Yummi Japan is a good budget option but was not what we were looking for taste. We were looking for a pick up order on our way home, and we were craving Japanese cuisine. We placed an online order and came to pick up, the cashier was very soft spoken and stand offish or maybe she was very shy so I couldn't quite hear what she was saying. Our food was made on time and ready for pick up. They did not offer any sauces, chopsticks, and napkins. The food we ordered was mostly good! My only nitpick is the rice for the sushi tasted different than usual sushi rice and wasn't sticking like usual sushi rice. But the inside of the sushi was fresh and delicious! Food is top notch and will always fill you up. They certainly do not ration portions. Price is super cheap compared to other Japanese restaurants. A whole family of 5 costed less than 40 bucks. Best hibachi in the area. I've tried many other hibachi places and none compare to Yummi Japan. Very large food portions as well.

They hid BURNT SCALLOPS at the bottom of my plate!! If I lived close by I would have went back to get a different plate but that would still be at my own inconvenience! It sucks even though you check your food in the car to be sure it is fine, you don't dig into the food because they will do you like this. A paying customer. Unfortunately I gave this place 3 chances.... First time was ok but awesome. The steamed dumplings were amazing. The rest of the food was OK. Second time....complete fail. They changed the dumplings and everything was dry and seemed like it had been sitting around for a while. 3rd time not the charm.....asked for med rare steak. Got way wayyy overdone. I'm not sure what yummi means in Japanese, but it doesn't mean what it means in English. I had a salmon avocado roll, which you can't screw up, and they didn't. It was simple and fresh. Thumbs up. Then, the main course, hibachi steak and shrimp. I think they used cow toe nails for the cut of beef. Everything had zero taste. First time trying YUMMI Japan today since my favorite Hubachi restaurant apparently has closed down.Tge previous reviews were kinda' all over the place....so I didn't know what to expect. I called in the order and it was ready upon arrival. It was warm and tasted fresh. I got the shrimp and steak combo. The rice was a large portion that filled the large compartment in the takeout tray. Reasonable portion of large shrimp that appeared to have been deveined, although I did find one that was questionable. Didn't eat that one! Then steak had a good flavor...but was a little chewy. The vegetables were good...broccoli, mushrooms , zucchini and onions. The white sauce was a little different that what I was used to...but I don't really know what it should taste like anyway. I'll just say it was white sauce. They only give you one and additional are 35 cents each. Overall...I think I will go back when the urge hits me again. Since I got the miso soup and some other diet since I'm on a diet I'm astonish and perplexed on how the bill was 20 dollars!?!?!? That's barely any compared to the amount of food. Surprisingly good for the price! I ordered steamed pork dumplings (6 for $2.95!) and a Philadelphia Roll ($4.55). I was very pleased with flavor. It's a small counter-style ordering place with food on plastic or styrofoam plates so nothing fancy. But it was very good! read more

Yummi Japan has limited seating, which is fine because it seems designed as more of a take out place. The place is like one of those take out Chinese restaurant, but focuses on Sushi/Hibachi grilled food. I had Hibachi Vegetable and an eel roll. The eel roll tasted a little too fishy for my like, but I wouldn't have guessed this place would have the best sushi. The vegetables were over cooked and soaking is salty liquid. I felt like I needed to gulp down water to prevent from bloating up! This place is cheap and average, which makes it good depending on your mood. read more

I'm a little shocked to read the other reviews that speak highly of the cleanliness of this establishment. In addition to there being gigantic water stains on the ceiling, take a look around the fans because there is dust that is incredibly thick and obvious. Also take a look around the base of the trash can. Gross. The food here has always been mediocre. Worst Japanese ever. I had a bad experience and phoned them I let them know. I will give anyone a second chance. The same thing happened again. But I also ordered the crab roll, the avocad, crab, and celery were all very warm. A typical Japanese takeout. There were a few common sushi rolls. Spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, California, etc. Hibachi, there were choices of shrimp, chicken, steak, scallops and combo of 2 or more. We opted for hibachi shrimp. The shrimp was seasoned well and plump. The veggies were watery and flavorless. The white sauce was bland. The fried rice, I barely touched. It was basically white rice, quickly stir fried with soy sauce, no eggs or diced vegetables. The portion was worth the money but I've had better Japanese takeouts. read more

The food here is excellent. YUMMI Chicken is my favorite dish. The rice and white sauce are always tasty. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a hater. This place is more designed around take out rather than eat in, but they do have a couple tables there. It's cheap take out, and the chicken is white meat with no fat which I love. I'm giving 1 star simply because that is as low as I can go. Stopped in here to grab a quick lunch for my family and I, ordered 4 sushi rolls and a kids meal(chicken bowl). The prices were fair so no issue there. Waiting approx 30 min for a simple order during lunch hours was an issue to me. Also whilst waiting a 2" cockroach fell off the wall onto the table I was waiting at, also noticed by the staff at the register. Staff laughed and apologized, I was not the least bit amused. If I'm running an establishment and something like that happens I would apologize and say your meal is free or half off as a gesture. Yet I still gave this cesspool the benefit of the doubt as it was my first (and last) time stopping in. Originally I planned on dinning in, I decided to eat at my roach free house instead. Upon getting home only about 10 min away we eat our food. The sushi had all the ingredients of real sushi and that's where the similarities end. The rice was poorly made and ingredients were not fresh. You would be far better off buying sushi at the supermarket or a gas station for that matter. The kids bowl was of the same quality as before mentioned sushi. I will never order from here again and I hope this review will save you time and money. Stay far far away. One positive part of my experience was the bottled soda was cold and refreshing... One last note about my experience- I've had quality sushi made by sushi masters in great restaurants. To become a real sushi chef it takes years, apprenticeship under a proven chef ect ect. The "chef" at yummi appeared to be a 19 year old who quite possibly had previous work experience at McDonalds. This place is AMAZING!!!! Literally my favorite restaurant. It's pretty inexpensive, but the food is fantastic. My favorite is the Yummi Chicken. It's a huge platter of chicken, rice, and broccoli for under $10 with the awesome Yummi Sauce. The only thing is that this place is not really a great dining in experience unless you have some really good friends around you that you can go anywhere with. You can never go wrong with hibachi. This place is always hot and fresh and pretty cheap too. My husband and I can get a meal with just one meat and rice with veggies and water for under 20 dollars. This place has really good food!! It's just a little hole in the wall with a few tables, not much curb appeal, but unbelievable food. I truly doubt you will be disappointed. I personaly recommend the steak and scsllop entree. read more
