Today I came in for a little snack after lunch and I had the pineapple cake for 2$ that I regret not getting four more. It was delicious and would've loved to have another one with a tea later. I also got a chocolate sponge cake roll for 6$ that was delish. We had four slices back home between the whole family and I still have a whole half of cake left. The best thing I got was this soft bread with scallion cheese and sausage. The bread was pillowy and sweet and it was contrasted by the cheese and scallion on top. The sausage was giving hot dog but in a really delicious way. Best part is it was only 2.50$. We got the Taro crisp (they also have other flavors like green tea, salted egg etc.) which was packed to the brim with taro paste. The taro filling here is slightly sweeter other nearby places, has a date/red bean flavor profile but it is perfect for someone who likes mildly sweet desserts. This bakery is very small and most of the pastries are self serve and prepackaged so you can grab it yourself and put it on a tray. I immediately got the Taiwanese pineapple bun for $2.10 that looked really unique compared to other Chinese pineapple buns. The Taiwanese version doesn't have much pineapple coated on top of the bun. It tasted really good though! Love the pineapple flakes. I lick all the crumbs off the wrapping and make sure none are in the packaging! read more

Stopped by to get this pudding with strawberry popping boba and it was delicious. The pudding was not so sweet but when eaten with the boba made it delicious and meld perfectly. I also got a mango pudding, which was also amazing. It had crisp and fresh mango pieces in a mango puree than when well with the not so sweet pudding. The staff was friendly and you can sit there and eat. The place was clean and everything looked fresh. I will have to return and get the pudding again. read more

I've tried several items from Audrey Bakery, and the unique taro mochi bun was my favorite. I enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take a photo! I prefer desserts on the less sweet side, so the chocolate cake with mango in the photo was a bit too sweet for me, even one small bite was overwhelming. Really felt at home and not out of place. I at times get very over whelmed at all the items in bakeries and making sure you have cash is something else I get nervous over. I really love the option of cash or tap and pay. Cards are still a thing and I'm so glad they have all options of payment. I usually buy $15or more in cakes, pork bun, coffee, hot dog scallion bun, coconut custard and dried pork bun. It's hard to choose. The pork bun was so light and yummy. I'm allergic to a lot like sesame oil. But I got no reaction to anything here. The store is super adorable and I'm so glad my mom took me now I'll take my Daughters. My granny and Mom go always. This store open a few days and and it's been busy with business. Bake goods sell out fast but are restocked pretty often. They have a variety of goods from hot dog buns to Hokkaido buns. This is one of my favorite bakeries among the dozens that exist in Chinatown. Always fresh and really tasty bakery goods. Their cakes are awesome. So glad to see a second location opened last month right on Canal Street. It isn't as large as the one on Chatham Square but still has a wide range of food items from buns to sandwiches to cakes plus drinks and more. It only has a small table by the entrance with two stools. Good if you are just grabbing things to go. The healthy mixed nut bun is my staple. Lots of nuts which give it the crunchiness that I love and it's a huge one. It's also not as greasy as many other ones where they use lard. read more

Very solid gem tucked away on Canal that provides sublime baked goods at very reasonable prices. We got a green tea and mango bake and it was very solid with the perfect ratio of cake to light whipped cream and embedded with fresh, bite sized mango pieces. The cake itself was light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. They also have a solid selection of miniature pastries like tarts, custards, and swiss rolls, along with individual cake slices and entire Napoleon cakes for $15. Bad service, bad attitude. Staff refused to put a bun into a bag that fits. She tried to squish it in a tiny bag. Then when asked for a larger bag refused any bag. This woman needs a thorough training on how to be a human and customer service after that. read more

I think this opens up pretty recently. I will give it a try on making a birthday cake and I wasn't wrong. The cashier in the front is super helpful because I am the only one there at the moment and the place looks like a self help bakery. You pick your favorite bread or cake and cash out at the front. I saw a lot of great design on cake here on the wall and a booklet as well. Sawing someone a picture of what I want and end up getting exactly as is, this only happens in Chinatown. Also that within 3 hours. You can't get that in much place in NYC. with a quick calculation, the price me pretty reasonably for a 6' inch custom cake with 2 flavors and filling. Over all appreciate the quick help and the cake is amazing according to the one who ate it. read more

I don't like leaving below 3-star reviews, especially with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, but if you're not going to make or serve certain drinks, at least remove them off the menu. Yes, the menu looks nice, but either cover the unavailable options (with a sheet of paper or something) or put a sign somewhere in the store indicating that those drinks are not available. Is that so hard? My sister stopped by here today to grab some drinks for the two of us, while I ran to the bank. Asked for a strawberry smoothie... no smoothies. Asked for a strawberry-flavored bubble tea... no flavored bubble teas. My sister was told they only serve the original-flavored black bubble milk tea when the menu clearly lists all these awesome flavors (strawberry, peach, mango, taro, passion fruit, honeydew, etc.). What's up with that? There's no way they ran out of every single flavor all in one day. We ended up getting a honey lemon for my sister and an original-flavored black bubble milk tea for myself. Drinks were decent, but more options (as advertised) would have been even better. read more

Even though we live in NC, every time a family member heads to NYC and comes back, we've brought the napoleon cake. It's been ~3 times so far, and it's wonderful every time. It's a great, relatively affordable cake that's easy to finish because it's delicious, light, and not too sweet. read more

This bakery has the best sponge cake I've had so far! This customized cake was full of vanilla fragrant, and the fruits in it were super fresh. The texture of the sponge cake and the whip cream was super light and airy. The cost of the cake was above average, but it was totally worth it! The toppings on top of the cake were purchased on my own, but the rest was from the bakery! There is a selection of flavors and whip cream sandwiched topping that you can choose from. The Japanese roll is awesome!! The roll itself a rolled bun type of pastry with the crunchy stuff on top of a Chinese pineapple bun-but Audrey's version. Inside you'll find: egg, lettuce, pickles, Japanese mayo, some kind of deli meat. Then to top it off: pork floss! It's a hefty bun. I bought four cakes and each cake is packaged in a plastic container. The cake has to put sideway in order to fit in the plastic container. I felt like I was buying a Chinese bun in Chinatown and the presentation of the cake looks real bad. Let's talk about the taste. People has been saying how good the cake tastes. I have to say these are few of the worst cakes I ever had. I got a Mango cheese cake. It tastes bland and can't even taste the mango. Don't order any tiramisu which isn't a tirsmisu, just taste bad. The green tea is ok. The one which is acceptable is mango mousse. Sorry, I would never go back there to buy any cakes. read more

I'm on a hunt to re-create some bao favorites of my boyfriend's parents, and I decided to stop by Audrey's bakery for some inspiration. While their store is cute, and their workers are friendly, the breads are a bit disappointing. The black sesame bao has an eye-catching presentation, but is rather dry and bland with the black-sesame crumble having no distinguishable taste or remarkable texture. The green tea bao has a very artificial taste, and the vibrant green color is very fake. I came back to try the pork floss bao since I'm most interested to recreate this since it's my boyfriend's mom's favorite, but the one here is very lacking. The milk bread base is super dry, there's sparse amounts of floss on top, and also only a thin layer of mayonnaise. I hate to compare, and I really had no relative standard before this week...but I tried Tai Pan's pork floss bao a few days ago, and now I understand what makes the difference between an average and excellent bao. This place has very pretty cakes and savory breads, but in terms of the sweet ones I've tried, I really don't like the taste/texture/dryness. read more
