I'm visiting from out of town and had a free morning before my flight. Booked a walk-in for 9:30 and had the loveliest time. They had a mat for me and access to lockers was clutch. The class was great. The studio was warm. The room was large. So often I'm smooshed up against my fellow yogis but this morning there was plenty of room to breathe. Had a great class and loved that there was an Açaí place attached in the lobby area. There is also access to showers if you need which is another great touch. So glad I came! Namaste. read more

I used some ClassPass credits to check out a evening candlelight stretch class at YTX. I am not much of a yogi and find it hard to quiet my mind in yoga classes, but am working on my flexibility so I figured I would give it a shot. I was truly blown away by my experience at the YTX studio. Upon walking in you are greeted by friendly front desk workers, who make checking in very easy. The room I went into for my class was being extensively cleaned from the class before us (which is great to see at a hot yoga studio), and was large in size. I like not feeling claustrophobic or too close to other people when doing yoga, and YTX studios have enough space to feel like you can really stretch out. The class provides hands on support with essential oils throughout, and I found myself leaving extremely relaxed! Will definitely be back. read more

This review is not for the quality of the yoga classes. Quality is amazing! Also, I never write reviews but had to stand up for something I felt was handled very poorly. I signed up for the unlimited new client special month of $50. I was really excited and enjoyed trying a few classes ( I only was able to go 3 times). Then, I decided due to financial reasons that I was not ready to commit to a membership. I then checked my credit card and noticed I was charged $150 for a monthly membership. I was never notified of this. If I hadn't had checked, who knows how long I would have been charged without my notice. I have never had a work out studio move ahead and charge you for the next month. I have always had to re-new my membership to reflect the new unlimited monthly membership with new fee. I find this policy very sneaky - who knows how many other members incurred these fees without their knowledge. Maybe they still are! I then reached out to customer services explaining the situation and they DID NOT refund me. This is a yoga studio and I expect better. They took my money after explaining that it was an honest mistake. Shame on them. I would have loved to join at some point. Now, I just can't given the principle of how they handled this situation. read more

Unfortunately terrible experience with the front desk. I have been a member in the past and booked the class on class pass this time. For some reason it did go through (only noticed when I got to the studio). I got time off work (lunch time), parked (parking is not easy in downtown austin) and got to the class. Unfortunately my reservation didn't go through and it was too late to book again. I was told they can't book me on class pass, I can pay for a class to take it. I left my wallet in the car (I came to yoga after all) and I was told "there is nothing I can do". I said I was a member in the past, I do use class pass, there are surely tons of things you can do. For example: let me take a class, let me pay after, discount the class, because customer retention is expensive. In fact more expensive than any accommodation you can do to a customer in this situation. It's a yoga studio after all, isn't it about trying to at least work it out? I was told "sorry, there is nothing I can do". Well, guess what, there are million of things black swan yoga studio could have done. So, unfortunately for the owners, you just lost a customer who surely be telling the experience to other customers. Was it all worth it? Having a flexibility in your decision making would save you so much business that can be so hard to get in the future when recession hits. read more

Ah, it's so painful to leave a bad review for this beautiful studio! I'm from LA and travel a lot for business, so whenever I go I try to find a yoga studio nearby to take classes while away from home. I came here for Power Yoga class, not going to mention the teacher's name, because he was lovely and in no way it's an attack on him. Here is what was wrong with that class: 1. Website says it's for ALL levels, but the teacher did not show a single pose, instead, he was walking around almost rambling names of different asanas, so, if you are new to this, there is no way, you can follow the class. 2. I could barely hear the teacher due to loud music. 3. Transitions are important in yoga, even more important than asanas and transitioning with control is what defines how good you are. At this class we didn't have more than 1 second for each pose, the rhythm was absolutely crazy and not in a good way. I saw people behind me who were trying to keep up and as a result didn't do anything properly:( 4. At one point of the class we were told to just do our own flow for 2 minutes, as there was no flow set up for us. Imagine if this was one of your first classes...... I would freak out:) I am all about intensive yoga and making it as hard as possible, that's why I love Power Flow so much. But this was very chaotic, not challenging, as you barely had time to really try anything and I really hope that this didn't discourage a lot of people from doing yoga ever again. read more

My wanderlust has led me to traveling to Austin for this weekend, and I wanted to do Yoga at some point during my trip. How perfect is this studio called Wanderlust Yoga?! Furthermore, I lucked out with this yoga studio literally being around the corner of my hotel. The universe was definitely on board with me on this one. I had no problems with reserving my spot in class at the last minute, and I was able to book my spot through the MINDBODY app. I liked that the studio shared its space with a smoothie/juice bar. I'm not sure if the smoothie/juice bar was a part of the studio or if it was its own establishment, but I was a fan of how they complemented each other on wellness. I took a vinyasa class in the first room to the left, and I found that the studio wasn't very big and easily filled up wall to wall. There were no mirrors in this room, so you can't check on your own alignment. What concerned me a bit was that the instructor neither gave tips on proper posture nor did she go around fixing alignments. read more

Took a class at Wanderlust this week while I was in town for work. I came to a Vinyasa class at 6am with about 10 coworkers. We showed up 2 minutes before class (not great) but nonetheless the staff was super helpful in getting us shuffled in. The class seemed to be oversold, which coming in late made it a tight squeeze but all yogis were accommodating and made room. I don't practice yoga regularly and very much enjoyed the class. The teacher gave the appropriate amount of direction and really made for an amazing hour. Going home, I am now wanting to add yoga into my routine. If you're in Austin and staying downtown, I'd recommend adding a class at Wanderlust to your list. read more

An awesome yoga experience!! PSA: parking is terrible. There is only street parking in the area, being downtown, but it is always full. So either plan to walk/scoot here or come early to snag a spot somewhere, if you are so lucky. That aside, it is a really lovely studio. Very clean and very yogi aesthetic. The studio has showers, lockers, and a blenders&bowls inside which are all super nice. The front desk peeps are wonderful. I ended up having a little car conflict as I was trying to park, making me run late. I called ahead as they request and they totally took care of me. As long as I got there within 10 minutes of class starting, I had a reserved mat laid down for me. Luckily, I made it and the front desk gal led me in and helped me out. Big thanks for that. The class itself was great. Definitely a lot of sweat and work in the Vinyasa class. I felt like I worked hard and got a lot out of it. The instructor was Gustavo, who seemed very knowledgeable, challenging, and helpful. He would come by to offer help as the class went on. The class did move quickly but it was good hard work. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of a few minor things, one being the price. It was $28 just for the class. You can get packages and all to minimize your total costs, but it still is a really expensive place. If you have the money and it's worth, then go for it! But it is not the most sustainable place to do yoga regularly, when other places are a lot more affordable. And then, just again, the class moved kind of fast. I did Vinyasa which said it was open to all levels, but it felt like it was more of an intermediate class at the least. The instructor didn't really show us how to do a lot of it, it was just kind of expected you would know what the poses are. And since it was so fast, it was hard to keep up and actually get the poses fully. If that is what you are looking for then it's great, and I still enjoyed the class--luckily I knew majority of the poses already. But something I appreciate about other places I've been to is when the instructor is keen on ensuring everyone goes at their own pace and understands how to do the poses and asanas. It creates an environment where you don't feel pressured to perform, but rather just do what your body needs. Again, it was still a wonderful place and instructor and experience. Everyone has different tastes. I think I'd like to come back again and try another class, but I also just don't know if it's somewhere I'd regularly go. read more

The YTX studio is an incredible space with even better classes and friendly staff. I've only taken Yo Strong classes but it is PHENOMENAL! If you've ever taken Corepower's sculpt class it's similar but YTX's version is even better (which I never knew would be possible but seriously Yo Strong is the best). They provide mat rentals for a fee and the bathrooms have showers with soap, conditioner, etc. YTX also has a smoothie bar (Juiced Up) within it that offers a wide a range of delicious snacks and smoothies post-workout. The front desk was super friendly and helpful -- plus they helped me find a really cute Alo set in their store section!! I would recommend the instructors Julia and Danika -- both have great energy and make you WORK! YTX is definitely my favorite yoga studio in Austin. I hope they open more studios soon! read more

Such a great experience! Customer service was on point. I felt very welcomed and taken care of. The front desk agent gave me a personalized tour of the space, showed me where to put my things, helped me with the locker lock and made me feel at home. Lots of warm smiles and friendly faces. And the downtown Yoga studio space was incredible. The detail, the lighting, the music, the instruction was all 5-star! I joined the 6pm Power Flow class and the instructor was amazing. I find that exercising while on a business trip helps give you a sense of balance, and yoga is a godsend, when you've been sitting at an airport/on a flight and have a grumpy back! I found Wanderlust thanks to a quick google search of yoga studios near my hotel. For $28, you can drop-in and a yoga mat, non-slip towel and face towel are included as part of your fee (great, if you're not local). The Tuesday 6am class also included a DJ, which I am a fan of. I admit, the front desk staff wasn't as helpful as I would have thought, I found myself going back to ask "where can I store my belongings?" and "where does my rented mat go?" But to be fair, it was 5:30am! Collette taught a great class, and I really enjoyed some new yoga poses that I've never tried before. So glad I made the choice to start my day with yoga here, and I'll certainly be back in the future! read more

I have been going to Wanderlust, now YTX, off and on since I moved to Austin ~6 years ago. In the past year, I feel that the customer service has improved; the front desk seems more organized and I like the new Union system for class booking. They also ran a Black Friday sale on class packs which made my class cost very reasonable. They also did a fantastic job getting us back onto our mats when it was safe during Covid while following all of the safety protocols in the Studio (I hope the mat spacing stays, so the classes never get too crowded!). They have top-notch instructors and I always feel like I'm taking a class at a wellness retreat. Some of the classes are tough, but the instructors make you feel comfortable and suggest modifying poses. I don't plan on every going anywhere else in Austin. read more

Overall, Austin benefits from a studio like wanderlust. I've always had great interactions from staff and instructors and the wooden floors, ample bathroom amenities, and those acai bowls from blenders and bowls though.... PLUSES- Space. Wood floors, good music (sometimes live) and even on the ROOFTOP and the rooms are spacious and calming. Teachers. Approachable and friendly. Kate and giaconda are masters at taking a vinyasa flow and making it creative and fun but challenging. Times. Large variety of class times (6 am till 845 pm yeah!) Options - can try heated or warmed classes, vinyasa flow or a hot hatha yoga. Levels for beginner through advanced. Events - they host outdoor yoga during south by, have live bands, festivals, and fun workshops. MINUSES... Parking. Better get here early, ride your bike, or be prepared to warm up with a brisk walk to the studio from 7 blocks away. Price. It's a little pricey for a drop in (I expect a lot for $20) but if you go regularly the monthly rates are competitive. Yostrong - some of these poses look a little iffy... Bicep curls in chair pose? Lower lumbar nightmare. Just tuck your tailbone. High level of community involvement and good vibes. this is one of the places I always have a punch card for drop ins when I'm in town. read more

I did a yin and restore class while visiting town... the space is nice and big with a great full locker room. The class however felt like a $28 nap... well $30 after mat rental. There were no cues given other than to name the pose and the poses themselves weren't fantastic. I love a good yin class - expecting it to be more than a whole lot of child's pose. I attended the Saturday offerings of the recent Wanderlust Yoga Festival, which was way more than I could have ever expected! First off, if you plan on attending next year's Fest, definitely get their Sched app! It was fantastic! You could sign up for what events you wanted to participate in on a particular day and you could access it via the app and even get alert emails of your schedule and particular events! Registration and check-in were easy and the part they had closed down on 4th (right in front of the studio) was chock full of awesome swag, free samples, amazing yoga gear (clothing, mats, etc) and the map you received at check in was fairly easy to follow to locate your respective event check-in. My highlight event that I participated in was hands down the Yogaslackers Adventure Race! It was yoga meets scavenger hunt meets urban racing and was soooo much fun! It was the most physically challenging thing I did and was a blast! I hope they do this one again next year! I also really loved all the samples the vendors were handing out from the energy bars and trail mix to probiotic water powders to product demos. They even had this great area set up behind 4th St where the bands played. There was a "recharge and refresh" station that had outlets (if you brought your charger cord) to recharge your phone along w/facewipes, deodorant, and breath mints. There was even some cold brew coffee samples available. Adjacent was this neat little lounge area where you could just relax in various comfy couches or chairs while you listened to music or people watched. Can't wait for next year! read more

I called and talked to Emily to get info on purchasing a new yoga mat. She was very friendly. When I came in, Zooey helped me to pick out a wonderful yoga mat. She was very kind. I've decided to try wanderlust for lessons too, because the vibe was great. When I came home I realized that the mat was faded where sun hits the mat - it was stored with the plastic ribbon thingy around it. My guess is they don't sell many yoga mats. I called them and they were very friendly: they told me I can swap the mat out for a same blue yoga mat. It'll be at that location by Friday. I called Friday just to make sure it's there, but unfortunately there was a girl that didn't know anything about my situation. Many phone calls back and forth and visits to the store (and yes: parking is annoying) - in the end they just said they don't have the blue yoga mat anymore. Also, they could not provide me the info if they are ordering the mat again and if yes: when? +++ UPDATE +++ The manager Lizzie called me and took care of my problem! They went above and beyond to help me find a solution. I am very happy with wanderlust. Zoe was very kind - I tried her class yesterday (vinyasa) and it was absolutely ONE OF THE BEST CLASSES I HAVE EVER TAKEN..!! I'm so glad about their help and second chances for all of us. The class I took this past week was exactly what I needed after being stuck in hotels for four nights while waiting for flights to get back home during the recent ice storm in Austin. I dropped in for an early evening hot flow class. I like hot yoga to be warmer than most places get. This room delivered the heat. Even during an ice storm, the class was completely full. Both the instructor and the front desk staff kept up with the volume of people. I can see why this studio gets such rave reviews from locals. I work next door and have been walking past this place every single day for the past few months and YES it is finally open and YES it is awesome. There are a couple of different parts to Wanderlust: 1. Yoga Studio 2. Live Music 3. Cafe aka: Blenders and Bowls They had their open house today and the inside is gorgeous and full of personality. Blenders and Bowls specializes in acai berry bowls/smoothies and the samples they gave out were SO DELICIOUS. I'm definitely going to end up stopping by at least once a week for breakfast or a snack. Our tour guide also mentioned they might have healthy lunch options in their case as well, which would be FANTASTIC. And yes, our tour guide and everyone we met that worked there was super, super nice. As for the yoga studio, there are two rooms: a giant one with a stage (for bands!) and a small one with candles. The main concept seems to be based off of the Wanderlust music festival, so a lot of yoga classes are going to be with live music which I think is very cool, and very Austin-y. On their website they list all their classes (one is with HULA HOOPS), AND you can register on there which gives them major props in my book because I love informative websites. My one and only and very small complaint would be the price. There are already two donation based studios downtown, their average class (nonstudent/discount) is $18 or $120 for the month. Which is pretty standard as far as yoga studios go, but for some one who isn't swimming in $$$ like myself, it could be a little steep. Best of luck Wanderlust! The class itself was just what I needed; first class of Kaley's that I've taken, and definitely won't be the last since she's leading the 200 hour Power training I plan to take next month. The studio is beautiful - it's cozy, earthy and warm, and everyone is friendly despite how busy it gets! I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a positive yoga experience. I contracted SARS-COV2 from an unvaccinated yoga teacher teaching during the day. When I called to ask if they were changing their mask policy or reducing class capacity to address the Stage-5 warning from the city of Austin, they said they were not making any changes at this time and were not requiring proof of a negative covid test or masks in the studio. The quality of instruction has gone down and I would recommend several other studios in Austin over YTX at this point. They require you to be 500 hour certified to teach there, but the classes are pretty poor quality and don't seem like they're taught by 500 hour teachers. For the safety of yourself and others as well as for a decent yoga practice, I'd recommend Equinox, Breath & Body or Practice Yoga Austin over YTX. read more

Very CORPORATE style yoga - detached, impersonal, expensive. I signed up for their first month unlimited for $48. It was worth it at that price but not for more. Pros: Beautiful studio, nice decor, and useful amenities. There are lockers that you can lock with a code, showers with hot water, razors in case you forgot yours, and hand towels to wipe sweat. Cons: Most of the teachers just call out the moves from their phone. They don't do what they say themselves and don't correct. You can really hurt yourself if you learn yoga moves the wrong way. They could just play a recording of yoga instructions from Youtube and it would be the same. $28 for drop in classes plus $2 mat rentals. Pretty pricy for the quality of instruction. The classes are packed. The locker rooms are tiny. Watch your stuff carefully. I've had clothes that I've placed on the locker room bench disappear in a second when I turn away. If you don't get there early, even though you signed up and they sign you in at the front desk, you may not get a spot. They allow people to sign up for more spots than they have. Not the best feeling after you already pay for a parking spot, which are almost always taken. Unless you live super close, or need the convenience of showers and a nice cafe, go somewhere else. Yoga is beautiful and your relationship with your teacher and the studio is important for your growth. read more

I wish I could take Wanderlust home with me. Beautiful studio with all the full details and amenities taken care of (mouthwash, deodorant, hair dryer, etc etc). They have a beautiful small store with yoga clothes that i can see myself impulse buying since it's much nicer than what I am wearing. They give you a very nice and sanitized manduka mat for my drop in class. I was in Grace room for both of my early morning classes when I was in town. Easy check-in, friendly staff, and really good yoga teachers. I had Sam and Janice at 6am on Thursday and Friday morning and they were different but both extremely good. I've been doing yoga for many years and in the 60 minutes I felt a very good sweat, a lot of good movement and mobility, mental calmness, and ready to take on the day. read more

Update: Got a comment from the owner saying that the employee that was supposed to be working the front desk was over at Frost Tower donating blood. While that is admirable, it's never good form to provide bad service and then tell a gay man that you couldn't be bothered to provide good service because your employee was exercising a right that your customer doesn't have. (Gay men still cannot donate blood, for anyone who's confused.) Not pulling "the gay card," just pointing out that your understanding of customer service kinda sucks. Don't make excuses. Say you're sorry, that you'll address the failure with staff, and move on. 9/27/16: Stood at the unattended front desk for close to 10 minutes. Finally just gave myself a tour since no one was stopping me or offering to do so. Seemed like a nice space. Went back to the desk. One of the ladies from Blenders and Bowls came over to say hi and see if she could find a Wanderlust employee, but there was no one to be found. She offered to take a message or answer questions, but I said I wasn't interested. I won't pay $10 for bad (read: nonexistent) customer service, much less $120-150 per month. This is the best yoga studio in Austin. The instructors are well versed and inspiring and the classes leave me feeling recharged. A lot of yoga makes me want to rage quit and drink but wanderlust... wanderlust does the job. One off classes are a little pricey but you can catch lots of free ones around town. Visiting Austin from Los Angeles and a guy from "OM at the Dome" at the statehouse suggested I go there. Ran into a group of yogis while on my tour of the Texas state capital. Apparently the suggestion came from a "yoga snob", but how was I to know my mistake then? I should have caught wind from his patchouli trust- fund cologne... Lol. For the price, I was not impressed. It was $18 for the class plus $2 extra for a mat that smelled like hippie feet. It was the 12 pm class on Sunday, and the teacher insisted on everyone giving some horrible speech about a life changing person... Which made me feel violated and uncomfortable... This lasted 20 minutes, since many people over- indulged themselves. Then there was only 45 minutes of yoga left, in which much of it we were told to flow "freely" ourselves. I'm sorry, but if I'm paying $20 bucks on yoga... Guide me! Don't tell me to do my own freestyle half the damn class! In all... It was overly trendy, and underly spiritual. It felt like "the place to see and be scene" of the yoga scene in Austin. The blond at the front desk gave me plenty of attitude, and the patrons and teacher seemed self absorbed, self important, cliquish, and insular. Not one ounce of welcome was felt, as an out of towner. Perhaps I made the mistake of saying I was from LA, which I shouldn't have done... The city does have a bad wrap, after all. But even still.... Over trendy, over priced, over- attitude, and worst! Bad parking.... seriously, a poser haunt, "Sans" spirituality. Goto black swan instead, for the real "heart", and friendly yoga spirit. read more
