Chocolate caramel cake
Taylor S.

I've been to Petit Chou a couple of times now. The chocolate and caramel cake is one of the best cakes I've ever had. I couldn't recommend it more. The chocolate chip cookie is also one of my favorites in the city. I can't wait to try more from this bakery!

Probably one of the most affordable bakeries so far I've been in NY! Staff were incredible nice and toke the time to answer my question/went over the differ pastries they had/specials! I'm usually not big on eclair but The pistachio looked delicious and didn't disappoint! The cinnamon roll was huge with a generous frosting( a bit too much for me) were soft/fluffy but overly sweet with the frosting so I removed a good amount for my liking The chocolate croissant wasn't as flaky more in the bready side but my the chocolate overload filling was delicious but a bit too much! The almond croissant was my fav -flaky chewy at the same time buttery but not overly (the way I like it) with generous almond paste topping ! Worth a stop while in NY for your tasting !

Love this spot. Tried the breakfast sandwich for the first time today. They heated it up for me and gave me a sauce on the side that appeared to be some sort of spicy aioli. Bread was super flakey on top. Overall a nice combo heated up with the sauce. This is my neighborhood preferred bakery - can't recommend it enough. Will be back.

I kept seeing Petit Chou all over Instagram so I absolutely had to try it and I'm so glad I did! I went early-ish on a Monday morning and was the only customer there which was nice. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich (which they warm up for you), and the famous chocolate chip cookie. Both items were super good. The breakfast sandwich was honestly like anything I've had before. Loved the texture and just really tasty. The cookie was legit and I loved that it was thick! I ate it like 6 hours after I bought it and it was still super soft and the chocolate was still melty inside.

I came here on a Saturday for the cinnamon roll which I can confirm was amazing. There wasn't no line and the staff was really nice. The place has a few bar seats so you can sit there and eat, it's really warm and bright so not a bad idea if you have time. I haven't tried anything else but based on my one visit I would highly recommend.

Loved the Passionfruit Cheesecake puff and the mango. Both weren't too sweet and light/ airy. The Passionfruit filling/ jam was amazing! Sweet cashier and I was greeted as soon as I walked in. It's not a big place more like a grab and go situation but the pastries surpassed my expectations. I can't wait to go back!

Are you passionate about pistachios? I am and at Petit Chou there is a pistachio éclair ($8) that is simply divine. Studded with a profusion of the tasty nuts, this pastry also has pistachio cream inside making each bite heavenly. I ate this last Friday. It's best to wait a few minutes to let it soften a bit before starting to eat. When I truly enjoy something I tend to eat slowly savoring each bite even though I know I may have it again.

WHEN: Sat @7:30pm As we walked and explored more of the area after dinner, we recognized this being one of the spots on our list for cookies. But since it was already late in the day and they had none, we decided to go with: BANANA CAKE - $12 This banana bread with toffee shell was pretty good! It was pretty sweet so we were not able to finish it all. There's not much seating but a few standing counters to have your sweet treats. Also, I appreciate there being a share of what these desserts look like on the inside

Stopped by for a quick sweet bite after a late lunch one weekend. It's a small pastry shop with a few stools and two high counters where you can enjoy your treat. Loved the way the desserts were displayed--everything looked beautiful and tempting. I tried the tiramisu cream puff. It was really good overall--I liked the texture, the flavor, and the presentation. The only thing that didn't quite work for me was the center filling they called "coffee jam." To me, it tasted more like an overly sweet caramel and didn't match the coffee-forward flavor I was expecting. If the chef or anyone from the team is reading--just a small suggestion from a coffee and tiramisu lover: if the center had a deeper coffee flavor and a bit of that pleasant bitter edge, it would take this dessert to the next level. At $8, it felt well priced for the quality. We'll definitely be back to try more of their creations!

Cinnamon bun

Been craving a cinnamon bun for months, and FINALLY got my hands on one now that I'm done with my wedding diet. My husband and I swung by at about 11:30am on a Sunday and were pleased to see cinnamon rolls still well in stock. We ordered one along with a pistachio eclair, and munched the pistachio eclair while they heated up the cinnamon bun. Pistachio eclair had amazing flavor and texture. The pistachio cream was delicious and the candied pistachios on top added a great layer of crunch and flavor. Cinnamon bun.. omg.. it was so good. Gooey and perfectly chewy. Sweet, but not excessively. Understand why it's on so many "best cinnamon rolls in nyc" list. Would 10000000% get again!!!

Valentines special

Everything ive tried from here is fresh and delicious. Really amazing service friendly informative. The shop is small and cozy has a few seats. The best cheesecake pastries Ive ever tried. Valentine's specials were great the blueberry cheesecake tart was perfect, cookie butter cheesecake was so delicious I got it for mt sister and when I tasted it I wanted one for myself. Mom loves the guava cheesecake and the snickers cake was another highly rated one. Anything you get is bound to be delicious 10 out 10 recommend.

These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite bakeries in New York. Their special seasonal items are super creative and they're always bringing out something new to jazz things up and keep you on your toes. Each pastry is gonna be anywhere from 9-12 bucks but it is always LOAAAADED with filling which I greatly appreciate, so you feel like you're getting your money's worth. I would definitely come before 11/12 because it starts to get a bit busy at that time and special items do sell out if you come in the afternoon! I have called to hold a couple items before and they do so for 30 min at most. There's a gentleman who works there who's very sweet and is always so helpful and kind. Their hazelnut brownie danish was spilling hazelnut cream and the danish itself was crispy and flaky. Their brownie is melt in your mouth smooth which I absolutely love. I have no idea how they manage it. Their biscoff cheesecake had the lightest taste of biscoff, nothing overpowering and a slight tartness to it which made for the perfect balance. It was a soft smooth and creamy cheesecake, kind of like Eileen's! I missed their tiramisu cream puff last time so I will be eagerly awaiting its return (or until they drop something else equally exciting). Also a humble request is please do an egg and cheese croissant sandwich because I can't have bacon :(

Egg and Cheese Quiche

Otherworldly sweet and savory pastries -- none of them were skimpy with the size or toppings. My bf, his brother, and I had them for breakfast delivery a few weeks ago and I must go to try them in person ASAP. Ordered: Double Chocolate Croissant + Raspberry Cheesecake Danish + Guava Cheesecake Danish + Chocolate Chip Cookie + Scallion Cream Cheese Danish + Ham and Cheese Croissant for the brother since he eats meat + 2 Egg and Cheese Quiches. we're some chunkuses fr The chocolate-filled croissant was especially heavenly and I thought about it for 3 straight days after first trying it. Very reasonable prices, so many options to choose from (eclairs, danishes, croissants, cream puffs, mini and 8" whole cakes, etc). Also got 2 Breakfast Croissandwichs. Accidentally left the bacon on when ordering but it was easy to remove once noticed. WAY too much butter in/on these, though. So gluttonous and massive. Not sure how you eat a whole one without taking a 3hr nap. I ate half which is why my nap was only like 1.5 hours long hehe Love that the website is so detailed and includes a photo of almost every offering. They have a beautiful catering menu, too.

Is there a way to ship orders from this place? I can't visit NY during the shelter in place but I would love the support it from Cali!

I was pleasantly surprised by how rich and nutty all the black sesame flavors were, and that's high praise coming from me because I grew up eating a lot of black sesame desserts in Asia. *Black Sesame Mochi Cake $18.99 I got this mini whole cake for my birthday. Perfect size for a small household (around 3 to 4 slices). I just wish the chiffon had a stronger black sesame flavor, and I would've loved even more mochi and black sesame lava inside. *Black Sesame Puff Square $6.95 HUGE and such a good value for the size. It's a croissant cube with black sesame butter swirled all throughout the loaf. The inside pulled apart easily like fluffy milk bread, while the outside stayed crispy and buttery like a croissant. I could not stop tearing off piece after piece. *Black Sesame Latte $6.99 The black sesame latte was SO GOOD I got it twice in one week. It had this super nutty black sesame cream foam over a black sesame milk base, and I could actually taste both the rich sesame flavor and the coffee.

I ordered the orange, mango and mushroom suisse. There was a bit of a wait for the orders but it wasn't too bad. The cakes were secure in mini boxes and everything was packed into a nice paper tote bag for take out. The desserts were very delicate upon first glance but also easy to break apart (so things got a bit messy). The orange dessert had a more mellow and lighter flavor compared to the mango one. It had a orange mandarin jam center covered with a vanilla cream layer. I didn't really care too much for the chocolate rice crisp bottom layer. The leaves were maybe peppermint though if it was mint then that would make the whole dish edible. The mango dessert was sweeter than the orange one. The mango jam filling was sweet and had a few pieces of mango that were a bit sour but didn't take away from the overall sweet mango flavor. The cream covering the jam must've also been mango flavored. I really liked the mushroom suisse! I reheated it in the microwave for a bit before eating it. I loved the crispy exterior as it contrasted well with the softness of the puff pastry middle. The mushroom filling was also tasty as it reminded me a bit of cream of mushroom soup. I'll be giving their other savory pastries a try during my next visit. FYI, if posting on socials for the complimentary pastry, do so before ordering.

I was initially lured in by the good Yelp reviews. I liked that I could do everything online, I had a particular vision for what I wanted my birthday cake to look like and they communicated with me via email that could make my vision come true. I had a birthday celebration at a restaurant, which I asked The Evercake to have delivered directly to the restaurant. The delivery was smooth and the restaurant had the cake before I even got there. The cake was very cute and did look like what I had pictured. But...what I majorly disliked was the actual taste of the cake and being misled about what the contents of the cake would be. I selected the strawberry shortcake option for my cake and what I got was not what I thought it would be. I think it's quite normal for a strawberry shortcake to have like...real strawberries in between the layers. My cake didn't really have that, and if it did it was hidden in all the strawberry jam that there instead. I was not a fan of the cake texture too and the cream outside of the cake. Overall I felt so sad that I was feeding this to my friends and I told them that they didn't have to finish it because I wasn't going to either. So embarrassing :( Would you believe that this flop of a cake was nearly $200? And that's after the 10% coupon. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it wasn't completely bad, but the cake not tasting good was the biggest thing for me. I would have preferred it the other way around at least, like if the service was so bad but the cake tasted amazing, but unfortunately that was not the case for me. After digging through the reviews some more, I found that this happened to another customer as well. I wish I had seen their review before ordering a "strawberry" shortcake from here lol dang

If you're a sucker for orange chocolate treats like I am, they brought the popular Mont Blanc coffee from Australia to NYC, and even turned it into a pain au chocolat version! Stuffed with a THICK layer of espresso brownie batter. The orange coffee whipped cream plus orange zest made the bitter and citrusy flavors work so well together. Still sad they sold out of the Mont Blanc drink that day... *Ramp and Leek Croissant $8.5* While their sweet pastries get all the hype, don't sleep on this savory croissant. The ramp and leek cream cheese was so good I wish they sold it separately. The croissant itself was very buttery and crispy. *Milk and Honey Sticky Bun Croissant $9.5 The milk and burnt honey crème filling was super light and overflowing. Sure, if you like croissants. I'll discuss why in further detail. My Disappointment From Bakehouse: If you use other cultures' flavors I would assume some appreciation and recognition at the very least. The ube is passable at best, while the pandan was off tasting. I can understand the inspiration the co-founders of Supermoon Bakehouse get for their flavors since they're both Australian, but the execution comes off very insincere. As if to only place an item on the menu just for the sake of shock value. It's very upsetting seeing a successful bakery business needlessly hop on a hot trend for the sole purposing of capitalizing on it. Completely removing the history of the flavors, showing complete lack of appreciation. Those trying southeast Asian flavors for their first time, they'll be satisfied because they don't know what they should expect. White people stealing things and making it their own again cause "it's the cool thing now" without acknowledging anything; a tale as old as time I guess. You can take the flavors, acknowledge it. And at the very least, make it taste good. Ube and pandan tasted like a powder from a bag.
