We popped in after visiting the Funko HQ for boba smoothies, and man, were they refreshing! The boba is the perfect texture, with the right balance of chew and squish. However this Sunday after the Everett farmers market me and my mother stopped in to get some bowls and upon taking our first sips looked at each other and shook our heads. However this time we packed up our soup and took it home to the dogs as the meat was chewy and grainy today when we gave them the leftovers they threw up the meat. It was a bit dry and didn't have that warmth. For me, the bread is the difference between these Vietnamese establishments. Warm, moist, soft is king. In all fairness, it was a to-go-order. The Vietnamese coffee was a tad too strong, which was surprising because it was way too generous with its offering of ice. This establishment is really small and rather uncomfortable to order in. Hence why I did the good old "O3"--Order & Out Option. It's also awkwardly positioned right on the street, people can just stare at you as you eat through the floor the ceiling glass front. I want to say I love this place, but I can't. I ordered #95 which consist of all the beef choices and #9 cold cut sandwich (supposedly the traditional sandwich). Store layout: - A set of stairs leading into the menu wall - Open kitchen with cashier in front of it - Around 5-6 tables Food: - #95 came with tons of noodles, which is great, but the rational of noodle to soup was insane. Beef was on the cheaper side and very discolored (not a good cut) and it was supposed to be "rare steak" which traditionally, it would've been thinly sliced brisket but it wasn't. Soup was missing the flavors of star anise and seems as there was msg. Beef tendon tasted with strange. It reminded me of soap but maybe that's just me since I'm not a huge fan of it. - #9 came with grilled porkchop, a few cubes of "pork roll", barely vinegar-marinated carrots, cilantro, 2 slices of jalapenos and a spread of mayo. I typically have never had the traditional sandwich with grilled porkchop mixed in with cold cuts but maybe it's a different region. Carrots are missing a whole ton of the sour flavors and was cut into thick julienne pieces. Customer Service: - Staff friendliness and attentiveness was on point. They have all the good condiments including real sriracha and the cute little restaurant is very clean. I went here for lunch yesterday and overall it was good! Short review is that I'd go back. I took one star away because the spring roll was unimpressive. It seemed to mostly be the bottom of a romaine lettuce dark where it's yellow. Still fresh but kind of odd. There weren't many noodles in it either. The end product was a slightly limp spring roll. The shrimp inside were plump and snappy, however: like a Karen at a Starbucks before her child's soccer game. Overall I wouldn't get it again. But the sandwich!!! It was so good! I got the barbecue pork and was VERY satisfied. The 9.99 is more than what I'm used to paying for banh no but it was well worth it. The meat was wonderfully seasoned and ABUNDANT! I really and truly love this place. I love banh mi and this is my favorite place to come even though I live a couple cities away. The pork banh mi with an egg is really all I need in life. I also enjoy the spring rolls (although this is one of the few places that doesn't serve them with peanut sauce) and pho, although I am not a huge pho person so I can't really speak to whether it is much better or worse than other places.
