The food at this location was okay, but the service was horrible. Upon entering, the woman was near the drink refrigerator, she noticed me walking in, made eye contact but did not say a word. No hello, welcome, or even an Aloha. She then walked towards the register, at this time I'm viewing the menu above her head. I said I was ready to order and she put her phone down and just stared at me, no, "what can I get you? Or how may I help you?" Nothing. I took the stare as she's ready to take my order. Anyways, I ordered the family meal that comes with 3 proteins of your choice, rice, and Mac salad. All for $45.99, great price. Now, the previous place was called JJ's Hawaiian BBQ and those owners were very friendly and kind. I guess I was expecting the same type of Aloha spirit, being the name and all. Unfortunately, this person did not have an ounce of Aloha in her spirit that day. Sad. The kalua pig was dry, the mac salad bland...not the best service or food from this location. I literally wanted short ribs and bbq beef but couldn't decide-- good thing they had both as an option in one plate (HF6)! The meat was cooked to PERFECTION. They are not incredibly friendly however, they have some of the fastest turnaround times for getting your food I've ever experienced. Not healthy living here. Lol. This stuff is no doubt towards the bottom of the list of actual nutrition based food but damn it's yummy just like the name says. It's shameful to eat if you actually think about your food but again in a pinch it's just fine and tastes delicious. Too bad it's atrocious for our health because I could eat this stuff every week and not get tired of it. They used to be cash only which is always a crazy red flag for me, but lately my wife has been doing the pick up so I don't know for sure if that's still the case. It's not a nice place to eat at. This location used to be JJ Hawaiian BBQ - which was my go to Hawaiian BBQ spot in the area. We noticed today that it has a new name, "Yummy". The decor inside is similar. What changed is the staff and the menu - it's now a more colorful electronic menu. This made me worried about the quality of food from JJ that I was used to. There's definitely less qty in the BBQ Mix The marinate in the BBQ mix is not the same. They're now using different patties for the Loco Moco - which I'm not a fan of. Idk what happened but clearly the new owners dont care that this place is one of the FEW AAPI/hawaiian restaurants in the community cuz they're just letting this place go down bad. Multiple food poisoning warnings on Yelp reviews in less than a year is crazy. Old place used to have decent garlic shrimp served with a minced garlic sauce. I like to order on the website for convenience, and the food is always ready in under 15 minutes. Some of my favorites are the Lau Lau and the chicken combo, however make sure to check your bag if you get katsu, they forget our katsu sauce 80% of the time. Another thing is that they put wayyy too much rice in their Spam musubis- I've visited Hawaii ever since I was a baby and I've never seen this much rice in the musubis. Another downside to the new ownership is the change in menu, they no longer offer Saimin noodle soup, the Hawaiian version of ramen. Overall the food quality and quantity here is very hit or miss, but they're consistently quick at getting your order out. read more

Ordered some food via doordash on the weekend of Dec 16. I ordered a LocaMoco for brunch and ended up food poisoned with a stomach bug and diarrehea for a few days. Writting this now because I just cant bring myself wanting to try this place again after that experience. It's a shame really because I liked their chicken katsu. I love the one in Pittsburg and frequent the one in Antioch but each time I would get it DoorDash since it's a bit far. I was excited that there's finally one closer to home so that I can save on the fees as well as get it faster. The portion size and prices are consistent but the Pittsburg location is still the best for me. My go to is the chicken katsu, but this one isn't as good as the other two locations, some of the chicken pieces are crispier than others and it taste oiler overall. The bbq beef is thinly sliced and tender/flavorful, the fried Island white fish is perfectly fried -- very crispy exterior with moist interior, the galbi ribs are slightly sweet and tasty, the chicken katsu crispy and flavorful (they use chicken thigh meat so it is very moist, not dry). Ordered from here a few months ago, got the worse food poisoning of my life, just two days of liquid forcefully rocketing out of both ends almost non-stop, chunks of cabbage firing out of my nose as my body just tried to expel EVERYTHING, I lost 5 pounds of water weight by the time my ordeal was over. Probably due to improper storage or cross contamination of their macaroni salad since my wife didn't eat any and was fine, whereas I ate both scoops and became the Bellagio fountain doing shows every 12 minutes. Food poisoning was so bad it's made me avoid Hawaiian food as a whole ever since. I used to love chicken katsu but now memories of being turned into human super soaker cause me to act skittish and repulsed at the very idea of it, even at clean restaurants I trust I avoid it out out of the memory of that weekend.
