meal. Because I'm allergic to tuna I think that my selection of sushi's and maki's for the Namu plate was less eclectic than normal. I had 5 salmon, 3 Halibut and 2 Shrimp sushi's and 6 California roll maki's. I was expecting something a bit more fancy for my selection, not something that easily comes from the sushi Shop. The waitress didn't wait for me to finish my seaweed salad before giving me my main plate. Also my seaweed salad was still frozen in the middle. While I was finishing up my meal, I was the only one left in the restaurant and the waitress and the rest of the staff had started eating their supper as well. I had run out of my water and wanted to know about the ice cream options but the waitress was too busy chatting with the rest of the staff. About 10-15 minutes later she finished her meal and came to see me. I was not too impressed, I don't recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some amazing sushi or if you are looking to dine later in the evening because you will have to wait for everyone else to finish eating first. read more

Went with family for some Korean BBQ - they gave us a private room for us to cook our own meats - got pork belly and kalbi. Also ordered another soup and a bim bim bap. Meats were very well-marinated and it comes with a nice tofu soup. Side dishes are minimal for a Korean restaurant. Prices are on the high side, but I guess it's expected for this very touristy area. And the soups presentation was atrocious putting em in bags and bent cups. Also a small note the mushrooms in the bulgogi were falsely advertised. This was the only asian restaurant by my hotel at fallsview so I came here for lunch. We came as a party of 8 just a little bit after 11am, so the place was pretty empty. The waitress seemed a bit shy but was very nice. The sushi menu was not available when we went so we only ordered korean dishes. They were definitely on the expensive side for very standard food. Some of my family members commented that the bibimbap was a bit bland and she recommended using hot sauce. The waitress area was a bit blocked off from where we sat so sometimes it took a bit to get her attention. Still I thought it was an enjoyable experience. However, we came back later that night to have dinner and the experience was definitely different. The food was the same but the service was definitely different. There were more people but the place was not completely packed. We had a different waiter and he was not attentive at all. We sat in one of the sectioned off opened rooms this time and when we were ready to order, we pressed the service button by the wall. No one came to us after 5 minutes so we pushed the button again, multiple times. Our waiter looked up as if you see that we pressed the button but still did not come to our table for another 5-10 mins. When he finally came over, he was a bit offstandish, took our orders and took a while to even get us water. When the food arrived, he didn't really make an effort to place the food in front of the person who ordered it. It was more like he placed it on the table and had us pass it down. Since the food was pretty hot, I felt a little irked by that. Later it also took a while to flag him down to get soy sauce. When the check arrived, a 17% tip was already added, probably since we were a big group. But in the morning, no tip was added so that seemed like another minus to me since I felt like the service wasn't great this time and it deserved a smaller tip. We decided to try this restaurant because it got a high rating on Yelp. They were unbelievably overpriced for the quantity and quality. My husband had the seafood stew. The one shrimp came with head and tail and it was overcooked. There was one mussel and it smelled bad, and it was brought out boiling in a ceramic pot, so hot you could not eat it for a long while. I had the shrimp tempura dish and I got 6 small shrimps and 5 pieces of vegetables, good thing I wasn't very hungry. We went there as a family with my two sons and we really enjoyed it. Great authentic korean food close to the falls. Our favourite was their BBQ kalbi and their sushi is phenomenal. Sometimes I find that restaurants make their kalbi too sweet or too salty (using too much soysauce in their marinade) but this place really made it well. We only saw the waitress once, which was when she sat us. When we paid the bill, the lady had the nerve to stop us as we walked out and asked for a tip. What the heck do they need a tip for if they did absolutely NOTHING? I will NEVER return here.
