They understood my reasoning and allowed me to attend the class. let me tell you using your own body weight to work out is not for the faint of heart. I feel as I received a full workout in that 30 minute timeframe the instructor was extremely knowledgeable and asked for permission if she needed to reposition any of us. I would happily join if the cost was more feasible, and I was going to be in the state longer than I am.

Ki Lan has been expanding her certifications so she now is teaching classes in Yamuna Body Rolling in addition to Pilates. Think of Yamuna like a 2 hour massage that you give yourself. And then go to YouTube and watch a video. I appreciate KI Lan's hands-on approach to instructing, and the care she takes to watch my body move to be sure that I'm moving in the right way, instead of just counting out the number of reps. There's always something new to try depending on how I'm feeling or what my body is telling her that I'm not necessarily able to see or vocalize. We laugh, we share stories, I stretch and my glutes (among other muscles) get a great workout! I love/hate the bosu, which only means that I should do more work on/with it. It was pretty easy to pick me out because I was the only guy but at no stage did I feel that way. Quite honestly, I was also so busy with the routine that the time flew by. Carmela took me thru the basics and helped me understand what I needed to do for each exercise. For those who have never tried pilates, please try it. Some of the exercises identified some areas of my body that need some serious work! That being said, she was clear on making sure that my form was correct and when I "cheated" by using other muscles, she corrected me. It was a blast and will be scheduling regular visits.

I feel stronger, more energetic, and I have even lost a little weight (miracles do happen, apparently). I've tried classes with all the instructors, and every one of them is fantastic. The workouts are very well balanced and thoughtfully structured - each class combines cardio, strength training, stretching, and static exercises, so your whole body gets attention instead of just one confused muscle group.
