I booked Your Sous Chef for my sister's bachelorette party in Indio and it was a highlight of the whole weekend. Jacob and his team are so easy to work with. Communication was very easy throughout the whole booking process. We enjoyed a three course dinner that was wonderfully plated and served to us. Everything was delicious! Jacob and his team are very flexible and will accommodate any dietary restrictions. He also asked multiple times about dietary restrictions before serving which really showed the care he takes into serving his guests. For serving, they were able to find everything in the kitchen at our Airbnb with ease. They cleaned up the kitchen and loaded the dishwasher leaving us with absolutely no clean up. I wanted to hire a private chef for my husbands 40th birthday. My go to was booked, so I found "Chef" Jacob and Carolina as a last resort. Jacob was a nightmare & ruined my husband's bday dinner that was meant to be special. They were BEYOND unprofessional & I ended up telling them to leave our rental for making antisemitic comments. But let me back up and explain how it got to that point. First, they arrived 45 mins late. Carolina mentioned how Jacob wanted to take pictures along the way so it made them late. OK, cool. I was a little annoyed, but moving on. I requested a table setup for an extra $150. It was a joke. Carolina put down a black tablecloth w/ silverware and then USED MY BIRTHDAY DECORATIONS that I set up on another table as the table decor. Bootleg service. It continues to get worse. They complain they drove an hour (they charge for travel) & they don't like doing 2 person dinners, but Carolina had a "good feeling about this one." I'm starting to feel uncomfortable. Don't take a job you don't want to do it & if you do take it, don't complain to your clients. This isn't a free service. My husband offered them a glass of wine since they seemed uptight & they ended up drinking the ENTIRE bottle during the short time they were with us. Jacob is talking A LOT & not cooking so I say "we're going to get out of your way & let you cook." But there wasn't much separation btwn the kitchen & the room we were sitting in, so he just keeps talking. My husband & I love having conversations w/ people from all walks of life, but Jacob was spewing so much nonsense that was hard to follow. Meanwhile his wife was doing ALL the cooking. Then Jacob brings up Kanye West & how he agrees w/ his statements about Jewish people "because black people are the real Jews." Twisted logic. We point out what Kanye said was deeply antisemitic & hateful. At this point I feel like leaving my own rental house as the conversation moves to religion. I'm not even going to get into Jacob's misogynistic views & behavior, but boy did he have them. My husband is trying to keep the peace, but Jacob spirals cutting us off & the conversation gets exhausting and dark. Carolina says, "I tell him not to have these conversations or we'll lose clients." Uh yeah, ya think? Now I'm used to hearing ignorant religious talk so hearing Jacob speak made me uncomfortable, but I have compassion as I grew up in the church. But when he turned the conversation back to Jewish people & said, "What if I told you, ONLY 6,000 JEWS DIED IN THE HOLOCAUST NOT 6 MILLION," I couldn't take his insanity anymore. I told him he sounds like a holocaust denier & what he said is antisemitic. He then loses it wielding his arms in the air telling me to apologize for calling him an antisemite or else he's leaving. So I show him the door and tell them both to pack up and leave. He gets loud & angry & my child is in the other room sleeping. At this point I'm feeling scared that this guy will get violent so my husband becomes the peace maker. Jacob asks me why I even care about Jewish people & I tell him because I'm human & have 0 tolerance for hate. Carolina is trying to finish the food, clearly upset. I tell her to just leave everything & I want this negative energy out of our space. I watch them leave as my husband tries to talk Jacob off a ledge...he was very unstable, unconscious, and emotionally immature. I can't even tell you how the food was because I was too sickened by what happened to eat it. I asked for my deposit back, but Carolina refused. I can't believe this "company" could come into someone's home and be so disrespectful and insane. Jacob also told my husband if we leave a review then he's not who he says he is (a peaceful person). You, Jacob are not in any position to make that statement. It saddens me that I have to write this review as I'd rather focus my energy on more positive things. But I think people should know who they're letting into their homes. Be warned. read more

We had a great experience with Jacob and Carolina. They communicated extremely fast prior to the event and helped us customize our menu perfectly. They arrived on time and got right to work and we truly could not believe the three course, six person dinner they produced in our small, not well outfitted, airbnb kitchen. It was incredible. They were so accommodating to my young daughters who were not part of our dinner, but wanted to watch professional chefs in action, and they even brought extra dessert for them! After they served the food, they did all the dishes and the kitchen was cleaner than before they came! He Is Amazing this guy is the real deal, he is honest and genuine cooks chops and works to your schedule and does with what ever you want. I felt so comfortable from the get go and thats a plus. He delivered and was on time, looking very professional and prepared. Chef Jacob came had the meal as agreed on target, chopped prepped and severed us and blessed us with an amazing time. We rented a home in La Quinta to celebrate my friend's bachelorette party. Ultimately, we picked a mexican bbq menu. He arrived on time and was super nice! I showed him where the kitchen and the grill was. He moved around it like he's been cooking in that kitchen all his life. We found out that the propane on the grill was empty, but he immediately have a back up plan prepared. We were able to find propane though, so we commenced with the original plan. The food came out great! He even added a few freebies that were delicious. I researched many private chefs in the Palm Springs/La Quinta area for my husband's 40th birthday dinner. I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful house, views and no one having to drive and reached out to Chef Jacob for some meal ideas and rough estimates for a 3 course, sit-down dinner for 8. I had a budget in mind and he worked within that. He shared some of his seasonal and 'favorites' menus which helped me narrow down the choices. He was even able to make a special dessert because it was my husband's favorite. His food quality, the flavors and presentation did not disappoint. You can tell he cares about what he does. The dinner was well paced and his wife assisted with the service and cleanup. They were a great team, very comfortable to work with (really nice and genuine people) and I did not feel that I had to do any extra prep for the dinner.
