Cakes were delicious, but we came for chocolate chip cookies and even waited for them to be made, and they were never baked. The worker kept telling everyone who came by that they would be ready in 20-30 mins, so we actually waited inside about half an hour and didn't get any. I kept seeing Petit Chou all over Instagram so I absolutely had to try it and I'm so glad I did! I went early-ish on a Monday morning and was the only customer there which was nice. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich (which they warm up for you), and the famous chocolate chip cookie. Both items were super good. The breakfast sandwich was honestly like anything I've had before. Loved the texture and just really tasty. The cookie was legit and I loved that it was thick! Probably one of the most affordable bakeries so far I've been in NY! Staff were incredible nice and toke the time to answer my question/went over the differ pastries they had/specials! I'm usually not big on eclair but The pistachio looked delicious and didn't disappoint! The cinnamon roll was huge with a generous frosting( a bit too much for me) were soft/fluffy but overly sweet with the frosting so I removed a good amount for my liking The chocolate croissant wasn't as flaky more in the bready side but my the chocolate overload filling was delicious but a bit too much! The almond croissant was my fav -flaky chewy at the same time buttery but not overly (the way I like it) with generous almond paste topping ! Worth a stop while in NY for your tasting ! read more

Stopped by for a quick sweet bite after a late lunch one weekend. It's a small pastry shop with a few stools and two high counters where you can enjoy your treat. Loved the way the desserts were displayed--everything looked beautiful and tempting. I tried the tiramisu cream puff. It was really good overall--I liked the texture, the flavor, and the presentation. The only thing that didn't quite work for me was the center filling they called "coffee jam." To me, it tasted more like an overly sweet caramel and didn't match the coffee-forward flavor I was expecting. If the chef or anyone from the team is reading--just a small suggestion from a coffee and tiramisu lover: if the center had a deeper coffee flavor and a bit of that pleasant bitter edge, it would take this dessert to the next level. Been craving a cinnamon bun for months, and FINALLY got my hands on one now that I'm done with my wedding diet. My husband and I swung by at about 11:30am on a Sunday and were pleased to see cinnamon rolls still well in stock. We ordered one along with a pistachio eclair, and munched the pistachio eclair while they heated up the cinnamon bun. Pistachio eclair had amazing flavor and texture. I came here on a Saturday for the cinnamon roll which I can confirm was amazing. There wasn't no line and the staff was really nice. The place has a few bar seats so you can sit there and eat, it's really warm and bright so not a bad idea if you have time. I visited Petit Chou on a Tuesday around lunch time. The cases were fully stocked with many delicious looking pastries. I had come for a chocolate chip cookie and a macaron. The chocolate chip cookie was absolute perfection. The mixture of milk and dark chocolate along with the soft center was everything I wanted. I tried the chocolate and the pistachio and I fell in love with the decadent stuffed filling of the chocolate eclair, stuffed to the brim and amazing texture and not too sweet. Perfectly baked. These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite bakeries in New York. Their special seasonal items are super creative and they're always bringing out something new to jazz things up and keep you on your toes. Each pastry is gonna be anywhere from 9-12 bucks but it is always LOAAAADED with filling which I greatly appreciate, so you feel like you're getting your money's worth. I would definitely come before 11/12 because it starts to get a bit busy at that time and special items do sell out if you come in the afternoon! I have called to hold a couple items before and they do so for 30 min at most. There's a gentleman who works there who's very sweet and is always so helpful and kind. Their hazelnut brownie danish was spilling hazelnut cream and the danish itself was crispy and flaky. Their brownie is melt in your mouth smooth which I absolutely love. I have no idea how they manage it. Their biscoff cheesecake had the lightest taste of biscoff, nothing overpowering and a slight tartness to it which made for the perfect balance. It was a soft smooth and creamy cheesecake, kind of like Eileen's! I missed their tiramisu cream puff last time so I will be eagerly awaiting its return (or until they drop something else equally exciting). This is for a takeout order I finally ordered from petit chou which I have been wanting to try for quite some time. I tried the croissant sandwich and the cinnamon roll. The croissant sandwich was very goos and came with a nice sauce for dipping. The sandwich overall tastes exactly as you would imagine, an elevated BEC. Certainly worth an occasional splurge. The star of the show, however was the cinnamon roll. Delivered to me at room temperature, it was still incredibly soft and chewy. It achieves the cinnabon taste and texture we're all admittedly look for. I haven't had a ton of cinnamon rolls around the city beyond Sunday morning and Ole + Steen but this one is absolutely the winner. read more

I've eaten loads of baked goods in the East Village area Petit Chou, is by far better than most!! Better than La Cabra, better than Le Fournil, and better than La La Bake shop!! Crunchy layered cronut pastries. Gigantic cinnamon buns. Excellent chocolate croissants. Creamy fillings in any of them. I haven't had such good pasties in the city since I visited Paris a couple of years ago. Petit Chou is definitely an underdog, and a jam. The head chef's executions on the éclairs are bold and delicious. The store is not busy but it is filled with excellent pastry goodness. The guy that serves in the front is friendly and sweet as the bake goods. I would come here just to order the sandwich, but they also have lovely pastries and cakes. I've heard great things about this place so I was very excited to finally try it out! Got the pistachio eclair and salted caramel eclair. Both eclairs were absolutely delicious with creamy fillings. Space inside is pretty small, but they do have some seats and a table ledge if you want to eat inside. I chose to eat my eclairs inside and they gave me a knife and fork, which I appreciated. Wonderful pastries here at Petit Chou!! Who'd think that such an unassuming storefront and tiny interior holds creative and absolutely delicious treats?! A friend recommended this place to me, so I am going to pass it on and recommend it to you all. The pastries are humongous and decadent. This makes it actually very hard to choose because you kinda have to fight to eat more than one full pastry here. Solution: bring a friend! I was alone that day, so I did have to choose (bummer, but may have been for the best lol). I ended up choosing the guava cheesecake danish, and it was fantastic. Firstly, the pastry dough is incredible. Crisp and flaky, but not so much so that it's shattering absolutely everywhere. Buttery yet still light. After tasting the dough alone, I knew that the other things would be bomb. Like, they have a breakfast sandwich where the buns are made of this dough. What. Secondly, the fillings were delicious and very fresh! Combined with the dough, it was a great time. I'll say I wish they had a little less filling on this one. There were parts where I was getting very little dough and a lot of filling, which may be up some people's alleys, but I gotta have that pastry. When I am back in NYC, I will have to come again. They have specials every weekend, and the one that was calling me was the chocolate hazelnut pan suisse. It looked divine. But it was also the size of a brick and I knew I couldn't take it down on my own that day. That's not super relevant, but this is just to say they have a lot of great things, including specials, and they are, again, huge and decadent. Well, the people on the internet were right because this croissandwich was absolutely delicious. Some people online complained that it was kind of bland and I agree since it did taste better when you dip the sandwich in the sauce. If someone gets you a pastry/dessert from here, they really love you- their desserts are to die for! They are delicious and also a delight for the eyes. While the store is small, their displays are always packed with colorful and enticing desserts. Make sure to check for the seasonal pastries (like right now, they have this unreal Pumpkin Spice Danish that has a huge dollop of pumpkin cream... in the summer they had a Guava/Passionfruit dessert that was AMAZING.) I'm also a huge fan of the Banana Cream Danish, which is packed with slices of banana and cream. The desserts here are a bit on the expensive side, but again, totally worth it. Petit Chou is officially my new favorite bakery in NYC. Too bad it's no where near where I live. Ha!  My friend has been buzzing about their cinammon rolls for quite sometime and one day, this week, I stopped in hoping to grab it... only to learn they'd sold out for the day. The cashier saw the look of dispair on my face and kindly recommended the monkey bread instead. I'm so glad I listened. It was warm and gooey and ridiculously good... the kind of treat that makes you take your time with every bite. But the whole time, I couldn't stop thinking about that cinnamon roll I had missed. So, the next day, I returned again, this time a little bit earlier, but mainly just to get one. And let me tell you: it was the best cinnamon roll I'd ever tasted (no cap -- not sure if the kids are still saying that ha!) Perfectly soft, buttery, and sweet-but not too sweet. This chocolate chip cookie is one of the more trendy and famous in the city and it was definitley good. Very buttery almost to a fault and super gooey on the inside and moist and ever so slightly crunchy on the outside.
