San Diego ECARS - Where Promises Go to Die I bought a 2014 Audi RS7 from ECARS San Diego for over $40 000. It was late, I was far from home, and I trusted the salesman, Peter, who assured me, "You can bring the car back -- but only if it's something crazy." That promise gave me the confidence to move forward. Within hours of driving home to Los Angeles, the check-engine light came on -- clearly cleared before sale. Soon after, problems piled up: clunking suspension, unstable ride, low headlights, squealing brakes, steering vibration, and windshield washers that didn't spray at all. A radiator hose later exploded while I was driving, leaving me stranded (photos attached). Even worse, every driver-assist feature that relies on the front camera -- adaptive cruise, collision prevention, etc. -- was dead from day one. Those issues alone were bad enough, but the engine quickly became the biggest concern. The oil level showed "min" the night I got home, and after repeated top-offs and a full inspection, my mechanic confirmed the engine was burning roughly a quart every 150-200 miles -- a clear sign of internal failure. When I reported this, Peter pushed me toward the third-party warranty I'd purchased, ignoring ECARS's own 30-day powertrain warranty that covers engine damage. He even asked for my mechanic's contact info and then never called. Instead, he arranged for my local Audi dealer to do what he called an "unbiased inspection." I agreed purely as a courtesy, since the problems were already well documented. At Audi of Beverly Hills, the advisor smelled burning oil and told Peter the car needed major internal testing. Peter declined. I told him the car was unsafe and he agreed to take it back. ECARS even arranged transport to retrieve it from Los Angeles. Once the car reached their lot, everything changed. Instead of honoring the refund, ECARS sent it to their local Audi dealership hundreds of miles away for a cheaper, less-comprehensive oil-consumption test -- one requiring the car to be driven about 700 miles under their control, worsening its condition and giving them total influence over the results. While it was at Audi San Diego, the service center created a $20 000 repair estimate -- half the price of the car. ECARS never told me. I later obtained it directly from the dealership's GM after proving I was the owner. That hidden document showed they knew the vehicle's true condition. Even more alarming, the $20 000 estimate didn't include any engine work, meaning the real cost could climb far higher. During that same visit, technicians found the engine computer had been tuned and needed to be detuned before testing. I was never told the car was modified. The record proved the tune would void the $5 000 third-party warranty ECARS sold me. Peter later admitted by text that they had detuned the car before sale to pass California smog -- an act of emissions tampering and concealment. In trying to spin the oil-burning issue, they exposed their own deception. After the detune, ECARS ran their short test, claimed the car "passed," and canceled the refund agreement. Then they treated the whole ordeal as an inconvenience, threatening a lien sale if I didn't retrieve the car immediately. They even backed out of their offer to ship it back, forcing me to pay for towing from San Diego. The Bureau of Automotive Repair later confirmed ECARS refused to cooperate with their investigation -- the same stonewalling pattern I experienced. The DMV's ongoing review will likely dig deeper into ECARS's sales and emissions practices. For anyone considering buying from ECARS San Diego, please take this as a serious warning. Their online ratings and "customer" photos look great, but many of those images are pulled straight from their own website. ECARS didn't just sell me a bad car -- they sold me false confidence. My experience was costly, frustrating, and deeply dishonest. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I had a great experience working with Peter at ECars. I strongly recommend working with him. I spent a lot of time shopping and researching. When I found this car and ended up speaking with Peter over the phone, I knew that this was the car and he was the person that I wanted to deal with. I even went to another dealership down the block and could've easily pulled the trigger there on the exact some car, but it was the way that Peter communicated, I could tell that he was honest and transparent, so I came back to him to get the deal done. When going through the terms of deal, out of the gate he provided me with an excellent deal, car trade in was easy, and we got the paper work completed quickly. The whole process was simple, almost fun, and I am in love with my new car. I have already recommended ECar to friends and family and we'll be going back in a few months for my wife's next car. Highly recommended! Thanks Peter!

Peter at ECARS went above and beyond to take care of me. My credit was not the best however, he put in the extra effort to get me approved and got me into my new Mercedes on the same day. I will definitely be a return customer!

We had a seamless and wonderful experience with Peter at ECars. He was very nice, communicative and helpful! We drove from out of state to purchase a vehicle and he made the process smooth. The vehicle was exactly as pictured on their website and reasonably priced. We will be recommending anyone we know in the market for a vehicle to give Peter a call!

Worldwide Motors is the ultimate used car scam. I've purchased used cars from private and used car…read moredealers and this was hands down the worst experience. A man introduced himself as AJ and he lied about the Nissan Rogue I wanted to purchase. He told me Worldwide Motors had inspected the SUV and it had no damage. He said all Worldwide Motors did was inspect it and clean it. He also handed me a Carfax that indicated 0 accidents. (Later on, I looked up a legitimate Carfax myself and it showed 1 accident w/ bumper damage)! They must have photoshopped it?! Worldwide Motors printed a FAKE Carfax print out. Thinking this SUV had no accidents, I asked if he 'fixed anything on this used car?' he said 'no'. Unfortunately I believed what AJ told me and agreed to purchase the SUV for a 'good deal' or so I thought. I then noticed the back side fender panel was misaligned. Asking him about it, he told me I was knit picking. AJ put me down for being discerning. He said that he didn't see anything wrong (as he manually tried to pop the fender back in place). Later when I was negotiating down on price due to fender being popped out, he said 'it's nothing, we repaired and painted that area as there was a small scratch from the parking lot'. AJ couldn't remember all the lies that were flying out of his mouth. He initially told me they only inspected and cleaned the SUV. I needed a car and it was a good 'deal' so I didn't follow my gut and I agreed to purchase the SUV. I paid AJ cash and he put the cash in a safe in the other room. I had signed all the paperwork and was looking at the price - I noticed AJ stated on the paperwork the car was only $9k. When I addressed it and said 'that's not legal and I want my money back', he only offered to give me $9k back! He wouldn't return the full amount of cash I had just handed him, forcing me to buy the car. To make matters worse, I had to leave the car there bc I had negotiated he fix the fender issue as part of the sale. He said he would fix the issue so I waited 2 days to drive it off the lot. When I did, he had switch out the wipers for rusty used wipers and the back mats were from a different vehicle and very worn from the new wipers and mats he had sold me. I didn't notice these things until I was home & wasn't about to go back to the dealership. I was exhausted from filtering though the lies! I've never left a one star on Yelp, but IF I CAN HELP ONE PERSON from getting screwed by AJ and World Motors it's worth it. (In fact if there were a 0 star option, I would leave it).

The person who bought the car (that I wouldn't) already found me and of course is devastated. I was impressed by his knowledge of Mercedes but more so, his attitude and approach. There were no delays or handoffs or any of the other tactics we've all come to expect at a dealership. None of it. In addition, there was a small issue with the registration - nobody's fault. Sales Manager, Michael, sent a runner to me so I could sign it. Another indication of a well-run dealership. If I ever crossover to Rover, this is where I'll buy it.

Wish I had read the other reviews here before doing business with this dealership…read more My advice - do NOT buy a pre-owned vehicle from them. Because of their self-described high end service I foolishly trusted that any product they sold would be properly serviced and ready for ownership. I purchased an older Cadillac Escalade from them on April 25, 2026. The mileage was 58,000 and the SUV looked well maintained inside and out. I had an appointment on a Saturday to pick it up. As I was driving home to Fallbrook, trying to learn the control system I saw multiple messages flashing on the dash. At home I sorted out they were a tire pressure monitoring system problem and a suspension system problem. I looked everything up in the owners manual - then called my sales rep first of the week. Standard answer - " bring it by". It's an 80 mile round trip and my personal responsibilities don't allow that. I tried asking them to be specific about a plan of action but no success. I proceeded to have the local tire specialists sync up the tire monitoring system, but the suspension problem was very serious. After having it quickly put on a diagnostic system close to home it appeared the front left shock absorber was failing. It had been replaced by Land Rover SD weeks earlier. I pointed this out to them - explained I couldn't be "stopping by" with the mileage involved to do that, could we work something out etc? Maybe at least help defray the cost of proper replacement (they had used after market parts that failed) etc. I was polite, courteous, but my phone calls weren't returned and my detailed email went unanswered. I had the proper replacement with the needed GM parts done near home at a GM dealership. It cost just over $2,000. Who knows what kind of work Land Rover would have done even if I had a way to be making that trip since they totally botched it the first time. Again, my advice, do not trust Land Rover SD to treat you fairly in a pre-owned vehicle purchase. They were perfectly happy sending me home in a vehicle they had serviced that was left with problems that the service dept clearly had to know about since they created them.
