Walking into this restaurant you were instantly greeted by staff and directed to sit wherever you were comfortable. The restaurant itself gave off that small town vibe and welcoming vibe. Great prices, classic breakfast that satisfies the hunger cravings, and cool retro decor make this spot a great option! I got the Sullivan (BEC) omelette which has a ton of bacon and cheese inside! The toast was buttered and toasted to perfection. We tried both the blueberry and raspberry pies with ice cream on top as well; would recommend the blueberry over the raspberry personally (was sweet and not overpoweringly tart). We always search out diners when traveling as they usually have good food. This place is no exception. The decor is very cute, with old TV and movie memorabilia. You seat yourself and a friendly server brought us menus. Breakfast is huge here, but I wanted lunch and they had enough items for me to make a good choice. They offered a ham and cheese sandwich and our server fortunately told me it was cold. I dislike cold sandwiches. She willingly offered to have it grilled. Yay for her! The sandwich came with chips, coleslaw and a pickle. We didn't wait long at all. The sandwich was real ham, not deli meat and was super tender. Great sandwich and great service. Definitely worth our stop for a simple fare after eating lobster for days. read more

We visited Martha's on a recent trip to Maine. There was a little bit of a wait on a Sunday morning but we were seated at the bar promptly which overlooks the kitchen. This place was dirty to me. Everything felt sticky and messy. It seemed like there was stuff everywhere. We felt a bit out of place as it seemed like everyone knew each other. While waiting to order we watched an employee (maybe owner/manager) handle cash at the register and then use bare hands to handle cookies without washing hands in between. :-/ We ordered coffee and OJ. My coffee mug was dirty and I had to ask for another mug. I ordered the house sandwich and my husband ordered the eggs Benedict. My sandwich had a piece of ham but it was missing something. (Like a sauce instead of mayo) My husband's eggs Benedict was lacking in flavor also. The potatoes were just ok. Overall it was an ok stop but we didn't really feel welcome and the food handling practices seemed lacking. read more

The vibes are amazing, I sat at the bar top that has about 5 seats and got to watch the cooks and the owner prep and cook everyone's food in their open kitchen concept. Swung by the diner after dropping our truck for service. There was plenty of parking up front but for sure it will get packed during rush hours. Very quaint interior with regulars dining or waiting to be seated. We were seated in the back and was served promptly. Make sure not to miss the special of the day board. Omelette was awesome. Server great and very attentive even though she was quite busy. We saw on line they had the best corned beef hash. Well, I make corned beef hash at home. I have to say this was canned but doctored. Tasted ok but definitely not homemade. They did have amazing breakfast specials on a board. Look at that first. Next time I'll be ordering off the board. We had blueberry pancakes, waffles, omelettes, eggs, etc. Their ham is delicious. It's not your usual restaurant ham. What a find! This terrific little diner has it all. A great casual ambience that favors Americana, Lucille Ball, Elvis Presley and more. We loved The Beach Boys tour poster on the wall! An open kitchen diner where you can see a perfectly seasoned grill. The owner and the servers greet you warmly as if you were family when you come in. The food was incredible. So darn good. Each bite makes you feel like you are in your grandmother's kitchen. The home fries were just perfectly grilled. The eggs were not overly cooked -- an all too common occurrence. Our party had the ham and eggs with cheese special, a blueberry muffin that was slightly seared on the grill, two blueberry pancakes and the freshest Crabmeat Benedict. In fact, the Benedict was so fresh it was flirting with us. The homemade toast was soaked in butter and still crisp. Our server Carol was incredibly friendly and helpful. Her smile was infectious. She showed us the specials and answered all of our questions without hesitation. The owner checked us out and was genuinely concerned that we enjoyed our breakfast. What a fun place! Really busy, but they kept the line moving and service was efficient. Matt was our server and very speedy and attentive to everyone - great to see someone with so much energy! The food was very good. My husband had the blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup - heavenly (he shared a little with me). I hade the LaMoine omelette and it was tasty and plentiful. The fun part is the 1950's memorabilia all around and the classic diner decor. A bit of a wait to get in as the place is small, but worth it and filled with local patrons. The people here are absolute gems. My friends and I were driving from Bar Harbor to Portland during a trip from NYC and stopped here for brunch. It was slightly chilly out, and I asked them if they could accommodate outdoor dining (I brought my doggo). While they didn't have it set up, they brought out the tables, chairs, etc just for us! So nice. On top of that, the nice lady brought water for my doggo before I even asked, and checked on us regularly. The food was all delicious: blueberry pancakes, corned beef hash, crab Benedict special, and the toast with blueberry jam. I enjoyed the hash and the blueberry pancakes, but those are more "standard" fare that can be found at other brunch places in Maine, so can skip if you're interested in other dishes. Make sure you upgrade the toast and jam -- it's worth it! Aside from that one, my favorite was the crab Benedict: flavorful and packed with crab. If this is being served, I consider this a must get. While it was empty when we arrived (we got there decently early), it filled up quickly and there was a wait by the middle of our meal. A great option in the area! After my first visit to Martha's Diner 3 years ago, it remains my go-to for anyone seeking a breakfast spot in the Ellsworth area. The food is soooo good! From freshly made muffins to yummy omelets to the most amazing crab benedict. If visiting on a day when crab and cheddar quiche is on the menu, don't think twice, just order it - you'll be glad you did! The staff are wonderful - efficient, friendly, and quick with a laugh. Conveniently located on the way to Acadia National Park, Martha's Diner seems like a good spot based on reviews alone. It sits on a small shopping strip and seems to be a local's hangout. I ordered a big breakfast and also a single pancake (hungry!). Eggs sunny side up were cooked perfectly, I picked kielbasa for a meat, it was all greasy and salty, typical diner food that hits the spot. I couldn't finish my pancake but I was able to take it on the road with some VT maple syrup. So, that was good food, the coffee was also good, all typical diner food that I remember from my travels up north. But, the added bonus is to sit at the counter and hang out with total strangers. Everyone talking to each other, no one cares who is who, it's all family. And speaking of family, lots of desserts that are home made, and I really wanted to take some with me but it was only me, so it would just go to waste.
