Called Roland about a car today, letting him know I was in Houston. I asked him to tell me about the car and whether the car was salvaged. The price was good but not enough to were you thought it might be salvaged (classic salvage dealer trick). He quickly assured me that it was not. He knew a good bit about the model of the car but wasn't extremely forthcoming on the specific car there. I pulled up the CarFax later (it's always nice to see if a dealer will be forthcoming with your first, if the car is on their lot, they should know the history). Car pulled up clean....with the exception of 6 previous owners in 4 years (4 during a 16 month period). This is an obvious case of a classic title wash. Used car facilities have their ways. Roland was about to have me come all the way from Houston for a salvaged vehicle. Later I googled the VIN and sure enough found it in the web archive of a salvage auction site. I had a great experience at the "Your Choice Car" dealership on El Cajon Blvd in El Cajon. I had done a great deal of searching before finding a car at this dealership. Brian, the owner assisted me. He offered the best deal I had seen on a used car. Brian was not pushy, nor aggressive about the sale. He was very upfront about the details of the car. The car had a "CarFax" report and a clean title. I am really enjoying my car and want to thank Brian for all of his help. I recently bought a 2003 Volvo s-60 from this dealership. I can safely say that there are no high pressure sales tactics here. I traded in a high mileage SUV for the low-mile Volvo. Roland was the sales agent and he let me walk the lot in peace, and test drive anything I wanted without asking me a million questions, or trying to solve my problem. They are up front about the salvaged titles here and have extensive background information and pictures documenting the vehicle history. In this case I bought a car that had front end damage and was considered totaled for insurance purposes. They were honest about their vehicles, and the vehicles come at a great price. Secondly, a week or so later, I noticed that a repair needed to be made to the driver side door. They were able to fix it for free. I took the car to the Volvo dealership first and got a $700 estimate, but Roland told me to come by and have them take a look. Jeremy the general manager had someone fix the door issue, and I was on my way. Buying a car with a salvaged title can be risky, but not here. They are honest, and forthright about the vehicles they sell, and you can't beat the prices that come with a salvage title. I've actually had no experience with this dealership personally, but I was interested in a couple vehicles they have posted online for sale. I didn't want to pay for the carfax if i hadn't even seen the car yet, but I found a way through the DMV website to see if the car had a clean or salvage title. Well, BOTH the cars I was interested in have salvage titles. Just a heads up for anybody looking at used cars from this place: They ONLY offer used cars with salvaged titles & they don't offer any financing. It's cash only. I'm giving this place 3 stars because the service was friendly and not pushy at all, they allowed me to walk around the lot and check out anything I wanted without somebody constantly trying to sell me on it. But after hearing everything there was salvaged, they only accepted cash, and every car is sold "as-is" then I was quickly out of there. read more

We recently purchased a Toyota 4Runner from Your Choice Car last month and I felt compelled to write a comment here, not only because we enjoy our vehicle so much but because of the courteous follow-up attention we received after we drove it home. It's true, the vehicles have "revived salvaged titles" but this was made clear over the phone before we took the long trip down. Bijan, Andrew and Roland were helpful and the non-pushy atmosphere was nice to. They followed through with their promise to repair anything our mechanic found wrong with the vehicle. This service made our purchasing a vehicle like this much easier as they are not a large dealership where one would expect this kind of service. We were pre-qualified on a loan but they also offer financing. Our vehicle was clean and affordable. We enjoy it very much and would recommend anyone to check out this dealership. read more

I would not recommend buying a car from here. It took me 2 months to get my plates and registration. I bought the car cash and still haven't received the title. The car has already had two major maintenance issues and since it's buy "as-is" the most they'll do is refer you to a repair shop that may or may not give you a discount. This is the first time in 14 years of car buying (I've owned 5 cars) that I have regretted buying a vehicle. I feel that I wasted $7000 on a piece of junk that I can't get rid of because I don't have the title. read more

Updated, re-reposted yet again on 5/29/12: This car dealer has tried to squelch this review multiple times, after responding to my original review with misinformation. It's almost comical at this point. He has been working so hard to get my review taken down and has convinced Yelp to remove my review a couple of times, but I'll just keep re-posting the review every time he gets it pulled. Too bad he never made a tiny fraction of the effort to make it right to begin with. My daughter-in-law was scared of their threats to ruin her credit rating and ultimately declined to pursue this in small claims court against my recommendation, so they effectively got $600 for a one day car rental. In his response to my original review, he wrote "As Mr. Arnold said we do sell Salvage title cars... What Mr. Arnold didn't mention was he was offered to take the car overnight to have it inspected at no charge. He refused stating he didn't have the time." That is an outright lie. I was there. Only my son, my daughter-in-law, their salesman (name redacted), and I were in the room when this was discussed, so there is no way the owner could have known what transpired (now over a year ago!) and what we agreed to. The salesman called my daughter-in-law on the phone to threaten to ruin her credit if she didn't pay an additional $450 on top of the $150 she paid when she picked up the car to have it checked out. I advised her against giving him way too much money for what amounted to a one day car rental after our mechanic checked the car out and told us it would be unsafe in a crash. She returned the car the next day, but she was scared by his threats and gave him the money anyway. If he was truly interested in fair dealing, the firm should not have responded by threatening to ruin my daughter-in-law's credit if she didn't pay the additional $450 fee. Hey Mr. "Owner who objects to posting his name": it's just common business sense: you'd be way better off owning up to what you did and be reasonable instead of threats, lies and working so very hard to get my review pulled. I still stand by my review, and I am re-posting the original review below to help others avoid what happened to us. The owner has convinced Yelp to remove my entire review (*twice* so far) because he claimed it contained "private information," making it subject to removal. In reality it was the business entity ownership information in the public record that *anyone* can obtain. If you get the impression I'm even more ticked off by these guys and their continuing, repetitive dodgy behavior now than I was when I wrote the original review, then you'd be right. ----- Original Review: ----- Be Forewarned and Prepared: The cars for sale here are "salvaged" which means they've been in an accident, so the price is less than one would otherwise pay. That is not the problem. When we purchased a vehicle, the salesman lied outright to us about the extent of the damage to the vehicle, saying the crash damage was only cosmetic. Fortunately we paid the $150 fee to be able to cancel the sale within 72 hours if it failed inspection when we took the vehicle to a trusted mechanic. When our mechanic put it up on the jack, he immediately identified that it had sustained extensive and unrepairable damage that would render it unsafe to the occupants in the event of another crash. The car was returned well within the 72 hour limit. He then began harassing and threatening my duaghter-in-law to pay an additional $450+ or he would "send it to collection to ruin our credit record." I suspect most people never have a mechanic inspect the vehicle for safety issues, so they are unknowingly driving around in an unsafe vehicle. We have maintained all the documentation supporting our claims, and are prepared to take it to small claims court if it should be necessary. These guys are great! My husband bought a car (salvaged) at a fraction of what the car is worth and it has been great to us so far. This is a very low-pressure dealership and the guys are very honest about the history of the cars. I would recommend going here if you are interested in a great car that you don't plan on re-selling or trading in (because the titles are salvaged). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because we did have an issue where the front door wouldn't open the week we bought it. But the guys at Your choice helped us fix it at NO COST...that is something the definitely didn't have to do, since we bought the car as-in. They also do have some clean title cars. Definitely go there before going to The Big Tent Sale, where you will get horrible, shady service and overpay for worse quality cars. read more

Was skeptical at first apon seeing all the red tags in the windows (Salvage) but apon speaking to the owner I found exactly the car I was looking for After a weakened and 200 miles of driving to each dealership. They do offer financing on cars that are not salvage (you can't finance a salvage) not in house but Bjaan (sp) I believe who is the owner set me up and approved me with Some banks he is connected with and also gave me the option to find my own Financing option for a lower rate within a week deadline. and apon showing me what he paid for the car and the carfax before even talking prices i was sold. Very nice positive man. I am glad to have done businesses with him. I agree with Mr. Arnold. We bought a car from this dealer knowing it was salvalged title. The CarFax, however, said there was no frame damage and the photos we saw showed relatively little outward damage to the car. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The hood of the car flew open while we were driving 60 mph. Three inspectors attribute it to faulty repair from the original accident and upon further inspection of our car warned us that the car was not safe to drive at all due to the frame damage that had not been repaired properly, all of which we could not see ourselves, and all of which Mr. Bodger did not disclose to us. If you choose to buy a salvaged car from this lot or any other, please be sure to have it inspected by a body shop. We narrowly missed having a head-on collision with four of our family in the vehicle when the hood flew open. Great place to do business with. They had a car I specifically wanted and when I went there to look at it, I was told about how they usually sell salvaged cars except for a couple that'll be clean. The car I wanted had a clean title and I was shown it. So I knew I wasn't being lied to. I test drove it then went home. I came back the next day and test drove it again. I was then allowed to drive it home and keep it overnight so that my mechanic could check it out. Your Choice Car was so awesome to let me do that. They explained everything about their car-buying process plus a lot of the rules were posted on the wall. Not sure why some people complain about this place. I had a great experience. read more

These guys are what everyone talks about when they talk about the sterotypical used car salesman. My son and I bought a car from them. OK I understand it was used and it had a salvage title, but they said it was smogged and everything was good to go. After waiting almost 3 months for the plates, and several calls, they finally tell us thar we need to bring the car back as there are some problems with the smog paperwork. This did not come as a suprise to me, as we took it to the Mazda dealer 1 week after buying it as the check engine light came on. It needed a new catalytic converter, 1600$. I told my son, no problem if we wait a bit as the car passed smog for this year. Well guess what it did not. They took it someplace in south bay to get it resmogged. Not sure how it passed smog with the bad catalytic converter still in place. At this point I just want my plates. I understand used car and all but dam''it just quit lying and mail me my plates. would never deal with these guys again and the next car we buy will be new. read more

I wish I could give this 0 stars. I bought a car from here 6 months ago. I was told the car had got side impacted damage no other issues. The car seemed to be fine Roland let me test drive the vehicle etc. I took the deal and not even 4 months later it had transmission issues called and they acted like they didn't know me and making sarcastic remarks about the situation. By the 6th month of owning the car I was driving back home for christmas and what do you know the car gos out and I was unable to go home. I get it towed to a dealership and they tell me that its not worth anything really at this point and its at a total loss. If I get it fixed it would be around 6 grand. Please do not buy a car or do any dealings with Your Choice Car. This is a scam outfit they may have nice prices and nice looking cars but really its all one big game to get you to shell out your money so they can sell you a piece of trash car. This place should be shut down cars demolished and owner/seller sued & thrown in jail. read more

we purchased a car from Your Choice Auto about 3 months ago.... still haven't got our plates or registration. Car was bought as is and we paid around 2500 for a warranty. just got a letter in the mail saying that the warranty company was never paid by them. Also upon purchase of vehicle we noticed oil burning on the engine. They said they would call us in a day or 2 and have their mechanic fix it. That never happened. It only was fixed when we showed up in person and in front of other customers confronted them about it. And on another note they said they needed the car back for a couple days to handle something at the dmv with it. Upon returning the car there was a small cologne bottle in the glovebox that wasn't there when purchased. Hack dealership with a hack staff! read more
