Over-the-top excellent! We have moved many times. The last time we moved, we used a budget, no-name mover. They got PAINT on our $5,000 oriental rug. We did not move paint, so it must have been spilt in their truck from a prior move. My husband and I decided not to take any chances this time. Prager Moving and Storage has been in Naperville for decades. Our neighbor, who is a perfectionist, to put it mildly, used Prager and raved about them. Our real estate agent, Chris Cobb, recommended Prager. The actual cost of the move came in below their estimate. The driver, Bob Bychowski, was outstanding. He and his crew were extremely prompt on both ends. His truck was huge and immaculate. His crew was great. Each and every one of them introduced themselves to us by name and shook our hands and then got to work without delay. We haven't unpacked everything yet, but all the furniture arrived without a scratch. This was the easiest move we have ever experienced. We are a "his, mine and ours" family, so we have both moved many times over the decades. We both agree that this was by far the best moving experience ever. They may not be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. read more

I wanted to review this business to help others. I can say hands down this has been the best moving experience I've ever had! I've moved my kids multiple times with shady movers (I have stories!) and this was a walk in the park. First of all , my quote was done over the phone through FaceTime. Steve knew exactly what he was doing and asked all the pertinent questions. His quote was fair and extremely accurate. Before the scheduled move we were able to move quite a few small boxes and items ourselves as we had access to the new home. Steve was happy to adjust the quote (through FaceTime again) and it was astonishingly accurate. The crew was fantastic! Adan was the crew leader and all the men were very proficient in packing, moving and communicating with us throughout the day. They were all friendly and very accommodating to how we wanted things placed in the new home. Also, Brenda in the office was quite helpful with scheduling the move, explaining the billing, and answering any questions we had. Cannot say enough good things about this company. As I said, we've been burned by other companies so I was relieved to have such a pleasant experience with Prager. read more

Holly at Prager Moving was excellent at coordinating our corporate move. She worked with TRC (the corporate relocation company). The movers showed up on moving day on time and did an efficient job. They were friendly. They were careful! When I eventually unpacked everything, I was amazed that nothing was broken or lost. (our stuff went to storage for 8 months while we were in furnished housing). I would recommend this company. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there was one temp worker helping to pack who seemed kind of "slow" and talked on his phone occasionally throughout the day of packing. On the receiving end, 8 months later, the team in NJ/NY were just as efficient and professional! Way to go guys! read more

Moved from SW Chicago suburbs to SW Florida in Sept. 2021 and it was seemless ! Heard many horror stories about moving companies, but folks at Prager/Atlas were upfront, honest, reliable. They are not cheap (nobody is now) but the initial binding quote was fair and our stuff arrived in great condition/packed and unpacked by an expert crew ! The initial quote was clear and the communication from office personnel timely and professional. No gimmicks or monkey business when the shipment arrived 4 days later. I did a lot of research before choosing a moving company. Steve came to my house for an estimate, and assured me all movers were professionals and my banister railing would be covered with a blanket so as not to get dinged etc. Out of the 4 guys that showed up, only the lead was a professional. The "big guy" couldn't keep his gym shorts from falling off his a_ _, one younger kid was ok, but the other young kid would walk down my hall with a chair and bang it on the wall. Who can't walk a straight line??? They could not follow simple directions and place furniture in the rooms I asked (even though I hung signs next to them), my Christmas stuff was half in the garage and half in the basement (not even placed together). Needless to say I was not impressed at all. A week after moving in, I could see all the scuffs and actual dings into my walls that I had to go around and use my MagicEraser to get rid of. We scheduled an in-town move between two homes in Naperville. We actually changed our closing dates (both buy and sell) to accommodate the dates Steve had available. We secured move dates with Steve via email on a Friday -- "I have you on the books. I'll call you Monday but you have a spot for sure" -- and the following Wednesday Steve informs me the dates are unavailable. I can't speak to the other reviews on quality of delivery because we never made it that far. Now I'm scrambling to find another mover who can deliver with less than 3 weeks' notice. Maybe they're great, maybe they're terrible, but I will not call them again. read more

The guys who moved me out of my river north apartment were so kind- and (with my OCD-ness and paranoia about people touching my stuff) they did nothing but put my mind at ease about moving it and handled it with care all the way back to the burbs! Booking a job to have Prager take care of my move was easy and seamless. Brenda in Customer service had great communication with me the whole time about everything going on and when to expect everything at my new place. DO NOT USE PRAGER MOVING AND STORAGE, TAKE IT FROM ME! We used Prager for the 3rd time in 6 years. Previous two moves went smoothly. This time, completely different. (Delays, damages and lost items).3rd time is a "charm" I guess. BEWARE! No focus on respect, owner won't return your phone call to discuss issues, and they will damage your goods with or without extra insurance. They will pack your belongings differently than discussed, and have no regard for damaged or lost items. Look elsewhere because this company has no regard for customer satisfaction or simple respect. Those that do speak with you are disrespectful and will tell you something that is nothing close to the truth. They simply want your money. Do not use Prager Moving and Storage. We used them for a move a couple of years ago, and they were great. So, we used them again for a recent move. A $600 item went missing in the recent move. Our story is similar to the other reviewer's - Prager claimed that we misplaced the item - would not accept responsibility for the loss, and indicated that they have no policy for an item going missing during a move. They suggested we file a police report. And, they did not do anything to make it right - we even said we'd accept a few hundred dollars toward replacement of the item - and they wouldn't budge. During the ordeal, the customer service was slow, and I had to repeatedly call them with several days going by without hearing from them when they'd said they'd get back to me. read more

I received 4 estimates and prager was the only one to come in person and was the best one. They arrived on time and quickly got to work. I can't say enough how pleased I was with everything they did. Aaron and his crew were polite, fast, thorough, careful and thoughtful. They took time to ask questions and make suggestions. I had a two stop move and the 2nd was in pouring rain. They had a great attitude about it and packed my storage unit by making sure that nothing that could potentially be damaged by water was on the ground. I will be moving again in the next 12 months or less and will absolutely be using them again. And they came in under the estimate! I've heard nightmare stories where people get a bill that's so much more than than the estimate. This team was efficient! read more

I chose Prager based upon several referrals and some good reviews. What I did not realize was that I was actually hiring Atlas, whose reviews are terrible. This move was a nightmare. The packers arrived and began packing in a very chaotic manner, with things from different rooms being combined--I found a part of my office computer in a box marked "bathroom" and have another box that says "stereo and glass", despite giving the packers the actual shipping box from my stereo, which they then used to pack other items when they ran out of boxes. Yes, they ran out of boxes, and began to use random boxes I had in my attic. The driver was supposed to load a day later, but arrived early packing day and made me take him to my office for a second pick up, causing me not to be able to supervise the packing, and then the office items got intermingled with garage and living room items, contrary to the contract. While I was gone, things that were not supposed to be packed (we planned to put them in bedding boxes the next morning) vanished--I thought into boxes, but some of them were never seen again. My contract stated the home would be protected from damage, but I had to insist this be done, and still ended up running around with touch-up paint. THEN the driver from Devries moving (another Atlas subsidiary) quit his job on delivery day and spent the day on the phone while other men unloaded the truck. As I unpacked, it became clear not everything was here. I am missing 6 sets of towels (curiously, I have one towel from one set--when they were all stored on the same shelf), all my shoes (boots all arrived) that were stored in boxes--the boxes are here, not the shoes. I also am missing two lovely foreign pieces of artwork. Atlas says that since I signed for the load, they are not responsible for missing items. I may have all the boxes, but I do not have all the goods. These are unethical people --I was asked to sign a blank tablet several times, while someone said, "you are signing that A or B" and then the paperwork was e-mailed, which I did not see until I was able to set up my computer many days after the items were gone. Atlas will not even attempt to trace my items (the truck made 4 stops after leaving my home), and my belief is that they somehow never made it onto the truck. We inspected the house after, and it was empty, but I am definitely missing many things. When I spoke to the expediter on moving day and told her it was a nightmare, she kept saying "that's good", but no attempt was made to help me. The people I called the day after the boxes arrived, as things were discovered missing and broken. kept telling me "I am writing this all down" and then handing me off to the next evasive person. I filled out all their claim forms in detail, only to be put off for two weeks and then told. the claim is denied since you signed for the shipment. read more

I mistakenly thought hiring a nationwide mover is better than a mom and pop outfit. And am I wrong! I don't know where this company hire their movers from. They damaged more stuff than my last 3 moves combined. Some of my plastic boxes which have survived 3 different moves before were damaged and ruined. Mattresses dirtied and torn because they were not wrapped before leaving our apartment. Several pieces of furniture were damaged. Containers in boxes spilled because the flipped the boxes upside down. After the move, i have numerous scruff marks on my new walls and doors. When I tried to file claim with their office, they lowballed everything. For your own sake, stay away from them. read more

Steve came out to the house and quoted the move: the numbers of movers and hours, the number of boxes and the size of the truck. When I called other movers, they were less specific. I felt comfortable with Steve because of his integrity and honesty. The movers came on time and proceeded with a professional move. They were incredibly friendly and made this stressful situation humorous and easier then I could have imagined. The quote Steve provided was almost dead on accurate, no real surprises in the end. Both homes had absolutely no damage during the process and the furniture was in perfect condition. Highly recommended and when needed, I would use them again without getting quotes from anyone else. Prager sent out a sales rep to estimate the cost of the move. He was approximate 20% under the actual weight after telling me for a while about how accurate he would actually be given all his experience in measuring. I was pretty confident that he was underestimating based on the other companies that I had come out and the estimate of a trusted friend who works in the industry. After briefly talking to me about the discrepancy, he said he would call me back and never did. The day of the move out of our condo went great! The move team was awesome and they handled our items with care. They did a great job managing the stairs and hot day efficiently. The team who moved us into our house (our items were in storage for a while) was just ok. The team leader spent the first part of the day sitting on top of my dresser, smoking next to my mattress. They had already taken part of the box off the mattress. The rest of the day went well and the team was helpful. read more

Some of the comments from the other reviews are very similar to our experience. Broken (very expensive) marble dining table: check. Try to blame the company that crated the table: check. Tried to use the 'laid the table flat' excuse of the crack in the table: check. Unwilling to accept any responsibility: check. We have used moving companies on moves from Chicago to SF, SF to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Charlotte and Charlotte to Chicago. By far, this was our worst experience. Sure we have had things broken during a move and the movers always accepted responsibility. It happens. However, in this case, the damage was due to negligence on the part of the moving crew. They put the 300 lb. crated top of the marble table on a dolly, wheeled it up the driveway and then let it sit there, unattended for 25 minutes until it eventually just fell over. It should have been brought directly into the house so that the company who originally crated the table could uncrate it and set it on it's base. This was a $5,000 table and the most valuable item on the truck. It should have been handled with kid gloves until it was in the house to be uncrated and set up. Here's the best part; when it was finally uncrated on the driveway where it fell, it was cracked from one end to the other. However, the movers never acknowledged the damage. Never apologized, never said a word about it. Like it never even happened. When I called my customer service rep, he couldn't pass me on to the claims dept. fast enough. There were other issues that came up as well. Damage to the walls during the move into our just built new house. Permanent creases in our upholstered furniture that had been shrink wrapped and put into storage for 12 months. (other movers had wrapped the furniture in moving pads so no permanent wrinkles and creases). Honestly can't think of a reason to recommend Prager. read more

I recently used Prager for my family's move from Aurora to Lockport. Unfortunately, 2 pieces of my 4 month old daughter's jewelry were stolen during this move. When I contacted Prager, the claims consultant basically called me a liar and said that people misplace stuff all the time during moves and they intended to do nothing. First of all, I'm extremely organized and rarely lose anything, second, these pieces of jewelry had to fall out of two boxes each because the thief was dumb enough to put the boxes back and third, if i was going to lie about stolen jewelry, it wouldn't be pieces that were valued at so little! Our move cost over $3,300 and the cost of the missing jewelry was $120! I find it appalling that Prager didn't find it necessary to make this right! Of course, I will be replacing these items for my daughter but it sickens me that this happened during our move and we feel so violated! Word of mouth is a powerful tool and I plan to share my story with anyone that will listen to ensure that no one else experiences this! Lastly, I filed a police report (per Prager's claims consultant's recommendation) and of course, was told that it's likely nothing will happen! Although, I'm sure he knew that when he told me to file it! I've moved a lot and have used many moving companies with varied results but I've never been so unhappy with a moving company! read more

Prager/ Atlas will not honor damage claim. Prager damaged a marble table top during my move from Illinois to Wisconsin. They recommended a company to crate the marble piece before it was moved. The piece was crated in Prager's presence, they loaded it on the truck, they drove it to my new home, they unloaded it and when it was uncrated it was cracked in half. They denied my damage claim, trying to blame the crating company they recommended and oversaw the crating process. The job foreman said the damaged was caused by the crate being laid flat when it was unloaded. Do not believe that they will honor the "Full Value Replacement" they so strongly promote during the sales process. Buyer Beware! read more

I don't know why people had such awful experiences on Prager. Everyone I worked with (2 moves--one across states, one local) from Sales (Steve) to Move Coordinator (Brenda) to Movers (Luke was team leader) were all highly professional, efficient, prompt in reply, careful, and responsible. Our Condo Association tried to blame a damage in the elevator on them, and I knew it wasn't their fault (because my brother noticed the damage was existent before the move!). However, Luke was willing to go the extra mile & help us in whatever way they can. I'd recommend them over & over to anyone. read more

This company has UNBELIEVABLE customer service!! The staff went above and beyond to help my daughter unbury her Homecoming dress that she inadvertently left in her closet and was placed on the moving truck Friday while she was at school. In a complete panic I called Steve (sales) Friday night and he managed to rally the troops to come in on a Saturday morning to unload the truck to find the dress!! Truly saved the day! These guys are GREAT! Their movers are fast, but gentle. Nothing dinged, dented or broken, not even the bank! Their estimate was spot on, within dollars of the actual cost. Today I get a call from her, saying that they are not available on that day. Really? I have a friend that used them a few weeks ago and said they were fine, so I thought I'd try them. We contracted with Prager for a cross country move. While the quote was one of the highest of all of our bids we went with Prager due to good reviews and what appeared to be complete disclosure of costs. The Lead and driver and movers were absolutely wonderful (5 stars there!). We followed through on our end as asked by Prager to secure the correct identified location for the truck to park within a gated condo community upon arrival at our destination. What was not disclosed initially was the size of the truck (it did not move our items alone, but multiple others and this it was a massive truck - larger than moving trucks you typically see moving a family into your neighborhood). Prager now tells us this is a standard size truck for a cross country move, however, we do not make a cross country move every day and this should have been disclosed knowing they were moving us into a condo). Our condo community regularly accepts LARGE trailer type moving trucks....this one was so large upon arrival it could not be parked within our gated area without blocking cars from going in and out of the complex. The driver had to rent a U Haul (for about $70) and with the same crew (no extra help) shuttled in our furniture and boxes. We were held hostage by Prager for an additional $1,000 for this shuttle service. We would have had no way to anticipate this added cost. Upon reporting our concern to Prager, there was much "you should have known" patronizing tone and "sorry you were not happy". Pretty difficult to be happy about paying close to $8,000 for a move that was not a full household of furniture to then be dinged with an additional $1,000. Perhaps good for local moves--cannot recommend for a similar move to ours. Do yourself a favor an go with a different carrier. Don't even bother to call Prager. You'll see they have quite a few 1 Star reviews! read more

This was a wonderful experience from the very first phone call. Dawn was our first line coordinator, and provided superb customer service all the way through. Rick came out to our house, and was very personable and professional. He did a walk through and gave us an estimate that was almost spot on. We were moving from a house with horrible, spirally type stairs in Chicago to our new house in Chicago around 15 minutes northwest. We had Prager pack us up, and move us two days later. If you have the time, I recommend having that one day "sandwich" time to think out where you want everything moved. Adam was the foreman of the packers and the moving team, and man, did they take great care of us! We had two beautiful, but HUGE chests on our second floor. I did not think they would be able to move them. But yes, they did, to my great surprise and delight. We had nothing missing, nothing damaged and they moved everything per our direction. They worked so hard, and everything was timely, professional, and great. We are very happy customers, and can very much recommend them to all. Job so very well done, thanks so very much! read more
