I received an excessive amount of calls, and after repeated requests to stop calling I was told the following "I am going to call you nonstop. I am going to put your number on all of the websites and they're going to call you nonstop. You're going to have to change your number. Fuck you" Then they called me two more times immediately. When I started recording my calls and telling them I was recording suddenly "they couldn't hear me" even though they acknowledged when I said hello, and stopped calling. ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE This place is awful. It was so bad I had to call the police and get them involved. They would not return calls or emails and my house goods were over 3 months late. You have to sit on hold over an hour to even talk to anyone and then they will not tell you anything and will be rude. I finally filed a police report for stolen goods. That may have gotten a response. My good arrived over 3 months late. My brand new fridge arrived with 5 significant dents and scratches. I sent over 15 emails and left over 15 messages. I was literally only able to talk to someone live 4 times. During my interactions, I was told they know nothing and could not help and even outright lied too. I could write for hours about how bad they are. I am convinced they have people writing fake reviews in droves on Yelp and other sites. I have received 3 emails from other customers with the exact same experience as me. There is no way they have a positive ranking. NO WAY! They do not respond to the BBB and have a long list of complaints with the BBB. They also operate under many different names and keep moving locations and changing their name. This company does not deserve any stars. Adam, the salesman, was really great and quoted me $2500 for our move... he was impossible to reach after we signed a contract. Should have been a red flag there. The same goes for the other 3 people I've spoken with at Public Moving an Storage (their coordinator,their dispatcher and a customer service rep). They will work with you to get you to choose their company for your move. They will work with you until they get the first check from you, then you are pretty much on your own from there. Our move was quoted for $2500, and then $4000! We were told our things would arrive in 3 days. Three days came and went and when we tried to call to figure out where our things were, NO ONE WOULD ANSWER. I have not yet found anyone to tell me when my things are to be delivered. They screened my phone calls. I had my boyfriend call them from his number and they answered right away. They then told us our move went up another $1000. They claim it was because we had more items than planned, which is fine, but they then went onto say that it went up more because the movers did the math wrong.... not sure how that is my fault when I signed a contract for $4000. I would have lovvveeeeddd to track my move on their website...HAD THEY GIVEN ME a TRACKING NUMBER. For a company whose main page says "Your 100% satisfaction is Our success" they sure are the WORST. There should really be an option for no stars and a business warning for this company. A) They are not affiliated with the nationally known (and loved) Public Storage company. B) The people loading your items were found on Craigslist by a contracted Russian driver. These people may or may not be drug free or have criminal records. They are certainly not bonded or cleared to handle personal items much less be in your home! C) Your items may go on a 26 foot 'shuttle' but will end up being sent to a depot/warehouse until they have enough items to load an 18-wheeler. D) After they have taken all of your belongings and carelessly packed it with those of other poor souls they will call with a delivery date. At this time they will tell you if they can't drive the tractor trailer straight to your door, delivery will cost an additional $800. E) The driver will show up with no crew and be upset because the boxes are not labeled or sorted. He will grow increasingly angry and agitated because you are angry and agitated. He will threaten to lock your items in storage and charge you until the moving company sorts out the mess. Words that come to mind: con artist, extortion, ransom, and illegal. We never heard back from our dedicated representative who made multiple assurances to assist if anything went wrong. Working with Emma and Angela who handle dispatching and customer complaints were horrid- and all they kept wanting was more money with a canned response of 'it's in the contract'. Anyone contemplating using this company should reach out to me directly for more details. In all honesty any lay person could post a comment Craigslist Ad in the originating city, rent their own truck for a fraction of the cost, and then post another one in the destination city. I had to move so I had to agree on the spot. They also pushed my pick up back a day even though we had reserved the pick up date a month ahead of time. If 0 starts were an option, that is what we would have chosen. We allowed this company to pickup our stuff a week before we moved and still waited 2 weeks after the "expected delivery date" to get our stuff. They only have one person who seems to be able to tell us where the movers are and the "dispatch" was not in the office 2 of the 3 times we called. We've already paid way more than we were quoted in extras, and now that they can't get a semi truck to our new apartment they wanted us to pay another $350 to get a moving truck. SO We are meeting the semi, having them unload our stuff onto a moving truck we are renting, and then having to haul our stuff the rest of the way to our apartment (for about a tenth of the cost!). HUGE HASSLE! They say they will call back and never do. They never call with updates. Our delivery date came and went and they made no effort to contact us and say they'd be late. When we called to find out why our delivery was 2 weeks late (after being without our stuff for a total of 3 weeks), I was told I should have read the contract (they have UP TO 30 DAYS TO DELIVER YOUR STUFF) instead of relying on the date our sales person gave us. That is only their "best guess" on when our stuff should arrive. I was also told I should be understanding because other people, families, wanted their stuff too and it's not just our stuff on the truck. If you have more than 5 stairs (we have 7), they will charge you for the extra stairs. If they have to go more than 75 feet, you will be charged. They retape everything and charge per roll of tape used, which we had no issue with because the actual movers were very nice and did really great work. I would absolutely never recommend this company. They are all talk when it comes to customer service (the actual movers were great to work with). This was an incredibly traumatic experience for my wife and I. For the first time in our lives we were hiring a moving company to make our lives less stressful. Not only were they doing the shipping, but all the packing too! The cost was TWICE the estimate- the movers were late, and everything didn't even fit on the truck! I ended up selling personal possessions due to their lack of professionalism. They ended up damaging our property, and I had to stop them from just throwing things on the truck with no wrapping or protection. Then, to make matters worse, I called customer support who basically said- too bad. Read the fine print. If you want your stuff- you have to pay the full amount. Talked to 3 different customer service representatives with no assistance. When I finally was able to get a supervisor, she said that she would help me, but that the owner wouldn't let her do anything until the delivery was scheduled. Once it was scheduled she would help me reduce the cost- all I had to do was call. Once it was scheduled, I called every day for 3 weeks. She wouldn't call me back- and another customer service rep that I explained this all to, called me a liar. I have names, dates & documentation. I am generally happy or at least satisfied with most service I receive, so I don't write a lot of reviews. But I need to warn others about this company. Public Moving and Storage is the worst company I have ever used to move my items. Adam whom I received my quote from was very dishonest from the beginning. A very smooth talker but after my experience full of lies. The packers did a horrible job of packing and damaged many of my items. When the truck arrived 30 days later I am missing a box full of kitchen items as well as my brand new beach towels and bathroom beach towels. My 6 year olds brand new bike was torn on the seat and her chain will not stay on now. It took the moving guys 45 minutes to get my items to come loose off the truck as they packed them to the roof smashing the items below. I had water in my electronics as well. I wish you had negative stars! This place is an absolute disaster! Don't even think about using them! We haven't been able to reach anyone other than the sales department for an entire week. No one will talk to us about when our furniture will be delivered. This was after they overcharged us on the load. Of course, the sales department is in no way connected to dispatch or customer service, so they can't even connect you to those departments. Apparently, all they do is sell you services with an estimate of whatever you need it to be with no intentions of keeping their word. Of course, they charged us an additional $1,500 over the estimate they gave. We won't even get into the rudeness of the workers who loaded the furniture. It is now December and we still have not gotten any resolution on our 7 missing boxes or our 2 pieces of broken furniture. They do not answer phone calls and do not return messages. One of my dear friends worst experiences...they stole all of her belongings after demanding more cash & threatening her!!! Here is her story It needs to be repeated so they don't do the same to another innocent victim. I had my belongings picked up in upstate New York on December 29, 2016 to be delivered in Virginia. They insisted on arriving at midnight December 28, 2016. I refused their entry at that time. While at my home on December 29, 2016, after the last item was loaded, the three Russians were present and refused to allow me to exit. The one who spoke the best English began to yell and demand more cash from my bank. I refused. ( I had already given them a $468.00 deposit and $700.00 cash on arrival ). He continued to yell and threaten that he would throw all of my belongings from the truck out and onto the snow unless I gave him more cash and sign false documents. He then presented me with false bills of lading. I tore up what he insisted I sign. With every tear up, the main Russian got angrier and began to shout more. It was threatening and menacing. I asked him to connect me with his superior. The main Russian kept repeating : "They do not want to talk to you. They only talk to me because I am the boss now." It is April 24, 2017 and I have none of my household goods. I have received calls to wire thousands of dollars into a Chase Bank in Aventura, Florida. I have written them a demand letter to identify the whereabouts of my items. They refuse to allow me to send my own crew for my goods. Interesting "company"....I guess they think they are smarter than my law degree......Hum.... Avoid "hiring" this entity. You will have a bed to sleep on. After carefully considering several moving companies, we chose this one because of the friendly service during our inventory/interview process. The night before we were to start loading, the box count added $1,000 to our $4,700 move. The inventory didn't change - AT ALL. Then, when they arrived at 2:00 pm the following day (were supposed to be there between 8:00 - 9:00 am) the on-site guy gets on the phone with the office, who called and said we had 2600 cu ft instead of 2100 cu ft. Again - the inventory didn't change - AT ALL. We were promised an 18-wheeler with a lift because of my husband's lawn tractor which couldn't be driven up the ramp. They arrived in ONE 26' truck. They had to go rent another truck (which we had reiterated at least 5 times we needed a semi or two 26' trucks). Because there was NO lift, the lawn tractor had to be left in Georgia and we now have to replace it, which is another $4-5K. I'm still so LIVID!! So, only at the point where we had reserved two U-Hauls and had friends lined up on each end of the move to unload the truck, did we settle at $8,000 for the move. What SHOULD have been $4,700 was $8,000 AND we have no lawn tractor. We moved 10 days ago and everything is basically unpacked and we have numerous items that are missing. My belongings were picked up on 12/29/16 and as of today, 6/12/17 I have no delivery. Through research I discovered that my belongings are sitting in Hamden, CT. The "company" refuses to tell me the exact address until I wire them money- $1200.00. They refused to put this in writing. I am prepared to fly to CT to retrieve what is MINE. They make a game out of the consumer being held hostage- some warped power play. From my experience and observations, the co. employees conspire to defraud the public. Every employee who knows of the deceptive and oppressive tactics should be penalized for deliberately and maliciously harming the public. My belongings were to be picked up in NY and driven to VA. My delivery was scheduled for January 5th. No show by them. My delivery was rescheduled for January 18th. No Show. Scheduled for January 19th. No show. I tracked down a driver via the YELP members and the driver said my belongings were taken to a space in Hamden, CT!!!! So.....my question is: When a family has no furniture, no crib, no high chair for a child, no beds, no pots and pans what does PUBLIC MOVING AND STORAGE expect them to do??? Camp outside? This is utterly ridiculous. I have never seen such blatant and bold actions of concealment and hostility. The consumer hires the mover, not vice a versa. The website is FALSE & I would lay a bet the reviews are also fabricated. Lie #1: I asked if they were affiliated w/ Public Storage. They lied. Lie #2: There is no pretty office. In fact, I verified that their current company address is the United States P.O in Thornton. You will see beautiful trucks w/ the co. logo. I got a beat up Budget rent a truck. Lie #3: I emphatically informed B.W who answered the phone line that I would be flying to NY to meet the movers and that I wanted his assurance that the movers would show up. Without assurances I would be compelled to hire a different mover. He repeatedly stated that I had nothing to worry about and lied and lied about the company integrity v. other movers. He stated that he would be with me "every step of the way." Upon confirming the pick up date, I could not locate him so I texted him, only to get a response: I AM OUT OF THE OFFICE FOR 30 DAYS. Lies 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: I flew to NY and started calling the company only to be told that the movers would arrive btw 11-1. The movers never came so I called dispatch ("E") and was told that they would be there around 5. I called again and asked "E" where the truck was and she told me a certain town in NY that she said was an hour away. I googled the town and it was 3.5 hours away from my location. I called "E" again and was given the number to the driver. Many calls back and forth later, he told me he would be at my location at midnight. Due to noise covenants, I told him that would be impossible. He assured me he would arrive at 7am the next day. He and two other workers arrived at 9:30am. Two were smoking and my apartment and garage began to smell like cigarettes so I began to wonder if they would be smoking on the truck. Throughout their presence, I battled with the main driver. I demanded that he connect me to his supervisor but he refused to connect me. I think the company sees from Caller ID who is calling and simply refuse to pick up. The driver muttered that he was tired of the company promising the consumers things that could not happen. As the packers were proceeding, I noticed wet cloths being used on my brand new furniture. Then the main driver told me that they used 15 rings or 45.00 worth of tape. I said: "Show me the empty tape rings." I saw 2 not 15. Lie #9 & coercive practices: The main driver told me that if I did not sign agreeing to pay double my price that he would not load my mattresses. He went on to plead with me because the company would take the monies out of his paycheck. I told him I did not believe him. I told him that B.W reviewed the pictures of my boxes for a solid quote and that eleven boxes in the photos were taken to USPS and shipped to my daughter, I was not taking a glass coffee table and gave one driver 2 of the stools depicted in the quote photo and gave a girlfriend several items including two chairs and that the load was less than depicted.. He pulled out the previous family move and said: "Look, this family paid above their estimate." Little did he know, "E" informed me that that previous family told the company that they would be selling half their furniture but when the movers arrived they informed them that no one bought the furniture. Thus the need for more space in the truck. The main driver overtly and with utter disregard for the truth led me to believe otherwise. As the clock was ticking for the new tenant to move in, I missed my flight, had to renew my rental car, had to hurry out of the apartment without taking all of the items and my security deposit was dinged for such. By the time they arrive it will be getting dark. He asked me to move things closer to the door so that he could load them faster! And this is suppose to be a big moving company. DO NOT USE!! My estimate was $3,500, I ended up paying over $7,000. When I got frustrated, my moving "advisor" Alex quit answering my calls or returning my emails. Told me that my stuff would be picked up and then arrive approx 4 days later. I asked why so quickly, he said the same guy that picked up my stuff would drive the truck to my apt. That was a lie. Took almost 2 weeks to get my stuff. Was not the same driver and he just hired a couple of random guys to help him unload. They were going to try and also charge me an additional $1,600 to move my stuff from a semi truck to a smaller truck. But I told them they would just have to find a way to get the semi in my driveway. Even without paying that extra $1,600, I paid double what I was quoted and I was very detailed with my inventory of items being shipped. I got a call from another moving company and I told them I already had a mover. I told them who and they kept trying to talk me out of it. I just thought they were trying to hustle me to get my business. I wish I could remember what company that was so I could call and apologize. I would never, ever use this company again, even if their services were completely free of charge. If they have a single shred of integrity or competence, I certainly didn't see it throughout my experience. The "sales coordinator," Kyle, told me he'd be my contact through the whole process, but from what I can tell, his real job appears to be giving you a wildly inaccurate estimate, getting your signature and deposit, and then disappearing off the face of the earth. Many pieces of information he gave me in the initial call were flat-out false, which means he's either entirely ignorant of his own company's practices, or he knows what they are and lies to potential customers to tell them what they want to hear and get their business. I can't think of any other reason why there'd be so many discrepancies between what he outlined and what actually happened. The other people I dealt with at this company were poor communicators and habitually unresponsive (unless they were calling me 2-3 times per day to harass me for more money). My final bill was TWICE their estimate - I cannot comprehend how a professional moving company could be so hugely inaccurate. The moving teams I dealt with at both pick-up and drop-off were rude and destructive - they put a hole in my basement wall that they didn't bother to tell me about, and I heard from my storage company that they ran over some sprinklers and caused more damage on their way out. Public Moving and Storage 103 E Eleanor Street Unit 165 Thornton IL 60476 US DOT: 2955650 MC: 001695 This is our story, and it seems as though it is a lot of others also. My wife contacted a number of moving companies to move us from Texas to Iowa, about 800 miles. This was supposed to be for a full pack. Public Moving and Storage was the lowest bid. My wife talked to the salesman for about 2 weeks to make sure that everything was included, and Adam assured her that there would be no extra charges. He even said that he was a family man, and he knew how it was to be struggling with money. So we get the estimate, for $3250, for the full move. We assumed it was for what they talked about on the phone, a full pack, it stated 978 cubic feet or 6848 pounds. They also said that it was over estimated. Well when it came to the day to move, the driver added $1100 for packing and packing material, $904 for a fuel surcharge and $1000 for the extra cubic feet. In order to get our stuff back we would have had to pay $2000, and our stuff would not have left the house. We would have been out of $3000, with nothing to show for it. What happened was that Adam conveniently left off all of the packing, and forget about the weight, they only go by the cubic feet, even when the 26 ft truck that they bring is not all the way full and our household goods does not weigh 6848 pounds. We even had to leave some stuff in the house because it was already over the limit. So tell me what exactly the estimate covered? It does not cost $3250 to drive all the way to Iowa, 800 miles. It does not cost $3250 to load a 26 foot truck, especially when it was not full. Why was there an extra charge when the truck was not full and our weight limit was not reached? Basically the estimate does not cover anything. They add on regardless of what was promised on the phone because everything that was talked about was left off of the contract. Movers from Your Moving Company did good job. The young men were respectful and helpful. They packed stored and unpacked my items and asked me where to place things. The cost was OK and they were easy to contact and arrange a scheduling time. I did have an item damaged and they took it for repair. There was an obvious mice presence in some of the boxes but that happened at the storage facility. The young men that moved me were on time and worked quickly as to not waist my money. My experience with Public Moving and Storage was a total nightmare from beginning to end, full of unceasing lies and misrepresentations. We hired the company to move my mom from Illinois to Florida. Smooth-speaking salesman Daniel assured me that shipments from Illinois to Florida always arrive within a week. As soon as the deposit was made Daniel never returned phone calls or emails, despite numerous attempts to solicit his help when problems arose. The first problem was that the driver was four days late in picking up the furniture. The company never called to tell us what was happening. We had to continue to call every day and beg the company to send the driver. After the pickup we called the company and asked for a delivery date for Florida so I could schedule a trip from my home in PA to help my elderly mom. They assured us that the furniture would be delivered on the Thursday or Friday of the following week. I booked my flight to arrive on Sunday, thinking that the furniture would be there before I arrived (my brother would be there to meet the truck). We received no call on Friday so we called the dispatcher and she assured us the furniture would be delivered Sunday or Monday. We received no call on Monday and so called again. The dispatcher assured us it would be Wednesday or Thursday. It was during this conversation that the dispatcher, Emma, finally admitted that the truck driver was in Georgia waiting to deliver part of the load, taking cash payments in order to delay delivery until that customer was ready to receive the delivery. We called Wednesday to get the delivery time for Thursday and was told he had made another pickup along the way and would have to make a subsequent delivery before he delivered my mom's furniture. We were assured that he would come Friday or Saturday. We had no confidence that what the company said would be honored so I went ahead and cancelled my flight home and booked another ticket, costing my about $200. We called again on Friday and finally were given the driver's phone number. We called Pedro and he told us he would be in the area Saturday but he would not deliver until Sunday as he had not arranged for a helper. We begged him to come Saturday and he agreed only if we would provide help unloading. My 61-year old brother and his wife and I unloaded the truck. Pedro handed things down to us. He only helped carry the couch. The whole time he bragged to us that he got into trucking for "the big bucks". He was a pathetic individual, having no interest in serving his customer. Public Moving Services aka Your Moving Company, Public Moving & Storage - they are all the same though they will lie and say they are not. DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE MOVERS - THEY WILL WITH OUT A DOUBT RIP YOU OFF. Just check out the BBB website of any of the moving review websites. If you have already given them a deposit, STOP!! Either walk away and try to stop payment or try to get it back. Do not under any circumstances let any of the above touch your belongings, they will either hold it for ransom, steal or destroy it. Please avoid this company at all costs! I spent 45 minutes on the Phone with Richard who was polite and gave the appearance of a genuine person. We went through all of the items in my home one at a time, room by room, in order to produce the most accurate quote possible and i was quoted $2,700 for 700 cubic feet. I called back about a week later because the number of boxes had increased. This time i was on the phone with Richards supervisor, I believe his name was Jeff or Danny. Again, we went through all my items one by one, room by room. We also increased the amount of boxes to 55 despite only actually having 30, just to ensure that the cost we are quoted this time is the absolute high end of what it could be. This bumped the total to $3,400 for 853 cubic feet. I was informed that this would be the absolute ceiling for cost, and that in all likelihood it would come down since we didn't have as many boxes as we quoted. I asked if there was any items that i should get ahead of time so that the movers didn't spring any surprises on me. Richard and his boss Jeff stated that i could go to Uhaul and purchase quality moving wrap or tape, this way the movers would use it and it would save me some money. Moving day- 3 guys show up in street cloths in a enterprise rental truck. They came in to see my belongings and the first thing he says is, "i cant use your tape". Why cant you use my tape? He proceeded to come up with some complete nonsensical babble about how we have to use their tape. Richard, Jeff, and Danny are all liars. Completely deceitful, misleading, trashy sales tactic, and an absolute spineless move. The tape they forced me to purchase was $160. We walked through my home and i was very excited to tell the man that many of the items we quoted to be in the move were no longer coming with us. We sold off a large chair and ottoman, two bar chairs, an tv stand, and a large floor lamp. We also had fewer boxes than what was quoted. Somehow, someway, the mover states that my cubic ft has not only not gone down, but actually increased 397 cubic feet! 397 cubic feet x $4 per cubic foot= $1,588. Any elementary school child can look at this and know something isn't right. What compounds the issue is that the mover stated this before he even began moving our items. I understand that movers who have been in the business for very long can probably eyeball it, but it doesn't look good to the customer when you state the size before even touching a box. He attempted to force me to sign off on the "overload" before they even began. I said that i preferred if he loaded it and then measured again before me signing off on anything. He & his men loaded it all up and what-do-ya-know, our load was exactly 397 cubic feet over! If this guy can eyeball out invisible amounts of volume with an error rate of less than one foot then he needs to be doing something else other than moving boxes, cause that is some savant, rainman-esque shit. I proceeded to call Public Moving & Storage to discuss the nonsense which was occurring. NO one answered any of my calls or called me back. My move was on a Saturday so i figured maybe some of the employees were off but surely dispatch was working. No, nothing. Not their "award winning" customer service, not Emma Ritche who is supposedly dispatch, not moving coordinators, not even the operator. Not a single person answered, or returned my call. I left voicemail's & emails to every person possible asking to be contacted but no one would reach out. An absolute miss on their part and a clear indicator that they have no intention to satisfy the customer. I had to continue calling back during Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday until someone finally answered. I kept being told that Angela would call me back. This occurred several times before she finally called me back. I calmly explained the situation to her and she was as stubborn and distasteful as a human can be. Not once did she say sorry, not once did she say "let me look into this", not once did she show empathy towards me. My belongings hadn't arrived yet and she said that she would take a look and said, "I cant give you a thousand back, but i'll see what I can do". She then said " I'll call you back soon". Typically when you say "soon" you are indicating that you will call back in a few hours, worst case by end of business day. I received no call back. I called the following two days with zero success of getting in touch with Angela. Clearly this was done intentionally in order to avoid giving me any sort of refund, thus forcing me to pay full price when my items were to arrive Saturday morning. She could have given me $100 back and it would have sent a clear message that at least she was trying to reconcile the mistake. Instead, Angela chose to avoid contact at all costs. My price was WAAAAAAYYYYYYYY over my initial "estimate"!! They failed to mention to me on the phone about additional fees for tape etc. They NEVER ONCE explained to me that everything they put on the truck would need to be wrapped up and taped up, and that I would have to pay for all the materials that they were OVER USING. They also failed to mention to me that there would be an up charge for the amount of steps there are if I don't live on the first floor. So make sure you have extra cash!! The people on the phone are impatient and talk to you like your stupid. The male customer service rep i spoke to was very rude and sharp with his tone of how he was speaking to me. Completely unprofessional. The movers themselves were excellent! They came in and packed everything and secured it all on the truck and got it to is destination, which they had better, because the move costs over $3,000.00. read more

If i could give zero stars then I would. We were lied to about insurance and how we could pay. We already paid the 1115 before they sent their contract. They also, like others, didn't inform us of the packing material cost. We were relocating to another state and we had to find a home. This ridiculous company decided to deliver to us two weeks later, still without an address. We were told to call when we found a place and then they would start the delivery procedure. But no, some bright spark sent our furniture and belongs to nowhere. We hadn't found a place so we had to get our stuff delivered to my husbands grandmother's basement. I would never use this company ever again. I would rather physically carry our stuff then employ them. Also a woman is customer service is the rudest and most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. I will be reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission. I recently moved across the country. Please do not use this company. They are full of untruths. I happened upon the company while dealing with my car move. Of course the sales person undersold the estimate I received from Wheaton without even seeing how much stuff I had. Of course I was sucked in to the promise of only their own trucks and moving teams. They gave me a window of 2 days for my things to move and came at 8 pm on the second day of the window and moved my possessions until 12:30 am! The movers were on a tight schedule and transferred my things 2 states away north early that morning. I can say they did wrap my furniture well and were very careful with wrapping up my piano and moving it gingerly out of the house. For 6 days my stuff sat in a warehouse. When it finally arrived across the country the moving workers apparently were found off of the internet. One guy had never moved and frankly the other guy was worse. It had been raining and they placed boxes on the wet street, wanted to use a hand truck across the carpet, and set my off white linen couch on the wet landing! They were given no input from the driver who stayed on the truck. Our treasured piano was crammed in sideways and had 2 legs broken off...My pristine temperpedic box spring was partially unwrapped and had tears, the corners worn off and black filth on one side. Nothing like paying extra for the piano move and the mattress and box spring to be wrapped. Now I await the salesperson making good on this. I called him as they were off loading the piano. The piano needs to be repaired and the boxspring needs to be replaced. I'm not even going to discuss the dented night stand or dirty couch. The piano and an armoire are in the garage as I didn't trust the movers to get up to the second floor. The customer service person didn't even return my call! Both teams moving me from and into the house were made of subcontractors. Public Moving and Storage was not labelled on either truck. Repeat, don't make a big mistake like I did. I would never recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy. First the quote they gave was great then after they came to pick up it doubled. After they picked up they then delayed the delivery from 7 days to 14 days. After it was delayed they only did a partial delivery of our belongings. The other delivery was a week later. The excuse, "Well, you had more than we originally accounted for so we didn't have enough space to deliver all of your stuff". On the second delivery we noticed a bunch of damage to our furniture and we were still missing 8 boxes. Yes 8!!! I called over and over again, filled dispute with the BBB and the DOT and it has officially been over two months and still nothing. They don't know where my boxes went and I haven't heard back from the claims department regarding the damages. It has been an absolute nightmare. I really want to give them NO stars. I signed a contract with them because of the great quote they gave me. After contacting 2 other agencies I realized the quote was WAAYYYYY under what the final cost would be. I tried to cancel with Public and the salespeople were aggressive, rude, impatient, and simply talked over me and wouldnt allow me to speak. Beware! They have a 3 week cancellation window - other companies I explored had 7 day cancellation windows. I ended up losing my deposit of over $1,000. But it was still cheaper not to use them. Last month my boyfriend had to move out of his sister's house. He knew the move date months before, but when the moving day came, he was not in the least bit ready. Although he had some things in boxes, the majority of his stuff was unpacked. I was freaking out and I didn't know what to expect. Vladimer and his crew arrived at 9am sharp. I was a mess when I showed him everything that had to be moved. The first thing he did was calm me down. He told me not to worry becasue they were there to help, not judge. He also assured me that they had more than enough packing materials to get the job done the right way. Vladimir and his crew not only helped us pack up Patrick's belongings (something that Patrick should have already done), but they also got everything in the truck stratigically and efficiently. Also, even with all the work they had to do, the move was completed well before 5pm and it did not cost me an arm and a leg. Everything was packed so professionally and I would not hesitate to use them for my own move. The pricing was a lot less than I thought it would be for all the extra work they had to do. The delivery was received quickly and the crew was just as good as my pickup guys. Put everything in the correct room and reassembled everything. I could go on and on about how great of an experience I had with Public Moving and Storage. This company will quote you a low rate and then change your pricing when the quality assurance rep calls followed by and additional increase when the driver shows up. Stay away from this company. They are a bunch of shysters! I booked a move that was to take place today, 10/27/16 back on 9/27/16. Tyler, the salesman, indicated that if circumstances arose and I needed to cancel, the deposit of $1334.50 was fully refundable. Well, I had to cancel on 10/5/16 - 22 days before the scheduled move. I have been asking about my refund ever since. TODAY - I was informed I was not entitled to any refund as the cancellation had to take place 21 BUSINESS DAYS before the scheduled move. Worst move ever!!! Cost was half again as much as my original estimate - even though I gave measurements to my salesperson and left significant items behind - like my sofa and other large items. It took nearly 3 months to deliver. Constant lies from Emma as to the whereabouts of my belongings. Turns out it was delivered to the wrong state and put back in storage. The only reason I know this is because the recipient put a note in one of my boxes. 90% of my furniture is damaged. All my furniture left my home wrapped in protective blankets but according to the driver once it goes into storage (which I had no idea was going to happen) the wrapping comes off and is never put back on. And best of all ,I only had ONE man deliver along with his young daughter. In a nutshell, my things were picked up in upstate NY, put in storage in CT, delivered to WA and put back in storage and then delivered to WI. And who knows where else!!!
