@foodie_starry Just discovered Tart-Da in Jersey City, and I'm obsessed! Their tarts come in six delicious flavors, but the Uji Matcha Tart stands out with its rich flavor compared to the subtler Black Sesame Tart. For puddings, I went with the Pistachio Oolong--what a treat! A perfect blend of oolong tea base, pistachio paste, and generous chunks of pistachios. Also tried the Black Sesame and Matcha Jasmine Puddings, both a delight. And if you're looking for a thoughtful gift or a party treat, their chocolates are a must-try. Choose from the luxurious Dubai series with options like Pistachio, Black Sesame, and Hazelnut, or the classic varieties including Almond, Cashew, and Macadamia. The tarts are perfect for an afternoon tea break, especially if paired with a good cup of tea--freshly made daily, best enjoyed on the day of purchase. The puddings and chocolates are great for gifting, and they can be stored in the fridge for a week. Good news for tart lovers: Tart-Da is now open daily, not just on weekends. Go treat yourself to these heavenly desserts--absolutely delicious!

Pistachio Tart and Matcha Basque Cheesecake

Tart-Da offers perfectly portioned pick-me ups. The desserts offer more in flavor than sugar. The matcha basque cheesecake used an intense portion of matcha, balancing the fat from the cream cheese with the earthy flavor from the matcha. The pistachio tart was light and a perfect single portion. The location is in a tiny space with a window cold display case. They also keep more desserts in the back, so don't fret if it looks like they are running out. Although the staff was very busy, they were friendly and helped to guide us as half of the space and self-service POS systems are for the tea shop. You have to order the desserts at the counter. The prices are reasonable for the quality. My friend said the mochi was decadent and since she wolfed it down, I'll probably check it out next time I'm in the area. They have an excellent deal of 6 tarts for something like $25. This would be a perfect option to bring to a small gathering or if you want to try one of each!

Holding it or tasting it gives a substantial, high-quality feel. However, the consequence is that even the staff struggles to scoop it out with their spherical ice cream scoops, let alone the disposable plastic spoons provided to customers. Green Tea: The highest praise Chinese people can give for desserts--not sweet--and it truly tastes like green tea, not matcha. The refreshing bitterness was incredibly pure, even bordering on slightly bitter, which is extremely rare in the US. Vanilla Peanut Butter: Very milky, but extremely salty, like eating peanut butter spread on bread. The vanilla flavor was almost completely masked. Coconut & Cream: I've always trusted American coconut ice cream, but this time it was a bit of a disappointment. The cream completely overshadowed the coconut, so much so that it took me a long time to recall what flavor I actually ordered. Ube: One bite brought back childhood memories, exactly the same as the ube flavor Wuyang五羊 ice cream cone. It was so touching I didn't order this in the end since I want to try more flavors as possible. I don't know why, but ube flavor seems to be gradually fading in China... Blueberry Cheesecake: The initial taste was a rich, sweet cream, with a refreshing hint of blueberry tartness in the aftertaste. It's pretty good, but honestly, it's not particularly outstanding. Banana Peanut Butter Chunk: The staff recommended this signature dish, and it once again made me realize how subjective taste can be... It's on the sweeter and saltier side, with a very strong flavor, but more importantly, it has a noticeable artificial banana flavor.

There's so many yummy flavors - it's hard to choose! I ultimately went with the rocky road (my classic favorite) and the cheesecake with rainbow sprinkles (because why not!?) and enjoyed every bite! I think the rocky road could've used more marshmallows but that's my personal preference for my favorite childhood fave ice cream. Service was great and allow you to try a couple flavors if you're unsure which is great as not all ice cream spots makes the flavors the same! It's only street parking so get ready to search for that when you come to visit - but it's worth it! And read street signs so you don't get towed or ticketed.

I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. I only tiny, minuscule complaint I have about this place is the lack of signage for the pastries and cakes. It would be nice to know what I'm looking at without having the ask. Absolutely zero gatekeeping here. Please everyone keep patronizing this establishment. I need this place to continue to exist in my hood.

So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. I'll continue to stick with the cakes and croissants for desert and make sure it's fresh!
