Black Sesame Lava Cream Crepes Roll / 黑芝麻流心卷

A small Chinese French fusion bakery. Their selection is rather small and a bit expensive, but they do a good job combining simple dim sum classics with modern Western baking. There's not really anywhere to sit inside, so it's better as a grab-and-go dessert spot. Ordered the black sesame crepe cake, which was packaged well. It was light, fluffy and moist, not too sweet. Probably wouldn't return due to prices but it's worth a try.

Ando features some of the tastiest and prettiest desserts I've ever witnessed, but it is very expensive. My best friend sent me a delivery order from here with a Basque Cheesecake Sampler ($36) and Matcha Tiramisu ($15), which was such a sweet surprise. Not only was it packaged well, it was presented so beautifully. The floral decors are such a nice touch. I really liked the cheesecake sampler since it gave you a small slice of 4 flavors for those who like variety like me. It came with an original, matcha, oolong, and yuzu. The flavors are prominent with the creamy and dense texture of the basque cheesecake, which did not disappoint. But the real star here was the matcha tiramisu in my opinion. I ended up finishing this entire thing within minutes because I just couldn't stop. It's light and airy with some nice crunchy toppings. It's a very nice spot to get a gift because of how pretty and tasty it is. I just find it too pricey otherwise.

This is a super small coffee shop with super limited seating options to enjoy your drinks and pastries. It is a more grab and go place. I was very interested in trying the orange espresso since it has been all over social media. It's pretty much orange juice with espresso and an orange garnish. It tasted interesting but I did not enjoy it much. When I took my first sip, I asked the barista is there pineapple in here as it tasted like it. She said deff no. I may come back here if I find myself in the area again to try just a regular latte or cappuccino. It was also a bit slow and there was no one else here. She was just multi tasking while making my drink.

We stepped in here a few weeks ago because I caught a glimpse of the black sesame crepe roll online and just HAD to have it. I have developed a huge liking for asian inspired flavors like black sesame and pandan over the years and really wanted to experience this creation. The shop is really small and has some sitting room but it's probably best to take your order to go as the space can get pretty cramped. Service was quick and efficient. The crepe roll comes with a little packet of crunchy accoutrements that you sprinkle over the top. I appreciated the added textural element of these, as the crepe roll itself is quite soft and pillowy in contrast. The dusting on top tastes predominantly of brown sugar. I like that the crepe roll was filled generously with cream, and getting to the gooey black sesame "lava" was exciting, but I did wish for more black sesame element. It was a bit heavy on the whipped cream. Also I know Asian desserts are notorious for not being too sweet which is why I love them, but this creation could use a little bit more sugar. Not a lot, just a little bit more. My friend's strawberry cloud cake was soft and spongey and generous with the filling but kind of one dimensional in taste and also not sweet enough. I also found this place excessively overpriced for what they're offering. We paid $46 for two desserts and a latte which I think is insane. Unfortunately I think the hype is not really worth the quality of the desserts here, and that they should work to refine their products more before charging such astronomical prices.

Stumbled upon Ando and ordered their sesame crepe and chestnut cake. The chestnut cake was a bit sweeter for my liking but my boyfriend loved it. We both loved the sesame crepe. It wasn't too sweet and even had sesame cream in the center. Soo good when topped with the peanut powder as well. Highly recommend their sesame crepe!

On our dessert crawl through the East Village, this became our final stop! At first we saw an extremely long line, but turns out everyone was there for the specialty bread and we can order in a separate line for other items. The staff recommended a few items and they were all hits! The crowd favorite was definitely the yuzu basque cheesecake, which went eaten in a snap! Will definitely be back to try more!

AMBIANCE: 7.5/10 -cute interior w a mew by the window -very limited seating SERVICE: 10/10 -cashier was very nice and accommodating, no complaints FOOD -osmanthus oolong basque cheesecake, 8/10: good texture overall with a creamier center! not mind-blowingly good but solid -boba egg tart, 8.75/10: had boba on top and cream had tangible tea flavor! consistency of tart was good, boba was pretty good and stayed soft for a long time -jasmine panna cotta: didn't try but friend liked it :)

Got the cheese stuffed cakes with pork floss. They were decent but didn't feel too fresh. Would probably opt for something that is freshly made next time.

We went yesterday evening because there weren't a lot of dessert options still open after 8PM. I wasn't expecting much to be leftover as it was late, and the case/menu looked maybe half empty. The girl who helped us was nice, but she said they still had a decent amount of desserts available. Ironically, every dessert we and the couple after us asked about were out. I had wanted to try some of their oolong osmanthus basque lava cheesecake, but they only had one slice of the matcha cheesecake left so I decided to give it a chance. The worker pulled out the box from under the counter after I paid. For $16 + tax, it was a very small slice. It's a tiny space with few small tables/stools inside and outside, so we sat at a wobbly table in the corner. As something called a matcha basque lava cheesecake, the only things it delivered based on the name were matcha and cheese. From the first bite to the last, it was overwhelmingly dry and dense. Even the middle portion that should be more undercooked and lava-like was the same dry texture, and the cream on top did not help much at all. It felt like eating a block of dry cream cheese, and the only flavor that came through was the earthy taste of culinary-grade matcha. There was no caramelized flavor from the crust like a normal basque cheesecake, which could have been due to the overpowering matcha and cheese masking it. I am thankful afterwards that the piece was small because it was so dense and heavy. Do yourselves a favor and skip their expensive cheesecakes (if you can even call it that) because whatever I paid for was not worth it.

Quick dessert stop at Ando. I got the popular option - Basque oolong cheesecake. It came in a cute box..the presentation was minimal but cool. The girl at the counter took it out from somewhere below the register and surprised me with it ready to go. I went to the park to enjoy it. It was really good! A little dry as Basque cheesecake tends to be so definitely need to enjoy with a hot drink. The cream on top is light and fluffy. I'd definitely want to try more from Ando! Yum

Delicious pastry shop with Asian inspired flavors. Yuzu lemon cheesecake didn't feel too heavy and was delicious Oolong pana cotta was amazing and the tea flavoring was apparent. I really liked it

This place is very tiny. Around 4-5 spots of seating. Was late and we came to try some dessert but the coffee aroma smelled really good. Unsure how big the kitchen is in the back, but we got the earl gray egg tarts. Definitely a cute place to stop by and pick up

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
