I had seen that Paris Baguette was now carrying Ube products and as a Filipina I was super excited. My mother is visiting me helping me with my babies and she has a bad hip so I decided to try out this location one more time and give it another chance. However, the experience was far less than ideal and my mom and I ended up wasting a lot of money as the drinks we purchased just ended up in the trash. We had incorrectly assumed an Ube latte contained coffee as all Ube lattes we have gotten elsewhere are coffee drinks. When we return to ask what was in the drink since we had wanted a coffee drink, the person working there just told us it was Ube powder and milk, which was not what we had originally wanted. I told them that it didn't taste anything like Ube and that it was so horrible tasting that we were just going throw it away. The staff just stood there and just stared at us without any response. I think the most disappointing thing about this location is the lack of customer awareness. At any other café I have gone to in the neighborhood, if something was wrong with a drink or it tasted bad, they gladly remade it or substituted it for us but every time I have an issue at this location and shop in general, the staff seem to have no idea what to do and how to handle it. If they get my order wrong (which has been multiple times) they fix it, but if there is some kind of other issue, they don't know how to keep a customer. This will be the last time I go to this location, but I wanted to share this feedback as it was another really disappointing experience and a waste of our money. If we are able to get a refund for the drink purchases, I would greatly appreciate it, but at this point based on how my experience has been here, I am not expecting it. I have attached my original review and our receipt below.

Not only…read moreare the desserts incredible, but the employees were so friendly and pleasant to deal with as well. The star of the show is, of course, the Merveilleux. It's made with light, airy meringue and whipped cream, then covered in chocolate shavings. It somehow manages to be rich and delicate at the same time. I can see why it's their signature dessert. They offer different flavors and sizes too, from mini versions to larger cakes that are perfect for sharing. One of the coolest parts of visiting is that the kitchen is completely open. You can watch the pastry chefs assembling these beautiful creations right in front of you. It's mesmerizing and makes the whole experience feel special. The bakery has roots in Northern France and Belgium, where the Merveilleux originated, but pastry chef Frédéric Vaucamps reinvented the classic recipe to make it lighter and more modern. Whatever he did worked because these pastries are unforgettable. A quick tip: cash only, so come prepared. Honestly, if you're anywhere nearby, I think you need to run there. Between the amazing desserts, the friendly staff, and the chance to watch everything being made fresh, it's one of the most enjoyable bakery experiences I've had in a long time. I know you won't be sorry!

Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a tiny, beautifully fragrant shop on 8th Ave. I ordered the cold brew black and it was one of the smoothest, most satisfying first cups of the day I've had in a long time. Finding genuinely good black cold brew in this city is harder than it should be, and this one hit the spot so perfectly I made a second solo trip before sundown. The chocolate and almond croissant was delicate, flaky, and exactly what a croissant should be. The shop itself is small, no indoor seating, but two benches out front! The staff was warm and the whole place smells incredible the moment you walk in. I've already earmarked the Cramique for my next visit, because if it's anywhere near as good as everything else, I'm in trouble. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

I get that rent in the city is not cheap, but this shop doesn't offer anything else besides the food. There's only 2 seats by the window, and even then, it's very cramped seating, so it's not really like you could sit down to enjoy the food/ambiance. I think I would be more ok with the priciness if it tasted spectacular or the portions were big, but the cheesecake was neither. I got the $29 cheesecake platter so I could try 4 flavors at once. Having just tried Lamoone not too long ago, which also offers basque cheesecakes with Asian flavors and SAMPLES, I think Ando is just ok when it comes to the cheesecakes. Yuzu and original were the superior flavors while matcha and oolong were alright. I'm not tempted to go back again for them like I am for Lamoone, though. The slices of cheesecake that were included in the platter were half the size of a regular slice of cheesecake from say, The Cheesecake Factory, so $29/4=$7.25 for a tiny slice is kind of absurd. I got to try their jasmine pana cotta, and that was unexpectedly really good. The jasmine flavor really came through and the texture of the pana cotta was perfect. There was only one person working in the front and at least one person in the back when I went with my friend, who also ordered the same thing as me and a drink. And only one other customer bought something from here while we were here. Yet, it took about 15 minutes for our desserts to be ready.

This place is known for their macarons, I do not eat them but this location has a full on menu. I had a latte which comes with the Laduree logo on top and the latte was very good. Honestly, better than my meal. Which, by the way if you want to dine in it's a $35.00 min per person per table. Before I read this I was just thinking about going ti get a coffee and sit in the outside garden area. I was wrong. I ended up getting eggs Benedict with bacon. It came on a brioche bread which, I never had before. Usually, this dish comes on an english muffin. It was good and had the sauce on the side. The eggs itself come as two legit hard boiled eggs on top which, I had never seen before. Was it worth the price...ehh not really, but did have a nice waiter who took my allergies seriously and wrote them all down. Yes, I am glad I came to check it out, do I need to come back here though not really, unless I came for like a tea with some friends than maybe we would see.

0/5 -- An incredibly disappointing experience…read more I'm honestly so sad to write this because I visited Sweet Rehab about three years ago and remember having a completely different impression of this place. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don't see myself returning. My partner ordered an $80+ birthday cake online for pickup, only for us to arrive and be told that they apparently didn't have it. The entire pickup process felt incredibly disorganized. Staff members were going back and forth trying to figure out what happened, and because we understand French, we could hear them discussing among themselves that they didn't have the cake. For something that had already been ordered and paid for online for a birthday, this was unacceptable. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was the overall atmosphere behind the counter. The way the owner/store manager spoke to the employees in front of customers came across as very unprofessional, and the whole situation just felt chaotic. I genuinely don't know what happened between my visit three years ago and now. Sweet Rehab unfortunately joins a growing list of hyped NYC establishments -- Carbone and Misi come to mind from my own experiences -- that seem to have gotten too comfortable with their reputation while continuing to charge a significant premium. When you're paying $80+ for a birthday cake, you're not just paying for flour, cream, and presentation. You're paying for reliability, service, and the expectation that the cake you ordered will actually be there when you arrive to pick it up. Experiences like this are honestly why we've started opting to celebrate more at home. We decided to eat at home with a home cooked meal for his birthday, and I've even made my own Charlotte cake from scratch for my birthday before. If these establishments are going to charge premium prices without delivering premium service, I'd rather put the effort into making something special myself. Sadly, I probably won't be returning to Sweet Rehab. For future birthday cakes and special occasions, Lysee and other rising talented patisseries will be getting my business instead.
