Wow what a great hole in the wall Thai spot. The pad thai was the best I've had in a while, and the spicy fried rice with chicken was so flavorful. Service was quick, some half booth half table seating with decent amount of seats. It's not the fanciest spot but it's GOOD and the prices are great, it was also really clean inside. Back to our local Thai place. We had the Tom Kha Soup, the fish cake appetizer, the pumpkin curry with chicken and some rice. The soup was great and we appreciated the waiter saying a small would work for two of use. The fish cake appetizer is more of a salad and really good. I enjoy their homemade juices... $7 for small and $10 large. These are sold separately from the menu. They are refreshing. I tried their Tom Yum Soup. Soup was flavorful with lots of chicken and mushroom. I lacked of a tangy, lime flavor. And, they do not offer Asian soup spoons. I don't like using metal spoons for my soup. My husband's favorite dish is the Durnken Noodles or Pad Kee Mao. Thick noodles with basil sauce. We also enjoy their yellow curry. We've gotten food to go from Mai Thai several times now. Every time it was been delicious. Ready in the time they say, hot, and full of flavor. Easy to call in and order ahead, but also pretty quick if you stop in to put an order for takeout. Inside is nice and would be good for dining in as well, but since it's so close to home it's always my takeout choice. read more

There are plenty of Thai restaurants in this area and I am excited to try all of them! This is the first in the area I am trying. I was craving Pad see eww with beef and chicken satay. I did not have a menu with me and ordering as I was driving,darn if I knew they had stuffed chicken wings I would have ordered that too! Not many places have the stuffed angel wings and when you can get them, you should try them! Not everyone does it well either, so you just have to try it! The pad see eww did not have the hint of sweetness I often have with other pad see eww. This was more using the dark soy sauce (which has a distinct taste) so more salty dry kind. I skipped the eggs which I personally do not like in my pad see eww. This was bland other than the salty taste-good with broccoli in it and carrots. I suspect a bit too much dark soy sauce was put into the dish per the taste. It was still good enough to satisfy my craving though. Chicken satay was dried out-because it is thinly cut, it can dry out faster when cooked so a fine balancing act. The peanut sauce was good but very thick and gloppy(is that a word-lol? Like gelatinous like.) and not a creamy smooth texture that I usually like or make. Cucumber salad served as an accompaniment was good and refreshing. Overall it was okay-it will do,but not the best, just okay. I might come back after trying all the Thai restaurants in the area just to try the stuffed wings! read more

I have been frequenting this spot ever since discovering it a few years ago. A true hidden gem! The food is consistently fresh and tasty. My favorites include the fresh spring rolls and pad thai. I usually come here to get the lunch special, the portion size is pretty large and reasonably priced. The service is usually pretty fast even on busier days. This may be my favorite thai spot in the East Bay! It's hard to find a place that keeps the quality of their food consistent and Mai Thai does just that! read more

This is the type of hole in the wall you want to write about, while you're still enjoying your meal BECAUSE every bite just tastes soo good and consistency with every flavor. I moved here last year, but I've been in the area for 3+ years now. I could not even try another Thai place out here cause the one I love (thought I couldn't replace is in SF!) so we were super hesitant about bringing me here and I was hopeful without reading reviews, cause he was craving pad see ew! I put him on since that was the only thing he ate. This place gives you so much flavor in their entrees. The plates come out so full, smells sooooo good and tastes so fresh. I'm drooling over every bite I had. I loved it in here so much. I was enjoying my food and not once did they rush us, the place was getting packed, but everyone that served us, and the manager (possibly) always asked if we're okay and needed anything. They had people offering to-go, coming in to get seated, and waiting outside. A true hole in the wall but such a diamond in the rough. Absolutely loved their customer service, everyone had a smile and was always patient and helped with ordering if needed. Anyway, the food we ordered 10/10 The appetizer platter (2 of almost everything) They put two of their best on the plate. $13~ 10/10 Roti with curry sauce $10 Nice and crispy, soft and chewy on the inside. Called in an order of spring rolls shrimp spring rolls and they gave me sweet and sour sauce instead of peanut sauce. When I called in the gentleman did not know what I meant by the sauce and continued to argue with me and say they give sweet and sour sauce. Don't waste your time and call in an order with them they will get it wrong. The. Make an excuse on why it's wrong instead of solving the order. Don't order unless you're there. I have been going to My Thai 2 for about two years. I am a regular. I love the food. It is great bang for your buck. You get great portions and taste for the price. I have been coming here throughout Covid. During Covid they were a bit slow on answering the phone. Since Christie has returned all my calls and orders get through asap. I've never sat down and ate here, only takeout. A lot of takeout places give you cold food and slow service. Not My Thai 2. The food is always great and always hot. Pad Thai - at $11.25, and you get to choose the type of meat you want with it. Chicken, beef, pork options come with no extra charge, but if you want a combo of any of those 3 or seafood (like shrimp), then they'll charge you $2 more. I really liked their pad Thai, the noodles were flavorful and the portion was pretty generous. I really liked that. This dish also came with tofu and bean sprouts. I'd ask next time if they could cook the bean sprouts with the noodles. Overall it was delicious, but I wish it was a bit more saucy than it was. Drunken Noodles/Pad Kee Mao - at $11.25 as well (chicken, beef or pork - no extra charge), and similar to Pad Thai, you get to choose the type of meat you want with it. The flat noodles were well cooked, the sauciness was perfect, and the portion was pretty huge. This dish came with a bit of heat which I super enjoyed. To me this is the absolute best THAI food in the east bay area. I am born and raised South East Asian myself, so you can take my word on this. When I say food.. it is THE FOOD, the dishes are great, delicious, flavorful ... If you want pretty restaurant, well.. there are other choices. The restaurant is just small, nice, unpretentious, cozy with plenty of parking. My 3 favorites are as follows: CRAB NOODLE .. really scrumptious, have it with the skinnier padthai noodles instead of the fat wide noodles. (they typically serve it with the wide noodles) The FISH CAKE appetizer is fabulous.. it is prepared with cucumber salad, all mixed up into a delightful treat for the tastebuds. It is prepared differently than the typical Thai places which just slabs chunks of fish cake with a side of sweet sour sauce and cucumber pickles. The GARLIC SOLE is to die for. that is.. if you like garlicky dish!! I like many other dishes here, but these three are my top picks. read more

This was a suggestion of my friend. Since we're both nearby. I can't believe I haven't gone here sooner. It's menu is full of all sorts of traditional favorites. I can come back and order anything in the menu and know I'm going to enjoy every bite. We had the pad thai and it was made to perfection. We also ordered Jasmin rice to go with the eggplant dish, with basil and beef, mmm so good. To end our evening we shared the sticky sweet rice with mango. I may have to order my own next time. I work fairly close to this spot and man oh man, I'm going to try every item on the menu. So far, I really LOVE their yellow curry. It is savory and delicious, RICH and full of vegetables. I could drink the broth alone, everyday! I also tried the summer rolls with the peanut sauce, and this is by far my favorite meal in my life right now. It's chewy texture with fresh herbs, shrimp, veggies, and noodles with just hits the spot. I also thoroughly enjoyed their drunken noodles. I'm so bummed! I used to love this place! The first thing I have to say is, I'm super unimpressed with the service that I received tonight. The young woman and the lady working the cash register were super rude. Not friendly at all. I ordered something to go, and I was hoping even though the service was rough that the food would at least be good. I was wrong. I don't remember the Crab Rangoon being like this, but they were super, weird. Not what a normal crab brand would be like. There was like onions and cilantro in it or some thing. Very bizarre. And the sauce that came with wasn't even like a sweet-and-sour sauce. It was some kind of green sauce, and although the curry was actually very good, the rice was super dry, and tasted like it has been sitting in the rice cooker for hours.
