In a visit to 99 Ranch, I happened to park in front of this restaurant and decided to check out the menu when I returned. Immediately I look for the beef chow fun which is my personal favorite and gauge of the chef. The person at the desk is friendly and said it was a 10 minute wait. No problem as their to-go business looked pretty busy. I'm always to support a local business and will try most places once. When I got home, I was nicely surprised to see all the beef because this is where some places will be stingy. The noodles could have been fresher but this is what happens when you are away from a Chinatown. Flavor was good, a bit more wok hey would have been my preference but you know what? For the price and location, I'm good to come back to order this again as well as something else. Always gotta support local businesses!

Recommend by coworkers, I came here for lunch. They have a decent lunch menu to choose from which included an entree, rice, egg rolls, and soup. The soup is a vinegar forward hot and sour whilst you can opt for steamed or fried rice. Meals were served family style which I appreciated. My group ordered pork, fish, tofu, and beef and they were all good. One of the better Chinese spots I've had in contra costa county. The server was kind, but did forget our chow mein until we asked about it. The inside is larger than you would expect from viewing the outside and tables can seat about 4 people comfortably.

My extra garlic no garlic having salt and pepper fish.

Sooooo I haven't returned to Shan Shan low since the horrendous experience last year, however today I was in need of a good won ton soup.... Let's just say I'm still in need of a good won ton soup. My friend ordered and picked up the won ton soup which was ordered with heavy broth and no bbq pork. The soup arrived FULL of pork and light on broth. It has no flavor, the old man that is always at the front was horribly rude to him which is pretty normal. He asked for hot mustard was given one pack when he asked for another he was told to order MORe soup. SMH. It's sad how downhill this place has gone. The prices continue to rise the food quality and quantity continue to go down. 4.00 extra to have chowmein on your lunch instead of rice smfh. The food taste is always different, oily or dry. Smfh. I had to add broth, salt, white pepper and recook the soup after removing all the bbq pork. Save your money and your time HUNAN is far better. Ohhhhh annnbbbbbd a dirty old carrot and the end piece of a green onion including the little frowns made its way in the soup. lol yum ;-/

Shan Shan Low is a local Chinese restaurant that offers quick service with exceptional classic dishes. We've had food from here many times, but have yet to eat inside. I do want to visit sometime, the ambience is nice and spacious. My wife and I order lunch specials from here somewhat often, she loves the Mongolian beef while I tend to order chicken dishes. Their orange and lemon chicken are pretty good. The Mongolian beef is very tasty, and their fried rice is great. All of their fried rice dishes are a hit! We've ordered lots of things on the menu, and most of them tend to be very good. When we have family over, we'll place large orders. Our family and friends love the food from here. The person in charge is so nice, he's very consistent and will have your takeout order usually ready in 15 minutes. I would give them four stars, but have to bump them up to five because of their consistency overall.

Been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. Good flavors, great portions, and super friendly staff. Classic old-school Chinese food. Has the great wok flavor if you know you know lol. My favorites? The crispy beef (gotta have the sauce on the side so it stays crispy) unless you're dining in. The hot and sour soup is one of my fav soups . Anything fried rice here is a win. Oh, and the salt and pepper chicken wings are great. My son enjoys eating it all and likes leaving me a piece or two lol. I'm basically part of the Yelp page at this point with multiple check-ins & my pics tells it all! If you want delicious Chinese food in Concord, this is a must try spot.

We were in the area and decided to eat lunch here again. Nothing has changed in a good way. Food is consistently good and portions are huge. Same goes for the service, the staff in there are always so friendly and very attentive.

My coworker and I decided on Chinese food today and Shan Shan Low was the place. My coworker picked up the food for us so I cannot speak on how the inside look or the customer service but she did say anything about the customer service. We got regular chicken fried rice (Not shown), 3 veggie egg rolls, 1 orange chicken lunch special and Mongolian beef. The orange chicken was a little too sweet for me and the Mongolian beef was okay. Overall, this place is not the Best in the West but it's not the worst either. It's just okay. Would I go back? Maybe to try something else Am I rushing to get back? No.

I found this place about 2-3 years ago and haven't stopped coming since! I live in Oakland so it's usually 30-40 min drive but always worth it because of the consistency. Every time I eat it's like the first time all over again. This last trip I went in for a solo lunch and it was exactly what I needed! I ordered the lunch Mongolian beef as with steam rice, beef chow mein, and their fried prawns! The meal comes with a small hot and sour soup but when I asked if they could leave that out he offered me wonton soup instead which was so nice and unexpected since I know they don't usually allow substitutions. Now on to the taste of everything: Beef Chow Mein - 10000/10 this is one of the few Chinese restaurants I order beef from because their beef is so silky and tender not chewy at all Mongolian Beef - 8/10 super yummy with a nice Mongolian flavor but a little to spicy to eat a lot of. It's a lot better with the noodles or steam rice. Fried Prawn - 8/10 super light and crispy and the shrimp are never fishy or bland, I love the batter it's like a beer batter/ tempura and it comes with a sweet and sour sauce Overall I give Shan Shan Low a 9/10 this place is a staple for me when I want good quality consist Chinese food perfect for a low pressure date or even just meeting with a bunch of friend or family since the inside is so large! Oh also my total was about $43 for all this and me and my partner at the leftovers for dinner :)

My favorite place to buy Chinese food in Concord is Shan Shan Low. Let me start by saying how clean this restaurant is. We usually do take out here, but when we decided to dine in, we were very impressed with how clean and tidy it was. The staff is also very friendly and polite. I noticed many people coming in and out taking food to go. These are the dishes we ordered: -Hot and Sour Soup 4/5: the soup has great flavor! I would order it again. I would like to try other soups too. -Mongolian Beef 5/5: This is one of the "must-order" signature dishes. The beef is not chewy; it is always perfectly cooked and well balanced with the onions and other vegetables. -Garlic Eggplant with added Chicken 3.5/5: The eggplant and chicken were delicious, but the dish was a bit too oily for my liking. Although it tasted great, the oiliness turned me off, and the eggplant was a bit mushy. -Chinese Sausage Fried Rice 5/5: Wow! This was my first time trying this here, and it was delicious! I loved that they had the option for sausage fried rice. I'll order this again for sure. Overall, I love this restaurant. It is close by, the quality of the food is excellent, the restaurant is clean, and the staff is nice.

This is a family owned restaurant and they never disappoint when it comes to service and food. Staff is attentive and makes accommodations easy. Chef in the kitchen throws down authentic tasty food. It's a casual vibey place. Come dressed up or dressed down. Great for lunch. For lunch, I recommend their lunch special menu; I went for the Mongolian Chicken (can request instead of beef). Dishes to try: Chicken potstickers, Salt and Pepper prawns and Wor Wonton Soup Tasty: 8/10 Service: 10/10 Will I come back: Yes Price: $$ Picture: Menu and food from the lunch special

Fast friendly service. Everything we ordered was great. Went for the salt and pepper pork chops. Really good. Nice atmosphere. A lot of tables. Parking lot.

The restaurant was great--the food was tasty, the ambience peaceful and full of greenery, and the service solid. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck at lunch!

    Lemon Chicken (Processed Chicken)
    Arturow F.

I've eaten here several times and only recently noticed the chicken has a strange, spongy texture. It doesn't seem like real chicken breast -- more like processed meat. Maybe they've always used this and I just picked up on it now, but either way it's disappointing for the price. The sauce and flavors are good, and I did enjoy the wonton soup and the fried rice, but the quality of the chicken really let me down. Service was great and fast since I ordered to-go and the ambience is chill, peaceful, and welcoming.

I've heard of Yi Ji Chang Fen but only tried it today. I've eaten so much dim sum in my lifetime, so my standard for dim sum may be higher. We came around 5PM on a Saturday and there wasn't anyone really there. It could be because dim sum feels more like a morning or lunch thing, or it could just be because we were there for a very early dinner. Between our party, we shared: - Marinated Chicken and Mushroom Rice Roll - Stuffed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf - Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce - Black Gold Egg Custard Buns - Chicken Feet with Herbs - Dry Style Beef Chow Fun And one Honey Lemon Tea for me. The honey lemon tea was a comfort for the cold day. Maybe a bit too much honey, but still good for the throat during the dry season. The chow fun came first and surprisingly it was not bad. There was a bit of 'wok hey' there and it stands out as one of the better dishes we had. As for the rice roll - I wanted to try something less conventional and I've never seen chicken in rice rolls, so I thought it would be interesting to try. It was quite disappointing though. Their rice roll was bigger than normal in width so with rice rolls being a struggle to pick up already, the bigger size made it an even bigger struggle. Everything just slipped out of the rice roll and it wasn't evenly wrapped. There were some bunched up layers on the edges. I think the chicken just didn't pair that well either and it was lacking in ingredients. Maybe the more conventional rice rolls would be better. For the two types of chicken feet, I normally like the one in herbal soup. If made well, the chicken feet has a nice flavor to it. For Yi Fen's herbal chicken feet, their portion was pretty good, but flavor was less prominent. I enjoyed the chicken feet in black bean sauce more because the flavor was better. Lastly, for the stuffed sticky rice and black gold egg custard buns, I suspect that these are not made in-house, but rather store-bought. The sticky rice lacked ingredients and the rice was a little harder than if made fresh. And the perfectly shaped black buns with a golden brush stroke on top (which I've seen all over the internet) seemed too elevated-looking compared to everything else. I'm not the biggest fan of molten lava buns, but they came out nicely. I didn't have any, but the molten lava custard was pretty runny. All in all, an okay experience. Service was a bit lacking. I don't recommend the dim sum dishes, but if I happen to want congee, I may give this place another go. Apart from the dim sum and rice rolls, the noodles I glimpsed from other customers looked not bad. I wonder if other locations are better.
